Matshita DVD-R UJ-868 not working in Windows XP
I am currently running bootcamp 3.1 and when im booting in XP the DVD-R drive doesnt work.
It can take a cd and spin it but it cant read it or eject it. I checked it under the hardware settings and there is a (!)on the icon stating that the propor driver is not installed.
Since the drive doesnt work I cant reinstall the drivers from the dvd.
The drive still works when i am booting in mac OS!
Any ideas? Thanks

I have a MacBook Pro 15.4" 2.53GHz Core 2 Duo (A1286) - Mid 2009 MC118LL/A and I think the MATSHITA DVD-R UJ-868 is going out. Should I replace it with the exact same drive or is there a better one that is compatible?
I went to my local Apple store last weekend with a similar issue on my 2007 C2D MBP and they quoted me a price of around £60 (excluding VAT) to replace the optical drive. That's about the same price as the external optical drive a bought for my RMBP.
Alternatively you could just buy a 3rd party external drive if you want to save cash but note that the external Apple superdrive is not compatible with MacBooks with built in optical drives. -
I have a hp pavilion dv4-2160us and the dvd/cd reader is not working. it can't detect the disk too. i've done everything on the hp website to fix it (reinstall the driver, etc.), but nothing seems to help. can anybody help me with my problem? thanks!
When you say DVD drive is not working and cant detect disks, Is the Optical drive listed in Device manager and My computer? Is not reading any specific disks or all kinds of disks ?
Also have you tried all possible troubleshooting steps found over here

Dvd@ccess not working with windows (windows media pleyer)
i have build my dvd using the dvd@ccess works fine only on mac
not working on window even after installing the dvd@ccess
is there a way for it to work?Years ago when DVDs first hit the market, everyone was trying to put weblinks on their DVD. The problem was that no one had a seemless system that worked on all computers (there are alternatives to dvd@ccess). No matter what anyone did there were ALWAYS customers who complained, "It doesn't work." So as a result it is now almost impossible to find any new DVD releases that use weblinks.
The best advice is to not have any weblinks on your DVD. No matter what you do, there will always be someone out there who will complain, "It doesn't work." -
DVD ROM not working with Windows 8.1...I need the driver please.
My CD/DVD/BluRay Drive is not working since I upgraded my laptop to Windows 8.1. I really need the driver as soon as possible. I really need the DVD/CD Drive to work. I spent so much money getting this laptop to where it needs to be. I bought new hard drives and everything. Please tell me that you are going to provide a driver for Windows 8.1.
Hi @biokimyaci
Welcome to the HP Support Forums! I see that you are looking for a driver for your CD/DVD or optical drive. There are no specific drivers for the optical drive they are generic Windows drivers that come as part of the operating system. Go to your Device Manager and under DVD/CD-Rom drives right click what you have there and select Uninstall. They restart your computer and Windows will automatically install the driver. What is the product number for your notebook?

I have a Matshita DVD-R UJ-898 which worked fine (from the Finder and from Toast 8) until I used an external Matshita drive (can't remember the model).
Now the finder gives this error:
“Untitled DVD” can’t be burned because the disc is read-only and can’t be modified (error code 0x80020042).
and Toast gives this one:
The drive reported an error:
Sense Key = ABORTED COMMAND
Sense Code = 0x4E

Suggestions?
Thanks so much,
AmyHave you tried using a different brand of optical disk? (You don't say whether you are doing CDs or DVDs.) Some are better than others.

Problème Matshita DVD-R UJ-868
Bonjour,

Aluminum keyboard eject button does not work on Windows XP
I'm wondering if anyone else has the same issue:
the eject disk button on my new aluminum keyboard does not work in Windows XP (Boot Camp).
As I have a Mac Pro, there is no way of manually opening and closing the tray-loading Superdrive.
I can open the drive if I right-click "My Computer>DVD drive>Eject" but there is no way of closing it back. I am obviously not a Windows XP expert, are there ways of mapping the eject function to any key?Actually, how does Software Update figure out what apps you have available for update?
I always thought that Software Update looks at your /Library/Receipts to check what Apple pkgs you have for update, so I assumed that any Apple-related Pkg would be updated. I may be totally wrong on this, correct me if that is so...but thanks for the info. -
I have Photoshop Elements 12 and want to try version 13 before I buy. However, when I tried to download the trial version of Adobe Photoshop Elements 13, I was informed that it isa not available on Windows XP. Does this mean that if I buy the full version, it will not work on Windows XP?
Yes, if the system requirements do not include XP then an XP machine will not be able to use it.

Brightness and volume control keys not working with windows 7?
brightness, volume control and some other keys keys are not working with windows 7 with macbook pro retina. Can I fix it?
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
Have you installed Boot Camp drivers? You need them to make your computer work properly on Windows, and to use your function keys as Play or Pause, volume and brightness keys.
To install them, follow these steps:
1. Press the X key while your Mac is starting to start into OS X.
2. Open Boot Camp Assistant and tick only the option to download Windows support software.
3. Windows support software will be downloaded and Boot Camp Assistant will ask you to burn it into a DVD or USB drive, so do it.
4. Start into Windows, insert the DVD or USB drive and install Boot Camp drivers. Your Mac and your volume and brightness keys will be working after installing the drivers -
Hello,
What could be the reason of OSCDIMG premastering tool not working in Windows 10?
I'm trying to rebuild ISO from the admin setup point and having problems with OSCDIMG failing to read files from the master folder:

For some reason, the tool does NOT support source locations on ReFS formatted drives. Move the D:\ISOFOLDER location to NTFS formatted drive, and the tool works flawless:

Exporting Crystal Report to HTML is not working in Windows 7
Hi Sir,
I am trying to export Crystal Report to HTML format using VB.NET code. Functionality is working fine at Windows XP Environment (Save to Disk, Open an Application and Email Attachment). But the same functionality is not working at Windows 7 Environment (both 32-Bit as well as 64-Bit).
Below is the code to Exporting Crystal Report to HTML in VB.NET.
Dim CrDiskFileDestinationOptions As New DiskFileDestinationOptions
Dim CrFormatTypeOptions As New HTMLFormatOptions
Dim vFormat As Integer
Dim CrExportOptions As New ExportOptions
Dim vRdReport As New ReportDocument
Dim sfd As SaveFileDialog
Dim vFileName As String = Nothing
vRdReport = vRptSource
sfd = New SaveFileDialog
If Not (vRptPath = "") Then
sfd.InitialDirectory = vRptPath
End If
sfd.Filter = "Webpage, Complete(.htm;.htm)|.htm|Web Archive, Single file(.mht)|.mht|Webpage, HTML only(.htm;.html)|.html"
If sfd.ShowDialog = DialogResult.OK Then
' Set the disk file options.
CrDiskFileDestinationOptions.DiskFileName = sfd.FileName.ToString()
Else
Return
End If
CrExportOptions = vRdReport.ExportOptions
CrFormatTypeOptions.HTMLFileName = vFileName
CrFormatTypeOptions.HTMLEnableSeparatedPages = True
CrFormatTypeOptions.HTMLEnableSeparatedPages = True
CrFormatTypeOptions.HTMLHasPageNavigator = True
CrFormatTypeOptions.UsePageRange = True
With CrExportOptions
.ExportDestinationType = ExportDestinationType.DiskFile
.ExportFormatType = ExportFormatType.HTML32
.DestinationOptions = CrDiskFileDestinationOptions.DiskFileName
.FormatOptions = CrFormatTypeOptions
End With
vRdReport.Export()
Catch ex As Exception
MsgBox(ex.ToString)
End Try
Code working fine at Windows XP, But it is not woking in Windows 7 environment.
Please can anyone share your valuable thoughts or ideas reg. this.
Thanks in Advance

It looks like inheritance is broken in the component hierarchy for JFrame in Windows 7 JDK 1.6.0_23-b05. The only thing remotely related to inheritance in your code snippet is the WindowListener, which does little. See camickr's advice about built-in exit management.
EDIT - using the post title as a clue, I realize you may be talking about the component hierarchy, and whether the contentPane's background is visible through the upper layers. Instead of guessing, I'd prefer you describe your "issue" accurately (observed vs expected behavior).

APPLE mouse & keyboard not working with Windows (Bootcamp)
I installed Leopard and Windows XP on my Mac Pro. The installation went very smoothly. Only problem I have is that my Apple wireless keyboard and mouse do not work on Windows (frozen) although they work fine on Leopard. I tried a Logitech wireless trackball and it works fine on both Windows and Leopard. Any suggestion?
Thanks. I upgraded from Tiger and downloaded Bootcamp from Leopard Installation disc ( I did not have a beta version ). I then installed Windows XP SP2 ( brand new, just bought for that purpose ). Wonder if Mac wireless keyboard and mouse are compatible with Window. Everything else work beyond my expectation.
