Maverick broken my midi preview?

Hi ALl,
I recenetly moved to mac, and today i have update to maverick. somehow its broken my ability to preview midi files, I can still open in QT7 but I used to be able to press the space bar and scroll though samples without the need for clicking each one. it used to preview without loading quicktime,
i think its called quicklook but I havent a clue how to fix it, any suggestions.
Other files preview OK with the space key

I believe this is because additional codecs (compressor decompressor) are required to play midi files.
As described in this issue they have changes on Mavericks…

The dropdown menu from the Creative Cloud icon on the menu bar keeps giving me the following message: "Download Error" I quit and restarted the creative cloud app to no avail. Running Mavericks on a mid 2011 iMac.

    Try below steps once
click Gear icon on the top Right corner and Quit Creative Cloud App
Click on Finder and then hold Command + Shift + G keys on your keypad
It will open Go to folder window, type  exactly ~/Library and click on Go
Make sure to open ~/Library not /Library (  there will be two Library folders )
Then open Application Support > Adobe folders
    Trash AAMUpdater and OOBE folders.
Then launch Creative Could and check.

  • Mavericks-Bridge = no video preview

Since upgrading to Mavericks I can't preview video files from the finder or Bridge, is there a workaround for this which doesn't involve converting all my video files? Thanks

While not using many video myself and almost no .avi (been always a problem for me on a Mac, Quicktime is not really supporting .avi natively as it seems) the problem lies with the new Quicktime that came with Mavericks.
Apple seems to abandon older (and especially MS) filetypes like .avi, DivX and .wmv. It also seems the new QT for Mavericks is indeed a very new application, rebuild to 64 bit.
So here is the problem, you can use third party like VLC and MPlayerX (App store on your Mac) to view older file types but Bridge seems to use QT for viewing the movie files.
Either Apple has to downgrade QT (which in al honesty is not very likely to happen once Cupertino has set its mind to go to something new…) or Adobe has to build in the option to use third party like VLC or MPlayerX or come up with a new solution (and again in all honesty, the slowness of updating or developing real new features for Bridge has also not proved to be promising for the last 3 versions I'm afraid).
You can downgrade your system again to Mountain Lion and wait for things to happen on both fronts or bite the bullet and dig in information about converting your files to new formats.
Eventually more kinds of older file types will be abandoned while newer technology goes ahead. It is indeed a bit sad but it is also reality.
But this is also an example for me to again wait with upgrade to new systems at the moment they appear. Better wait for .2 or .3 release and do some research before stepping in to the deep.

  • Mavericks broken lot of functionality on my MacBook Pro

My MacBook Pro worked PERFECTLY, prior to install Mavericks!
After installing Mavericks, I experienced couple of malfunction:
unable to connect via 3G using the Vodafone Mobile Broadband: immediately after start, the program quit unexpectedly
my scanner Epson Perfection 1260 disonnect randomly after scanning the preview
a Java Applet (running in stand-alone window) quit unexpectedly during the Work
the IBM Sametime Unified Telephony (a voip program) doesn't work: no audio during calls
IBM Symphony program quits immediately after start
randomly, connecting my Samsung Galaxy Tab II via USB, the Mac CRASHES (gray screen and reboot)
I read couple of discussions, and I'm convinced that Mavericks is the solely responsible of malfunctions.
I use my MacBook Pro for work, and this is a disastrous condition for me.
I'm very disappointed by this OS update.
Maybe the OS update failed? How can I fix?
Is there  a way to recover Mountain Lion?
    Thnx.

  • Mavericks Finder Raw File Preview Error

Me and my friends are having some issues with the "Finder Space Bar Preview" with RAW files. Some How it's showing an weird preview as if it's and broken file, but some times it come back to normal. This there anyone else having an same issue?

Since upgrading to from Lion to Mavericks 10.9.1 I have this problem, but worse. Attempts to use Preview on .rw2 (Panasonic GX7 RAW) cause massive screen corruption and virtual system hang, requiring a reboot.
Other threads may be talking about same problem, a bug in Mavericks Preview app.

  • Maverick OS: file index preview, delete but file image remains in preview.

Anyone having same issue? Or have I found a bug?
In 'Folder' file view lists, which there are 4 options to view, found in 'top left corner' of folder view: '4 square' - 'Stack' - '3 Coloumn' and 'Index file preview'.
In the 'Index file preview' setting where the highlighted file appears in the preview window at the top of folder.
If I delete a sleceted file, the deleted file image remains in 'file viewer window' above! (the file is sent to trash).
This deleted file then throws ones highlighted slected file names out of sync with what image appears in the 'preview window'.
This can lead to a mis deletation if you dont keep an eye on file name and corosponding preview image above.
If I select file 'ascending or desending' in any of the file properties like 'name - date or kind' this does 'correct - reset' preview stacking images - but I'm sure this isnt how it should be?
    Thoughts?
    Jpvfx

    Hi tonmeno,
Yes this is a hard issue to explain in words alone, but you sound like you are having the same concerns.
Have I found a solution? No, not really.
However, I think it only affects those files that were copied across in the Maverick update - this does not affect new folders generated after the Mavericks install. (?)
What I did find was, lets says I'm in one of those old folders. I delete images or files not required (as we note the preview image remains) if I then go to the 'Change item arrangement' the (six tiny squares with a down arrow icon button), next to the '4 in a line viewing option' buttons (top left of finder window). Then select say arrange as 'name' I now get a reshuffled list of true files contents (previews corrected). But this is no way a fix.
Not sure I can say the Finder is slow?
This sure is a strange one - And as we've both noted this can lead to unnecessary file deletion!
Come-on Apple :-) we can't be the only ones? I'm running 2010 Macbook pro - on 10.9 with everything else up to date.
    I believe its a bug.

  • Mavericks won't open preview, app store, stickies

    Hi,
I accidentally used Clean My Mac and forgot how it erases applications.   Anyways, I would like to use preview and can't.
I'd really like to download Yosemite but can't open the App store.  No, I didn't do time machine.  And switching user accounts doesn't help either.
    Any ideas?
    many thanks,

  • Mavericks editing bug in Preview

Have just encountered a nasty bug in Preview.
When you try to crop an image and adjust the position of crop bars the whole image starts jiggling making it impossible to accurately position the crop point.
    Anyone else encountered this?
I made a screen movie of it & wanted to post it but the movie option is grayed out so I can't.

    Hi sir,
Do your try it on Azure manage portal (https://manage.windowsazure.com )? Azure preview portal currently is preview version and no support approach. So you can confirm this issue on manage portal. If it always
has this error, please feel free to let me know.

  • Server app on Mavericks broken on a Time Machine recovery

Have installed a replacement hard drive in my iMac and recovered from my most recent Time Machine backup.
Everything seems to have gone well except for the Server app, which is now unusable.
On starting Server I get my first error:
“An error occurred while updating your service data”
Click continue, spinning wheel in the dialogue box.
When connecting to server I get a second error; select “This machine”, log in with previous credentials (an admin user):
    “Server requires administrator login
The user is not permitted to administer this server. Make this user an administrator on this server and try again”
The user account I am using IS an administrator on this computer.
I’ve tried a full recovery from the Time Machine backup twice now.
Any suggestions? My thoughts are it could be a Keychain issue, but I'm not sure.

  • App store mavericks broken

I have tried every trick I can find - restarting, resetting PRAM, deleting prefs - mothing. App store opens, and sits there with a blank background. Each section icon (Features, Updates, etc.) will 'light up' when clicked, but does nothing. In fact, they can all be lit up at once.
I can't do any updates, I can't do anything at all n AppStore. I even get occasional updates on one-day discounts and such via the AppStore, and I can't even take advantage of them! This is insanely frustrating!
Is there any other intel on this?

No good. That's one of the many things I have tried. It does the same thing - opens to the blank window, and then nothing, same as in my main account.
Just for clarity, here is what I have tried:
    Launching AppStore from another profile
Deleting prefs and caches for AppStore
    Restarting in SafeMode
    Repairing Permissions, and disk
    Performing all periodic maintenance scripts
    Resetting PRam & NVram
Some odd voodoo with deleting the ethernet profile, restarting, re-adding ethernet, restarting again (from another thread here???)
Logging out of iTunes store and resetting caches there, then restarting.
Turning auto-updates both off and on in System Prefs.
Standing on one foot and rubbing a cat on my head by the light of the full moon...
(Well, ok, I didn't *really* think that last one would work...) Seriously, though, I'm not new to taming odd Mac quirks, but this one is just not budging.
The only thing I haven't done is reinstall the OS via Restore because, really? I don't have a week to fix this via WiFi (reason No. 535 that I think the whole "no media OS install" is a poor idea.....) Although, i have seen plenty of folks that did the reinstall, and siad the issue came back within a couple days, so it seem that isn't any more of a fix than the rest of the voodoo....

  • Preview 7.0 in Mavericks 10.9.3 won't download works sporatically

    MacBook
    OS Mavericks 10.9.3
    Preview 7.0
At tax time I had to change the default pdf viewer to Adobe.  When I tried to return to Preview as my default reader, I ran into all kinds of problems.  First  I did the Control Click to get Open With, chose Preview and clicked "always open with."  That worked fine for that one pdf file, but it did not make Preview the default pdf viewer.  I searched some more and found a way to make Preview the default by going to the Internet plug-ins folder and dragging the Adobe plug-ins to the trash. That did make Preview the default reader again, but not to its fully functional state.
So now Preview as my default reader, but it doesn't download pdf files directly from the Internet (Safari Browser) to open at a later time.  The only way I can see a pdf file is to open it in Preview first.  When I do open a pdf on the Internet with the intention of downloading, but not saving it, I get a straight vertical line like the flashing cursor without the flash, no pointer.  I can click any of the four buttons at the  bottom of the Internet pdf page, but the download button does not work at all.
I don't know what to do.  I am very frustrated.  Any help will be greatly, greatly appreciated!

10.9.1 is still in beta. Should you have any problems with it, you should post in the Mac Dev section.

10.6.8 has been great, it runs great with all my apps but am concerned about lack of support now. I know my PC apps will not work but maybe some apps that work now will "walk away" from 10.6.8 and then there's the security question of above.
I am also concerned about iPhoto 9 transition to i-Photo 11 and compatibility of my Time Machine WD Passport HD (format: Mac OS Extended (Journaled) based on several questions in applicable forums.
Thanks for your help in this important decision!

If I were you I would stick with Snow Leopard. It's much better suited to your old hardware. That said:
Upgrading from Snow Leopard to Lion or Mavericks
To upgrade to Mavericks you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8, Lion, or Mountain Lion installed. Purchase and download Mavericks (Free) from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. The file is quite large, over 5 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.

    Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mavericks, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion at the Online Apple Store. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
