Maverick compatible with photoshop element 8
Does anyone know if Photoshop Element 8 is compatible with Maverick? Is there a list anywhere of software that would need to be upgraded? Would like to know before upgrading.

By using the polygonal lasso, or the marquee tool, or magic wand (depending on how complex the shape is that you want to leave in color) trace
around the object you want to leave in color. Then go to the select tab and choose invert. That changes your selection to everything except the
object you want to color. Under the Enhance tab choose Blank and White. Then back to the Selection tab - choose invert again. Now you
can change the color of your object or leave as is. Everything but that will be black and white. Hope this helps you.;

IPhone 2.0 software now compatible with Photoshop Elements 6?
While the current software is compatible with earlier versions of Photoshop Elements, it is not compatible with Elements 6 since Abobe changed their database (nor longer using Access). I notice that the specs on iPhone 3G say compatible with Photoshop Elements.
Can anyone confirm that means Elements 6?However, to be fair, while there may be savings to be had, your company would have to replace existing phones with iPhones and tie everyone into one carrier (which accross a multi-office environment may not be practical, due to coverage issues). The iPhone does not offer the level of encryption available to a Blackberry/RIM handset, or the ability to enforce security policies on handsets, which may be a concern to your IT and Security people. It also misses some useful features (such as searching email for words/phrases. This is a feature I use regularly on my Blackberry, and I'm disappointed to not find it on my iPhone. ). And there is the whole, One Vendor issue that may worry some (you can connect non-RIM, e.g. Nokia, etc, phones to your BES providing the phone supports the required blackberry software).
I've got to say, as much as I love my iPhone (and I'm personally migrating from my blackberry to it) I don't think I'd recommend it as an enterprise phone.... yet... It's still got a way to go. As a personal+business phone, I'm giving it a shot (as the personal side is quite good). My current employer is a small company, with no BES, so I use my carrier's BIS, and get by with it. As such, the calendar+contacts sync available through mobileMe is a plus . If I was planning IT direction for a larger organisation though, I'd be considering the iPhone (if for no other reason than an excuse to play with one ), but I wouldn't be preparing a migration just yet! -

Canon 450D CR2 Files compatible with Photoshop Elements 7?
I have recently bought a Canon 450D camera and have noticed that the RAW CR2 images produced are not compatible with my Photoshop CS2 version. I'm not sure about upgrading to the latest version of Photoshop since I probably wouldn't use all the features but I would probably upgrade to Elements 7. Is Elements 7 completely compatible with my Canon CR2 files and has anyone else used this combination and been impressed with the results?
Thanks.The 450D came out after CS2 was obsolete so you need at least CS3 to read 450D RAW files.
Elements 7, being the current version, would support the 450D RAW files; however, I use CS4 and LR2 with my RAW files so cannot say how good PSE is or isn't.
The other option is to convert the RAW files to DNG with the latest free DNG Converter and then use CS2 with the DNGs.
If you have a dual or quad-core system with at least 2GB of memory, I'd suggest using Lightroom. -
Print Studio Pro plugin is not compatible with Photoshop Elements 12 Editor for Mac
It appears that the latest version of Print Studio Pro PlugIn is not compatible with the Editor version of Photoshop Elements 12 for Mac as available on the App store. The install gives an error saying that it did not find a supported version of Photoshop Elements. This error has been reported before for Elements version 12 but was reportedly fixed in the latest version of Print Studio Pro. Now it appears that this version may support Elements 12 for Mac but not the Editor only version from the app store. Any suggestions for work-around on this?

No!
Not untill Mac and Adobe and Canon get their collective acts together. Mac (Apple) has the bad habit of upgrading their stuff and not being forthcoming with the particulars given to 3rd party companies like Canon and Adobe.
Besides the cost difference of Mac's the compatibility issues are it's worst features.

Saved printer information is not compatible with Photoshop Elements 11
Hello - After successfully using PSE11 to print photos on my Epson Artisan 810 printer, the printer died and was replaced with an Epson Artisan 837 printer. The new printer works on ALL of my other applications EXCEPT I receive the following error message after hitting 'print' on Photoshop Elements 11.
MESSAGE:
The saved printer information is not compatible with this version of Photoshop Elements, or the saved printer is no longer available. You will need to check your printer settings before printing.
You can see from the screen print attached that the Epson Artisan 837 is a validly installed printer. All advanced settings were available for selection/modification, and all printer drivers are up to date. Also, uninstalled and reinstalled the printer without resolution of the problem.
Can anyone please point me in the right direction to resolve this issue?

Here's what I had to do to get this to work:
1 - I first tried to rename this printer to a generic 'DSLW Printer'. This renaming worked for ALL OTHER applications except Photoshop Elements 11 even after rebooting my PC. Received the identical error message listed in the original message.
2 - I then renamed the printer as 'EPSON Artisan 810 Series'. This was of course a lie but matched the printer as named by the 2010 original Artisan 810 installation. VOILA! This does work for Photoshop Elements 11 (jpg and psd files tested) and the other applications that I've tested. Hopefully all other testing will provide equally successful results.
So problem seems to be resolved BUT is this a question/problem that I should pursue with either Adobe or Epson? I do know that the 810 and 837 only differ in the ability to print from a wider variety of wireless devices (e.g. cell phones & tablets), otherwise the functionality is virtually identical. Did Epson drop the ball or did Adobe? Or maybe it's simply that I'm a die hard XP sp3 (32 bit) user until forced out by Microsoft.

Can I link iPhoto with Photoshop Elements Editor?
The new AppStore PSE Editor doesn't seem to link with iPhoto like the full version
If you're referring to iPhoto on your Mac:
Using Photoshop or Photoshop Elements as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop or Photoshop Elememts as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop. When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
3 - however, if you get the navigation window
that indicates that PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file. You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
NOTE: With Photoshop Elements the Saving File preferences should be configured as shown:
I also suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always. In PSE’s General preference pane set the Color Picker to Apple as shown:

Note: to switch between iPhoto and PS or PSE as the editor of choice Control (right)-click on the thumbnail and select either Edit in iPhoto or Edit in External Editor from the contextual menu. If you use iPhoto to edit more than PSE re-select iPhoto in the iPhoto General preference pane. Then iPhoto will be the default editor and you can use the contextual menu to select PSE for your editor when desired.

After clicking print the menu that comes up does not allow for a change in paper type. Where can I change the paper type. OS 10.10 Yosemite with Photoshop Elements 13. I have a windows computer with the same program and the print menu has a paper settings option but not on the the mac. What gives. Is the Elements 13 not compatible with the OS 10 Yosemite? If you delete all the Adobe Reader stuff it will probably fix this. For almost everything, the Apple pdf handling works better.

I bought a canon EOS Rebel T5i. It came with photoshop elements 11. PS won't open my C2 raw files and says my camera isn't supported by the software I have downloaded 7.4 dng converter and I still can't open the files. What do I need to do?
You need camera raw 8.4 for your camera, if it’s Digital Rebel T5 EOS 1200D EOS Kiss X70. It is not compatible with PSE11; so it’s a bit odd if that software was bundled with the camera except that it will work with jpegs. I suggest you download and install the free Adobe DNG converter to convert your CR2 files to the Adobe universal Raw format and the DNG files will editable in PSE11(keep your originals as backups and for use in the camera manufactures software)

Scanning with Photoshop Elements 12
I recently updgaded from Elements 9 to Elements 12, but the Import pick is greyed out in the File menue in 12. I can still scan in 9 and my everything has been upgraded for OSX 10.9 (Mavericks). Where exactly should the Twain plug in reside to make it work?
I did this and restarted the computer but still nothing. I tried 9 afterword and it still works, but no doubt added these deleted paths back. I'm stumped. Sorry for being a nuisance. I don't suppose it should be this hard. Jumping around and fixing this and then that makes it difficult to know if something is being missed or still needs to be done and then there is the possible issue of accomplishing all this in a certain order.

NOTE: If you want to use both iPhoto's editing mode and PS/PSE without having to go back and forth to the Preference pane, once you've selected PS as your editor of choice, reset the Preferences back to "Edit Photos: in iPhoto". This way you get the best of both worlds.
NOTE: Currently there is a bug in iPhoto 11 when using PS or PSE to edit a .png, .tiff or .psd file in iPhoto. iPhoto makes a duplicate copy of the file, saves it as a .jpg file and tried to open it for editing. Since the .jpg is the wrong extension for those three file types an error message is generated.
However, editing .jpg files with PS in iPhoto works.

Trouble with Photoshop Elements 8
Every time that I print a photo using Photoshop Elements 8, the photo show vertical lines and the colors are awful. I cannot print a photo using Photoshop Elements 8. I checked the printer and has no any problem. I print all my photos using Windows Photo Viewer. I have no idea what's happening with Photoshop Elements 8. Can anybody help me with this problem?

Help with Photoshop Elements, I'm new to it?
So I'm just fiddling around with Photoshop Elements, and I have a picture of a crocodile that I'm trying to turn blue, so I'm using the Smart Brush and Blue Sky effect to change his skin colour.
Firstly, is there an easier way to change the colour of something that I'm missing?
Secondly, how do I control the Smart Brush precisely? The thing is his body is about the same colour as the water so when the brush gets to a certain point the entire image turns blue.
So how do I select the crocodile but not the water?
Thirdly, the brush. I can draw with the brush, but then I get the "wait" symbol and my changes vanish. How do I stop this?
Thanks for replies, and I'm sorry for my noobishness, I just got Photoshop Elements yesterday.You can make the brush cursor larger & smaller with the bracket keys next to the letter p on the keyboard. This affords more control in making the selection.
Use of the Smart brush tool is probably the easiest way to colorize an object. The tool has a buit-in mask. If you look on the Layers palette (Window>tick layer), the black and white rectangle represents the mask.
Left click on the mask, then access the brush tool (the ordinary brush B) and with a black brush paint over the area where the blue spilled over to the water. If you go too far, paint with a white brush to correct. -

Does Elements need to have access to ‘My Pictures’ on Windows as when I remove Photos from ‘My Pictures’, Elements later, when backing up, gives a message that it is unable to ‘reconnect’ to the same picture on elements. On other occasions when removing a photo from Elements catalogue I also get a similar message when backing up saying ‘unable to reconnect’. 1. Is there a relationship between Elements and My Pictures and is Elements dependant on the Windows ‘My Pictures’? 2. Why does some photos in Elements in some cases cause them to multiply e.g. double; triple; quadruple; and on occasions even more? Is there something I need to do to stop this or an easy way I can remove the multiples without spending hours doing it manually one by one? Am I doing something wrong? My O/S is Windows XP SP2 and windows Vista on my Laptop. I have been using Elements 5 and have just purchased Photoshop Elements 8.0. (Upgrade) and about to install it. Be grateful for any advice as I do enjoy using the program if only I can resolve this issue. I am not a PC wiz and mainly use Elements to catalogue photos from which I compile collections and from them slide shows with music. The organizer doesn't care where you send your photos when you download them via the downloader or where they happen to be when you first bring them in if you use the Get Photos command, but once your pics are in the Organizer, you *must* move them from within organizer or it can't find them. You don't have to use My Pictures at all if you don't want to, but regardless of the folder where you put your photos, if you want them someplace else, you use organizer to do it.

Having issues with charts in Keynote '09
When I try to create a chart in Keynote '09, it comes in all messed up and does not allow me to edit it. It comes in inverted and a complete disaster. See below:
