Maverick: different usb cables to ipad2 prompt error message - won't charge

maverick prompts "ipad not charging - connect to a poer adapter or usb port on this mac to charge."
very same cables worked before update to maverick.

Dunno if this will help you.  I tried plugging in my ipad to the same cable that has been in the same usb port for ages and it would not charge.  I tried tons of updates and nothing worked.  While reading these messages I thought to try a different usb port (same computer) and it worked (at least it says it is).  I have a early 2008 imac.  Went from far right port (if facing the back) to middle (there are three.)  I did turn off find my ipad, but I don't think that mattered and plan to turn it back on.  Good luck.  (All this to read a book I paid for on my computer!)

The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W (5W on Mini) USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.

At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. In rare instances when using the Camera Connection Kit, you may notice that iPad does not charge after using the Camera Connection Kit. Disconnecting and reconnecting the iPad from the charger will resolve this issue.

    Hello,
These are two different technologies. One is USB oriented and another one for COM-port. I use CA-53 (USB-cable), which suits to the latest phones.

My iPad2 has error message "Could not activate cellular data network : PDP authentication failure"

All iPhones sold in Japan are sold carrier locked and cannot be officially unlocked by the carrier. If you unlocked it, it was by unauthorized means (hacked), and support cannot be given to you in this forum.
Hacked iPhones are subject to countermeasures by Apple, particularly when updating the firmware. It is likely permanently re-locked or permanently disabled.

  • Apple TV won't load up. the light flashes and the logo appears on the TV then it just goes off and starts again. I've tried restoring via USB on 5 different computers and I keep getting error message 9? Can anyone please help?

I have a black Apple TV that has recently stopped working. It loads the Apple Logo on screen then goes off and starts again. It's as if it is stuck in a loop. I've tried a re-boot and this has failed. I have tried a restore using a USB cable on 5 different computers, including a Mac Book Pro and it downloads the update file but when it tries to restore I get the error code 9 showing on screen. I just can't get it to do anything.
    Can anyone please help?

    Thanks for that information!
I'm sure I will be calling AppleCare, but the problem is, they charge for the phone calls don't they? Because I don't have money to be spending to be on the phone with a support service.
In other things, it seemed like the only time my MacBook was working was when I had Snow Leopard without the 10.6.8 update download that was supposed to be done to prepare for OS X Lion.
When I look at the information of my HD it says that I have 10.6.8 but that was the install that it claimed to have failed and caused me to restart resulting in all of the repeated problems.
Also, because my computer is currently down, and I've lost all files how would that effect the use of my iPhone? Because if it doesn't get fixed by the time OS 5 is released, how would I be able to upgrade?!

  • Using different usb cables

    Hi,
I have a heap of various electronic devices that connect to my computer via usb cables. However, the cables are very easy to mix up and it is not easy trying to work out which belongs to what device.
Can someone please tell me if it matters or not if I use say my camera's USB cable for connecting my camera, external drive and phone to my computer, so long as that one cable fits in the connections on all of the devices? Or is there something unique within each USB cable that means it should only be used for the device that it came with (ie the phone needs the phone's usb cable, the camera needs the camera's cable etc)?
Hope the question is clear enough.
    Cheers.

  • Can't install Logic Studio 9 on clean install of Mavericks due to "powerpc applications not supported" error message

    Hello -
I've recently performed a clean install of Mavericks on my MBP.  I then attempted to install Logic Studio but was met with the error message "You can't open the application "LogicStudio.mpkg" because PowerPC applications are no longer supported."  Mavericks was installed as an upgrade prior to the clean install, and at that time Logic Studio functioned normally.  Any suggestions?
    Thanks

    Logic 9 or 8?
There is a bug in the installer program of Logic that makes Lion, Mt. Lion and Mavericks think that it is PowerPC.
Best solution would have been to install Logic BEFORE you upgraded to Mavericks, but before you backup, wipe and start all over, try to use Pacifist to install it and please report back.

  • HT201210 My Ipod has itunes icon and usb cable icons on its face but won't respond or restore how do I get it to do something?

I tried to update the new ipod sofware and my ipod has a itunes and usb cable picture on its face, but after hours it will not do anything.  I tried to restore and it won't even do that.

All I was just trying to do is update my Ipod!!
Now its all messed up. Should have left it the way it was!

  • Prompt error message in JSP

May I know how to prompt an error message in JSP?? can I use alert() as in javascript? what's the proper syntax to do it???

Just to simplify what is already said: All JSP code, without exception, is executed on the server side, and when the JSP page is shown to the user (client) there is no execution of any JSP CODE, you can only use the information supplied by the JSP code.

  • I have tried resetting my photostream several times on three different computers only to get the error message that it can not be reset because of trouble connecting with the servers.  It says the same thing on a sync about contact conflicts.

I cannot reset my photo stream.  The error message "cannot connect to servers" comes up.  I have the same problem with syncing contact conflicts.  I have logged in on three different computer & networks on three different occasions.  What's the deal?

Pure Propaganda to make it look good. Icloud Servers  are having issues since days but today it is definately broken and also for me everything is offline, without having changed one setting.
Look at hundreds of server failures, photostream fails, mail not working..  only recent posts.

  • Attaching USB External Drive Results in Error Message

I hope this is the right forum to seek help on this issue, and I hope someone can help...
I have a 500 gig external hard drive hooked up to my AEBS. Because the issue I describe at the forum topic below continues, I access it by going to the "Go Menu" and choosing "Connect to Server."
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1255400&tstart=0
Yesterday, I tried to connect the drive directly to my Macbook Pro, and it did not appear to mount (normally a little globe icon would appear on my desktop, this time it did not.) So I navigated to "/volumes" and found what appeared to be the icon I was seeking that would allow me to open the drive. However, when I try to open it, I get the following error message:
"500 gig could not be opened because the original item could not be found."
At that point, I have 3 options:
    Delete Alias
    Fix Alias
    Cancel
Attempting to delete the alias results in a message stating I do not have sufficient privileges for such a maneuver. Attempting to fix the alias puts me into my finder/file directory as if I'm supposed to navigate to a file.
    Other interesting fun:
    * The drive appears in Disk Utility when I plug it into my Macbook Pro, and I can mount, unmount, and eject it there.
    * In Disk Utility, it says that the file structure is "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)" - which is how I formatted it when I first got the drive and plugged it into my Macbook Pro.
    * When I "get info" on the icon in "volumes", it says that the owner is "system."
    * When I connect to the drive via AEBS and choose "get info" on the icon, it says that it is formatted as "windows file sharing."
    * My privileges when it is routed through my AEBS say I can "Read & Write."
I have searched this error message on the 'internets' and in this forum, but the hits I encounter seem to involve connecting to Windows servers with a Mac.
As you can probably tell, my level of computer knowledge is only about enough to get me in trouble. Any help or direction is appreciated..

Never found or heard an answer for this. Since I could access the drive wirelessly through my router, I ended up copying everything over to my laptop (50+ Gigs - took HOURS), and then reformatted the disk with Disk Utility. I can now access it by hooking it directly into the laptop. I'm now moving everything back and setting this topic to answered.

  • Lightning cable that came with iPhone 5 won't charge

Waited in line since 4am to get my iPhone only to bring it home and try to to restore from iTunes when I find out I got a bad cable. When I plug it into an outlet it won't charge and when I plug (even just the USB end) into my laptop, it gives me an error saying there's too much power in the USB port and auto-disconnects it. My friend let me try his and it worked fine both ways, so it's definitely a bad cable. Too bad they're not carrying them for the next few days....
Hope this isn't a widespread issue.

Same issue. Intermittant charging with the AC Adapter, but did manage to get it set up with a 1st gen MBA. When plugged into the USB port on a new 11" MBA, it either doesn't recognize the iPhone (left USB port) or it immediately shuts down the computer (right USB port). And no, I'm not making this up.
On the phone with Apple last night for about 90 minutes (after ATT for 45 minutes.....that was fun). Was bumped up to real support tech who is "researching the problem" and who is to call me back at 11 am this morning. (You do have to give them some credit for customer support) I've also made a pre-emptive appointment at an Apple store (60 miles away) for this afternoon in case I'm told to pickup a new phone.
Odd that they can build a flawless phone that is clearly the technological bellweather but they can't get the cable right. I also wonder how they can release the phone but not have the cables and adapters ready. I was ready to just buy a couple of cables and call it a day.

  • J6480 Ink Cartridge Door Hinges Broke. Door Open error message won't let me print. What can I do?

Have always been very careful with cartridge & scanner doors.  Pressing OK doesn't remove error message.  Broken hinges will no longer go down, so Door Open message won't go away and preventing printing.

The problem is the spring tension used to hold the cover open is stronger than the poorly designed weak hinges.
The way I solved it was to break both the hinges, (pretty easy to do just open and close the cover a few times),  lift the cover up being carefull not to break the ribbon cable (wires) from the cover to the base. Then I pryed out the lower spring plates, these are located in the hinge assembly of the printer and removed the black plastic plunger and  the large springs below it from both hinges. The cover wil now stay closed and allow you to print. You just have to be careful when changing the print cartridges as the cover can open too far now and possibly break the wires going to the top cover.
    Happy Printing
