Maverick doesn't recognise iPod touch 4th generation on iTunes

my macbook pro late 2011 doesn't recognise iPod touch 4th gen 6.1.5 on iTunes. I read another thread how to sync via WiFi or ethernet but i don't understand. I just want to sync my music.not apps.

1.Does iTunes give you a message to Erase and Sync, are you trying to put Music from your iPod into iTunes?
2. if the iPod Touch is just not showing up, Go to the Black Apple in the top left hand corner, Select About this Mac, then Click on More Info, the Click on System Report, Under Hardware go to USB is the iPod showing up there in the USB device Tree?
If yes to 1., this is not possible, download Third Party Application and Procede from there
If the device is not showing up in 2. , are there any other items connected to the Computer via USB, if yes, you have a bad cable or bad pin on the ipod touch, if not connect something else to the USB and see if it shows up in 2.
If you do not have any other things connected to the computer via USB and can not connect anything else to a USB try Removing everything from the ports of the computer, Quit any applications, then Shut Down the Computer
When the Computer is shut down
Reset SMC Hold "Control+Option+Shift ( on the left hand side of the computer) and the Power Key all at the same time,for about 10 seconds, if you do this correctly then the computer will NOT Turn On
Then Locate Command+Option+P+R (the last two are letter keys), You will need to press and hold these buttons after Powering on the Computer and hearing the Startup Chime, if you do this correctly the Computer will go Black, White, and the make the Chime again
If this does not solve the Issue and the Device is still not showing up in 2. then you have a hardware problem on the computer and need to get your USB ports replaced

I have had my ipod touch 4th generation for a couple months now.... Nowhere in the manuals or help sections does it tell me how to make individual pucture files(like that already on my computer) put onto my ipod touch.... I managed to make one and I can't remember how I did it but when I have the touch hooked up to itunes and try to pick which picture files from my computer to sync, a box always opens and says that it will delete everything in the original photo library that was in there.....
Can anyone help me there has to be away, I know someone has done it but they don't live here to show me!!!!

Just got my new ipod touch 4th generation, since my 2nd generation was stolen a couple of months ago, and when it finished its sync process, I noticed that out of my 16,000 + photos in iphoto, only 2,435 were synced. Tried again numerous times, changing options, ("selected albums and events", "all" etc,), but nothing worked. Ever since I've had my Mac, I've only used iphoto to download, organize and share my photo collection; same cameras also. With my previous ipod, the sync process ran smoothly, and always got ALL my albums and events under the "photos" icon of my ipod. What's happened? What's changed? Ipod touch 4th generation camera doesn't work after smashed screen replacement

I have an ipod touch 4th generation that i smashed to screen with a torch, i got the screen replaced however my camera shutter will NOT open at all, i can go into camera roll and everything BUT the shutter wont open and the slide to go from camera to video just blinks a few times. Ive tried everything from turning it off and on(note my off/top button doesn't work) I had problems with the camera before i had the screen replaced but now it doesn't work at all. And will resetting and/or restarting it through iTunes delete ANY of the conent i have on my Ipod?
Any help much appreciated as i can NOT afford to get it fixed at Apple!!

If you restored to factory settings/new iPod and still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem.
In that case take it back to the people who replaced the screen. They likely messed something up unless what broke the screen and broke the camera.

Ipod touch 4th generation, screen doesn't work in certain apps.

Hi i have a Ipod touch 4th generation. I have somewhat of a weird problem, at least i think it is. My ipod touch screen works really well just opening apps on the springboard any where on the screen. Also in certain apps I have no problems, but in others it seems that it will not let me click on buttons toward the bottom. I found this odd because in other apps i have no problem and everything seems responsive. I have done some of my own troubleshooting and apps like google maps and the email app work fine. But other apps such as fatbooth, facebook and instagram I cannot touch icons anywhere near the bottom they just dont registar. Any help?

Sounds like a hardware issue. Your screen digitizer may need to be replaced.

Can someone please help me. I need to find out if my iPod Touch 4th Generation can be used for Air Play with my Apple TV. When I go to photos I can use Air Play to display them. But I cannot use airplay for my apps like Facebook, and My games like The Sims. I am using iOS 6.0.1. Is that the issue if so, When you be updating the 4th Gen. Touch to be able to use it with the 6.0.2 version. I beleive Apple can do better with this. hi, when I go to connect my ipod touch 4th generation to the computer an error sign come up which says either "this device is not recognised " or " there has been an error that has occured therefore ipod can not connect" this is problem 1.
problem 2. is that when my ipod does connect, if I bump the chord it logs out straight away and not knowing what is happening I have tried everything like blowing in the connection turning my ipod on and off and even restoring my ipod to its original settings.
Once I restored it a sign in itunes said that it has found an ipod in recovery and to be able to use the ipod with itunes I had to restore and update which I have done many times but nothing is working PLEASE HELP!!!

I am getting very frustrated with this iPod Touch 4th generation. I have been using my 2nd generation iPod Touch to use iMessage to text people and use as a 'fake iPhone' because carrying around my cell phone and iPod is annoying.
Basically, I have tried multiple times to change the DNS on every network to the google public server (8.8.8.8) and this does not work.
I attempt to sign in to my Apple ID on iMessage and it says "iMessage Activation: Could not sign in. Please check your network connection and try again." Even though it claims I cannot connect to the internet, I can connect and browse on Safari and other Apps, but iMessage (also Facetime) will never connect or let me sign in. I continually receive that error message that I need to check my network connection. I just don't understand why. iMessage will work on my iPad 3rd gen and my iPod Touch 2nd gen, but not my iPod Touch 4th gen.
I am using my college's WiFi network and it is hit and miss in my building, but both my iPod touch 2nd gen and iPad 3rd gen can receive iMessages and everything fine. I am starting to think that the 4th gen ipod touch just has a crappy wifi receiver or something.
PLEASE help me fix this. I don't know what else to do.
I just updated to iOS 6.1.2 and that did not fix it either.

You can connect to any computer and do it but it is a lot of work. When you restore after following the following instructions and iPod will also be updated.
