Maverick Update Fail (Disk Failure) - Read this

So, I was trying to update my macbook pro to OS X Mavericks and it said " The OS X upgrade couldnt be started because the disk is damaged and cant be reparied. After your computer restarts, back up your data, erase your disk, and try installing again".
I was quite scared as this is my work laptop and had 450GB of data. I didnt had a spare hard disk (atleast not with 450GB) space.
So I went to apple store and talked to someone at genius bar who said data will be lost - we will install new image of lion @150 pounds. Walked into another store to talk to another techie same result. So went home.
While i was reading discussions forums on apple I kept trying to install and it kept failing and installing;. After 21 attempts is succeded. No back up data - no installing new image - no restoring. It took me 2 hrs but i got it done without all that hassle.
What I observed was that slowing the time remaining to install went from 44 to 42 to 41 to 39 in various install, so as far as you notice time reducing its worth trying it 20-30 times. In the final sucessful attempt it went to 34 mins and then again up to 1 hr and 8 mins but it finally worked. Sigh!!

Nope, hit play, screen is working fine, everything is OK. You scared me there for a minute. That Nano is my alarm clock with my Zeppelin. Glad there isn't a software bug. Or else mine would have a white screen also. Much more likely that it is:
1. A battery problem or
2. A logic board problem or
3. An LCD screen problem

If you are desperately waiting for a new update... Read this!

WOW! Just saw this post. This is really pushing me towards Roku or Andoid mini-PC... I did their survey and commented in there that I do realize technology is always changing/improving/etc... But the existing WD TV lives that I have could very easily be fixed with a proper firmware update. One that fixes the rather serious memory leak, particularly with Netflix. And I know it wouldn't be that hard to get a proper programmer to resolve how slow the device is to refresh it's library from an NAS. Just need someone to take the time. Really hope WD is reading this, as they are going to end up putting a really bad name behind a device that has some amazing potential! It just needs to be finished, rather that left in this "beta" stage it's in now.

I believe it was more to do with a licensing thing so they took out Netflix. Keyboard is randomly unresponsive after latest Mavericks update. How to fix this?

My keyboard is randomly unresponsive for a minute or two after the latest update. This happens a few times a day. Does anybody else experience this problem?
I'm on a 2011 Macbook Air, using Mavericks.

When you have the problem, note the exact time: hour, minute, second.
These instructions must be carried out as an administrator. If you have only one user account, you are the administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
          SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
          View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
Each message in the log begins with the date and time when it was entered. Scroll back to the time you noted above.
Select the messages entered from then until the end of the episode, or until they start to repeat, whichever comes first.
Copy the messages to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of it useless for solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.

after analyzing logs, this started to happen AFTER EFI update on 13 of September. This resulting in total hung of macbook. Now i want to roll back that update.
This is confirmed for Macbook 13" (Mid 2011)

Earlier in your post you indicated that that there's been an issue with the EFI firmware update on your machine. It's very possibly and likely that other services which are negotiated on the EFI level are not working properly as a result of the problem you're having.

Hard disk failure E105-S1802 Satellite

My Satellite E105-S1802 is reporting a hard disk failure. This is basically a new laptop that I only use for typing documents and searching internet. Why is it already having hard disk problems? I'm currently in school and need this laptop everday.

hdd will fail early or late in their lives. back up all of your info onto an external hdd or cd/dvd immediatly. if your hdd fails and you didnt back it up you will lose everything forever. toshiba will cover the cost under warranty if you are still in the first year. toshiba will replace it and will not save your old one or the data on it so it is your resposibility to back it up before you send it.

PSCC Update failed Error code U44M1P7

PS CC update fails. I suspect this is because my C drive (SSD 120) is for OS software only and I want All other software installed on another disk drive. What to do?

I found a solution:
I have try all: Uninstall, reinstall, reboot, Clean... and nothing have worked until I have seen somebody saying this:
to fix this (on a PC)
1: open up the Creative Cloud control panel, and quit out.
2: Navigate to C:\Users\YOUR_USERNAME\AppData\Local\Adobe\AAMUpdater
3: Delete (or rename) the directory named "1.0"
4: restart Creative Cloud
5: Got to the App manager and update
I try that but didn't work. But finally a notice (in my case) in this directory (C:\Users\Bart Raven\AppData\Local\Adobe\AAMUpdater\1.0\Install\AdobeAfterEffects-13.0.0-Trial\13.0.2) I had a SETUP.ZIP file of the 13.0.2 update that was BROKEN and it didn't want to unzip. IT WAS A SETUP.ZIP file BROKEN.
THAT WAS THE PROBLEM!!
I download a new 13.0.2 update from this site:

RUN IT, and finally everything works fine again!!
Then i put the last update from the Adobe Cretive Cloud.
SO, The problem is a broken SETUP.ZIP file update in some place in here: C:\Users\Bart Raven\AppData\Local\Adobe\AAMUpdater\1.0\Install - for WINDOWS.
Just replace it for a good one.

Photoshop cs4 11.0.2 update fails windows 7 64 bit

Hello..
I finally got upgraded to windows 7 64 bit and and installed the cs4 download I got awhile back and it installed cs4 11.0 no problems. I got every update to install but the 11.0.2 update fails and I get this message
"Adobe Setup has stopped working"
I have tried every thing I read, run as admin, move stuff out of appdat folder, reinstall.... reboot 39 times , I have no windowd defender or AV running at all everything I can find on here does not work and I get this error..... I read everyone gets this error except a darn few lucky souls..... so I tried compatibilty modes, it does the same error from win 98 all the way to win 7, xp same error vista same error it don't matter what version of windows this update seems to just stop working, so I did a troubleshooter on it and it determined that this program is incompatible with windows... I tried downloading it from Adobe and tried that... same error everytime.... don't matter if its through adobe updater or direct download this update fails and I decided to try 11.0.1 and it does the same so I guess PS CS4 11.0 is really not updatable to 11.0.2. and adobe suggests you to go cs5 to solve this problem. Except their updates fail to it looks like on this forum....

I have tried run as admin, same error pops up, I tried giving myself ownership and special permissions and everything to the PS folder since the exe is read only thinking thats why it wont update... I ran the clean script and reinstalled and tried every trick known to man ( well this forum and several others found on google) and nothing seems to work, the 11.0.2 update itself crashes, so I am just going to assume its windows fault because it does seem to work for other people....but it does seem to crash on mac I have read too... I have UAC disabled and no AV installed trying this so I installed my trend micro AV and checked and the puter is virus free so am not sure why I can not use the update but here is the screen shots I get....
I run setup.exe as admin I get this
then when I click on next, with 2 seconds I get this popping up, count 1,2 bam their it is..

Are any others having to updates fail only to be left with a non-resonsive iphone that is locked on the "connect to itunes" pic? This happens to me on every update. The update downloads, installs, then at the end of the install, I get an unknown error, telling me the update failed. Why is this happening?
I am running Windows Xp service pack 2 along with itunes 8.0. Now, my iphone won't even restore. I keep getting another error saying restore error.
What can I do and are others having this happen evey time? How can I prevent this

It will not wipe your music. The files are kept seperate from the iTunes program files.
So long as you preserve your iTunes library file you won't have to redo your playlists either.

OS update failed

My macbook is set up to receive auto updates and tonight it said there was an OS update. I attempted to download it but it said the update failed (it has done this once before with no serious complication). However, now when trying to start up MacBook I can't get passed the blue screen. The gray apple screen takes forever, then blue screen and nothing else. I have tried holding the shift key during start up, but then it just sits on the gray apple screen and doesn't even get to the blue screen. Any thoughts?

if your trying to get into single user mode, the key combination is command + S.
Then run the commands described on the bulletin:
Type these commands, each on a single line followed by Return:
/sbin/fsck -fy
#if fsck repairs any errors - keep repeating until it reports no more errors#
/sbin/mount -uw /
rm -rf /System/Library/SystemConfiguration/ApplicationEnhancer.bundle
reboot
If that doesn't do it, then you will need to archive and install.

Premiere Pro CC Update Failed, CC App Install Failed

Every time I try to update Premiere Pro CC I get an error message and I am told that the update failed. I read on the forum that by uninstalling and then reinstalling the application manager the problem could be solved. Well, I uninstalled and then when I tried to reinstall I was told that that had failed as well. Does anyone know what I can do? I'm working on a mid-2010 Macbook Pro running OSX 10.8.5

I have the same problem and have tried unstalling/re-installing the application manager. Doesn't help. Premiere Pro update still crashes at 50% point. I tried going online with a tech support guy from Adobe but he was no help at all. I'm worried that we are going to miss important updates in the future.

This has solved loads of people who have this issue and have used an alternate DNS setting. Below are instructions for both iPhone OTA and on you Mac
If you are getting the error message "Unable to check for update" when you try an OTA (over the air update)
Change DNS Servers
Settings -> Wi-Fi
Click the blue arrow on your connected network
Delete everything in DNS and replace it with 208.67.222.222, 208.67.220.220
Try again
If this works, you will probably want to remove the WiFi network using "Forget This Network" and then reconnect to it to get your original DNS servers back. Alternatively, make a note of the original DNS servers before deleting them and replace it after you are done.
If you are getting the error message "Unable to check for update" when you try through iTunes
On your Mac
Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, and then click Network.
Select the network connection service you want to use (such as Wi-Fi or Ethernet, unless you named it something else) from the list, and then click Advanced.
Click DNS, and then click Add at the bottom of the DNS Servers list. Enter the IPv4 address for the DNS server.

Tried to update to mavericks, installation failed.

I tried to update to Mavericks installation failed. I cmnd r, erased disk reinstalled ML online. Macbook will restart in safe mode only. The start up ding is clearly audible and the sound device is recognized in system report. But system settings shows "no output device found". Video is super slow. I have reinstalled ML for the second time with the same results. I cannot access diagnostics with the "d" key at start up and have ran out of options. My MBP is a 2.66 Ghz intell core 2 duo 4GB and was working great before the attempt to upgrade. Help! thanks.

Linc Davis is a very smart guy on here, and his recommendation in that thread is to reinstall the OS. I'd suggest a backup first.
