Mavericks 10.9.5 upgrade - cannot print via wifi anymore

I upgraded Sept 20th to Mavericks 10.9.5 and now I can no longer print via wifi to my Epson XP-410. I tried uninstalling/reinstalling drivers and utilities, rebooted the printer, rebooted the computer, etc. I then tried printing via USB cable and that worked fine so its just the wifi printing. My other computers (windows 7 and OS X 10.7.5) work fine.

Unfortunately this didn't help me. I had already uninstalled the Epson software/drives and so ran the disk utility repair permissions twice -- once with the Epson driver/software uninstalled, then reinstalled the Epson drivers, and then ran repair permissions again. I rebooted and repeated the driver install & repairs but nothing works. Basically when I get to the Add Printer screen (either via in the install steps or manually in the System Preferences -> Printers & Scanners screen, the printer never shows up in the list to select and add. Next time I'm not upgrading my OS; I should have known better as I've learned with my iPhone and iPad that all those upgrades do is break my working devices . I still never resolved those issues so am unhappy right now with Apple.

  • OfficeJet 7500 won't print via WiFi anymore even though pings are successful

This is a new OfficeJet 7500 All-in-One that I have been trying to get set up over the weekend but have run into problems.
First here is the system data:
From the EWS printer information page:
    Product name: OfficeJet 7500 E910
    Product Model Number: C9309A
    Firmware Version: EMP1FN1126AR
From the Wireless Network Test Report printed out Jan 23 2012 9:07 AM:
No problems found. Congratulations on the successful setup of your wireless printer.
    Diagnostics Summary
    Wireless On: Pass
    Wireless Working: Pass
    Network Name (SSID) Found: Pass
    Security: Pass
Printer Settings Consistent with Wireless Router Settings: Pass
    No Filtering: Pass
    Connected: Pass
    Signal Quality: Excellent
Other networks detected matching your network name (SSID): No

    Disconnect count total: 32
    Disconnect count (last hour): 0
Disconnect count (last 24 hours): 5
    Channel: 1
    Configuration Summary
    [Shows correct network name]

IP Address: [It is static and working--pings are successful]
    Configuration Source: Manual
    Communication Mode: Infrastructure
    Authentication Type: WPA-PSK
    Encryption: Automatic (AES or TKIP)
The Network Configuration Report concurs with the info above and also shows that the nearest three 802.11 networks are at least five channels away from mine, but the fourth nearest one (with a signal value of -83: mine is -21) is the same as mine (channel 1).
The computer I'm using is a MacBook running OS X 10.6.8
    Things I have done:
Confirmed that MAC filtering is disabled.
Tried to figure out the router firewall. As far as I know, it is ordinary, and there are no other firewalls installed anywhere. I don't know how to determine if this is a firewall issue.
Rebooted everything many times, being sure to turn the router back on before the printer.
Uninstalled and reinstalled via USB cable the full driver package downloaded from the HP website.
Assigned the printer a static IP address.
Changed the channel in the router.
    Disabled and re-enabled Bonjour.
    Searched the forums.
The problem I'm having is that when the print queue says that the printer is ready and I send a print job, it looks for the printer a few moments and then says that the printer is offline. Nor can I print from my iPad or iPhone (although at first I could). At first I discovered a workaround by turning off the WiFi radio on the printer and then turning it back on, and for a very short time (a minute or two) after that, the printer would show up in the queue as "connected" and the job would print. This workaround no longer works. I don't know if any of the changes I made correspond with that.
Rebooting the printer is another workaround I discovered that continues to work, but only for a few moments. If I send a print job right away or a job is waiting in the queue, it will print it right after I turn the printer back on, but then everything goes haywire again. Rebooting the printer with the HP Utility window open produces alternating popup windows reporting attempts to connect to the printer and then reporting that it can't connect. They alternate at a sort of frenzied pace for a minute or so and then the "can't connect" popup stays. After a while, if the HP Utility window stays open, the frenzied popups return .The rest of the time the HP Utility says the printer is not available, even when pings are successful, even when I can access the EWS, and even when the printer is actually printing a job.
I can't seem to figure out what Bonjour is or what it does despite reading about it on the Apple site. Here is how it has been behaving: When I reboot the printer it shows up on the Bonjour list, but when I click on it there, it disappears and a Safari popup says that it can't find that printer server. Disabling Bonjour seemed to change nothing, and re-enabling it seemed to change nothing either.
So that's the data. Thanks in advance to whoever can shed some light.

    Hello Sindigirl,
Thanks for the detailed information. And from that information, I can allready see that we are dealing with a intermittent bonjour connection. Bonjour is the protocol that all apple systems work with, they have the option to automatically detect new devices in your network.
From what I can see, you did about everything humanly possible to resolve the issue. If however the router that you used always has worked fine and did not cause any network issue's whatsoever, the giving the router a powercycle should often resolve the issue if it is a bonjour compatible router, if possible, please report the manufactuar of the model that you have and its model number.
For a workaround so that you can at least print you can use the following steps. Please note however, that scanning will not work with the workaround, since this is bonjour dependant.
    [1] Go to Apple/sys. pref./Printer and faxing.
[2] Click on the[+] to add a printer
[3] Instead of [Default] in the upper tab, select [IP].
[4] Switch LPD (line printer deamon) to HP Jet Direct Socket.
[5] Fill in the printer IP adress at the the Option [IP]
[6] Leave the printing queue blanc
[7] Rename the printer [Should have the IP adress as name at the moment]
    [8] Leave location blanc aswell
[9] Select [Add printer software] If a list pops up, the use the filter to lookup the 7500 driver, if found or allready reported then click add printer.
You can now print without any issue via direct IP printing. Please let us now what router brand and model you got.
    Sorry for any typo's.
    Kind regards,
    van Baardewijk

  • Cannot print via network / HP 8000DN Printer

I have been racking my mind and searching support forums all over the web. I cannot print via my HP Laserjet 8000DN. I print over the network and do not have any way to connect it directly to my iMac. Everything worked fine with Tiger and when I did the upgrade I didn't think it was a big deal thinking I should have done a clean install anyways. After a clean install I had the same problem. Under the supported printer page for 10.5 it lists my printer however I cannot get it to install under the 2 listed drivers and also with the older drivers downloaded from HP. Please help. I print often and am just about to give up on 10.5 until 10.5.1 comes out. It's a $4000 printer and I am not going to buy a new one based on a driver issue.
Thanks in advance to all that help!!

  • Samsung CLX3185FW will not print via WiFi since installing Maverick OS

My MacBook PRO recognises failsto connectto teh printer via WiFi despite I have inserted the correct printer IP address when goiong through the process of adding the printer again. I can connect to this multifunction printer/scanner/fax. I can also access the printer itself via the "Open printer utility" in System Preferences > Printer & Scanners > Options & Supplies > Utility printer utilities and see the cartridges toner level but the printer is in "Sleeping" mode. All attempts to wake the printer up or resume existing jobs in the queue fail.
Not sure what else to try.
    Thanks for any help.

I have found the solution to this issue.
I connected the Samsung CLX3185FX directly to the router and switched the router on/off (not sure the latter is strictly required). I did not need to reboot the MacbookPro. This worked. Not only I could print but also, upon disconetting the ethernet cable form the printer, it all worked again wirelessly.
Probably this is has to do with the printer using dynamic IP and the inherent instability of this on the WiFi network. The direct ethernet cable connection printer-to-router fixed it. I waited for the printer to go on stand-by to see if it could be woken up for printing from the MacBook PRO, which was one of the issues I had after installing Maverick OS. It all worked fine.

  • Macbook pro with osx 10.8.5 won't find epson printer via wifi

i have tried every option i found on-line.  i inserted driver cd to no avail.  help with getting macbook pro to recognize printer via wifi please.

So Does Maverick Fix this issue?
Im trying to sort out my inlaws wireless printing issues. They have a mac running 10.6.8 works fine wirelessly and USB. They have another mac running 10.8.5 and this mac will not see the printer directly. I can print via mac 1 using a shared connection. But if you deselect mac 1 sharing options then mac 2 cannot see the printer. I can print via usb and via the shared connection using mac 1. But not directly.... So if Bonjour is no good on 10.8.5 does the update to mavericks fix it?
    Thanks

  • Difficulty printing via wifi

i have followed steps for setting up printing via wifi but unable to upgrade driver to required version. I have an HP Officejet 4620 printer.  HP no help.

I could not locate a Mt. Lion v10.7 driver compatible with your HP printer at the HP website but there might be an alternative.
Launch Image Capture located in your Applications folder.
See if the printer shows up under Shared top left side of the Image Capture window. Image Capture does support Wi-Fi printers.

  • Unable to print to printer via WIFI

    Hey Guys,
Did a search and read heaps of topics but didn’t find the situation that I have – so I hope one or more of you can help.
HP PC connected in a room about 3m away via Ethernet to Thompson TG782T. HP CM1312 laser connected to the HP PC via USB. Imac connected via WIFI. The Imac replaced an old Dell system also connected by WIFI. The Dell on windows XP could print via WIFI to the printer no problems.
Unable to print via Imac. HP PC running Vista Home premium. Printer sharing is enabled. Unable to even see the CM1312 in the Imac systems preferences.
Any ideas welcomed – thanks for your time..

The following is from Mac Help in the Finder's Help menu. Go to Mac Help/Index/P/Printers, adding and removing/Adding a printer shared by a Windows computer via SMB/CIFS
You can print to a printer connected to a Windows computer if it supports SMB/CIFS. The printer’s owner must set it up to be shared and use only the following characters in the name of the printer and computer: A-Z, a-z, 0-9, !, $, *, (, ), _, +, -, ‘, and . (period).
+To add an SMB/CIFS printer to your list of available printers, you need to know the printer’s workgroup name and (if necessary) the user name and password.+
+*To add a printer shared by a Windows computer via SMB/CIFS:*+
+1. Select the printer from the browser.+
+a. If prompted, enter the user name and password for the printer.+
+2. Choose the item appropriate for your printer from the Print Using pop-up menu.+
+a. Be sure to choose the correct printer model for the printer you’re using. For more information, see the documentation that came with the printer. If you have an HP PCL compatible printer that’s not listed, choose the printer model that most closely matches your printer.+
    +3. Click Add.+

  • Photosmart 5520 on OSX mountain lion wont print via wifi

set this up several times, having 'reset printers' etc etc, but it just will not print via wifi - just get a message saying printer is busy.
it works ok via usb cable - and it even works via wifi when printing a test page in utlities!
    totally stumped.

As much as I aware from my personal experience I came accross this model where a talk talk representiv has confirmed that the HG533does not support Bonjour.. I suggest checking that with talk talk.
You may try a temporary direct connection without using the router and check for any change, I believe that will work what means that the router break the connection.
To test such a connection follow step one below to enable wireless direct for the printer:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c03269394&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&product=5157536&tmp...
Next click the Wi-Fi icon, select Join other network and select Show Networks.
Select and connect to the Wireless Direct name.
Under Print and scan click the Plus sign, try adding the printer and check for any difference.
Once done testing reconnect the devices to your router..
Say thanks by clicking the Kudos thumb up in the post.

  • HT1695 My iPad will not except my Kodak ESP 1.2 printer via wifi any help please

My iPad will not except my Kodak ESP 1.2 printer via wifi any help please

Is that model a wifi printer? As far  as I know, there are no kodak printers that are air print enabled. So you have to use a third party helper of some kind.
Look on Kodak's site. They have options for various models. There might be an app that will help, I believe some models also work with google documents.
If none of those work then you can look to third party apps. I have Print n Share and it works with my iPad, but there's also Printopia and Print Central and I'm sure there are others.

  • Still cannot print via Moto Print Server after 10.4.3

I just sent this message to Apple via their Feedback page:
I have an older HP 5MP laser printer which is very reliable and has plenty of usefull life left. It has a parallel port and an Apple port. The new G5 tower I bought does not accept either of the printer's connections. I installed a very useful Motorola SBG1000 Internet Gateway device that includes a cable modem, ethernet router, wireless router and a printer server which allows me to continue to use the HP 5MP.
When I got the G5 all I had to do to use the print server was to plug it in and empower it using a browser page which access the controls of the SBG1000. When I would print from any application, the printer dialog box would refer to the SBG1000 as the printer name.
When I installed the latest update to 10.4.3 I cannot print to the HP at all. In Classic Mode, the Chooser can see the SBG via Appletalk but I can't figure out how to empower it from within Tiger.
I also have an epson PhotoStylus printer attached to the G5 by USB. It works fine and I can control it from the desktop printer application. However I still have many text only, black and white documents that should be printed on the HP 5MP.
What can I do to get this working again?
    Thank you!

    Problem resolved!
The Help Desk at Motorola assisted me to reinitiate the AppleTalk definitions using the browser-based interface with the SBG1000 gateway. All I had to do was to follow the add a printer steps and I was back in business!
Unfortunately, the next day I had a major hard-drive failure so now I am hosed again for a while. My G5 is in the shop to see if they can recover the drive's data.
I usually spend the day after Thanksgiving doing back ups and system maintenance but I couldn't get it to boot up.
Tried zapping PRAM, reset the memory management unit, reset firmware and ran the Disk Repair utility 4 times. Bummer.

  • No borderless printing; cannot print via imagebrowser...Please...help!

I can no longer print 4x5 borderless photos (or any photos) from imagebrowser to my i850 canon printer. I have version 6.0.2.38(7L) of Imagebrowser with Leopard installed on my Mac. I select the print option, and then it says to click on Page Setup for borderless printing. The only option I get there is 4x6 (with a border)??? There is no 4x6 borderless like I used to have with the old imagebrowser and system. I set up the print dialogue box to select the "best" picture (used to have a setting for high quality pictures???) and then I click on "Print" and nothing happens. It never goes to printer and I can't cancel or anything. I have to do a force quit. How do I just print a 4x6 borderless print using Imagebrowser on my Mac??????? Any help is greatly appreciated and thanks in advance!!!

    Gary Schnetter wrote:
I am not sure where to look for these drivers.
Both the Canon v4.8.3 and Gutenprint v5.1.3 are included with Leopard
I went to the Canon web site and downloaded the latest driver v4.8.3 and it put it where it needs to go but doesn't tell you where that is.
It would try to copy them to /Library/Printers/Canon/BJPrinter, but since the same files for this version would already there be, it might not do this unless the file being added are newer. It should also copy the package installer for the 4.8.3 to /Library/Receipts.
Anyway, when I went back into Imagebrowser I now have a much shorter list of options, plus do have the 4x6 borderless now. I click on Page Setup in Imagebrowser and select this, but when I go out of there and click on "Print" absolutely nothing happens. I still can't print from Imagebrowser. I use Quarkexpress and can print on plain paper fine so I know the printer works, but cannot print from within Imagebrowser for glossy prints. Any ideas what I may need to do?
Not really. I used v6.1 in my testing. Maybe your v6.0.x has a problem with 10.5. Also, if you upgraded from Tiger to Leopard and didn't do a clean install of ImageBrowser, then maybe this is causing the failed printing.
You mentioned you can print on plain paper from Quark. Can you print on plain paper from ImageBrowser?
My last suggestion would be to view the cups error log. With the i850 printer queue open, select Printer then Logs & History. This may give some clues as to why ImageBrowser is not working for you...

  • Cannot print via AirPort Express

I bought Airport Express a few days ago and have connected the ethernet cable and have wi-fi running. However I cannot print wirelessly (the printer is connected to AirPort Express via USB) and everytime I try it fails to locate the printer. This is because the settings are old (I used to hav my iMac as a base station but now the printer is not connected to the iMac and is now connected to AirPort Express). Could somebody tell me how I can fix this problem.
    Thank you in advance

Thomas I did find this on HP's Web site. But beside this you may want to look for other (GIMP printer drivers that may accomodate the wireless compatibility).. HP does state:
Is my All-in-One product supported via the Rendezvous/Bonjour protocol?
NOTE: Bonjour is the new protocol for Mac OS X v10.4.
    ANSWER:
HP does not offer support for any All-in-One product via Rendezvous/Bonjour, however some products might work when plugged into an Airport Basestation via USB. These products might work with the print functionality only. See the list below for such products.
