Mavericks and Logic 9.1.8

Question

Hi I just upgraded to Mavericks and now I am unable to load Logic. It crashes after telling me it will use the built in audio inputs.
On first opening when the Au manager started there were two plugins which failed. (basically just logic 9 and Kontact) These were all ok In Mountain Lion.
I do not have a time machine backup as the disc failed last week. I know I should have backed up before upgrading, but there you go
I could do a fresh install but Logic 9 and Mountain Lion are no longer available onnthe app store where I purchased them.
any help would be appreciated.

Well, the first thing I would have done is launch Disk Utility and run Repair Disk Permissions. It sounds like your problem may have been a permissions error and this may have resolved it. If that didn't help I would have next gone to my user>Libary>Preferences folder and deleted "com.apple.logic.express.plist."
Next step would have been to reboot the computer in Safe Mode or create a new user account to see if LE9 would launch.
Even though you trashed LE9 I would still suggest repairing permissions at this point. Also, do a Spotlight search for Logic Express to find any remaining LE files that you might want to delete . . . primarily preference files like the .plist mentioned above. Now restart your computer and try running the installer again.
Just an FYI, LE9 will indeed work in Mavericks. I used it briefly until I decided to get rid of Mavericks and go back to 10.8.5.
