Mavericks asking for administration password. I never had one.

My Maxbook Air which i bought from Apple.ca last year came with the latest Lion OS.
Now Im installing Mavericks its asking for an administrator  password which i never had.
Suggestions.
Ray Beck

After downloading Mavericks from AppStore it prepares installation files and it usually requires admin access to do so. I got a prompt asking for admin password as well. But you can just click enter ( return ) without entering any password if you didnt set one. And it should go ahead fine. If that doesn't help report back

    i cannot install recently downloaded Mavericks software on computer. it asks for admin password. i have never set up an admin password and was able to install programs by passing this step. any help isappreciated,

    Not having a password means that any casual passer-by can have access to all your personal data, or deleting it.

    If it's running Mac OS X 10.7 or newer, restart with the Command and R keys held down, open the Terminal, and use the resetpassword command:

  • I want to download an app, but whenever I click on it, it does the spinning in a circle thing but never asks for my password and never downloads, I want to be able to download apps again! What to do?

    I want to download apps, but whenever I click download, it does the spinning in a circle thing but never asks for my password and never downloads, I want to be able to download apps again! How do I fix this?

    Try a reset: Simultaneously hold down the Home and On buttons until the device shuts down. Ignore the off slider if it appears. Once shut down is complete, if it doesn't restart on it own, turn the device back on using the On button. In some cases it also helps to double click the Home button and close all apps BEFORE doing the reset.

    That password should be the one you used on the system *before* you do the upgrade.
    If you got the computer used from someone else, you need to get in touch with them and get the password.

    Have you tried turning your phone completely off and then back on?  After trying that you might want to Reset your phone by depressing the Sleep Button and the Home Button at the same time for at least 15 Seconds.  Then try your App Download again.  If those efforts don't work there are additional threads about various App Download issues you will want to review.

    This is your husband's app, only your husband can update it. Apps are forever tied to the Apple ID that purchased them. No other Apple ID can update someone else's app.

  • Updated ipad3 settings. after 'done' it asked for passcode. I never had a passcode. how to fix?

    I updated Ipad3 Settings. After the Done message, it said I was locked out and asked for a Passcode. I never had a passcode. How do I fix this?

    Do you mean you updated to IOS 7 and now you are being asked for a password. If so, at the end of the upgrade process I was asked to set a PIN number. You probably gave a PIN number and that would be your password.

  • Asked for administrator password during mavericks install

    Trying to install Mavericks.  During installation, I was asked to provide my administrator password.  I've never had a password on my Mac before.   I've tried my usual suspects, but nothing works.  I'm confident I've never set up an administrator password before.  Anyone know how I can get around this--or at least give me some hints on how I can recover the password that I'm sure has never existed?

    OK. Now I understand. There are certain operations that can not be done from a non-admin account if the admin account password is blank. It's been this way for quite a while, but you probably just never happened to hit on it before this.

  • Install Mavericks asks for Administrator's Password

    I've been trying to install Mavericks on my MBPro. It downloads, starts to install, but at a certain point (after agreeing to Apple's rules) it asks for an administrator's password. There is no place to enter the administrator's name...and no password works. I've tried my Apple ID pwd, my login pwd and every other password I can think of. I just keep getting the dialog box with one line...Administrator's password. It's frustrating.
    I've tried resetting the passwords, but nothing seems to work.

    Once I downloaded the update, I was unable to right click "run as administrator" from the exe file. How I was finally able to update to the newest version was to:
    * click the start menu
    * click search
    * type in firefox
    * scroll down to Firefox setup 7.0.1.exe
    * right click and select 'run as administrator'
    The rest was 'easy as pie'. Hope this helps those that had the same trouble I did.

  • Lenovo Solution Center (LSC.EXE) asking for administrator password

    Hello,
    On my ThinkCentre I have configured an administrator account and two user accounts.
    The machine is running Lenovo Solution Center.
    When working with the user accounts (no admin privileges) the LSC.EXE program keeps coming up and asking for the administrator password.
    Does anyone have a hint on how to stop this?
    Best regards

    There's no solution for it - this is by design.  LSC cannot function without admin rights.

  • Prompting for Bluetooth Password - I never set one???

    My blackberry 8830 WE is constantly prompting me for a numeric or alphanumeric password to connect to my Acura's Hands Free Device. The problem is, I never set one. How I can I either reset the password or disable the feature?
    Thanks!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Thanks for the reply on the default code. I determined that the issue was with the Acura and not the phone. I went in and deleted all paired phones. I still had issues getting through the voice prompts because it kept kicking me out. However, I finally was able to get through the prompts, establish a passcode, and reestablish my bluetooth connection. Not a fun process, but I should be good to go.
