Mavericks attachments issues.

Hi all, Ive just upgraded to Mavericks but am now having some issues with adding attachments to emails or even posting pictures to FB.  When I try to add and the 'search for file' finder box comes up the layout is very different and not very functional and some documents which should be available to attach are not.  'Tile' view displays nothing at all ??  Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.  It actually 'feels' like a fault but I definitely rule out stupidity on my part.

I was having this problem too, with Apple mail, facebook, anything that required me to attach or upload after upgrading to Mavericks...I went to my user settings and noticed that my account, which is an admin account, said "admin, managed" and the parental controls were enabled.  the only was I was able to change this was to create another admin account, log in to that account and remove the parental controls on MY admin account.  log off, go back to original account and delete other admin.  it won't show any files if the view is in icon view so switch it to list and it should show everything.  I also can't attach anything that is in my downloads folder.  not sure if that is a new thing with Mavericks or if it's always been that way.  no problems since, knock on wood, but I just figured this out last night.  I also repaired permissions before I figured out the admin problem, that allowed me to attach SOME files, but not all.  try to admin thing, hopefully it works for you!
Reply back to me here and let me know if this worked for you!

  • Mac OS Maverick - Outlook issues

    Hi everyone
    I have 2 issues in MS Outlook (I'm using Mac OS Maverick)
    Firstly, When I go to the search bar and type anything, the search doesn't work. There is no error. It just shows 'No results found'.
    Secondly, I'm getting a few mails on my outlook where the MS word, MS excel, MS PowerPoint attachments are being converted to .dat file format. And this .dat file isn't opening.
    Please help!

  • Gmail / apple mail, assuming mavericks upgrade issue. Messages from/to and subject header do not match displayed message

    Hi Everyone
    Hoping someone has had a similar issue and can help me sort it out.
    Since Upgrading to mavericks a few weeks ago, I notice the follwoing issue in my apple mail when searching older messages (newer ones seem fine at the moment).
    A lot ( I cant say all, but quite a few well into the 80-90% plus of messages sent pre update) have gotten scrambled. I can search from/ to and subject headers, and they correspond with each other. But when i select the message Im looking for, the message desplayed is from a different sender (with a diferent subject)
    Ex I search for JohnDoe (happens if i use search function or just go manually looking thru folders) and subject "Quote", Message comes up (or I find as in manual search). When i select the message the message displayed is not the correct one. Its From JaneDoe with a subject "Thanksgiving" and its message.
    Obviously making it a little tricky to track down previous emails.
    My mail provider is Gmail (which I have heard mavericks / apple mail have been having lots of issues with).
    Hopeefully someone knows what I can do
    Thanks
    BigRed81

    Hello BigRed81,
    I have a question on this subject.  I am having the same issue.  I followed the link to the support page for rebuidling a mailbox.  It states :
    "When you rebuild mailboxes for IMAP and Exchange accounts, locally stored messages and attachments are discarded, and the messages and attachments are downloaded again from the server to your Mac. Your mailbox appears empty until the download is complete."
    I use gmail just for my Inbox.  I pull off all of my messages from the server by filing them on my mac.  So my concern is if I rebuild a mailbox, my mail account is gmail imap, and I do not have copies of my emails on the gmail server anymore that I will lose the majority of my mail because there is nothing to download again.
    Do you know if this will happen?  Or I should not be concerned?
    Thanks
    Mykol

  • Installation of Windows 8.1 in the Maverick Bootcamp Issues

    When installin the Windows 8.1 on the Bootcamp partition of the OS X Mavericks. I have removed the original optic drive and placed it in a seperate case connected USB. The Bootcamp 5.1 (and 5) have both been used to attempt the installation. The Bootcamp partition is created. Once the two check boxes have been selected (I have assumed that the first check box must only be done once in order to save this to the USB flash drive). Upon the Bootcamp Assistant recognizing this installation a pop up will tell you to give the disc a few seconds to recognize the you click the OKAY box. The desktop will fade out and the Apple loader (circle will be in view). The desktop will then reboot to what appears to be the installing of the windows disc. Upon the self reboot the screen will go to a quick gray (5-10 seconds) then default to a Blackout screen with a flashing cursor in the top left corner (this is the same quick screen that occurs whenever WIndows 7 or 8 is in it's boot initial start). Now from hear the installation never continues. At this point I have tried the methods and have spent 8 hours with both the LeveL 2 technicians at APPLE and MICROSOFT. To no avail!!!! There would appear to be a conflict between the Windows EFI files at booting the windows and the Bootcamp assistant installation commands for the partition booting for install. Nobody as of yet has come up with the solution or answer/fix. If anyone has seen this or has found a work around for this issue. Please feel free to post. I feel this is either a very simple issue that we are all overlooking or this has not been addressed as of yet. As I understand both parties are saying that they have been getting many calls regarding this issue but have not understood why it is occurring. I will be will to post different scenarios that have been attemted. Again if anyone has seen this and/or found a way to make this work please post you methods and/or thoughts. Oh by the way, all of the installations directions dealing with the Windows step by step instruction from both Windows and Apple have not worked. If the hard reboot is done and holding the option key (therefore giving you your drive selection options) you can see the Windows disc in the external drive but it will not boot to that drive. This leads us to believe that the USB is the conflict with the Windows EFI files. We have attempet this also from the Flash drive installation using the .iso but upon the hard reboot/option start the flash drive .iso file is not available for disc selection. This has led me to think that a .iso copy could be placed on the new bootcamp partion (in the Disk utility application) but I am uncertain if this could be booted form the hard reboot/option startup. Just some thoughts. So again, our final stage is staring at a Black screen with a cursor flashing, oh and there is no keyboard entry recognized at this point. In order to exit you must hard reboot/option restart to get back to the Mac HD. Looking forward to your ideas folks!

    Okay, new update! As of today, I have been able to finally create a .ISO bootable flash drive that contains the new Windows 8.1 Pro. Once the bootcamp partition has been made I can now interrupt the reboot process and using the Option Key select the new EFI bootable Windows disk (on USB) it's orange. The Windows begins to load and takes me through a few steps of selecting language and enter the product key. Then we move on to the selection of the partition that is to be used for the installation of Windows. Here is where I have tried several different types of things but have not been able to get through to the installing. Depending on what selection was made during the Bootcamp partitioning installation from my Utilities in Mavericks will depend on the faults that I get. If I choose to erase and make a new installation on the new bootcamp partition then during the Windows installation (at the partitioning step) I will get the error that Windows cannot be installed on the MBR disk (Master Boot) and must be done on the GPT disk. If I try any of the disk options at this point it will either delete the partition (and cannot ADD a new partion) therefore I am forced to return back out to the Mac HD OS and restart the Bootcamp process OR If in the Bootcamp set up I choose the first option to make a partition for the Windows installation then once I get into the partitioning set up for the Windows install it says the same thing. Now I have also attempted all of the other options even the load drivers option (assuming that maybe this will allow me to load disk drivers to read the Bootcamp HD) Nope, still no continuing on to installation. I have read many days on several other methods used in the Forum. By the way, thanks for all the posts it has allowed me to be able try just about everything to include the cloning of the Info.plist files and teminal authorizations for USB and so on. I'm not a supertech but have been able to find my way around with some difficulties. The real issue here is that Apple and Microsoft have yet to make this process  very easy even for someone who has some experience with this. I have loaded Windows 7 on several other Macbook Pros operating earlier versions of the OS X but this has become absolutely too time consumming to ever wish to continue to operate MAC products in my preferred Windows. I have used other 3rd party boot patitioning programs such as Parallels and VMware. My experience with these types of programs make the install process much easier but in time as different OS software updates are applied these programs tend to have different problems forcing the user to make odd corrections at the most in opportune times. If there is anyone that has any information to further my progress I am all ears to see what may be the fix!

  • Mac Pro 5,1 Maverick OS Issues

    Well here's to my first post! I've kept up quite a bit with the forum but haven't really had a chance to contribute! This is a pretty tricky issue as it seems there's a few of you with a similar issue out there but not really anyone has come up with anything to get it fixed. Maybe we can figure this out..
    So I've owned a Mac Pro model 5,1 (MID 2010 model) since about 2012 and have had not many issues really AT ALL with it until I needed to upgrade it to Mavericks. Now I'm super hesitant to update to Yosemite for sure.
    I run a lot of professional audio programs such as, Logic Pro, Logic X, Ableton Live, Cubase, Pro Tools, Etc.. As it's main job is music production on a daily basis. Currently, this bad boy runs on 32gb of ram, a 960gb Solid State hard drive for my main drive, and 3 internal 2TB HDs. 2.4Ghz 8-Core Processor Intel Xeon.
    When I updated to Mavericks - Logic 9.1.8 tends to be VERY unresponsive at times (even getting the pinwheel for a bit). Right-click menus within the program are slow, the EQ itself is lagging as well as meters.. SUCH a bugger and really annoying! Even Logic X seems to show some instability.
    Now here's the kicker.. I have a Macbook Pro laptop with the exact same programming setup and everything runs smoothly on it. Everything! The processor is pretty quick i7 on it, but I don't see why that should have ANYTHING to do with it.
    I've upgraded my ram, swapped hard drives, reinstalled Logic and STILL this issue is occurring. I feel like I've tried everything. Anyone care to chime in? Any success stories yet?

    Hi ...
    A Safe Mode boot deletes some system caches that may help after an OS X upgrade.
    Top left corner of your screen click the  Apple   > Shut Down.
    After your Mac shuts down, wait 10 seconds, then press the power button.
    Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold down the Shift key. You should press the Shift key as soon as possible after you hear the startup tone, but not before.
    Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple logo and progress indicator.
    Once you are in Safe Mode, go back to the Apple  menu. From the drop down menu click:  Restart

  • Mac OS 10.9 Mavericks WiFi Issue

    Since I have upgraded to Mavericks I have experienced a problem connecting to wireless networks, all wireless networks regardless of security settings.  The system displays the exclamation mark and doesn't get an IP address from the router.  I have discovered a work around but it is very inconvenient and I would really like to get to the root cause and resolve the problem.  Here is what gets my WiFi working;
    If I boot into safe mode, ie. hold down the shift key during reboot, WiFi connects normally.  After logging in to my laptop account I reboot and again the WiFi connects without issue.  If I then have to reboot the system again I will experience the same issue in receiving an IP address from the router.  In order to connect again I have to first boot into safe mode, etc.
    One other note, if after booting into safe mode I reboot without logging into my account the issue is not resolved the sequence must be;
    1) Boot into safe mode
    2) Log into account on laptop
    3) Reboot normally
    Anyone have any ideas why booting into safe mode and then immediately rebooting resolves the issue?

  • Mavericks permission issues with Windows Server deduplicated shares.

    We have a number of 10.9-10.9.3 - Mavericks - machines installed throughout our facility. Much of the user content is pulled from shares stored on our Windows Server 2012 fileservers with deduplication enabled. I have found that files newly written or unoptimized are able to be accessed without issue - read, written, modified, etc. Once the file gets optomized/deduplicated and Windows adds the P & L attributes - sparse and symlink - the Macs running Mavericks begin to have access issues.
    Once the files get deduplicated, users begin receiving read access errors when copying files (see error1 below). This happens when copying to folders within the current folder tree or copying somewhere to the local system. If you 'stop' the copy operation and retry a few more times, it may eventually work for the specific instance but fail again later. I am however, able to copy these files without issue via the terminal.
    Other systems running 10.7 do not experience the same issues and are able to access file server resources without issue. Many of the systems having issues are newer and thus not able to be downgraded to 10.8 or 10.7.
    I have tried finder replacements such as Pathfinder but the results are the same. I know this is at least similar to the issues many Mac users are already experiencing and posting about but I haven't seen it directly linked to deduplication and the attributes written by Windows server. Has anyone seen this issue? Have any solutions been found?
    Error 1:
    When copying files after the PL attributes have been set by deduplication.
    "One or more items can't be copied to "Foler" because you don't have permissions to read them.
    Via the system.log, I am also seeing the following error when accessing these deduplicated file shares. The reparse point tag listed below is "IO_REPARSE_TAG_DEDUP"
    Reported error:
    "smbfs_nget: filename.ext - unknown reparse point tag 0x80000013"

    This is a 'known problem' as discussed on the MacWindows site, see http://www.macwindows.com/More-on-OS-X-conflicts-with-Windows-Server-Deduplicati on.html
    It appears to still affect Mavericks 10.9.5 at least from the lack of any positive reports to the contrary. It is perhaps a bit late but it would have been worth signing up for the public beta of Yosemite and testing that and if needed reporting it as an issue for Yosemite as this will be getting more bug fix attention than Mavericks now.
    I would agree turning off de-duplication is not a desirable solution, however other possibilities to consider are installing the standard Samba software on a Mac and using that instead of Apple's SMBx software. This is done by using the SMBup installer See http://eduo.info/2013/07/13/smbup-faq it does not officially list Mavericks but I did see at least one report that it still worked. A second possibility is to install ExtremeZ-IP which installs an AFP server on to your Windows Server and also gives the bonus of supporting Spotlight searches.
    Note: You should only try SMBup on a test setup first.

  • JSPWiki - Attachments - issue with IE browser

    Hello,
    We are having issues with uploading and downloading attachments using JSPWiki using IE browser.
    It works perfectly with Netscape/Mozilla/Flock browsers.
    jspwiki.properties -> we set the following attributes:
    jspwiki.baseURL = http://localhost:8888/JSPWiki
    jspwiki.referenceStyle=relative
    jspwiki.attachmentProvider =BasicAttachmentProvider
    jspwiki.basicAttachmentProvider.storageDir =C:\\Data\\jspwiki\\NewJSPWiki
    With the above settings, when using IE browser, it still uses absolute path when file is uploaded and shows href'd attachment name with target as:
    http://chq006103:8888/JSPWiki/attach/JSPWiki%20Welcome/C%3A%5Cinnovatorlille93.jpg
    Whereas in Mozill and other browsers - it correctly shows href'd relative url:
    http://localhost:8888/JSPWiki/attach/JSPWiki%20Welcome/innovatorlille93.jpg
    When we upload a file, it is uploaded under the full name (the full absolute path of the file (from C:\.....<filename>)) - only when we use IE browser.
    This does not happen with the other 2 browsers.
    Thus, we are unable to download the file.
    Any immediate help is highly appreciated!
    Thanks!

  • Mavericks Upgrade Issues

    What are the issues, if any, in upgrading to Mavericks? Have bugs been minimized? Equipment incompatability? Software incompatability?

    Have bugs been minimized?
    I've not encountered any bugs myself.
    Equipment incompatability? Software incompatability?
    No one here can answer that as no one knows what equipment or software you have. You will need to check with the manufacturers/developers on the versions which are or are not compatible.
    FWIW, your profile shows you are running 10.6.4 - you will need to update to 10.6.8 to get the app store so you'll be able to download anything from there.

  • OS X Mavericks Calendar issue

    After upgrading to OS X Mavericks, when I open my calendar on my MacBook pro it endlessly says "Moving calendars to server account..."
    I cannot acces calendar, and must force quit.  I have restarted my computer and upgraded Firefox and Safari.
    How do I get my calendar back?

    Re-Selecting a "standard" Date/Time/Number/Currency Format using:
    System Preferences > Languages & Text > Formats
    Choose one off the list that is NOT the same as the one you typically use, and Save changes.
    Then try resetting the Date & Time and Time Zone.
    Then change Languages & Text to the settings you typically use and Save changes.
    this resolved the issue.. But in the process i found out that if we select indian national then the time automatically goes back to SAKA and 1935. I suppose this is a bug for the selection indian national in the settings. Apple probably should address this.

  • Mavericks compatibility issues with third party displays

    I just upgraded from mountain lion to os x mavericks v10.9.3.  I use a three-year-old macbook pro with two peripheral third-party displays, each of which is connected to a Diamond adapter which I connect to a Belkin hub that connects to the computer.  I had no problems with Mountain Lion after I upgraded from Snow Leopard once I downloaded the Diamond adapter drivers lost in the upgrade.
    Now that I've upgraded to mavericks, only one of my two peripheral displays is receiving a signal.   An apple tech advisor suggested that mavericks might be incompatible with the Belkin hub.  I haven't been able to reach Belkin on this as yet.
    Anyone experience this issue and have a fix for it?

    The [Note 1051764 - GEN: Skip employee for 3PR evaluation|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1051764] may help you.

  • Mavericks upload issues

    I have upgraded my early 2009 Mac Pro, 2011 mini, 2012 mini, & my 2012 Macbook Air...  I can't upload anything via web browser on any of them.  This is amongst all of the other common issues emerging as a result of upgrading to Mac OS X 10.9 Mavericks.  Is anything being done about this?  This seems like a sloppy upgrade in contrast to the precident Apple had set in the past.

  • Cfmail w/attachments issues

    Hi there,
    I have a basic html form where the user can add attachments.
    The action form uses cfmail to send an email to an address with the
    form contents as well as the attachment. However, I am having
    issues with this part and am at a loss. Do i need to do an upload
    first? or mim attachment? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in
    advance.
    My cfmail code looks like this:
    <cfoutput>
    <cfmail to="[email protected]"
    from="a test person"
    subject="Request for yada yada">
    Name: #form.name#
    Article: #form.text#
    <cfmailparam file="#form.file1#"> (If i actually put
    in /tmp/test.txt which is a file on the drive i am mapped to, then
    the cfmail works and delivers .. but this doesn't help me for other
    people and their attachments)
    </cfmail>
    </cfoutput>
    This never goes to the email address.. instead it goes to
    undeliverable with this log. (p.s. I use my actual email address
    for the 'to')

  • The whole saving message attachments issue has me ready to bail to Android!

    Why has this issue not been fixed yet? I am sick of my phone constantly filling up because someone thought it would be a great idea to save attachments I send as a seperate file that I apparently can not get rid of short of restoring ti factory new everytime it gets full. I have tried Phoneclean, deleting them al then backing up and every other thing I can find. If Apple wants to have it as a feature then how hard would it be to put a selection in the settings to turn it off.

    "Delete a message. Touch and hold a message or attachment, tap More, select more if desired, then tap . To delete all text and attachments without deleting the conversation, tap Delete All."
    "Delete a conversation. In the Messages list, swipe the conversation from right to left, then tap Delete."
    Yea, that's about the most useless information possible seeing as how they never really delete and jsut come back. Don't think read the manual is a bit useful when even Apples support don't know how to do it aside from restore to factory default.
