Mavericks can't be in stalled on this computer

My MacBook (2009 or 2010) stopped working on Friday after I was finally able to remove a stuck CD. I was getting the gray screen. I tried to repair the disk and was told it couldn't. I erased and reloaded MAC OS X. On start up when prompted to transfer from back up, I did so. Not all files are accessible since I was running Mavericks. I tried updating software and after the update I could not get past the login screen. I reloaded MAC OS X and then updated Snow Leopard only, not the other 3 updates it also wanted to run. I tried updating directly to Mavericks now that I'm at 10.6.8. The download took more than12 hours. This morning it says I can't install OS X Mavericks on this computer. I am now trying to download Mountain Lion which is what I purchased in August before upgrading to Mavericks in January. It doesn't show it's downloading. I restart the computer and when it came back up, the download showed in my dock as paused. I tried to resume but it wouldn't. So I cancelled, restarted and tried the download again. It doesn't show it's downloading but I think it is.
I have also tried to repair the disk again and it says it appears to be OK. I have done a hardware test and all seems fine.
How can I get Mavericks back on this computer and running well again???

I was able to get Mavericks installed. I erased again, loaded MAC OS X, applications, and iWorks; updated Snow Leopard and all softward, downloaded Mavericks, installed Mavericks, updated all iWorks apps and THEN loaded data from my back up. It worked.
I am looking into SSD. Why should I install SSD instead of another HDD? Is there a way to find out how unstable I am without installing new HDD or SSD?

  • ITunes can't run cover albuns in this computer

When I try to hear iTunes with the Cover Flow option, appears this message:
"iTunes can't run cover albuns in this computer". Do you know how to solve this problem? This problem is already extending to my iPod, I can't see all the cover music album that I have.

    Hi, tripa.
Have a look at this article in the Apple Knowledge Base and let us know if it brings you any combination of joy and/or satisfaction.

  • HT1420 My laptop crashed and I have authorized another laptop. I want to deauthorize the "crashed" computer but it is no longer working. All I can find is how to deauthorize "this" computer. Any way I can do that?

I need to deauthorize a crashed laptop that is no longer usable. I can only find how to deauthorize "this" computer. Can anyone help?

You need to use the Deauthorize All function. Remote individual deauthorization of a crashed computer isn't possible, and remote deauthorization of a working computer requires VNC access to it.

  • I can't install OS X on "This Computer"

When I try to install OS X I get a message saying i "can not install OS X on this computer". I just got this refurbished Imac8 is it possible that it won't work for me?

    Model Name:          iMac
    Model Identifier:          iMac8,1
Processor Name:          Intel Core 2 Duo
    Processor Speed:          2.8 GHz
Do you need a serial number and all that crap too?
And I do not have 10.6. I am running on 10.5.8
Could be the disk was shipped with another model, but I can't even install a torrent from an external hardrive.

  • HT1386 When I plug my iPhone into my iMac via USB I can choose to "back up to this computer".  On another sync to my iMac, can I choose to " back up to the iCloud"?  This way I could restore all my info and settings from either source.  Is this possible?

When I plug my iPhone into my iMac via USB I can choose to "back up to this computer".  On another sync to my iMac, can I choose to " back up to the iCloud"?  This way I could restore all my info and settings from either source.  Is this possible?

On the phone, under Settings > iCloud you can select to turn iCloud ON or OFF.
One iTunes, it senses that toggle and if you had selected iCloud it will say backup to iCloud. Here you can change the toggle to backup to computer and click "Apply" prior to syncing.
I do both for good measure. I backup to computer and then after i disengage the device from the computer, I set the iCloud toggle back to ON and then perform the iCloud backup over wifi.
I found that using iTunes and saying to backup to iCloud isn't always successful in the "last backed up" time and thus I do it separately.

  • I can't access my library on this computer. How do I get support that I makes sense?

What am I supposed to do here? I want to be able to sync my iPod Classic but I can't get any library information. Sorry, but this is getting to be more and more BS. I hope you all enjoy discussing my problem. If anybody can help me, let me know if there is some way to do that. Thank you.

Just so you understand this correctly, this is Support - here. However, your question needs to makes sense, and for that, we (or at least I) need more information.
    To add to TheGraywolf's post:
What do you mean by "Can't access your Library on this computer"? If you mean songs that you've purchased from the iTunes Store, have you authorised your computer so that songs download from the Store?
If you can't "access" the Library, do you get an error message when you try? What does it say? (Precise text please.)
Have you previously been able to access this Library?

  • Mavericks: "System Events" would like to control this computer using accessibility features?

I just installed Mavericks on my MacBook Pro and was in the process of exploring changes when suddently this message popped up:
    - "System Events' would like to control this computer using accessibility features. Grant access to this application in Security & Privacy preferences, located in System Preferences.
The two choices offered are "Open System Preferences" and "Deny."
Any idea why this would be triggered?  I don't like clicking to grant access without understanding what's going on.
    Thanks.

Only if you want intrusive, incompatible, memory hogging software on your Mac.
Would this open a back door up to Google?
    Yes. More than one.
Google software (Chrome, Google Drive, and Google Keystone Agent in particular) is bad news for Macs, and a frequent flyer on these discussions.

  • Can I Use Adobe Photoshop On This Computer? Help

    Model: Presario CQ57 Notebook PC
    Process: AMD C-50 Processor
Installed: memory (RAM): 2.00 GB (1.60 GB usable)
System type: 64 bit operating system
Says 180 GB free on boot drive which I know is discouraged to be using the boot  C drive but I don't understand why photoshop will not work if I have freakin 180 GB available but, then again I'm not a techie. I also have 1.60 GB on D drive but both are not enough as I can barely do a single function without a loading screen coming up. If anyone could help me out that would be so great. If you even know about other programs that could do something like create a professional looking header to upload to a website that is also greatly appreciated.
    Sincerely,
    an EXTREMELY frustrated photoshop user

First off thanks for responding to me. The issues vary Pat. Each time I open the application from this computer it is either criplingly slow or crashes the computer all together. What I was looking for as an answer to my question would be a point in the right direction for compatible computers or advice if possible on how to speed up my system or optimize it. This computer is fairly new so I am really confused as to what specs and what computers have those specs in order to run photoshop. Newness of the computer doesn't really matter I guess...

  • How do I install snow leopard on a 2.1 ghz macbook with 10.5.8 Leopard installed?  I have a 10.6.2 unstall disk.  It says it can't install snow leopard on this computer.

How do I install Snow Leopard on my Macbook 2.1 ghz, with 10.5.8 Leopard installed?
I have the install disk for Snow Leopard 10.6.2, but when using it for installation, it
states that "Snow Leopard cannot be installed on this computer"!
I understand some features of iOS5 cannot be used unless my iMac and Macbook have
    10.7 Lion installed.  Correct?

It sounds like your Snow Leopard install disk is the disk that came with another model of Mac (grey lable with no pictures). If so, that's not legal and won't work. You need a retail (white label with the picture of a snow leopard) copy of the installer for each system that didn't come with Snow Leopard.
    Regards.

  • HT201317 How can i unlock my phone using this computer?

How can i unlock my iphone using my computer?

With the new IOS 7 therer has been what is know as an activation lock in which disables the user to restore the device to default settings without knowing the password to the apple id. Once you have restored the device back to default settings it will then ask you to plug in the apple id password. Once you have verified your identity with the apple id password you will be good to go!
    Good luck.
