Mavericks can't download forgot login password.

I have a Macbook Air mountain lion 10.8.5. I am trying to download Mavericks. The last step is to enter your login password. I forgot my password. I do not use a password when I open my Macbook. How do I get around this to download a free app from apple.

ktob2013,
you could follow the steps at this Apple Support page to reset your Apple ID password.

  • Can I create a login/password protection in Muse for a HTML5 page or two?

    Hi,
I'm new to Muse.  Can I create a login/password protection for
one of my pages in Muse?
    thanks,

PASSWORD PROTECTING A PAGE WITH A NICE BOX DESIGNED INTO YOUR PAGE
FINALLY, I'VE FOUND AN ANSWER TO PASSWORDING A PAGE OR SECTION WITH ADOBE MUSE WITH GREAT SIMPLICITY AND ALLOWING YOU TO 'DESIGN' THE PASSWORD BOX INTO YOUR PAGE!!!
Even better is that you don't HAVE to have username AND password (although you could if you wanted to), so just a simple PASSWORD box and enter button DESIGNED BY YOU WITHIN YOUR PAGE, rather than nasty popups etc.  Importantly, the password itself is NOT within the source code of your page either!!
The solution is at Jotform.com. I believe you can do this with a FREE ACCOUNT, although it's SUCH a great service for Musers that I paid for a proper account.
Before you do this, create a page on your site saying "Wrong Password. Please go away" or something to that effect. You'll need it for when they enter the wrong password.
So, in Jotform, you just create a new form and:
    1. Drag on a password box (it's in the power tools section)
    2. Select it and go to Conditions
    3. Go to Change Thank You URL after submission
    4. Enter: If [name of your password box] field EQUALS TO [enter your password]
    5. In the "Then redirect to" box, enter the URL of your protected page and click save
    6. In the resulting box click "ADD A NEW CONDITION" and do the SAME as stets 3 to 5 but this time say NOT EQUALS TO" with your same password and in the "Then redirect to" box, enter the URL of your WRONG PASSWORD page and click save
    7. Embed the button on your page and you're done!!!
If you want to mess about with the EXACT alignment of a right aligned button and text box, you can go to Preferences and in the box which allows you to add your own custom CSS, enter the following code and mess about with the values until it's perfect for you:
    .form-buttons-wrapper { padding-top:3px !important; }#id_2 {margin-left: -50px !important;}
Here's an example, built in Muse: www.hileytv.com/about.html
I hope this helps my fellow Musers!

    Hi Amanda,
If it's not a Firmware PW, then...
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Utilities from the Installer menu at the top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access the Menubar at top.

  • Why does mavericks keep asking for my login password?

why does mavericks keep asking for my login password?

Back up all data before proceeding.
Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Keychain Access in the icon grid.
Select the login keychain from the list on the left side of the Keychain Access window. If your default keychain has a different name, select that.
If the lock icon in the top left corner of the window shows that the keychain is locked, click to unlock it. You'll be prompted for the keychain password, which is the same as your login password, unless you've changed it.
Right-click or control-click the login entry in the list. From the menu that pops up, select
              Change Settings for Keychain "login"
In the sheet that opens, uncheck both boxes, if not already unchecked.
    From the menu bar, select
Keychain Access ▹ Preferences ▹ First Aid
    If the box marked
              Keep login keychain unlocked
    is not checked, check it.
    Select
Keychain Access ▹ Keychain First Aid
from the menu bar and repair the keychain. Quit Keychain Access.

  • How can I retrieve a Login Password

Hello. I have two login icons when I start my eMac. I am able to log into the main one I use all the time, . However there is another one on there that I believe I made up for a test of sorts. Now I cant recall the login password on this one even though it gives me a prompt question. Is there any way I can find
    the password for it? Thanks.

There is no way to retrieve a password, but you can reset it from the "Accounts" system preference if you are using an administrator account.

  • Updating to Mavericks - can I download the MacBook Pro retina 10.9.1 version?

    Hi,
I have a late 2013 MacBook Pro with retina display.
I saw that there's a specific version of Mavericks for my computer:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1712
My question: it's called an UPGRADE.
So is this link only for those who are already running Mavericks, and are just upgrading from 10.9.0 to 10.9.1?
Or can this link be used to move from 10.8.5 to 10.9.1?
I read that I can't download from the App Store with this computer.
PS: Do you think it's a good idea to run Disc Warrior on the old Mountain Lion install before upgrading, or would this be a useless task?
    Thanks!

That link is only for users who are already using OS X Mavericks.
All Late 2013 MacBooks Pro with Retina display come with OS X Mavericks (OS X Mountain Lion is not supported), so if you are using OS X Mountain Lion, you have got a Mid 2012 or Early 2013 MacBook Pro. As you have not got a Late 2013 MacBook Pro, you do not need the update you listed.
    Ocean 17 wrote:
(I heard you can't download from the App Store if you're on a late 2013 MBP with retina display.
(the terms "update" and "upgrade" seem to mean different things to different people - is moving from 10.8.6 to 10.9.1 an upgrade or an update or is it both the same?)
It's true. You cannot download OS X Mavericks from the Mac App Store on a Late 2013 MacBook Pro with Retina display because the available version is not compatible. However, if you are using Mountain Lion, you have not got a Late 2013 MacBook Pro.
Then, note that OS X 10.8.6 does not exist. The process to move from OS X Mountain Lion to Mavericks is an upgrade, because it's a new operating system. An update refers to a bug fix release or small features release, for example.
You do not need to run Disk Warrior before upgrading. Instead, you can verify that your hard drive is OK with Disk Utility (in /Applications/Utilities). Also, make a backup of your files with Time Machine and check that your apps are compatible > http://www.roaringapps.com

  • Forgot login password

hey guys! i just came home from a trip and before i left i changed my macbook pro 2011 password... stupid thing to do if you ask me, because now that i'm  home i forgot the password. It's driving me crazy, i've tried numerous times with different combinations of what " I think" it could be.. but nothing. Any ideas on how to reset it?

Put your install DVD into the optical drive (CD/DVD drive) and reboot. Be sure to either use the disc that came with your Mac, or, if you installed a later Mac OS X version from disc, use the newer disc. As soon as you hear the boot chime, hold down the "c" key on your keyboard (or the Option Key until the Install Disk shows up) until the apple shows up. That will force your MacBook to boot from the install DVD in the optical drive.
When it does start up, you'll see a panel asking you to choose your language. Choose your language and press the Return key on your keyboard once. It will then present you with an Installation window. Completely ignore this window and click on Utilities in the top menu and scroll down to Reset Password. After resetting the password use Startup Disk from the same menu to choose your hard drive for startup and restart.
If you're running 10.7 Lion check this article

  • Can't download apps after password reset

Why won't my phone download any new apps after doing a password reset? If I enter the wrong password I get an error message. If I enter the correct password, nothing happens.

    HI,
*"Or when I try to download a program I get this dark gray screen with a black column in the middle filled with gibberish."*
If it looks like this... it's a kernel panic.
Go here for help to Resolve Kernel Panics
Try downloading and installing the 10.6.2 combo update available here.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL959
One of the fixes: -- an issue that prevented opening files downloaded from the Internet
After the installation, repair disk permissions.
Quit any open applications/programs. Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac.
    And try Safari maintenance...
From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Empty Cache. When you are done with that...
From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Reset Safari. Select the top 5 buttons and click Reset.
Safari add-ons can cause performance issues or other situations
Also, if you are running Safari in 64 bit mode, try running in 32-bit mode instead. Right or control click the Safari icon in the Applications folder, then click: Get Info In the Get Info window click the black disclosure triangle next to General so it faces down. Select 32 bit mode. Quit Safari then relaunch.
While you have the Get Info window open for Safari, make sure it's not running in Rosetta.

  • Can't remember my login password

I know it sounds silly, but I haven't actually used my password to login to my computer in months, of course my hint is unhelpful and I've tried every password that I can remember.. I don't have the original CD's-- or can't find where I put them..
    Any suggestions?

  • Upgraded to Mavericks, can't download compatible version of iPhoto

Yesterday I helped a friend upgrade his iMac to Mavericks (from Mountain Lion), so that he could run the same version of iWork as was on his MacBook.
The upgrade went fine, except for iPhoto.
The existing version of iPhoto is too old to run on Mavericks, and the version he can download from the app store is Yosemite only.
I've had him follow these instructions: Install the latest compatible version of an app on an earlier version of iOS or OS X
But the version of iPhoto that he can download through the Mac Store Purchases tab warns him that it will only run on Yosemite.
My understanding is that old versions of software should always be available to download through the Purchases tab, so I'm assuming that this is a bug with the rollout of Yosemite and will be fixed at some point.
In the mean time, does anyone know of a way around this?
As far as I know there's no way to copy iPhoto from my computer to his?   And since everything is through the app store, I can't think of anyway I can download an installer for him.
    Would appreciate any suggestions,
    Adam.
PS. I am aware I could upgrade him to Yosemite but I'd much prefer to wait for 10.10.2 before doing so.

What I can suggest, is to update your OS to Yosemite.
Its supposed Apple is not going to give an older version of iPhoto just to run on Maverics because every Mac running Maverics is available to run Yosemite as well.
This is why I suppose you can't find a version of iPhoto to use on Maverics anymore.
This is my suggestion, an let me say Yosemite is an amazing OS, I'm using for months, since the 1st public beta.

  • HT4798 forgot login password ?

    Hi there,
I am trying to update a few programs like (Adobe Flash player 11.5), but when i try and install it its asking me for a password that i have unfortunetly forgotten
is there a way i can change this password without having to put in the old one in?

If you're running Lion, you can reset your password from the Recovery Partition. Reboot holding down cmd-R until you see the Apple logo - then release the keys. From the Utilities menu, launch Terminal, and type
    resetpassword
You will then be prompted which account you want to change the password for.
