Mavericks Download Error; can't resume or cancel

Against my better judgement, I finally decided to try to install Mavericks. It downloaded about 3Gb before I had to pause it, and now, when I've tried to resume it it just shows that there's been an error:
If I click the Free Upgrade button, I get the following message:
OS X Mavericks failed to download
Use Purchases Page to try again
I do this - I go to the Purchases Page and hit 'Download' ... and it shows the same bloody message saying to try the Purchases Page. Thanks, that's really useful.
So, I can't continue, can't cancel, and can't see any details of what the error actually is. I'm beginning to think Windows has it's plus points.
I have seen advice suggesting using Google's DNS servers, and I have had similar 'getting stuck' issues with XCode that were resolved by changing the network I was using - I have tried using Google's DNS, but that didn't change what I'm seeing.
Can someone tell me how to resume this, or at least bloody cancel it?

Not much detail here. What's the error? If  a connection one, use a wired connection to the Internet, If it says stopped or paused, retry. If something else, try http://www.apple.com/support/mac/app-store/contact.html?form=account

  • Mavericks download error message

I've made several attempts now to download Mavericks to my late 2009 27inch Imac with Snow Leopard. I keep getting a message :
Cleanup at startup file does not exist
I have no clue what this means. So I don't know where to begin to get my download working.
I am connected via wi-fi so would this be causing the error message i am getting?
Thanks in advance for your recommendations!

  • "Download Error" - Can't download/install any programs.

I downloaded CC on my Win 8.1 machine (after a windows crash and upgrade to 8.1).  Previously it was working fine (on Win 8).  Now the CC desktop app connects to my account but the Apps tab has a red exclamation error and when you click the tab it says "Download Error."  and to "Please contact customer support."  (See below:)
Apparently this seems to be a prevalent issue as I see multiple threads and support requests with this same error.
I got on Chat and followed all the troubleshooting advice, uninstalled, reinstalled, used the Removal tool, deleted folders from the AppData locations, everything.  Finally was getting ready to do something else and the Adobe server disconnected my chat session.
I know it is not MY internet connection because everything else is up and running fine, including streaming radio progams and other chat programs.
I tried visiting something on Adobe's siteand received the following error:
So what is going on Adobe?  I need to get my programs back so I can get back to work.
Edited to add - After another hour of being on chat support I got disconnected again.  Same error:  "Sorry, we're having technical difficulties."

So after four hours and dozens of troubleshooting issues, I figured out what was wrong.  I am on a fixed-wireless system at home.  I have used this same system and network setup in the past for CC.  My average DL speeds are 2.0 Mbps.  Not super fast but it has worked in the past.  On the 3rd or 4th chat session I was told that you can't use wireless with CC and I need to be on a fixed wired connection.  Finding that as rediculous as possible, I decided to test my network.  I logged off and used my AT&T CELL PHONE as a hotspot (which gets me about 4.0 Mbps download speeds, albeit with a higher ping) and VIOLA the Apps tab is there and I can download programs.

Getting error message can't retrieve essential parameter (1629.301.749), after Adobe Download Manager pop up for installation.  I have uninstalled/reinstalled flash player numerous times.  http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ notes I have the latest version installed, but I am unable to access full Adobe Flash Player functions on various sites such as Facebook, etc.  I can't find anything in the Adobe KB.  Any help is greatly appreciated!

I'm back.  The dwld worked for 2 days and now I'm back to the notification that I need to update my Flash Player.  I used the link you previously provided http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/fp_distribution3.html to download the .exe again, but I'm getting the same message for both Mozilla & IE.  As I previously stated, there is no file folder in the Registry for Flash Player under HK HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Adobe.  Does anyone know the KEYS for Flash Player, that I could add manually?

  • Mavericks download error

    Hi
I treid to download Mavericks and after 5 hours got an error message, possibly my weak internet signal, but now the App Store just records an 'an error has occurred' (very helpful!) and seemingly wont allow me to try again. What to do?

is the error 1004? (Try even if it is just the generic error too..)
    If so read this....
    http://blog.tom.aratyn.name/post/34276220486/mac-app-store-error-1004
and if that does not work.. read this...
    http://teknotes.urukhai.org/2013/04/error-1004-from-mac-app-store/
and if that doesnt work read this...
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4293
Some of the files listed in the above link may have changed locations in Mav and ML.. so use something like FindAnyFile to locate them.... if you cnanot locate them manually.

  • IBook (iPad 2) download error - can't get book to open

I went to the iBook Store and tried to download a 'Sample' of the book: Mac OS X Lion, by Robin Williams (Peachpit Press), but the download crashed.  I was left with a book icon with the little blue progress bar at 100% but it's stuck there.  Can't delete it, can't open it.  So I then decide to buy the full book and it's download crashes too.  When the book icon appears, I open it but it's just a book with two blank pages and no pages will turn.  I can get to the Contents page but every section heading is double-listed.  Clearly everything is messed up.  How can I solve this?  I don't want to trash the iBook app as I am in the middle of reading another book and don't want to lose my place or bookmarks.  Thanks.

Try shutting down the iBook app completely by double clicking the home button, when the multi-task window opens find the iBook app then hold you finger on it for a few seconds it will start to wiggle and a red minus sign will show up in the upper left corner tap the minus sign to close the app, then try the iBook app.

  • Can I cancel the maverick download and get it free at a later date

I already started the Maverick download. Can I cancel this and get this OSX Update later for free? If so how do I do this.

You may see about learning how to save the Mavericks installer to a USB flash drive for later installation, then do a backup (copy/clone) of your older system on an externally enclosed hard disk drive, and test it as bootable before committing the upgrade of the Mac to a later OS X system. A self-powered HDD and use a utility such as carbon copy cloner, is a good path; separate from any timemachine time capsule method.
And be sure the older Mac has adequate hardware upgrades to actually work as well as possible with Mavericks, should you choose to run it on an older fairly early model MacBook. Some users with investment in older software hold back on an upgrade past Snow Leopard due to the lack of support in later OS X versions for the vintage powerPC applications that worked in Leopard/Snow Leopard due to the inclusion of Rosetta.
Relatively current models from the past build year or two should have little trouble upgrading OS X, some would still do best with a good RAM upgrade; and if there is plenty of free space on the hard disk drive. And make a complete backup of your older system on a device outside of the Mac and one that will not be affected by an upgrade to the Mac's running OS X. A time-machine drive is not ideal in this instance, since it can't boot the Mac and would not contain all the previous OS X version.
A MacBook from 2008 is rather early compared to a recent build series MB or later MB/Pro, Air, etc. Double check RAM specs and get a quality set of RAM chips from a reputable reseller. Guides from http://iFixit.com can help install them, & http://mactracker.ca can help determine the MB configuration specs, upgrades, etc.
An 'identify by serial number' site can help find build details on your Mac:
    http://www.powerbookmedic.com/identify-mac-serial.php
Hopefully this helps at some point.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • Many download errors...

    Hi
Over the last 2-3 days we are unable to figure out why on different generations of iPads the Adobe Content Viewer stops the download of folios after 10-15% out of the total of the app. "Download paused" and when I resume it, the message is "Download error, try to resume the download later".
    We have tried everything, reinstallaing,...
Even log in is impossible since this morning.
    We are located in Belgium.
Our client cannot see the work in progress.
Does somebody else encounter the same problems?
    Thank you.

I am using OS X 10.8.5 but I'm having a hard time downloading Mavericks.
It keeps on showing that there is an error downloading.
    Can someone can help me?

Some have managed to resolve the problem by cancelling the download, logging out of their App Store account and then logging back in again and starting over. The same approach also sometimes works for a stalled download:
    http://www.wired.com/gadgetlab/2013/10/mavericks-issues-and-fixes/#slideid-23477 1
Also, if you are connected via wifi, try connecting via ethernet cable if you are able to. It's a 5.3gb download and it seems the more reliable the connection is, the better.

I tried to update my OS (Mountain lion) to mavericks, but i can't seem to download. There's a 'an error has occurred' in red beside the free upgrade bar.. what should i do?

It's possible something has become corrupted in your AppStore cache folder. I had the same problem that occurred after I did a partial download, paused it, and attempted to restart it again later. Here's how I fixed my problem:
    Enable AppStore Debug menu:
    1. Quit AppStore completely.
    2. Run Terminal and enter the following on the command line: defaults write com.apple.appstore ShowDebugMenu -bool true
    3. Restart the AppStore. You should see a new menu called "Debug".
    Clear the download cache:
    4. In AppStore, select Debug menu / Show Download Folder
    5. Quit AppStore completely, but leave download folder open
    6. In the download folder, select all files/folders, then delete them.
    7. Restart AppStore. You may need to sign in to your Apple account again.
You may need to restart your computer to be able to delete the files from the trash.
You can then try the download again.

  • Can mavericks download be resumed when installed from recovery screen

I accidentally erased my disk and now need to reinstall OSX Mavericks. I tried downloading the OS through recovery screen and after a while the download stopped (I guess my Internet connectivity was not stable). Now my question is, Can I resume this download ?

  • I was downloading Mavericks. Internet failed and now can't resume

I was downloading Mavericks. Internet failed and now can't resume.
I´ve tried several times and it says "OS X Mavericks failed to download"/Use the purchase page to try again. I went to purchase page but is impossible to resume.
    Could you help me please?

Whatever you do, DO NOT REFORMAT THE DRIVE. You can just get a small <500Gb EXTERNAL bus powered drive, dismantle it and follow the instructions above. If you already have one then that's even better.
The drive I'm showing here is the drive that used to be inside of my computer. It took apart an old 320Gb seagate drive. The connections on these drives are all universally interchangeable. They just add some circuits and a USB (or other) interface. I would just get the cheapest drive that you can get that is for laptops and looks simple to take apart. (This is almost exactly the drive that I did this too http://www.amazon.com/Seagate-FreeAgent-Portable-External-ST903203FAA2E1-RK/dp/B 001FWIE0K/ref=sr_1_56?ie=UTF8&qid=1343340447&sr=8-56&keywords=seagate+external+h ard+drive)
The "old internal" drive should still be able to allow you to install ML on the "new" drive as long as you tell it to. It sounds complicated, but it's really not once you get in there and start doing it. It was actually quite easy.

  • Download error for mavericks

My download for mavericks stops at 995.5 mb. Please provide some solution.

    Hi anujsehgal,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If your OS X Mavericks download did not complete, first see if you can resume the download using the steps below:
If downloading an app is interrupted
Once an Internet connection is reestablished, your purchased downloads should automatically restart. The Mac App Store may alert you that there was an issue with the download and ask if you'd like to restart the download(s). Confirming will restart all pending downloads. For more information on this topic, see Mac App Store: How to resume interrupted downloads.
See Troubleshooting the Mac App Store for more information.
    Best Regards,
    Jeremy

OS X Mavericks download has paused and will not restart. How can I get it to restart?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
First, see if the download is paused and if you can resume it. To do so, open the Mac App Store, go to Purchases and press "Resume" next to OS X Mavericks.
If the download does not carry on, I would recommend you to restart and start the download all over again.
