Mavericks download stuck at 995mb

Tried to upgrade to Mavericks on 27" iMac Late 2009; download stuck at 995MB. Tried rebooting , pausing/resuming, standing on my head, coffee etc to no avail. Worked for my MacBook Pro and my 21.5" iMac but not the 27". How do I blow away the part download and start again?

Ok, this is definitely an ISP issue. This can be solved by either using a VPN, or changing to a different ISP.
If you have no paid VPN service, use the free version of Hotspot Shield. Follow the steps below to set it up:
Pause the download and exit App Store.
Go to Activity Monitor and quit "storeagent" app, just to be sure.
Download Hotspot Shield for Mac.
Connect to it and launch App Store.
Resume the download, now it should work.
At this point, you can either download the entire OS X Mavericks update over Hotspot Shield, or go back to using your own connection. I don't recommend downloading over Hotspot Shield because it's slow, but if you can wait and don't wish to get stuck again, feel free to do so; Hotspot Shield has no bandwidth limit.
To go back to downloading OS X Mavericks using your own connection:
Pause the download and exit App Store.
Go to Activity Monitor and quit "storeagent" app, just to be sure.
Disconnect/exit Hotspot Shield.
Launch App Store, resume the download.
If you get stuck again, follow the steps over. Note that killing the storeagent is optional, it's the process which handles App Store downloads. I just added that to ensure the download isn't going on in the background after it is paused, which is known to happen in some cases.
Enjoy your Mavericks

  • Mavericks download stuck in waiting

I'm trying to download Mavericks and the app gets stuck in my launchpad on waiting. Sometimes after sitting in "waiting" it just stops trying to download all together. How do I fix this?

Well I'm in a right old pickle with it; trying to install on my snow leoparded out (10.6.8) Imac (7,1) here's what I've done so far:
Attempted download - stuck in waiting mode.
Attempted download from the purchases tab - stuck in waiting mode
Signed out and back in to the App Store, unhid purchases and attempted download from the purchases tab - again stuck in waiting mode
Looked in the applications folder in an attempt to remove any part-downloads - no sign of them.
Installed the latest installer - to no avail.
No Launchpad either to try as this install is Snow Leopard.
Network connection is fine - downloaded and installed mavericks through the router onto my other Mac... Macbook Air - Lion.
It's been six days now on and off I've been attemtpting this - very frustrating.
    Any help gratefully appreciated.

  • Why does my Maverick download crashes at 995mb

Why does my Maverick download freeze at 995mb

How are you connecting to your internet router, By Wifi or Ethernet cable?
If WiFi get an Ethernet cable and try that. Any drop out in the WiFi signal will cause the download to stop. Could be if you are using WiFi your WiFi router can't handle the large file transfer.

  • Maverick download freezes at 995mb

Tyying to download Maverick the icon freezes at 995mb, why?  Hown can I fix this?

If you find a way to fix this, lemme know. I'm so frustrated that my MacBook Pro updated just fine, but for some reason (on the same network connection) my iMac just times out at 995.6 MB.

  • Mavericks download doesn't work

I'm on OS 10.6.8 now, trying to update to Mavericks.
However, the download doesn't seem to work: for some reason it paused, and I can't get it to start again. Right clicking the Dock icon and hitting "Resume" or "Cancel download" doesn't do anything. The only thing I can do is drag the icon off the Dock, after which it disappears. However, when I try to retry downloading it, clicking "Install App" in the App Store doesn't do anything.
I've tried logging out and in, and even restarting, but that doesn't fix it. However, when I do log in, the Mavericks download icon appears in the Dock, saying "Paused".
I also noticed in the Activity Monitor that "kernel_task" uses most of my CPU all the time, even when I have no programs open. This never happened before I tried installing Mavericks. Could it be related?
    Please help!

Here's a screenshot of the Mavericks download, stuck on Pause.

  • Undo a mavericks download

I have downloaded mavericks however the software won't install and it won't go back to the older version. I tried to restart but it goes back to the instal page for mavericks. When I try to backup it is not able to find any backups saved and when I tried to use the control R it takes me to the Internet to recover but when it tries to download the older version 'lion' it won't allow me telling me that my macintosh  HD is locked and recovery Hd is locked too! I am stuck and I really need to use my laptop ASAP with all the info on it for work! Please help!

    Your # 1.
If it finished downloading then how is it still downloading????
Oh you mean it started the install of Mavericks.
What model year is your MBP. If Late 2011 or newer you have to boot from the ONline Recovery system, hold down the Command + Option/Alt + r keys at startup and keep them held down until you see a globe on the screen. Once that finishes boot up your Mac Use Disk Utility to Repartition the drive as one partition and whne that is done use your Time Machine backup to restore your Mac to before you started the Mavericks download.
If it is older than a late 2011 you will need to use the original system reinstall discs that came with you system to do the same thing.

    1. It finished downloading and it's in the download phase
    2. I am trying to find a previous version but unfortunately there isn't any!
    3. I meant to say command R
    4. The lion option won't instal because both the mackintosh and recovery he are locked.
What do u mean by erase? And how is the process ?  Will it erase my old information and
Pictures? What can I do to get my PC back to how it was with everything in it before the download option?
    Thank u

  • Mavericks download and Install on 10.6.8

    Hello All,
I am facing weird behavior for Mavericks download on my 2007 iMac. I have checked and it is matching the requirements given by the Mothership.
However, I have now downloaded it twice and the process fails to create the appropriate file in Applications directory.  I am left with the .pkg file and Retry dowload message.
The appstore purchases window has entry for OS X but without the Download button. This entry is removed once i click on Retry OR Cancel. The temp directory also vanishes.
I checked the MD5 hash on both the .pkg files that were downloaded and they are the same -- so in my view the download was good (all of 5.29 gb).
If I try to run the .pkg file, i get error while selecting the partition - it recognizes only the bootable partition for install.
Changing the .pkg ext to .app gives error for Classic application support.
So, I need answers / comments for
    a. Why is the download in .pkg format for me ?
    b. Why does it not recognize the empty partition for install (the method was suggested for Lion or ML earlier).
    c. How do i test drive Mavericks before I take the decision to upgrade.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Well, Just to update.  While I did not find answers to above questions, I did manage to install Mavericks using the downloaded package. It took  bit of command line skills to do it.
Essentially, I had to extract the dmg files from pkg file using 'pkgutil' command. Once I had the dmg, I created a USB bootable for mavericks and using that installed it on a separate partition for test drive. As of now, it seems to be working well. I have been able to run OpenOffice (3.x and 4). However, my HP printer des not work and HP has not posted a driver yet for my series.
All in all, I think I will wait for the major update on 10.9 before upgrading 10.6.8.

  • HT6150 i need the os x mavericks download, im on mountain lion, and i wish to obtain mavericks on my computer not yosemite

i need the os x mavericks download, im on mountain lion, and i wish to obtain mavericks on my computer not yosemite

You will need to contact Apple, try iTunes Support. Mavericks was pulled from the MAS when Yosemite was released and the only possible way to get it is by contacting Apple directly.
    good luck

  • How do you know if the Maverick download is happening?

I am now trying to download Maverick .. & have been hearing a whirring sound. But it starts then stops?
    - BUT I can't tell if it's done. I've kept the "page" on the screen, and the "download" button shows grey & it shows "Downloading"
    - BUT I don't see any circles, to show anything is happening.
    - NOR can I see anything on download in Finder. I've been checking the apple icon to see & it still shows Lion, 10.7.5 that I got in 2012. I have 4GB.
So, How do you know if the Maverick download is happening - & when it's done?
Last, do you have to restart the computer? I haven't been able to find a "how to" about this download.
    Thanks

With App Store open, purchases or updates pane (can't recall which), CMD+R to reload the page, and you should see a progress bar. Should look like this:

  • Paused Mavericks download a problem?

Will a paused Mavericks download affect a subsequent disk copy I wish to quickly make with Super Duper!?
Just read the problems encountered. Apology for this naiive question!

The copy will also have a paused download.
It shouldn't be a problem to resume the download, or delete it and start anew.
Mac App Store: How to resume interrupted downloads
    Open the Mac App Store.
From the Store menu, choose Sign In.
Enter your Apple ID and password.
Click Purchases to get to your Purchases Page.
Click the Resume button next to the app name.

  • My iPad won't download any music.it says download error. I have 100 downloads stuck on my downloads at the bottom of the page on itunes

My iPad won't download any music. It says download error try again. I have 100 downloads stuck on my downloads in iTunes store.

Remove the song in question from the sync list and see if the rectifies the problem.
If it does, then iTunes believes the song no longer exists on your drive and that will need to be corrected.

  • OS X Mavericks download has paused and will not restart. How can I get it to restart?

OS X Mavericks download has paused and will not restart. How can I get it to restart?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
First, see if the download is paused and if you can resume it. To do so, open the Mac App Store, go to Purchases and press "Resume" next to OS X Mavericks.
If the download does not carry on, I would recommend you to restart and start the download all over again.
