Mavericks Full Crash When Shifting Spaces

Question

What can be done about this? Is this a known bug? I'm on 10.9.1 on Macbook Pro 2.6 GHz i7 w 16GB ram. No connected hardware.
This has happened at least a dozen times since upgrading to Mavericks.  While working something happens that causes me to accidentally shift to another space.  But this shift cause the system to freeze.  Force Quit does not work, although I was able to take a screen shot.  The only resolution when this has happened has been a full reboot.   
I'm not seeing a Kernal panic listed in the logs. 
I saw logs at that time relating to:

It is very critical to delete all preferences when you do a major OS X upgrade. You need to go to your username>library>preferences and delete everything pertaining to PSE. To see that library in 10.9, open a finder window, click your user account in the list on the left (the little house with your name), and then click the gear wheel at the top of the window and choose View Options. At the bottom of the list of checkboxes you'll see Library. Turn it on and then you can easily find the preferences folder.
