Mavericks installer app

I have downloaded the Mavericks installer app from the App Store.
Ran it and installation went perfectly.
Now I want to find the installer app so that I can upgrade my wife's Macbook Pro....
I want to copy it from my machine to hers across our home network
I cannot seem to find it and really do not want to re-download a 5.5gig file.

Welcome to Apple Support Communities
OS X Mavericks deletes the Mavericks installer automatically after finishing installation. You will have to redownload the OS X Mavericks installer again

  • Preview app doesn't open anymore after Maverick installation

Since Maverick installation, I can't open my pictures in Preview. The Preview application doesn't open anymore. Neither does the App Store, nor the 'software update'
    Any idea what to do?

Go to your Finder "Go" menu hold the option key to choose "Library", then go to Containers folder and com.apple.Preview and delete container plist. Now relaunch Preview and test.
EDIT: Oops, 10.7... it may be in ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Preview.plist. I'm not running 10.7 right now.

  • Mavericks installer without using the App store

Where can I download a Mavericks installer without using the App store? My company has not sanctioned use the app store. I have admin rights and am allowed to upgrade myself if I am able to download a standalone version from the website. Which is what I usually do.

Of course. I should have been more specific. I meant from the Apple website. Typically, I have always downloaded standalone installers from http://support.apple.com/downloads/. However, the 10.9.1 updates you will find here require 10.9. That's my probem. I can't find a 10.9 standalone as I have been able to in the past.

  • I've lost my "coreservices/installer.app" - Mavericks - where can I get a download of it?

I haven't a clue as to why it isn't in the library/coreservices folder but it isn't
Therefore, when I try to install a .pkg it defaults to textedit !
    Thanks,
    BJ

System files do not just vanish, they require system privileges to remove.
The CoreServices Installer.app is not an independently downloadable component. You can get it back if:
You have a full system backup (e.g. Time Machine, etc.) and can retrieve Installer.app from there.
You know someone who is running your exact operating system version
Copy Installer.app to removeable media, and on your machine, put back in /System/Library/CoreServices
Run Disk Utility on your boot drive to verify/repair permissions.
Reinstall OS X on your machine

OS X Mavericks cant be installed to this computer." How can ı solve this problem!??

One way around tis is to borrow a Mac that can run Mavericks and then the download will work.  You can use these instructions:
    http://www.macworld.com/article/1167857/how_to_make_a_bootable_mountain_lion_ins tall_drive.html
Though they are for Mt. Lion, the same steps will work.

  • Trying to restore a Mountain Lion caldav.sql into a fresh/clean Mavericks installation

Call me cynical, but upgrades and Migration Assistant were never my thing. I'm starting to experiment with migrating some of my Mountain Lion OS X Servers to Mavericks.
Under OS X Server 2.2.x (Mountain Lion), I had a script that would individually backup the postgres_server databases, caldav, collab, device_management, etc.
I'm now working with a clean Mavericks installation and trying to restore the caldav db. Through the help of ~morgen, I've worked out that caldav seems to have its own postgres instance and I can see and view the fresh caldav database there:
    /Applications/Server.app/Contents/ServerRoot/usr/bin/psql -U caldav -h /var/run/caldavd/ccs_postgres_3d403b3009fe0c830944d87bd751fbe9/ caldav
So, I backed that up before proceeding with:
    /Applications/Server.app/Contents/ServerRoot/usr/bin/pg_dump -U caldav -h /var/run/caldavd/ccs_postgres_3d403b3009fe0c830944d87bd751fbe9/ -c caldav | gzip -c > /Library/Server/Backups/PostgreSQL/caldav.sql.gz
And then tried to use dropdb to drop it, so I could use createdb to re-create it and then use psql to suck in my Mountain Lion backup. The three intended commands in order would have been:
    /Applications/Server.app/Contents/ServerRoot/usr/bin/dropdb -U caldav -h /var/run/caldavd/ccs_postgres_3d403b3009fe0c830944d87bd751fbe9/ caldav
    /Applications/Server.app/Contents/ServerRoot/usr/bin/createdb -U caldav -h /var/run/caldavd/ccs_postgres_3d403b3009fe0c830944d87bd751fbe9/ caldav
    /Applications/Server.app/Contents/ServerRoot/usr/bin/psql -U caldav -h /var/run/caldavd/ccs_postgres_3d403b3009fe0c830944d87bd751fbe9/ -d caldav < /Library/Server/Backups/PostgreSQL/caldav.sql
    HOWEVER.... the first command failed:
dropdb: database removal failed: ERROR:  database "caldav" is being accessed by other users
DETAIL:  There is 1 other session using the database.

Any other ideas / suggestions / solutions?

If you knew your sql, I don't think it would be insurmountable to pull apart the full dump.

To be clear, I don't believe its Server.app. Each of these services stores its schema version IN the database and its checked every startup, and it would appear, that each service knows how to perform that upgrade at each startup.

  • How to keep downloaded Yosemite Installer App

RE: Create a bootable installer for OS X Mavericks or Yosemite - Apple Support (support.apple.com/en-us/HT201372) last modified 2/12/15
Related to the 3 steps beginning with  'Download the OS X Installer app from MAS', my experience (after  many attempts trying different things, including using terminal command, but was unsuccessful with that as well ... I have done this easily with Mavericks so I am somewhat familiar the process, as well) is that the downloaded Yosemite Installer proceeds immediately form installation to bootup, and there is no opportunity to 'grab' the install app before the installer deletes.  Like moving it to Utilities folder or renaming it.  Seems that with Mavericks, you would get booted in, and the installer would leave the App alone, until the first time you use the installer to install on another volume,  at which time the file gets deleted unless you have previously moved or renamed it. Would appreciate your thoughts. Probably me overlooking something, but have run out of ideas.
    Running MBP mid-2012 with 10.10.2

Thanks for your reply. Sorry for not responding sooner.  Nothing I tried worked, so finally (duh) contacted Apple tech support who provided these steps:
    (1) Bootup from internal startup volume (I had been booting up from external drive, and Apple tech support said no-no)
    (2) App Store>Purchases>Download OS X Yosemite (i.e., full OS X installer dmg file)
    (3) Logged in as Admin, use Terminal command line:
    sudo /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ Yosemite.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/Install\ OS\ X\ Yosemite --applicationpath /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ Yosemite.app
[where ‘volume’ and ‘applicationpath’ obviously must correspond to any changes to name/location of the downloaded dmg file.
    (4) As I remember, took maybe 45-60 minutes to complete creating the bootable installer on thumb drive (needs to be at least 8 GB).

  • Which Method of Making USB Mavericks Installer?

I use Mavericks OS X 10.9.1.  Which of the following methods should I use to make a USB Mavericks Installer/Re-Installer?:
    1. How to Create an OS X Mavericks USB Installation Drive: lifehacker.com/how-to-create-an-os-x-mavericks-usb-installation-drive-145028002 6
(this method performs a "clean install") do I need to perform a clean install?
    2. How to make a bootable install of Mavericks on Flash USB Drive? - MacRumors Forums: forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1649986
(does this method performs a "clean install?") do I need a clean install?
    3. The MacRumors Forums talks about "a copy of OS X Mavericks GM."  What is a "OS X Mavericks GM?"  What does GM mean?

Both methods are the same and are the steps Apple gives users to create a bootable USB drive with the Mavericks installer.
You only need to perform a clean install if OS X Mavericks is not working correctly. If this is not the case, you will just be reinstalling OS X Mavericks and you will keep all your files. To perform a clean install, first you need to erase the hard drive with Disk Utility.

Ignore that. OS X Mavericks GM was OS X Mavericks Golden Master, which was the final version Apple gave to developers. That version is not available anymore, and you will be downloading 10.9.1 from the Mac App Store.

  • MBP w/10.9.1, how to download the "Install OS X Mavericks" installer file

My MBP runs 10.9.1, would like to make a bootable recovery USB and need the "Install OS X Mavericks" installer to download from mac app store into the applications folder but it won't download because I already have mavericks installed.

You can redownload OS X Mavericks from the Mac App Store, so do it. You can do this even if OS X Mavericks is already installed.
However, if the Mac App Store says that OS X Mavericks is installed and you cannot download the installer, it means that you already have got the installer, so go to Applications folder and you will find it there. Then, use DiskMaker X to create a bootable USB drive with the Mavericks installer.
If you have got a Late 2013 MacBook Pro, note that you cannot download OS X Mavericks from the Mac App Store because that version is not supported. In this case, you cannot create a bootable USB drive, so you will only be able to reinstall OS X through the Recovery partition

  • Where can I download the Mavericks installer post-Yosemite?

I can't find the Mavericks installer on the App Store any more, and I don't have a copy on my hard drive. Is there somewhere else to download it from?
My Macbook Pro is a 3,1 and the latest install DVD that I have is Snow Leopard. It's running Mavericks now and both it and I are happy with this. But I'd really like to keep a copy of the installer for backup!

If you downloaded OS X Mavericks, you can still download it by opening the App Store and going to Purchases, so you can keep the installer on your MacBook Pro

  • Unable to install updates via App Store or Installer.app

Ever since updating my 2008 Mac Pro from Mountain Lion (+Server.app) to Mavericks (10.9.3+Server.app) about a month ago, I have been unable to install updates on that system in any way, shape, or form.  Fixing permissions did not fix the problem, and reinstalling Mavericks also did not fix the problem.
When trying to check for updates in the App Store, I run into this error:
I have researched this problem extensively, and found no solution or workaround.  I also could find little in the way of relevant log entries for the problem.
So, now I'm trying to install 10.9.4 manually, from a downloaded .dmg.  As you can see from the screenshot below, I started the installation of 10.9.4 over five and a half hours ago.  One message happened almost an hour after kicking off installation, but still nothing has happened.  The logs are included inline here for your convenience.

  • HT201364 Can't download Mavericks installer on recent Mac. "OS Mavericks cannot be installed on this computer", which is running 9.1.

I want to download the Mavericks installer so I have a backup installer that does not require the internet.  Although, the App Store button allows me to download, I get a message that Mavericks cannot be installed on this computer.
Computer is late 2013 retina MBP 13" with lots of memory.
My OS is 10.9.1 (13B3116) currently running.
Is the App Store version of Mavericks too old (jan 16) for my rMBP?
    Rick

Judging by the build number, it appears you have a special build of Mavericks installed and the App Store version (13B42) won't work with your computer.
Kappy - if I try to download Mavericks I get the message below, so apparently I can down load it again?
I also have a copy of the installer in my Applications folder, although it is in a folder.

  • OS X 10.6.8 - Maverick Installer not launching

Macbook Pro running OS X 10.6.8 - Installed all software updates prior to downloading Maverick OS X Installer. Installer downloaded but will not launch. Chrome and other applications will not respond (constantly freezes). I have re-downloaded and restarted several times. No change. What happened? Help please!

I discovered right after posting this that the software updates never actually installed. I have downloaded and restarted but the same updates appear when i "check for updates" I don't know if that is related to the Mavericks installer just sitting on my dock and refusing to launch. Chrome was non-responsive and a recent calendar app i downloaded refused to launch. I don't know if any of this is related but my computer was working perfectly before these software updates (or attempted software updates). I finally got Mavericks to install is safe boot. I hope this will smooth things over if it completes...or am I asking for more trouble?

  • Battery Problems After Mavericks installation

So i have a MacBook Pro 8.1.  Before i installed mavericks (under mountain lion) i was getting about 4.5 hrs on a full charge (90% brightness).  After installing Mavericks i've had several problems.
Immediately, I received a "service battery" error.  I never had that problem before.
Battery life seems to be jumping all over the place.  One minute it will say that i have 30% left (and literally within a span of a min of two) it will drop to 17%. (with no noticeable app draining the battery - as confirmed by activity monitor).
The time remaining indicator takes about 5 min to indicate how much time left this is in contrast to booting in safe mode (where the indicator showed right away).
Battery life seems about the same (i.e. on a full charge i see it at about 4 hrs - but then it quickly drops 3.5 and than back up and then back down)
I did the following to see if i could "fix" the problem.
a complete battery cycle (calibration). - this seemed to get rid of the "service battery" indicator at least
    a PRAM reset (x2)
    an SMC reset (x2)
Disk / Permission verify and repair (no problems)
I booted off a 2nd internal HD which had a copy of Mountain Lion.  The above problems were nonexistent which leads me to believe that this problem is specific to Mavericks.
p.s. and No Spotlight (or any particular process) isn't consuming a large amount of energy.
All that being said, anyone have any suggestions?  At this point i can't trust how much time i really have on my battery.
For what it's worth i have installed a 3rd party SSD.  I noticed on a few different discussions that being a common thread with others having the same problem.

I have exactly the same problem with an MacBook Pro 8.2 for first time some days after a clean Mavericks installation.
I dont have a 2nd internal HD installed.
We need an answer from Apple.
