Mavericks introduced, and no improvements to Contacts? Why not? When?

I waited for a reference, a comment, an acknowledgment of some kind that Contacts was given some consideration in the new OS release. Nothing. Can we hope that Apple will upgrade - improve - advance Contacts, or is this a futile wish? Apple, give us a truely responsive contacts manager to serve as the hub of iWork, Mail, and etc. (Maybe I missed it - maybe there is a behind the scene development of Contacts going forward.)

I didn't see anything mentioned about Contacts either, but past experience suggests that there will be many other features in the next iteration of OS X that have not been announced yet.
Wait and see, or get proactive and use the link the previous poster gave to let Apple know how you feel.

Syncing contacts and calendar events over the air with an iCloud account has nothing to do with syncing with iTunes.
On your iPhone go to Settings > iCloud.
If Contacts is turned on for over the air syncing, turn it off. A warning message and prompt will be provided asking about what to do with the previously synced contacts with iCloud. Select Delete from iPhone. After all contacts are deleted from your iPhone, turn Contacts back on for over the air syncing. After all contacts are downloaded, confirm the contacts on your iPhone match your online contacts with iCloud.
If so, repeat this with your iPad.

Adium and Yahoo instant messenger contact lists not working with Leopard

After I installed Leopard, I tried to run Adium. When I tried to click on the icon and pop up my contact list to select a contact, nothing happens. I am now only able to receive messages and reply to received messages. I cannot get my contact list to pop up when clicking the icon in the dock (like I did with Tiger).
I had the same issue when using the latest Yahoo! messenger for Mac. Anyone else seeing this, or know of a fix?

Hello tross415 and welcome to the Palm forums.
What you are seeing is, if I recall correctly, a bug from Palm webOS 1.3.1 that has not yet been addressed. If you launch Messaging on the Pre, and then select Preferences & Accounts > Add IM Acoun you will not get a button to add a Yahoo! IM account.
The work around for this issue, and to add Yahoo IM support to your Pre is to add a Yahoo email or calendar account. When you do, the IM account will also be created. That is the process that worked for me when Palm introduced Yahoo IM support with webOS 1.3.1.

Whether -3113 and -3114 have sequence requirement or not when occurring?

A proc code connects to Oracle database. When the link between application and database is down, the proc code will prompt the sql error code.
I find that it will promt :"-3113 end-of-file on communication channel" firstly. And then, it will prompt "-3114 not connected to ORACLE" in every call to this proc code before the link recoveries.
My question is that whether it will prompt -3113 error code at the first time and -3114 after the first time in every call before recovery or not?

While you often encounter both errors together or more specifically you first encounter the -3113 "Connection lost" and later the -3114 "No Connection" you have no guarantee that you will always encounter both. But why care? The solution is identical for both errors, reestablish the connection.

Drag and Drop iPod Movies. Why Not?

You know, I have been wondering something for a very long time and I am amazed that I cannot find any threads anywhere by folks with the same thought process...
Why are there not commercially-available, pre-encoded, drag and drop files of movies and DVDs for iPod?
They make the PSP movies. Wouldnt this be a natural, with the sucess of the iPod and iTunes??
One goes to their neighborhood DVD retailer, buys an iPod-ready CD or DVD, takes it home and drag and drops the files into the iPod. Instead of wasting hours converting the DVD....

This can happen if you don't have write access to the source folder, or if the source and destination are on different drives. Select the folder you're trying to move files from in the Finder and choose Get Info from the File menu; you can check and change the permissions in the Ownership & Permissions section.

UC500 and Dynamic Routing... why not?

First off, I know that the UC500 doesn't support any dynamic routing of any kind. I'm really just here to vent. My biggest problem with this is that the entire UC line supports DMVPN, which works great, except it is somewhat useless without any routing protocol support. There is simply no reason the actual box can't support dynamic routing, in fact it actually looks like it supports RIP in a limited capacity (unoffically of course). I can receive RIP routes no problem, I just can't advertise any RIP routes.
I don't see why Cisco can't at least offer a upgrade license to enable dynamic routing.
Can someone from Cisco chime in on why this is the case? I am going to end up purchasing additional Cisco 881 routers for all my UC500 deployments simply for DMVPN and dyanmic routing. I would rather just pay for a license to enable RIP, EIGRP, OSPF, or BGP routing to be enabled on the U540...

To be honest I think the real reason they removed this from Uc5xx was they were scared some of their mid-level customers would consider ditching the more expensive enterprise kit and throwing these boxes in at their smaller site offices.
Dynamic routing is pretty useful when you get to around 10 sites, especially if your're routing voice, data and voicemail VLAN IPs through a full mesh. We've thrown in ISRs or 800 series to do this in a few cases, but we do still have static routes punched in to a few UC520s in a lot of locations.

I have bought quite a lot of music on iTunes, both on the computer, and on the iPhone 4. Now, I have gotten a new PC, and music is lost. Why not make it, so that you can always re-download music? ******* stupid, this other way.....

Seeing that this has become quite a problem, I need to tell you all about this crap.
I have been forced to buy a new PC, due to the old one breaking down. (Finally, had it for 8 years...)
Now, while I have taken a backup of the iTunes Library, including music, apps, movies etc. And put in the new iTunes folder on the NEW PC, somehow, quite a lot of the music, previousley downloaded from iTunes, have gone missing. It was still on my iPhone, but when I plugged it in to synchronize, they got "kicked out" - and are now no-where to be found. I am quite frankly HIGHLY unsatisfied with this issue, and want to know, if there is a way to redownload my music, without involving iTunes Store Support into it. Mostly, because I think they are quite nice people, but with very limited options when it comes to helping each individual in a way, satisfying enough. I have had previous encounters with them, turning out quite... harsh.
Let me know what you think, and if I should write a formal complaint to iTunes Store.

Facebook, G+ and twitter only work in muse, why not when html is exported?

Below are the three codes I placed in Object/Insert HTML on my Master page, plus partial screen shots of the two results. When I previes, preview in browser and publish from Muse to a BC platform, all looks as I planned and the button function. But, when I export the HTML to upload to my host, it becomes corrupted and nothing functions. Since there is no real support (Phone support won't help if they know I'm using an outside host) there are no manuals and most of the member responses are very short on specifics for people like me who are not HTML literate. I use Muse because I was told I didn't need to know coding, but it seems not to be entirely true. PLEASE - I need to resolve this issue - and I haven't even started trying to put in 'snippets'

I have not launched the lastest exported HML from my host's server because I cannot have it go up until I know it is going to work. The version I am basing my fears on is the site that opens in my Chrome browser once the HTML export from Muse is completed. The next step for me is to FTP if to my host. I suppose I could upload it in a different forder and then point to it and test it, but usually what I see on my browser after a Muse export is what I get when I launch it. Placing smart objects from AI to PS and saving as .gif! why not?

I have created a logo for a friend in illustrator and basically want to save it as a file type that they can place into word documents etc.. So far the best i can do is place as a smart object into photoshop and then save as a jpg, and then i get a background as well as come color distortion (blacks turn to greyish tones).
Is there a way to save illustrator vector images in a way that does not include a background color and also does not distort the colors?

You can do as Scott suggested but you might actually find another Item in the fie menu will serve you best.
File>Save for Microsoft Office is set up to optimize the png for use in Office applications best.
So you should try both and see what you like.
Even Save for Device and Web offer you the choice to optimize the png, I would choose png 24.
You should try all three ways, there may no longer be a difference between any of these three options.

That's not mirroring, that's basic airplay. Mirroring is showing exactly what is on your computer via the Apple TV.
Airplay mirroring requires the newer processor to encode the video.

Images enlarge and movies play in iweb, but not when published

Everything works fine in the program, but when published to site or folder, photos are there, but won't enlarge. The movie thumbnail shows with the little movie icon in the corner, but clicking does nothing.

On all of your pages you have an image that appears to cover the photos preventing them from being clicked on.
Move it to the back via the Arrange menu or get rid of it.
How did you add the videos to the page? If you just dragged them onto the page or used the movie page then iWeb will have to upload them when it publishes the page and all will load when the page is accessed which can cause long loading time for the page.
Also thre are some files missing for the TV page as seen in the Activity window (Command+Option+A) for the page. Publish the site to a folder on your hard drive and open it there. Check to see if the movies play OK (after you fix that overlaying image issue). If they do then the problem lies in the uploading of the files.
If those files are Quicktime then the viewers must have Quicktime installed on their computer in order to view them. See this page on Roddy's iWeb for Musicians site for methods of presenting movies that will let all computers view them: Player-Showcase.html. See the list at the right for different players you can use.

Open source / Commercial version, it's up to you! Why not for ESB products

Please comment this forum and help us to get Sun's support for Open ESB as we can get it for open-Solaris or Glassfish.

After you have built applications with these tools and wish to move into a production environment, you can buy support from Sun.

Alternatively, you can as well buy commercial versions at the first place. Even if open sources and commercial versions are slightly different than the open-source ones, more than 95% of their code is originated from the same development branch. Example : SUN proposes its queue messaging system with two similar versions, respectively named �SUN QM� and "Open-MQ". The only difference is the amount you pay for the technical support.
Everyone can find advantages in this sales policy on Sun products: companies and developers try and develop for free and can rely on Sun support in production. As a matter of fact, Sun uses these �free� products as Trojan horses to conquer new market shares, penetrate new companies and sell Sun hardware.
Why not for ESB Products ?
Unfortunately, there is a small issue in this picture: Sun's ESB platform is the exception in this sales policy. In Fact, Sun proposes two different tools for ESB developments. The first product. "JCAPS", is a commercial product inherited from Seebeyond. The second product, "Open-ESB" is based on JBI specifications (JSR 208) and was developed from scratch about 2 years ago.
Alas, JCAPs and Open-ESB are definitely two different products.
JCAPS ignores JBI specifications
JCAPS connectors are based on JCA specifications and not on JBI.
Open-ESB development process is based on Web services specifications, JCAPS not.
JCAPS and Open-ESB developments are not compatible.
Hundreds other differences can be found between the two products.
We can understand that for a while, for technical, marketing or business reasons, a company supports more than one product lines with the same functionalities. IBM does it and Oracle buying BEA will do it also.
However, there are several things that Pymma would like to understand:
Why the download of JCAPS is only available for authorized JCAPS Partner ?
Why SUN does not provide support for open-ESB as it does for Glassfish, Open Solaris or Open MQ ?
Why JBI or Open-ESB are never mentioned at most ESB seminars organized by Sun Centres in the UK ?
Why Sun marketing, Gurus or consultants are prolix about JBI in the public lectures and technical forums, and at the same ignore Open-ESB when they advice companies ?
Is the policy of Jonathan Swartz policy only applicable for Java Legacy applications (Application Server, Message queuing�)? not for ESB tools ?
Of course, we already asked these questions to SUN but we never got clear answers.

Many companies believe in JBI and their developers spend time and energy working on Open-ESB . These companies would certainly be interested to hear Sun's explanations on the above questions. They probably want to be sure that Open-ESB will not be just a prototype for the new JCAP version (only reserved for SUN JCAPS Partners). They certainly want to be credible by proposing SUN's professional support on Open-ESB as they do for Glassfish and Open-Solaris. After, they only need from SUN to clarify its position and give a clear prospective for the future of JBI and Open-ESB. We hope that through this blog Sun will hear us and we will give us clear answers.

My iPhoto is iPhoto 11, version 9.4.2. I believe my Aperture is the latest version but I don't know how to verify that when I can't open it. I regularly accept any updates.
How I restored my Aperture Library: I opened Aperture, clicked on Time Machine, and navigated to the Aperture Library that had been backed-up earlier in the day. It took a while to restore.
When done, I opened Aperture (yes, at that point I could still open it). It opened up on the still-empty Library, and I had to manually change it to the restored library, every time I opened aperture after that. This was annoying, so, I then went to FINDER and deleted the empty Library. I probably shouldn't have done this; I noticed it had the words "current default" in its filename.
From that point on, FINDER shows the restored aperture library (actually two restored aperture libraries, since I accessed Time Machine a second time to restore an even older backed-up version) but of course, not the empty Library that had had "default" in its filename. And... I can no longer open Aperture.
