Mavericks isn't allowing me to connect to my school's internet.

On Mountain Lion when I connected to the network occasionally it would have a connection error, and I'd turn my wifi off and when I turned it back on it would auto connect and would work fine.
Now this doesn't work on Mavericks, and a screen pops up asking to run diagnostics on the connection, though this diagnostics test does nothing. Now very rarely can I connect to the internet and it seems to be pure luck when it does.
I am a boarding student at the school so school internet is really vital.
Does anybody have a solution to this?

I am also having a similar problem.
In the past, whenever I turned on my macbook pro a1286's wireless, a small window would appear on my screen allowing me to enter my school id and password and access the internet. This window wasn't in any browser, it appeared whether or not i had any browser open.
Now, on mavericks, it works the first time i get to school and turn on my computer, but if my computer goes to sleep or i move to a different area of the campus, the login window does not appear again. I'm still connected to the network, so in this case, what i have to do is open firefox, enter any url, confirm the security exception and then i'll be redirected to the school's wireless login page.
Not only is this 3 extra steps, it often doesn't work and i'm stuck there turning my wifi on and off and waiting for windows to appear. It's very time consuming.
I already went to System Preferences > Network > Advanced >  Proxies
nothing was checked.
and i went to System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Firewall
my firewall was already switched off.
Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!

  • "that domain isn't allowed to be relayed thru this MTA " : Problem and fix

I am using Java mail to send emails out at work through my web email account.
Sometimes it works fine, but after a while, it gives me the following error :
    javax.mail.SendFailedException: Invalid Addresses;
    nested exception is:
com.sun.mail.smtp.SMTPAddressFailedException: 553 sorry, that domain isn't allowed to be relayed thru this MTA (#5.7.1)
    at com.sun.mail.smtp.SMTPTransport.rcptTo(SMTPTransport.java:1196)
    at com.sun.mail.smtp.SMTPTransport.sendMessage(SMTPTransport.java:584)
I waited for a few days, and tried one more time, it worked again for a few emails, then it failed again. I went into my Thunderbird where I had this web account set up so I can both send and receive emails, I tried to send out an email, it worked, then I used my Java email program to send email from work through this web account, it works again. It seems Thunderbird can fix the problem for me. Does any one know how I can fix it in Java so I don't have to start Thunderbird and send an email to fix the error ?

You're confusing things here by using your ISP's mail server at work instead
    of your work mail server.
Still, your ISP's mail server is probably imposing similar restrictions as your
work mail server. It doesn't want to allow just anyone to connect and send
mail to anywhere. That's how spam is sent. Most people control this by requiring
you to login to the SMTP server before it will let you send mail. Some people use
the hack of requiring you to login to the POP3 server first, and then it will allow
you to connect to the SMTP server without logging in and will allow you to send
    mail.
You seem to be missing some basic understanding of JavaMail and what it
means to "connect to a mail server". Maybe you don't understand the difference
between a Store and a Transport. POP3 is a Store protocol. SMTP is a Transport
    protocol.
The JavaMail demo directory is full of programs that should how to connect to
a mail server (Store) to read messages, the most useful of which is the msgshow.java
demo program. JavaMail doesn't require you to wire in knowledge of the Store
protocol. You can write a program that can connect to any type of Store, and then
tell it at runtime to use the "pop3" protocol. Looking at msgshow.java, if you pass
"pop3" as the protocol argument ("-T pop3"), it will connect to a POP3 mail server.

  • Canon LBP3010 - ccpd wants me to allow it to connect to the internet. What's happening?

I am using Mac OS X Yosemite and my native firewall is active. Whenever I restart/open my computer, I see a messagebox that asks me whether I want to allow ccpd to connect to the internet or not.
I installed a fresh copy of Yosemite in order to understand what's going on, but I get the same message every time.

  • "Allow incoming network connections" every time

Hi everyone, on my mac always appear this message "allow incoming network connections" when i open the programs that use the network like Recordbox and Parallels for example. The firewall is turn on and the exception is registered but os x (both Mavericks and Yosemite beta) ask me every time to allow the connection, how can i fix it? thanks...

Turn off the firewall. It serves no purpose when you're on a private network behind an NAT router.

My I4 will not allow me to connect a bluetooth. It keeps giving a message the pair list is full. There are no list available to delete. How do I correct the issue?

Check this article: iOS: Third-party Bluetooth headsets, headphones, and keyboards
Unpairing a Bluetooth accessory from an iOS device
If you've paired your iOS device with a Bluetooth accessory and no longer wish to use that accessory, you may unpair it. If you wish to leave the device paired, but route calls through a second, paired device, turn off the first device and then turn on the second device. Then in Settings > General > Bluetooth, tap on the device you wish to use.
From the Home screen choose Settings > General > Bluetooth. If Bluetooth isn't on, turn it on.
Choose a device and tap Unpair.
Until you pair the Bluetooth accessory again, your iOS device won't route information through it.
    * Find information on which iOS versions and devices support which Bluetooth profiles. Not all Bluetooth stereo headphones include a mic. Only those with a mic and that support handsfree profile (HFP 1.5) can be used to make and receive calls.

If your not hearing dial tone you might have your phone plugged into the wrong port. Most modems have 2 outlets, one is labeled line ( that is the one you should have plugged into the jack (RJ11C). If that's correct, query the modem and see if it tests OK, you may have a defective modem.

You have to be in a country, and have a billing address in that country, to download from its store. You can try requesting that the app be added to the Slovenia store, but unless the app's developer/rights-holder agrees to it then Apple won't be able to sell it there : http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunes.html

  • I have an iPod Touch but I currently don't have a PC.  I found an app that would allow me to connect to my network drive and I was able to transfer music files to it.  These files do not show under the Music app and I can't find any way to do it.

I need help from some Apple people. I have an iPod Touch and I wanted to load it up with some fresh music but I currently don't have a PC. I found an app that would allow me to connect to my 2TB network drive directly and I was able to transfer a bunch of music files to the iPod. Unfortunately, these new files do not show under the Music app and I can't seem to find any way to convince the iPod that they are music. I can play them through the file manager only. Android doesn't have this problem, any music I put on my phone is recognized as music and can be played through any of the music apps. Am I missing something or is Apple to inflexible to handle this?

You can't. The only way to get songs in the Music app is to sync from a computer or to download from iTunes.

  • How can i allow multiple incoming connections on my windows 8 vpn server?

    Hi eveyone,
Im trying to find out how to allow more than 1 incoming VPN connection into my windows 8.1 PC and no clue how to do it without openVPN or other programs (which i have no clue how to set up either)
Im starting to use my home NAS for work where I store everything on it so when ever I go to a job I can either access it or save a new file to it. The problem is my wife also wants to use it and I dont want to not be allowed to connect when I need to or
    not allow her to connect.
Is there any way I can allow 2+ incoming connections on my home PC without getting a seperate software?
If the only option is getting a seperate program can anyone provide something that I can settup to my home router so I can access the NAS by the private IP?
    Thank you

Short answer - no. The client OS only allows one incoming VPN connection.

Are you calling OpenEventA, CreateEventA, or CreateEventExA? Those look like legitimate errors: OpenEventA, CreateEventA,
and CreateEventExA are not supported in Windows Store or Windows Phone apps. OpenEventW and CreateEventExW are allowed so you can use those instead.
And is this a Windows Store app or a Windows Phone Silverlight app? You gave different details on StackOverflow than you
    do here.

Recently upgraded Mac OS to 10.5.5 - have an older G4 which is max'd out upgrade-wise - both processor and OS. At present Safari is 3.1.2. Itunes is 9.2.1. Itunes will not allow me to connect to store - says it requires Safari 4.0.3 - however, when I try to download Safari 4.0.3 or newer it says it requires an older version of the OS. What to do?

    Update v10.5.5 to v10.5.8
Download and install the  combo >  Mac OS X 10.5.8 Combo Update
    Then restart your Mac.
That should update Safari for you to 5.0.6 and that should help with iTunes.
If necessary, after updating to v10.5.8, you can use the standalone Safari installer here >  Safari 5.0.6 for Leopard
