Mavericks & Monitor Mirroring

After installing Mavericks, don't seem to be able to mirror my monitor on my TV.  The TV now just shows the desktop without the icons and will not display any apps when I open them.
Mac is an early 2009 version.
Thanks for any help.

The TV is working in extended mode. Just move a window to the right part of your iMac display and it will appear on the TV. You can also set up the TV to mirror the iMac's screen. See > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5019

  • HT4437 Can't get iTunes and monitor mirroring to work at the same time.

When I turn on my airplay on itunes it turns off the airplay from my monitor. I don't know how I've done it before but I sometimes can't play itunes and have it mirror my screen at the same time so I can use the visualizer. Whenever I turn one on, the other shuts off. I've done it before. Is there a specific sequence you need to run itunes and have the mirroring work too?

  • External Monitor - Mirror Only ... OR is Extended Desktop possible ?

If I connect a monitor to my new Intel iMac must it mirror the built-in monitor or can it be set to extend the Desktop ??
I have seen a bit of software called Desktop Spanning or something like that to make extending the desktop accross a second monitor connected to an earlier type of iMac. Will that work or is that necessary with the new iMcs ???

All the intel macs support extended desktop, no hack needed.

  • Sansung LCD Monitor mirroring

I have a new HP Pavilion M6-1045dx laptop using Window 7/64-bit. My 8-yr old widescreen Samsung Syncmaster 226cw monitor will not "mirror" the laptop display. The monitor is connected via an adapter which is a DVI-I female-to-VGA Male video converter. The female end is connected to the monitor and male end to laptop. How do I enable this monitor to work with this laptop so that I can choose to use both displays at the same time or choose just the monitor(preferred)? I am not using a wireless setup. I need step-by-step detailed instructions. I feel it must be a simple fix but I am not sure. This is my first post on this excellent forum. Thanks in advance!

  • VGA Monitor Mirroring

Greetings---I have a external monitor that pivots into portrait mode & via a VGA connection using a mirroring-enabled drawing app (Sketchbook Pro) to sketch....
The problem is although the iPad in portrait or 'tall' mode, i can't get this to reflect on the external monitor. The image remains fixed in horizontal or in landscape mode. Turning the iPad landscape-wise causes the image to become portrait as desired but alas i can't draw what I'm needing to draw at that angle...
Anyone know how to fix this---hopefully?
    Thanks!

From the lack of replies, apparently not a unresolvable ish at the moment. Hopefully Apple with fix this aspect of things with a future update....
Anyhow i did come up with a work-around (working with the iPad is nothing but 'work-arounds' i've come to learn ), maybe a obvious one to most out there; Lock the iPad's screen into place.
Yeah it does do the trick but is hardly a solution since the tools, drop down windows, etc. of the app now need to be read at a side angle which definitely puts a crimp where functionality is concerned...

  • Setting 1920x1080 resolution in second monitor (mirror)

    Hola!
I have a MacBook Pro 13'' (2011). I'm trying configure a second monitor with the Mac, the second monitor it's a Asus VH226 and Mac recognized it perfectly.
I configure the screen mode in mirror screens but the resolution of the second monitor is not the native (1920x1080). I'm confused but Mac knows the native resolution.
I select the resolution in the menu but not applied, the second monitor turns off and on again but at 1600x1200 although it is marked 1980x1080.
    Thanks
PS: I bought this connector http://store.apple.com/us/product/MB570Z/A?fnode=MTY1NDA3Ng&mco=MTA4NDU0ODY

    I found a solution!
First of all, I'm using this external monitor as primary monitor and there are connected to a external keyboard and external mouse.
The solution is close the clamshell and reactivate the Mac with the external keyboard, now only turns on my Asus with native resolution 1920x1080.

  • Mac Airplay Mavericks (NOT MIRRORING)

I've looked throught the other threads and cant find the answer I'm looking for. Just prior to installing Mavericks the Airplay icon on the top right of my menu bar gave me the option to stream my sound to airplay devices WITHOUT MIRRORING. Now to do the same thing I have to open preferences > sound> choose device to stream sound to.
The reason this is so important to me is I use my apple tv connected to my surround sound as my primary speakers because im always listening to music. My apple TV is connected to the same Display as my computer so i could in theory turn the mirroring on to bypass my issue but when i try that my dual display ability is lost... as in the second display isnt its own screen anymore. The only time I use the Apple TV for video and audio is when watching a movie or other video (to keep the video and sound in sync since if i only stream the sound it ends up lagging behind the video.
So basically my question boils down to is there a way to get the old functionality bac or am I doomed to having to open my preferences constantly?

  • Maverick. Mirroring Screen to TV Airplay Icon Not visible in Menu bar

    Hi,
I recently upgraded my OS to Maverick 10.9.1 from Snow leopard. My Laptop is a Macbook 13" Aluminium Late 2008.
How do I get the Airplay Icon to appear in the Menu Bar so that I can Mirror whats on my macbook to my Television. This is the only reason that I upgraded to maverick as I was informed in an Apple Store that this is what I needed to do.
I have apple TV,(May 2013) and my Itunes is registered with this TV and works fine, as does my Iphone. I have also updated the apple TV with the latest software.
I have looked at the Display in preferences, and the show Mirroring options in the menu bar when available is ticked. There are no other options.
I can choose Apple tv in my sound options as my Output, so the macbook recognises the Apple TV, but only with sound, not Mirroring.
I hope this makes sense. I have gone through all of the apple help pages, and I am still no further forward.
    Thanking you all in Advance
    Greg Simms

AirPlay Mirroring (which allows you to mirror your screen to the Apple TV) is only compatible with 2011 and newer Macs, being this the reason why you do not see the mirroring icon. See > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5404
As you cannot use AirPlay Mirroring, you can use a third-party application that does the same job, like AirParrot.

  • Mac Mini Late 2009 - Lost monitor mirror after Mountain Lion Update

I have a mac mini late 2009, mirror to dual monitors was working fine prior to Mountain Lion update. After update I have lost that function. The icon top right is gone. Basic functions like that should never disappear. Please fix on upcoming os builds.
    System preferences Mirror options checked.
I have been running dual monitor on this mac since purchase. Monitor 1 is 24" display, Montor 2 is a 32" 720dpi tv only used for watching videos. This set up has been running well.
The dual monitor function works fine but I never use it that way. I am interested in "mirror" option when watching a video from various applications.
Again this was working fine until ML update.
Any one else experience this issue?

Oh. You are so in jail.
Plug the mini straight into the wall power supply.
You do have 4 - 8GB memory installed, right?
Disconnect everything but power and the display port to regular monitor connection. Make sure that external monitor is switched to the type of connection: DVI, HDMI, VGA. Wrong setting and your mini could be booted up sneering at you from behind a dark screen.
    Boot mini.
    Any change?

  • Mavericks Display Mirroring not working

When using an external display (either through a physical HDMI or through Airplay to my Apple TV), I'm unable to Mirror the displays. I'm able to select the option and I see the displays flicker and mirror for a brief moment and then they reset back to their previous cofniguration.
This had been working fine previously, the last thing I had done was use my Macbook pro retina to Airplay onto an Apple TV as an extended display.

Have you looked at the previous discussions listed on the right side of this page under the heading "More Like This"?

  • XVR-1200 - dual monitor mirrored

    Hi,
I've inherited a SunBlade with an XVR-1200 graphics card, currently setup in widescreen mode over 2 monitors. I've been asked whether it is possible to setup the card such that the second monitor displays exaclty what is on the primary monitor - i.e. everything is replicated (mouse movements, applications, etc). This is a live production system so I haven't had the chance to experiment.
Is this possible, either via a card option or via some Xserver change?
    Regards,
    Ian

I do not think it can be done without external hardware, taking the same approach as when you get set up for a projector.
Glancing briefly through the Installation Guide of that card, I see no help for what you hope to do.
    http://sunsolve.sun.com/data/816/816-7386/pdf/
Technically, this is an OS configuration question and not a hardware issue. You're seeking guidance to manipulate some settings in the GUI.
I'll let it continue, here, for the moment. Consider duplicating your question in one of the Solaris forums.

I haven't had any replies to my request, so I'm going to try to broaden the question (i.e. make it less XVR-1200 specific):
Does anyone know of a graphics card that allows the replication of the primary monitor to the secondary monitor?

  • IPad3 "mirroring" video on external monitor

Hi, My iPad3 does not "mirror" when I play an MP4 video using the iPad's Video player, through my Apple VGA adaptor. The external monitor mirrors just fine until I play a video, then the picture is only seen on the monitor, not the iPad. The iPad says "TV connected" when the video is playing. Why is this? Same result with my iPhone 4S with IOS6.

Don;t know about that particular one, but "Video DL" does keep playng the video on the iPad while it plays on the screen or TV.
Though you would need to have the video in the App, or somewhere it can access it for the App to play it.
