Mavericks no longer opens mutiple tabs

I used to be able to reopen a finder window with the tabs I closed it with.
Now it always reopens with one tab.
How do I default to two or theree tabs on starting up or reopening Finder?

Will the old Pages run under Maverick?
IF so that will be something to try
Old Pages did not open up the old Clarisworks docs but Pages 09 DID respond when we changed the extension of the CW documents to "TXT".
So , Uncle can try using Pages 09
We also can try Libre
I can install Text Wrangler- there was some advice that it will open the old CW files.
My concern is that Uncle IS 90years of age. He is remarkable using a Mac but he needs, wants everything to be straightforward and resists, cannot handle any process requiring too many steps
The need to use an intermediary translation system (CW->TXT->Pages) is stressful for him.
Such a shame that Apple did not program a translator to open the files made by its previous proprietary software (ClarisWorks and Appleworks)

All of a sudden I can no longer open new tabs.

I have been using Firefox for a long time with no problems. Today for the first time I can no longer open new tabs. I reloaded the program with the same results.

Can no longer open additional tabs using Forefox 17.0

I downloaded the update for Firefox 17.0 and installed it with no problems. After completion, I discovered that I could not open additional tabs as with previous versions of Firefox. I tried various methods, including the File pulldown menu, clicking on the tab stop next to an already open website, and using Ctrl+T. Nothing worked. I can open additional windows, but find it much more convenient to use tab stops, and am currently unable to do so using the latest version of Firefox.

I can not open mutiple tabs -- please help

Uninstall the Ask toolbar and it should work again. There is a compatibility issue with the Ask toolbar and Firefox that prevents new tabs from being opened.

Pages 5 in Mavericks no longer opens Text files?- need to open old Clarisworks files

My 90 year old uncle clung to ClarisWorks, Appleworks far too long
He still has Claris Works documents he needs to open.Some so old that even AppleWorks version 6x, the final version of AppleWorks could not open!)
In Mountain Lion, he could open the older Clarisworks- Appleworks documents in TextEdit , save as .TXT file and then open that file in Pages
Tonight, after installing OS 10.9 ( Mavericks)he finds this work around unrelable : Sometimes the new Pages cannot open the .TXT message
How do I help him convert his old documents?
( he saved names and addresses in to Claris Works documents instead of entering into his Contacts/Address Book so now he is panicky to retrieve the addresses as he starts working on his holiday greeting and gift mailings)

WHy can I no longer open multiple tabs; whenever I try each tab is opened but no page is downloaded but no error messages are displayed

Each tab displays the usual rotational 'downloading' icon but even if I wait several minutes nothing happens.....
Even if I halt all or close all tabs bar one I am no longer able to download any pages unless I close Firefox completely and restart.
Upon restart I can then open tabs slowly one at a time but if more than one of my open tabs tries to update similtaneously then the problem reoccurs and I have to restart Firefox once again.
I have tried removing & reinstalling Firefox as well as creating an all new profile (importing only bookmarks) with no change

Every time I launch Firefox 4 it opens 3 or 4 blank windows, no longer opens the tabs from the previous session and does not show my bookmarks sidebar.

I have to manually close the extra windows and restore the tabs from the previous session, and reopen the sidebar. In disgust I uninstalled Firefox 4 and reinstalled 3.6. Everything works fine in 3.6. Looks to me like Firefox 4 has many major bugs and is not yet ready for prime time. I'll stay with 3.6 for now.

If you see files sessionstore-##.js with a number in the left part of the name like sessionstore-1.js then delete those as well.

When I click on a link in an email (I use Thunderbord) it no longer opens a tab in Firefox for that web page. This started about the time I installed FF v.4. Any ideas?

I've done some looking but have not found anything about this problem.
More details --, if I get an email (Thunderbird, latest version) that has a link in it, it will be highlighted but now when you click on it to go to that web page or site nothing happens. I've looked through HELP and tried various option settings and also thought it might have something to do with an add-on but I have not found any way to turn this feature back on -- that is, be able to click on the link in the email and open that web page.
I can copy the link location and paste it in the navigation tool bar and go there, it's just another step.

I seem to have solved my own problem. When I disabled the add-on "Tab Renamizer" everything started working fine.

I can no longer open multiple tabs in a window but if a program opens another tab it will work but clicking on "new tab" does not work.

That is the details. When I click on "new tab" it will not open a new tab in the current window. When I click on something that will open a new tab it works that way. I can open new windows, that is not problem This only happened the last week or so.

This issue can be caused by the Ask.com toolbar (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions)

How can I put OSX 10.7 on a new Macbook Air. Maverick no longer allows "open file in a new window" and I really miss it. At the Apple Store they told me it can't be added to the new OSX 10.10 so I want to change the OSX on the new Macbook Air and it

I have been using a 2012 Mac pro to do HD video editing. I bought a new portable Macbook Air only to find that Maverick no longer has "open files in a new window" which I use all the time in the very large folders of video clips and royalty-free music. I asked at the Apple Store how I could get this back on the Macbook Air and they said it couldn't be done so I thought I would re-format the HD and install 10.7 on it and was notified by the Macbook Air I can't put 10.7 on that computer. Apple use to give this as an option but now they have gone more to the attitude of "Do it our way or go to ****!" In anger I went out and bought a Dell Laptop and Pinnacle Studio 17 which I have been learning to use. I have been an Apple/Mac user since 1979 and would still rather do my video editing on a Mac. Is there any way that I can force the Macbook Air to let me load in OSX 10.7 where there is still the option to "open files in a new window" or is there a way to add this to Maverick? The experts at the Madison, WI Couldn't give me any help on this.

Choose Preferences from the Finder menu, click on the General tab, and uncheck the box to open folders in a new tab.
