Since upgrading to Mav, I can not get the program to launch and am getting no pop up to tell me what is going on. It let me open and start a project at first, but then I was half way through and it crashed and I lost everything and now will not launch at all. Does anyone out there still use this magnificent program? Please help—the wedding I just commissioned is on hold and I am not want looking forward to facing a bridezilla.

right now just to get yer work done, get ahold of any OS that will run iM6HD and get it done. then dump MAVRICKS (wait till 10.9.2 at least) and retro back to OSX 10.6..or 10.7 (if you have it). I use FCExpress4 on 10.6....you might want to consider keeping a dedicated mini or something that ONLY runs your editing sw. I have 2 older machines that I will never upgrade because the editing SW wont run on the newwer OSs.
abuve all, be honest with your client. we all got kind of blindsided by this initial relese (like a bug infested matress).
ask if they have any apple stuff that has Mavricks probs. bridzillas only happen when they are out of the loop. Keep them informed. but ...also be ready to duck.

HT200189 How about the same fix for Regular Mavericks (NON-server versions!)

I had everything working fine until the update to 10.9. Now all my L2TP connections got screwed. Only PPTP is working.
Please help with any usefull tips to get me going again.

Since the Windows Server 2012 is Non-domain, you can use the following settings on Windows server 2012 R2 to ask for user name and password when a user have no permission to access a shared folder
Go to Control Panel > Network and sharing center > Change advanced sharing settings > Enable Turn Off password protect sharing option
We can only set the server to prompt for credentials or not. We could not set the server to prompt for credentials on some shared folers and does not prompt for credentials on another shared folders.

None of my finished idvd projects have audio, although they did in the past. Also, none of and none of the idvd themes have audio, although they always used to open with accompanying audio.

In addition to deleting the iDVD preference file delete the contents of the iDVD cache folder:
Try this basic troubleshooting fix:
1 - delete the IDVD preference file, com.apple.iDVD.plist, that resides in your
User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete IDVD'S cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
User/Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iDVD folder.
3 - launch IDVD and try again.
NOTE: In Lion and Mountain Lion the Home/Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.

My advice, keep iDVD on your Apple Mac as it is a great software and let's hope Apple will introduce it again in imovie 10. Since you may have imovie 10.0 (2013) up-dated from imvovie 9.0 (which included iDVD for burning your home made films on imvoie 9.0,) you can proceed as follows to burn it on a DVD:
a) your film is completed on imovie 10.0. Under share transfer it to "Theatre" (default).
b) open iDVD and drag the film ex "Theatre" on the space "movie" of i.DVD.
c) Inser a DVD and clic on "burn"...
It worked for me.

Maverick update release of iMovie 10. Where is the user Guide?

Used imovie to produced many good videos right before Maverick update. iMovie 10 need lots of learning. Any one has idea of good user guide other than taking some on-line classes?
How to work every thing with the external hard drive? I did that before, but I can't do it with iMovie10.

Mavericks does NOT come with iMovie, Garageband, iPhoto. Never was part of the OS …
… but every Mac comes pre-installed with these apps.
When you do a socalled 'clean-install' of an OS, you erase all content from disk - which makes it neccessary to re-install apps (and all personal data, music, photos, documents, movies).
Looks like, they did that way.
Did they back-up your drive before doing so? Did you back-up before giving your Mac away?
Depending on date of purchase, your Mac came with installer-disks, which allow an 'apps only' custom install; or, you were instructed on first launch to 'register' at Apple/AppStore - then, log-in there, downlaod and install apps.

Mavericks 10.0.2 iMovie Is A Mess

Boy Oh Boy! I spent some time on our wonderful new version of iMove, and I have some mixed feelings about it.
The Good:
I like the general flow and how they have integrated audio and music right into the events folder. This makes it faster to locate media and drag it to your timeline.
I also like that when you highlite a clip to drag to the timeline, it stays highlighted even after you drag it. This makes it esier to drag duplicate clips into the timeline or to be able to go back and look at what you previously dragged to the timeline so you don't duplicate video portions in your movie.
The Bad:
I'm experiencing constant and repeated Freezing and lock up with the endless" Pinwheel Of Doom" that there is only one alternative to get out of. FORCE QUIT
This is happening mostly when adding clips and trying to play them in the timeline.
Also experiencing pixelation and loss of video in playback mode in the timeline. There is simply no eccuse for this, and I never saw that much in the iMovie 9.0.9. Apple, you need to quit piddling around and address these issues.
I like to keep up to speed with the new software, but let's get it working so that we don't have to go back to the old version for a year until you get enough updates to make the new version work. Get it working before you put it out there.

Oh, and while I'm at it.... I noticed in Finder that when viewing certin audio and video files, the "View Choice Selecttion" is just plain gone. I like to swith between icons and list, but now they stripped us of that. Wake up!

iMovie 10.0.2 does not function at all. It will not export nor upload (to YouTube, for example). I discovered that iMovie 9.0.9 was still in my Applications folder, but had been moved to a new folder named iMovie, and renamed "iMovie .app" (note the space after "iMovie").
Deleting iMovie 10.0.2 and emptying the Trash, then moving Version 9.0.9 back into the Applications folder and deleting the space in its filename brought everything back to the way it was before Version 10.0.2
Now 9.0.9 functions as well as it ever did, and 10.0.2 is history.
This is on a new iMac running Maverics.

HT6023 I am not able to see Inspect and other tabs. I have recently bought my Mac Book Air and updated it to OS X Mavericks and have latest iMovie 10.0.1.

I am not seeing the band in between the Library and Project that has Play button and other command buttons. When I go to IMovie and Preferances, I see the
only options as follows "Clip: Apply Slow motion automatically" and Theater : Automatically upload content to icloud. But various forum discussions mention that this should open up options for browser tab, inspector tab etc. I looked at other menu's and I do not find anything. Can somebody help solve this.

After repeated search, I found my answer. I have both iMovie App on my Mac. Sadly they don't share the library or events. I liked the version 9 having inspect tab and others where you could manually enter many values which in version 10 takes hec of playing around with your mouse.
For example, In version 10 you have hold the mouse or trackpad to adjust the % of sound of strip and still may not get to desired value. In version 9, you can bring up a window for adjusting audio and enter the values directly. This is user friendly.
I guess, I have to live with two versions for a while. App store does no longer haver version 9. Hope any new updates to OS wont automatically delete version 9.

My iMovie project has sound, but no sound when burned in iDVD

I created a movie in iMovie then burned the disc in iDVD. The sound is good when I play the project in iMovie, but after I burned the disc in iDVD I cannot hear any sound. What should I do?

The following info was obtained from the Apple knowledge base:
Delete encoded assets from the project.
Burn another disc or Save as Disc Image, mount the image and test in DVD Player and then burn your DVD with Disk Utility.
This issue can also occur if third-party (non-Apple) QuickTime plug-ins are installed. If the issue still occurs after trying the steps above, check for third-party plug-ins in ~/Library/QuickTime/ and /Library/QuickTime. Move these to the desktop, and then log out and log back in to the computer
