Mavericks, Photo Booth issues -- photos out of order

I recently updated to Mavericks, and since then all of my photos have been out of order in Photo Booth. I have been able to reorganise them according to date created in the root folder, but not in Photo Booth itself.
Any ideas?

Same issue here as well. Photobooth is sorting by file name. New images created have a long file name includng the date and time. Earlier photos are named photo1.jpg...Anybody know a good file re-namer?

  • Photos out of order with iOS5 update

Looking for any advice I can get on my out of order photos on my 4g ipod touch.  When the last major operating system update came down the line I had a similiar issue.  The way I solved it last time was by batch changing all the dates for my pictures in iphoto.  My folders in iphoto are numbered sequentially.  Any advice?

  • Slideshows show photos out of order

    Hi there
I have an Apple TV and looking at my slideshows, my photos are displayed out of order. I renamed all the files so they are in the sequence I want, however that made no difference.
Seems as though the Apple TV is showing the files in order of the time the shots were taking which is not what I want given the re-naming process I went through.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks
    Mike

AppleTV shows you your pictures in whatever order AppleTV decides, and you WILL like it. ha ha.
Seriously, I've tried and failed here. I have no clue how the thing decides what order to show pictures, I don't think it's necessarily in the order I shot them in.. it's more likely the order they get copied over by iTunes. So maybe uploading your photos 1 at a time will enforce a specific order.
Since there's no way for Apple to monetize your personal photos, I don't think they are really interested in developing that part of the software as well as they do for the movie rental and itunes store portions. I've had this device for almost 2 years now and pretty much only the parts that they use to sell me stuff have been improved in that time.
Personally I'm about ready to convert my iTV into a doorstop.

  • Just upgraded and photos out of order

WOW, I just upgraded to 11 and all photos are out of order
in previous versions if I wanted to look at my library (Photos) they would be in order of when they were put into iPhoto, from the 1st to most recent.
with the upgrade they are all random. Is there any way to get them back in order? as in, the order they were installed into iPhoto?
    thanks

Earlier this month I tried to ask the same question but not as well. In any case I don't understand your suggestion. When I go to View-> Sort Photos the only options are sort by date, keyword, title or rating and in either ascending or descending order (manual and reset manual sort are grayed out). How does this make the latest added image appear as the last added to the Photo Library. If there is eXIF data, the photo gets imported and placed by photo-taken date in the Photo Library. How do I make iPhoto disregard the eXIF information? I understand I can go to Last Import and then manually change the date the photo was taken, but this is very cumbersome when importing a quantity of photos.

  • Photostream photos out of order on Apple TV

I just installed my new Apple TV and ran the software update. I then set it up to connect with Photostream using my Apple account, and my photos started appearing. So far, so good!
Then I discovered a couple of serious bugs:
    1) My iPhone and iPad (both running iOS 6) both show 529 photos in my Photostream.  The Apple TV only shows 144 photos.  Both the first and last photo in my stream show up on the Apple TV.  All the missing photos seem to be somewhat scattered throughout the middle of the stream.
    2) The order of the photos in on the Apple TV doesn't have any logic to it.  On the iOS devices they are arranged by date, but on the Apple TV it's a complete jumble.  Photos taken weeks apart are right next to each other, and photos taken on the same day are separated by dozens of other photos taken at different times.
Anyone have any idea what's going on or how to fix it???  Thanks!

Good to know that someone else is having this issue.  After several weeks of trying to use this feature I have given up.  There doesn't seem to be any correlation between what's on my Photostream on iOS devices (I have three and they all show identical Photostream content) and my new Apple TV which just randomizes the content.
I have discovered one interesting thing.  Although the photos that show up in my automatic Photostream on Apple TV continue to be randomized, shared Photostreams that I have created seem to behave as they should.  What shows up on my iOS devices matches what is on Apple TV and in the correct order.

  • Photos out of order. How to change the 'Date Taken' date on ipod touch?

Since updating to ios8, some of my camera photos have randomly changed their dates to 2015. Does anyone know how I can change the date on these back so that they appear in the right sequence?

Yes. You can batch change those photos with the Photos->Batch Change->Date menu option. You an add a time differential between every photo so they will be chronologically sorted in the order you put them before changing the date.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Photos Out of Order

After I installed Tiger, my photo library became jumbled. Before picture files were organized by year then date taken. After loading the new software my pictures came back all over the place. Under each year, my files now shows all kinds of new stuff instead of the organized dates the pictures were taken in before. Now my information is organized in 'Rolls' and some other weird files looking like '2006-05-31212.11". The 'Rolls' made no sense ... they are pictures from all over the place. Also, the information on each photo now only shows date modified, not date taken. I can't find anything. Does anyone have any idea what happened and how I can restore my library to the way it was before? I'm new to Mac so please explain simply. Thank you!

iPhoto 6 changed the filing system from date based to rolls based. It's a behind the scenes change and has no effect on your use of the programme.
The question is can you see, organise and edit your photos inthe iPhoto Window?
iPhoto is a database, image viewer and (lightweight) editor. It is designed so that everything you need to do can be done through the iPhoto Window. You can arrange the photos by date, location, keywords or any way you choose. The actual files don't move, it's all done by the application in the database.
What are you trying to do in the iPhoto Library Folder in the Finder? Want to find a file - Right click on the photo in the iPhoto WIndow and select 'Show File'. Want a copy of the pic to give to someone? File -> Export or just drag the photo fom the iPhoto WIndow to the desktop.
If you want to restore things to the way there were before, then you will have to create your own filing system and recreate your library. But is there a need to?
One warning: iPhoto organises the iPhoto Library Folder in it's own way, and if you change, move or otherwise alter things in there it can cause the application to fail or even data loss. It is strongly recommended that you make all your interactions via the iPhoto WIndow.
If you require any help organising things in the iPhoto WIndow by all means ask further questions or consult the Help.

  • Tree Issue--Data out of order?

    All,
I suspect this is more of a generic SQL question, but, anyhow, I'm trying to create a tree report of the items in our bills of materials. When I run the page, the tree is empty (not even a root). Trying to figure out what the problem is, I've copied the SQL into Toad and run it; the results seem to be scrambled, which I suspect is why the tree is failing. Here's the query:
    select case when connect_by_isleaf = 1 then 0
                when level = 1             then 1
                else                           -1
           end as status,
           level,
           comp_item_number as title,
           null as icon,
           comp_inventory_item_id as value,
           null as tooltip,
           null as link
    from apex.bom_tree_v
    where organization_id = 126
    start with comp_item_number = 'C70-1039'
    connect by prior comp_inventory_item_id = parent_item_id
order siblings by comp_item_numberThe query returns 64 rows for my test item, which is correct, but the top-level item (level = 1) is returned as the 10th row (consistently), rather than the first. All of the documentation I've been able to find indicates that the rows should be returned in hierarchical order.
Anyone have any idea what I'm missing?
    -David

    Good afternoon David,
Trees in APEX are not even closely populated the same as in Forms. What I did was this:
<li>Query the top of your tree...
<li>Do a UNION ALL SELECT for the next level of your tree
<li> and repeat the UNION ALL SELECT for each indented level of your tree.
    Mine looks something like this:
    select 'A' id,
            null as pid,
            'Table Of Contents' name,
            NULL link,
            'f?p=&APP_ID.:1:&APP_SESSION.:CONTRACT,A' A1,
            'f?p=&APP_ID.:1:&APP_SESSION.:EXPAND,A' A2
       from dual
      union all
    select ltrim(rtrim(to_char(toc_seq_id))) id,
            'A' pid,
            toc_description name,
            'f?p=&APP_ID.:1:&APP_SESSION.:::RP:TOCP:' || toc_seq_id link,
            'f?p=&APP_ID.:1:&APP_SESSION.:CONTRACT,' || TO_CHAR(toc_seq_id) ||'::RP:TOCP:' || TO_CHAR(toc_seq_id) A1,
            'f?p=&APP_ID.:1:&APP_SESSION.:EXPAND,' || TO_CHAR(toc_seq_id) ||'::RP:TOCP:' || TO_CHAR(toc_seq_id) A2
       from my_toc
      where state_id = :P1_STATE
        and toc_level = 1
        and (toc_seq_id < 9
          or  (toc_seq_id < 10 and :P1_User_Type = 2)
          or  (toc_seq_id < 10 and :P1_CUSTOM_USER = 'Y')
          or  (toc_seq_id < 15 and :P1_User_Type > 2 and :P1_CUSTOM_USER != 'Y'))
    union all
    select ltrim(rtrim(toc_seq_id)) id,
            ltrim(rtrim(toc_parent)) pid,
            toc_description name,
            'f?p=&APP_ID.:' || ltrim(rtrim(to_char((toc_parent+2)))) || ':&APP_SESSION.:::RP:P1_ENTRY_ID:' || toc_entry_id link,
            null a1,
            null a2
       from my_toc
      where state_id = :P1_STATE
        and toc_level = 2
        and (toc_parent < 9
          or (toc_parent = 9 and :P1_User_Type = 2)
          or  (toc_seq_id < 10 and :P1_CUSTOM_USER = 'Y')
          or  (toc_seq_id < 15 and :P1_User_Type > 2 and :P1_CUSTOM_USER != 'Y'))
order by 3,1The code that looks like this:
'f?p=&APP_ID.:' || ltrim(rtrim(to_char((toc_parent+2)))) || ':&APP_SESSION.:::RP:P1_ENTRY_ID:' || toc_entry_id link,is building a link to a page based on the value of the entry (:P1_ENTRY_ID) so the user can click on an entry and jump to that item.
My tree looks like this: (I can't paste an image, so I'll wing it with text - notice my tree started out with
entry zero [0] because I had to add it after the tree was built)
    - Table of Contents
+ 0. First branch of my tree
+ 1. Second branch of my tree
      -  2. Third branch - expanded
+  Entry 1 for third level
+  Entry 2 for third level
+ 3. Fourth branch of my tree
+ 4. Fifth branch of my treeIt took me awhile to figure all of this out, but once I did, it began to make sense.
The whole idea is that each SELECT will select the next indented level in the tree. Then in the end, use ORDER BY 3,1 to order your tree properly by the parent and then the child within the parent.
I hope this makes sense and that it helps.
    Good luck,
    Don.

  • Photos not synced correctly to iphone... Unorganized and out of order

After syncing my Iphone 4s with my macbook pro, all of my "Event" photos are out of order. If I open a specific event there will be photos that do not belong there and have no relation to that event... Same with the "faces" feature... I will specifically look for all pictures with "Mary's" face and majority of the pictures are other people with "Mary" not even in those pictures...
I have looked at my macbook and all of the photos seem to be correct on that and in the right locations... Not sure how to fix this problem or what to do :-/
This is a feature that I use constantly and would appreciate if someone could help guide me to correcting it....

    Hi Tasha48323,
If you are having issues with unusual or incorrect data after a recent sync with iTunes, you may want to turn off the sync options for Photos, click Apply (this should clear that data off the iPhone), then turn Photo syncing back on and Apply again (which should resync all the data back). You may find the Resolution section of the following article helpful (the article primarily concerns a slightly different issue, but the steps are the same):

  • Photos syncing from folder to iPhone all out of order?

I have 2 folders synced to my iPhone 4 photo app.
They were previous camera rolls before I set up my phone as a new device. They are all named in order and taken in order, for example IMG_001.jpg was my first picture in my old camera roll. IMG_822.jpg was the last photo taken before I did the backup, and is the last in the folder.
The folder I am syncing from on my windows computer displays all of the pictures by filename (and because of that, by date) but when syncing with iTunes they end up on the phone ALL out of order. I can't find any rhyme or reason to how they are displaying. Most of the earlier photos show up at the beginning like they should, and the last at the bottom of the scroll appear to be mostly right, but then it's completely random from there.
I've tried unsyncing them, removing them, and then adding them back again and nothing seems to work. I've even tried renaming the IMG_xxx numbers to different things and they still appear to sync in the same random order.
Am I doing something wrong, or is this a huge bug for someone with OCD like me? lol

    This is highly annoying.
I have probably 15-20 Smart Albums in iPhoto 8.1.2 in OS10.6.4 that are syncing to iOS4.0
On the old software, my Smart Albums for photos would show up AS the smart albums I created. Now they show up in the iPhone one giant mess called "Photo Library".
I can view photos broken up under "Events" on the iPhone by specific dates, but the dates don't tell me what the name of the event was, and some Smart Albums had multiple dates grouped together in one Smart Album and I don't really want them broken out separately by date. I want them organized how I organized them...
In short, I want my photos grouped the way I have explicitly grouped them. It used to work, it doesn't now.
Since iOS4.0 I am also getting sync errors all the time in iTunes. "iPhone cannot be synced because the required file cannot be found." WHICH FILE??? tell me and I will delete it...
I've rebuilt the entire database in iPhoto (took 4 hours). I've scanned iTunes and removed all broken links and duplicate files. I've scanned the hard drive with the disk tool. I've emptied the iPhone and reinstalled iOS4 on it 5 times. I've turned syncing off for all non-essential applications and stuff I don't actually sync like voice memos. Same problem.
I think I want my iOS 3 back. I don't really like multitasking anyway, always having to turn off applications for the one or two times in a million where task switching if helpful...
    Ugh....

  • After syncing Pc-Ipad my Photo's are out of order. In the folders they don't follow the Date-order. I use Itunes 10.6.1.7 and Ipad 5.1. The Problem is the same with XP and Windows 7.

After syncing PC-Ipad my Photo's on Ipad2 are out of order. In the Folders/Albums the Photo's are no longer in the order of (EXIF) dates. I have updated Itunes to 10.6.1.7 and IPad2 to 5.1. I have reset the IPad2. I cleaned the Photo-cache and removed Itunes and Installed again. I tried it with Windows 7 (64) and XP, makes no difference. I tried it with one Album, Photo's also out of order. It doesn't seem to happen with my Ipad1 older software version. I there a bug in the newest software? Thanks for Help!

  • Photos synch out of order

Photos from some of my albums synch out of order when I upload them. How can I prevent this or else how can I fix the order on the iPod? The photos are numbered and should have stayed in order. (Most albums loaded in order - a few didn't.)

    I had the same problem when I converted a Power Point to .jpg files. Each slide was given a number 1, 2, 3, . . . 10, 11, 12, . . .
The problem is that the iPod reads the numbers and shows the photos "alphabetically" so the order ends up being 1, 10, 11, 12, . . . 2, 20, . . .
    You need to renumber or rename each photo either so they're 01, 02, 03, . . . or a, b, c, . . .

  • Import photos are out of order

I hope I can explain this so it makes sense.  I am trying to import photos from a compact flash card.  When they come into Lightroom they are out of order.  I have tried sorting them by all the different means in the drop down but still are not correct.  I notice that for some reason some of the photos show incorrect dates and that seems to be what is affecting the import.  Lightroom is putting the photos from the oldest date first.  I was able to load the pictures into a folder on the desktop and they are in the correct order just using the camera file names.  When I tried to load them from that folder into Lightroom, they went back to the incorrect order.  Is there a way to import without the metadata?  Is that what is fouling this up?  I don't know where these weird dates have come from but they are there and I can't get rid of them.
I am running Lightroom on an imac with OS 10.4.11 and this is the first I have run into this problem.  These photos are from an older camera, a Nikon Coolpix 885 and are my son's photos.  I normally import from my Canon camera using a compact flash with a reader  and have never had such a problem.  Here I am talking up Lightroom to my son about how easy it is to get the photos in and organize them and he is not buying it at this point.  Hopefully this makes sense and someone knows what is going on.
    Thanks

The date information is taken from the camera which writes it to the file. This needs to be set to the correct date and time in the camera itself.
The order the images are shown in the Library mode is set by clicking on the sort button in the tool bar, which if not showing can be activated from view, tool bar. There are different sort orders that can be applied including sorting by file name. You can also sort by dragging the images to the order you wish them to appear in by selecting user order.
