Mavericks Safari Runs unbearably slow ever time I 'command+t'
I have mavericks running on my 2009 Mac Pro and 13" Macbook Air. There is always a lag in opening new tab that a link automatically sends me to or if I want to open a new tab by clicking "command+t". But If I cmd-click a link, the tab is created immediately in the background. It's never been the case before mavericks.
When I first installed Mavericks there was no issue and things ran like butter. Now not so much (safari).

Safari runs toooo SLOW after Time Warner took over from Adelphia cable
I have a Motorala cable modem SB5100 which with my previous Adelphia cable connection worked great. About 3 months ago, Time Warner took over Adelphia here in San Diego. Since that time, my commuter has been running sooo slow! I talked with the Time warner tech who suggests my modem may not be working. My question to you techies (which I am not) is it the modem which they are trying to get me to change (I own it) and rent theirs or is it my computer?? Could I have picked up a virus or have I done something to my computer which is slowing the internet use. It takes forever to access any site or turn a page. I find it hard to believe that my modem is the issue since it worked fine with Adelphia. TWC in fact uses the same modem as I have with other clients. Is there anything else I can do or run to see if it is the computuer versus the modem? Any help is greatly appreciated.

This is what I did (subsequent to the referenced
thread)
Go to the System Preferences>Network panel
- Location - set up a personal location by clicking
on the drop down menu and selecting "add a location".
Use a name familiar to you. Once established,
select "apply".
Next, click on the "Show" drop down menu and select
Network Port Configurations. Only Ethernet (or
Airport) ought to be checked. Move it to the top of
the list (you can drag it). Select "apply".
Back to the "Show" menu, depending on your
connection select "Ethernet" or "Airport". Click on
the TCP panel. There enter 4.2.2.2 in the DNS
servers box and select "apply". Or, as an
alternative, follow the DNS suggestions outlined
here.
Personally, I have found the OpenDns codes to be most
effective for my system.
There is no virus affecting Macs.

Problem description:
My computer is running very slow ever since I switched to Yosemite. I get the multicolored wheel just opening my browser at times and waiting for a page to open, or an application. Any ideas other than rebooting my computer to get the problem to alleviate for a few days?

Flash runs unbearably slow on my Powerbook, help!
Heya,
So I'm running a 12" Powerbook with a 1.33 Ghz G4, 1.25 GB RAM, and an NVidia GeForce FX Go5200 64MB RAM... Flash runs unbearably slow on my machine and it just happened all of the sudden. Although this issue came up the first time about two years ago I just bore the burden of it. But being a web developer it's just ridiculous. Now this only happens with videos, and no it's not related to the buffer, I've read that there an issue with Flash rendering techniques that caused it to slow down dramatically at like Flash 8 or something. I desperately need help resolving this and I'm wondering if anyone can help?? Thanks!Hello,
How much available disk space is there?
Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon on your Desktop, then click: Get Info. In the Get Info window, click the discovery triangle so it's facing down. You will see; Capacity and Available Make sure you have 10% available disk space, 15% is better. Your Mac needs free disk space in order to render video. Could that be the issue?
Wouldn't hurt to check the boot disk for errors:
If not, shut down PBook. Now, press the power button, hold down the C key, and insert the restore disk all at the same time. Keep holding down the C key until you see the Apple logo. An Installer window will open but DO NOT proceed with any installations, instead from the Menu Bar, select Utilities/Disk Utility. In the DU window, select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab and click: Verify If DU reports errors, click Repair. When it's finished, from the Menu Bar select Utilities/Startup Disk and select MacintoshHD 10.x.x and click Restart.

*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
Are any other web browsers installed, and are they the same? What about other Internet applications, such as iTunes and the App Store?
If other browsers and Internet applications are also affected, follow these instructions and test. Any change?
If Parental Controls is active for any user, please turn it off and test. Any change?
If only Safari is affected, launch the Activity Monitor application and enter "web" (without the quotes) in the search box. If a process named "Safari Web Content" is shown in red or is using more than about 5% of a CPU, select it and force it to quit by clicking the X or Quit Process button in the toolbar of the window. There may be more than one such process. Any improvement?
Follow the instructions in this support article. Any change?
Open the iCloud preference pane and uncheck the box marked Photos, if it's checked. Any change?
Are there any other devices on the same network that can browse the Web, and are they affected?
If you can test Safari on another network, is it the same there?
If you connect to your router with Wi-Fi and you can also connect with Ethernet, do that and turn off Wi-Fi. Any difference? -

I have other mac's on my home network that are still running Snow Leopard and the are performing well. I wanted to use the iCloud so I upgraded and instantly started experiencing the slow down, to the point of ridiculousness. Other function are mixed some normal speed, others a day on the beach with the spinning ball. Firefox is at full speed, good thought, haven't checked Chrome yet.
Last night and hooked into a projection unit that adjusted my screen resolution for a presentation and after the event my Mac reset back to the normal settings and Safari launched and is running normal speeds so far. In the past there have been issues with performance speeds and certain resolutions, has anyone had similar luck or is this a fluke? -

since installing OS X Mavericks photoshop (CS6) runs so slow I can hardly use it. Is anyone else having this problem?
The post above is only partially true. There are many people that have install Mavericks over the top of a older version of OS X and haven't experiences any problem. Then of course there are others that have experiences many different problems.
Do you have a Time Machine backup from before you installed Mavericks? If you do, and you should, you can restore your system from that TM backup and then do a clean install of Mavericks on either an external drive or a second partition on your internal drive then use the Setup assistant system to copy over your setting files and apps from your older OS X version. You can then TEST that clean Mavericks install for any compatibilty problem before you commit to it totally. -
Why does my safari run so slow and does not want to download?
I have an IMac Intel running Mountain Lion and my internet Safari is sooo slow or it just does not download. I had to use my laptop to go to support - here - because my desktop safari is still stuck.
Try troubleshooting Safari extensions and third party plugins.
From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari to test. If that helped, turn one extension on then quit and relaunch Safari to test until you find the incompatible extension then click uninstall.
If it's not an extensions issue, try troubleshooting third party plug-ins.
Back to Safari > Preferences. This time select the Security tab. Deselect: Allow all other plug-ins. Quit and relaunch Safari to test.

The following are suggestions for increasing speed;
If you find your Mac is running slowly, here are some suggestions to increase its speed:
*On an Intel-based Macintosh, Universal applications may run more slowly if they have been set to open using Rosetta. To change this setting, select the application's icon and choose File > Get Info. If the "Open using Rosetta" checkbox in the General pane of the info window is selected, deselect it.*
An application you're running may require more memory than your computer has. To see how much memory your computer has, choose Apple > About This Mac. Check the documentation that came with the software to find out what it requires. Check the documentation that came with your computer to find out how to increase its memory.
Quit any application that isn't compatible with your computer. For example, an application may require a different processor or graphics card. To see what processor your computer has, choose Apple > About This Mac. To see what graphics card your computer has, choose Apple > About This Mac, click More Info, and then click Graphics/Display. Check the documentation that came with the software to find out what it requires.
Your computer might not have enough free disk space on your startup disk. To make disk space available, you can move files to another disk and then delete files you no longer need on the startup disk.
Try quitting some of the applications you're not using.
Your computer may decrease the speed of the processor in order to save energy. To have the processor perform at the highest speed, open Energy Saver preferences, click Options, and choose Highest from the Processor Performance pop-up menu.
A computer that has been running for a long time can run more slowly than a computer that has just been restarted. Try restarting your computer by choosing Apple > Restart.

LabVIEW running very slow over time
I have been working on a project at work for a device to measure the torque capacity of a damper. For this I have two torque transducers one small one large. And a linear actuator to help measure an angle using the law of cosines. My problem is within the first 30 seconds the program runs great after a minute or so it starts slowing down. Since this is a testing device safety is a top priorty and I would like to keep the delay to a mininum. The digital out in the while loop creates an output that shuts the linear actuator if the torque gets too high. Any ideas would be helpful to speed this up.

You have 3 arrays that you are building continuously in shift registers. As they grow, the computer needs to find ever larger pieces of contiguous memory to store those arrays. I'm surprised you are having problems after only 30 seconds, but not surprised you are having the problems ultimately. I bet the reason I listed above is the reason it is happening so fast.
Try using the producer consumer archtitecture to pass the values off to a parallel loop and write the data to file condinuously there.
I see in your instructions you are telling someone to hit the Abort button to stop execution of the code. That is always a bad idea. You should design your program as a state machine where you have different states for running and setting up different parameters. A user should never hit the Abort button (you will fail to clean up tasks properly.) And they really should never need to hit the run button either once the application is compiled into an executable. -
Safari running insanely slow of late
I had thought this might be a Flash thing, but it happened after uninstalling Flash and reinstalling it as well. I rebooted the iMac and the cable modem and Time Capsule and the problem still remains.

Empty the Safari cache Command + Option + E
Delete your History. From your Safari menu bar click History / Clear History.
Too many tabs in one session will slow Safari down.
Check Safari / Preferences - Extensions. If you have any Extensions installed, turn that OFF, quit Safari (Command + Q) then relaunch Safari.
Safari add-ons can also cause Safari to slow down. Help for troubleshooting here.

Everytime I open safari all the sites even apple takes forever to load and is not internet connection I even went out and bought a new modem thinking it was the modem but is still running slow, wifi or ethernet.
