Mavericks Sound gets loud and soft

10.9.5 Retina Display 2.7GHz 16GB
In the past week my volume suddenly gets 50% to 70% louder and after a few moments it returns to the original sound. This happens two or three time in an hour.
Has any one experienced this? If so how can I fix it?

Hello!
My Audigy 2 makes strange things since 3 days. When running Winamp or UT2004 for example (under WinXP SP2) the tone gets louder then becomes softer, stays soft a while then gets louder again, goes to medium and so on...
Does anyone know this problem or have an idea why this could happen? I have the software installed from cd and a quite new driver from the web.
Thanks in advance!
Myscha

I see you said connecting via Analog Connection would work. I've tried to do research online and there seems to be a bunch of conflicting information. Some information says you use Mono to RCA cable, some say Stereo to RCA and then other say for the center/sub you need need a 3 pole or 4 pole to RCA.
Can somebody explain what would be required to hook up a Audigy 2 (and 2 ZS) to a receiver, via analog, that has a seperate RCA Front/Rear/Center-Sub connections ?
Thanks.

• My hard rive has increasingly been getting louder, and the update that Apple has to get rid of it, my computer says it's not necessary and won't open it. Suggestions? Its a mid-2010 with 10.9.2 pro

My hardrive has been increasingly getting louder, and in a search under Macbook Pro services I found my problem, but they said to install the Hard Drive Firmare 2.0. After I downloaded it when it opens under installer, a pop-up says 'This update is not necessary for this computer' and then it autmatically closes the installer. Apart from taking it in to the store (which I will probably have to end up doing), are there any suggestions?

Nilsene,
perhaps your hard drive already has that firmware version installed? That could explain why you’re getting the “this update is not necessary for your computer” pop-up.
Are you making regular backups of your hard drive? Its increasing volume might be an early warning of an approaching disk failure, so if you’re not already doing so, I’d highly recommend purchasing an external disk for use as a Time Machine backup destination — that way, in case of a sudden failure, you won’t permanently lose all of your personal files.

• HF-300 Sound Quality - Loudness and Distortion

Hi,
Just wondering if anybody has any comparative testing on the sound quality and loudness with this unit. I am not sure if mine is faulty or just the best that can be expected from the speakerphone.
Problem is (tested using n95 8 gig and n80) that once the volume is turned up to 70% or more the units sound is distoted terribly. Sounds like the speaker is vibrating and crackling. The symptom is like when you turn up the volume on any speaker beyond its capability which then gets that distortion/vibration effect.
That said when used below 70% volume its too soft to be useable for everyday driving conversations.
Golden question if you own the HF-300 also is can you put it on 100% volume and have loud and clear sound without any negative sound quality? May help if you mention what phone model you have tested youyr with also.
I really think it must be a fault as everything marketed and reviewd about these units states 'loud n clear'. Surely its meant to be used on 100% also without such distortion or why have 100% volume possible.

Sorry to ask again but is the car kit installed with an additional single Nokia speaker or is all audio played through the car audio system (original car speakers)?
Most likely in the second case is that the installer has routed the audio incorrectly.
The kit has two outputs: stereo for music and mono for calls. Mono calls can be installed to run through the single Nokia speaker but musics should be installed to run throught the car stereo 'aux in' channel, hence the question about what audio is distorted.

• Wierd mix issue....some instruments get loader and softer for no reason....

OK...I have a strange problem...in a song, I have a shaker from an Apple loop....it is muted at some points in the song and then comies in out out throughout the song...the strange part is that it changes volumes and tonality DRASTICALLY....it comes in fine, then gets drastically louder and brighter...then at a different part of the song gets very soft and dull, then goes back to the normal level....This is basically an 8 bar loop for 4 minutes...so its all just copied data...and no automation anywhere.....Any ideas? The BTD is a 24bit/96k wave file with no dither....

maybe you've accidentally got your apple loop following chord changes.. I believe there's a setting for that in the global chord track, but I never use this part of logic because it's a bit on the gimmicky side IMO. anyway it would suit the symptoms you are describing, if throughout your song the shaker is being suddenly repitched in real time at various times in your song, that would easily explain why sometimes it is drastically loud and bright, other times soft and dark.. transposing a shaker would have exactly those characteristics.

• When I play minecraft my computer gets loud and hot.

When I play minecraft on my macbook pro, my computer's fan turns on which is very loud, and also my computer gets hot. Normally this wouldn't be a problem but I make Minecraft Youtube videos and it sounds bad in the video.

Sometimes this happens when the computer has to do a lot of work.... What I mean by that is if you have other applications open or applications that are running it has to work minecraft which you are in and the other apps that are running.... To prevent this from happening is when you are playing Minecraft only have like 1 or 2 apps open in the background at a time and none running then the fans don't have to kick in and make the computer get hot. This has happened to me and I did exactly this and it stopped after the first try of doing it.
Hope this helps,

• Sound too loud and distorted from capture

It seems that for some reason when I capture video from my Sony PD170 DV camera, that the sound captured is way too loud on the timeline, even though it reads acceptable on the waveforms and the green lights that go up and down.
My last capture an hour ago, from the timeline, the sound was crakely listening through the computer speaker and headphones. I then listened through headphones directly from the original tape in the camera and it sounded ok.
Any suggestions? A problem with the compouter or a setting I need to adjust in FCP for capturing video?
At System Preferences/Sound the input volume is at half set from the internal mic.

I tried a capture from a friends camera and FCP system. Same problem on time line. Random pencil thin blank spots on the audio wave form. So it must be on the tape. Maybe bad tape, electronic interference in recording room or some camera problem recording. Used two separate wireless lavs. Drop-out in exactly same place on both channels could rule out room interference because of different frequency lavs.
I did short analogue test copy from PD170 to Trv-900 and it eliminated the drop-out. So I am now making full copy to substitute in time line.
I also think that the sound coming in with the capture is too loud and that's the possible problem, but can't figure how to change the level on a capture. Even though the waveform and meter after capture look ok, it still seems pretty loud. The audio control in the Log And Capture/Clip Settings is greyed out at 1.

• After browsing websites, the fans get louder and louder, no internet.

Hi,
With my 2011 Macbook Pro 15inch, I have found that browsing some websites causes the fans to spin up very loud and the internet to drop.
Websites won't load etc. Even after reconnecting to my wireless network. The only thing that seems to fix it is rebooting.
Sometimes this will happen quickly, other times it may take an hour of browsing before the internet stops working and the tell-tale sign of the loud fans
makes an appearance.
All other features of the laptop work, just not the internet. Across all browsers too.
Thanks in advance,
Finn

The only way to know what is going on is to retrieve the certificate and check who is the issuer.
It is always possible that the server doesn't send the full certificate chain (intermediate certificates), so it might help to post a link to this website
Check the date and time in the clock on your computer: (double) click the clock icon on the Windows Taskbar.
Check out why the site is untrusted and click "Technical Details to expand this section.
If the certificate is not trusted because no issuer chain was provided (sec_error_unknown_issuer) then see if you can install this intermediate certificate from another source.
You can retrieve the certificate and check details like who issued certificates and expiration dates of certificates.
*Click the link at the bottom of the error page: "I Understand the Risks"
Let Firefox retrieve the certificate: "Add Exception" -> "Get Certificate".
*Click the "View..." button and inspect the certificate and check who is the issuer of the certificate.
You can see more Details like intermediate certificates that are used in the Details pane.
If "I Understand the Risks" is missing then this page may be opened in an (i)frame and in that case try the right-click context menu and use "This Frame: Open Frame in New Tab".
*Note that some firewalls monitor (secure) connections and that programs like Sendori or FiddlerRoot can intercept connections and send their own certificate instead of the website's certificate.
*Note that it is not recommended to add a permanent exception in cases like this, so only use it to inspect the certificate.

• I just replaced my hard drive on my imac and now when i turn the computer on the fan is running and slowly gets louder and louder. how do i turn it off?

I just replace my hard drive on my imac and now when i turn the computer on the fan starts running and keeps getting louder. How do i turn it off?
thanks.

If your machine was made after 2009 you probably installed th wrong HD. Beginning in 2009 Apple began using HD's that had an integrated fan sensor. If you did not use one of these drives then that is the problem. You should contact OWC (www.macsales.com) or visit your local AASP and they will help you select the correct HD to use.

• My phone was making a hissing sound gets hot and wont get service

Phone was making odd hissing noise that sounded like it was coming from the charging port. The back ofvthephonevgets warm and the phone will not connect or get a signal.... It's new I've only had it for 2 weeks.

If the phone really is only two weeks old, there probably is a problem with it that is not your fault. Bring it into the Apple Store and explain your issue to them and they will more than likely offer you a new phone. Bring it in soon though, before you have it in your posession for too much longer.

• Sound getting chewed and distorted by AE

Hello folks,
Thanks as always for your help.
I am an Ae novice. I imported an Mpeg4 file into Ae with sound and applied some visual effects. The sound in the Mpeg4 is great, but by the time I apply a RAM Preview it is distorted - playing too early, and skipping like a broken tape. I don't have the sound file separately as it is cut up and positioned carefully in Adobe Pr. What can I do? Or, what is going wrong?
Thanks
Andy

That's helpful to know for the future also. Glad to get it working, uploading it to youtube now

• Occasionally, my sound gets distorted and slow, and the Notebook seems to slow or stop totally?

HP Envy 17 Notebook PC, Windows7 using Beats, no changes but has been doing it for months. Just never thought to ask before now. Could my problem be too many audio programs running, My Audio and Sound shows IDT Hi-Def CODEC, Intel(R) Display Audio, and ATI Hi-Def Audio Device all "Enabled" at the same time. Is this normal?

Is anybody knows what's the matter? Any ideas? Any experience?
Maybe I posted my problem in a wrong way.

• MacBook 2.4 Ghz Duo running Mavericks is getting slower and buffering when streaming, Whasup?

I just got U-Verse and I'm either really, really disappointed in it, or there's something wrong with my little MacBook. It buffers when streaming on the U-verse site. Moving from one tab to another takes lots more time. Frankly, I'm not used to watching TV any longer, but I give up trying to watch "live TV". I've had the Ma Bell repairman out to fix the wifi situation and I think that's ok now. Any ideas?

• Macbook Pro Super Drive Loud Whirring Sound during Burn and Verify

Hi there!
I am using Toast 7 and when I burn DVD's I have noticed that the Super Drive gets a very loud whirring sound that seems to get louder and softer during the first 2 minutes of burning and then during the first 2 minutes of verifying; then it's quiet as a mouse. It's very unnerving; the discs seem fine. Anyone know if this is normal before I head to the Apple Store?

They are kind of noisy drives. Lots more head movement early since they burn center out and less so as they get to the edges since each pass covers a lot more ground. I use it is infrequently as I can becuase it is so slow. A $100 external LaCie drive will pay for itself by burning at 16X instead of about 4.

• My iPhone 4S wont play sound out loud...

It's acting like it's plugged into a speaker, which it's not. It will not play sound out loud, and there's no volume bar. And when it does, it's literally for 2 seconds then goes back to no sound... I have no idea what made it start doing this. It was not dropped or anything.... Any suggestions?

Is the Silent on? the little button on the side near the volume, If it is it will be orange. That might be your problem.
