Mavericks System Prefs Internet Accounts

The real new feature now is that I can setup an email account under Systems Prefs but I need to re-edit the entries in Apple Mail anyway. Wow!

Do a backup.
Quit Mail.
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J.  When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder. Go to Library/Containers/com.apple.mail.  Move the folder com.apple.mail to your desktop. You must move the entire folder, not just the contents.
Restart, re-launch Mail and test. If the problem is solved, recreate any required Mail settings and import any emails you want to save from the folder on the desktop. You can then put the folder in the Trash. If the problem remains, return the folder to where you got it replacing the one that is there.

  • Mail app and System Preferences--Internet Accounts keeps crashing

I can't figure out how to stop mail from crashing and I am running OS X Yosemite.  Some people say that you can remove the internet account, but when I go to system preferences, It always crashes the internet accounts section.  I also can' find the com.apple.mail plist in library.  Does anyone know how to fix this?

  • System preferences: Internet accounts: Facebook username or password incorrect

First I was unable to connect iPhoto to Facebook. Then I deleted my Facebook connection from Internet Accounts under System Preferences. When I tried to add it back I get:

I am using the correct email address and password.
    Any suggestions?

Dansuz1, Welcome to the discussion area!
The Internet Connect is indicating that encryption is enabled on the network and the password you are using is incorrect.
I know the base stations user name and password and can contact through the admin utility.
That is a different password than the one used for encryption.

  • How do I change my Apple ID on my iMac. It is showing an old ID in System Preferences/Internet Accounts and System Preferences/iCloud

My iPhone, iPad and iMac Safari access to the Apple Store and iCloud are fine and accept my new Apple ID. Mail constantly prompts me for a password with a box that shows my old Apple ID. I'm guessing that somewhere on the iMac I can change or delete the old Apple ID? It's not in the Keychain.
    iMac OS X 10.10
    Mail 8

Thanks Eric. If I try, I get a box with the statement:
Your iCloud account couldn't be removed at this time.
Mail was unable to delete [email protected] (It just shows this as normal black type without the email envelope) Relaunch Mail then sign our of iCloud again.
    It shows an OK box.
The Apple ID shown is of course, the old one, that I am trying to change on the iMac. On my iPhone, iPad, the Apple Store and iCloud via safari, only my new Apple ID is shown.
I tried to insert an image of this scenario but I couldn't insert the chosen 138KB tiff image.

  • Internet accounts error

Like some others, I upgraded to OS X 10.10 and my Messages, FaceTime and iCloud connections stopped working.  I tried to log out & back in to FaceTime - but FaceTime won't work.  My Messages no longer sends to iMessage users.  I tried System Prefs > Internet Accounts and I get a spinning beachball then the error:
    Preferences Error
Could not load Internet Account preference pane.
I ran this command in the console (thanks Linc):
    find ~ $TMPDIR.. \( -flags +sappnd,schg,uappnd,uchg -o ! -user $UID -o ! -perm -600 \) 2>&- | wc -l | pbcopy
and the result it posted to the clipboard was 996
    Now what?

I have also followed the test steps of removing the specified com.apple. and iMessage entries from the KeyChain of this computer. I deleted the flash storage and ensured that my SOCKS proxy was not enabled.
I logged out and back in.  Then I tried to open Internet Accounts again - and this is what I got from the System Message Logs:

  • How do I use Internet accounts to add accounts to mail in mavericks

I used migration Assistant to Migrate to a new Imac(late 2013), The new machine was 10.8.4 so the very first thing I did was add an account so I could update. I suspect this was the root cause of my problem because then when I migrated the account I had to rename it
Everything worked fine except for mail. Note under library/mail I still had a 45Gb folder.
My internet accounts had a list of all the mail accounts I used to have but mail itself was empty. All the accounts are imap so I have not lost mail.
Trying things mentioned on the forum I tried deleting the accounts under internet accounts and re-adding, and I tried importing from the mail folder. Importing sort of worked but created a big mess of mail under a import folder.
Where I am right now. I deleted everything including my library/mail folder.
I go to mail. I do add acount, I add a icloud account, I select paul...me.com It adds the account.
I then can go to accounts and see my me.com address with mail ticked.
And nothing. Mail just sits their blank.
Now I can trick it it into adding one account, when everything is blank, instead of giving me the new system preferences internet accounts it gives me the old accounts from mail 10.8, I can then add 1 account under their and it will work., As soon as it has one account it then goes back to giving me the system preference internet accounts which just lets me add acounts but does not work with mail.

Yes it all works under a new user. Thank you.
At this point the simplest solution is probably to put everything else from the old user into the new one, hopefully without breaking anything else.

  • Mavericks will not allow Internet Account addition

    Hi all,
My hard drive was replaced a few days ago. I need to reconstruct a few elements.
I am currently attempting to add all my LinkedIn contacts through System Preferences > Internet Account. I can insert the ID and password, I get the code sent to my mobile, but there is no field to insert the code.
    Can anyone assist please.
    Thank you for your support.
    Kind regards,
    Brigitte.

Solved this problem by downloading from App Store latest iPhoto App. It took about one hour to install. Everything appears to fuction well, no loss of stored material.

  • Popup message: "Google password required, enter your password for .."  Internet account window in system preferences won't open.  How do I fix?

Google accounts are suddenly offline.  Popup: "Google Password Required, Enter your password for ... in Internet Accounts."  continues to System Preferences/Internet Accounts.  Account window won't open.  I just get the grey circling system-working-on-it icon.  Suggestions.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
              View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then try to open the preference pane. Select any lines that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of which is irrelevant to solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.
Some private information, such as your name or email address, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.

  • Yosemite Upgrade: Missing Internet Accounts/Email Accounts

I have updated Mavericks to Yosemite on my MBP (mid 2013) yesterday, and since then I miss one account in "System Preferences/Internet Accounts" which means I have just 8 instead of my 9 Internet Accounts under Preferences.
The 9th account however does exist in "Mail/Preferences/Accounts" among the others.
Why is this email account not being shown in Preferences/Internet Accounts? And how can I restore/repair/fix it so the number of Internet Accounts equals my total number of setup email accounts?
I am using Time Machine but I was not able to restore my Internet Accounts preferences so far.
    Thank you.

I’ve had both of those problems. This thread has some research on it which also describes my variables: multiple email addresses (domains) all hosted by the same provider on the same domain. Issue with Mail accounts not appearing in System Preferences Internet Accounts

  • Internet Accounts preferences can't connect to the account -

Updating 17th October to Yosemite and working fine until 3rd November.
Mail was suddenly not able to connect to one of my external hosted e-mail accounts. Another account, same external virtual hosting but other domain, username, pwd is still working fine. Account settings in Mail are exact the same for both accounts (IMAP and SMTP). It's now a week trying to find the problem without any result. Very strange is, that Mail is sometimes suddenly able to connect the invalid account: Last week if I was away from the Mac for 20 minutes, coming back, the account was online. I was able to do some mails and cleanup my inbox. It ends if i reboot the Mac. In my network all Mavericks Macs, iPhones, iPads are connecting well this account.
I did a Mail setup just with the invalid account in a clean Guest User. No chance to connect the invalid account. Adding the other working one was just a thing of seconds.
I found that in System Preferences > Internet Accounts for the invalid account a pop-up asks for "Enter the password for …". Doing so it comes up with "Unable to verify account name or password" with the only chance to Cancel. I think there must be a starting point to my problem.
Is anyone knowing about this? Any help is very welcome.

I'll pass this along to all. I have the same smtp issue. I have two Cox email accounts and a number of Gmail accounts. The Cox smtp server goes offline. Gmail is fine. Yesterday I began pressing every button and the following worked, why, beats me.
Open MAIL got to MAIL PULLDOWN then PREFERENCES then ACCOUNTS then SELECT THE EMAIL ACCOUNT and look at ACCOUNT INFORMATION - now at the bottom hit the ARROW at OUT GOING MAIL SERVER (SMTP) which brings up a list of severs SELECT EDIT SMTP SEVER LIST. now this bring up a list of servers  HIT THE ADVANCED BUTTON which brings the properties of the highlighted server below. LOOK AT THE TWO PORT BOXES.
The first selection says USE DEFAULT PORTS (25 465 587)
The second selection asks you to ENTER CUSTOM PORT.
FOR COX: The Cox website says to use port 465. I SELECTED CUSTOM PORT AND ENTERED PORT 465 and exited Preferences AND IT WORKED!!!
    So far so good today.
I have no idea whether this has any relevance to the rest of you using other email servers so good luck.

  • I am trying to change my secondary icloud to become my primary account.  When I try I keep getting a message to first delete my icloud from internet accounts then log back in.  I just cannot seem to figure out how to do this.  Any ideas?

I am trying to change my secondary icloud to my primary icloud.  I've read several posts but can't seem to get any of those to work.  It keeps telling me to change this I need to delete my icloud from internet accounts and sign back in.  How do I do this though?  When I go onto internet accounts, I don't see where I can manage this.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

To change a secondary account you have to delete/sign out of both accounts.   After doing so, you can sign back in with the secondary account ID in System Preferences>iCloud and it will become the primary account.  To delete an account from System Preferences>Internet Accounts, select it on the left sidebar, then click the "-" icon at the bottom to delete it.

  • How can I remove a mail account that does not show up in Internet Accounts?

I have a Mail account that I cannot remove because it does not show up in System Preferences > Internet Accounts.  How can I remove this account permanently?
Here is the account in Mail:
Here is what I get when I try to remove it:
Here is what shows up when I click on Internet Accounts:

Thanks, it was linked in iPhoto.  After removing it from iPhoto I still got the same message when trying to delete the account from Mail.  After rebooting, I was able to remove the account from Mail.

  • I can't get rid of Inactive Internet Accounts

Under System Preferences -> Internet Accounts I have two Inactive accounts that will not go away. I can highlight them and click the ( - ) button at the bottom, and they will go away for about 10 seconds, but then they reappear.
A screen shot is here: http://imgur.com/MaToSzr
    Some additional details:
Through the Internet Accounts panel, I can log in to one of them at a time, and that's actually what I would like in the long run, but there's always at least one inactive ghost sitting there.
If I change my Apple ID to use the inactive one, then I can log into that one, but now the other one becomes the ghost.
Even if I make one them an alternate Apple ID, I can't log into it through the Internet Accounts panel; it says I'm using the wrong password.
My thinking is that if I could find where these reside on the hard drive, I could wipe them and start over fresh.  Anyone have any ideas on what's causing this and how I can fix it?
    Thanks in advance.

After screwing around with it for a while, I finally set the outlook.com e-mail address as the primary e-mail address for the problem Apple ID and went ahead and signed in to that. For whatever reason, the yahoo.com e-mail address didn't re-appear as a ghost so I was as content as I could be considering my need for order. I let it run like that for a day, syncing everything, getting comfortable, and then I went to my Contacts app and found there was an iCloud group that I could not remove. When I went to menu -> Contacts / Preferences and selectedAccounts, there were probably a hundred Inactive accounts associated with the problem Apple ID.
So now I went back into System Preferences / Internet Accounts and tried to uncheck the Contacts sync for the problem Apple ID, but it just kept re-checking itself. So I re-removed the problem Apple ID again. It wasn't reappearing after 10 seconds like it usually did, but I figured that was just a matter of time. Now that I knew there were a 100 ghost address books, I set out to remove them all.
I navigated to /Users/yourname/Library/Application Support/AddressBook/Sources where I found all of the ghost address books. Each one has it's one folder and in each unique folder is aConfiguration.plist file that has the associated e-mail account in the text somewhere. I went through each Configuration.plist file and for every one that had the problem Apple ID associated with it, I deleted it's parent folder. I closed and re-started theContacts app and all of the 100 ghost accounts were gone. Also, during the 30+ minutes it took me to delete all those, the ghost account never re-appeared in System Preferences / Internet Accounts.
My theory is that those 100 or so inactive Address books kept re-populating the Internet Accounts in System Preferences.

  • Yosemite - could not load internet accounts preference pane - same for icloud - mail not running

    After Up-Grade to Yosemite 10.10:
    Mail not working
Preferences Error Could not load Internet Accounts preference pane
Preferences Error Could not load iCloud Accounts preference pane
Had several issues when upgrading from Mountain Lion to Yosemite 10.10. Finally it seemed to work. When starting Mail, I tried to restore data from Time Machine (did a back-up under Mountain Lion immediately before up-grading to Yosemite). This ran for over 2 h when I suddenly noticed that "Mail quit unexpectedly. Since then I cannot work with Mail at all.
I read on the forum that many people have issues with Mail in Yossemite but apparently it's different from what I am experiencing, and it seems that none of the proposed solutions work for me.
I can start Mail, but I will only see the bar on top of the screen. Mail "Preferences" remains grey (= cannot click).
When choosing Mail "Accounts", System Preferences opens and then I get the "Preferences Error Could not load Internet Accounts preference pane."
I noticed then that I get a similar error when clicking "iCloud" in System Preferences: "Preferences Error Could not load iCloud Accounts preference pane."
I can open "Internet Accounts" and "iCloud" in System Preferences when I log in as a guest without any errors, but as soon as I log in with my user name, I get the same errors.
As suggested elsewhere in this forum, I removed the com.apple.mail-shared.plist in library and tried the same with com.apple.internetaccounts.plist.
I've spent hours on this and find this increasingly frustrating. I would try another new installation of Yosemite, if only I could be confident it would work this time...
Any advice how to solve this will be appreciated!

    Hey Sage,
    Glad you got it fixed!
I had exactly the same problems, but found this solution on another thread courtesy of Paul Pharoah which saved the trouble of another clean install and seems to have fixed everything  . It appears the problem lies somewhere in the mail account settings.
"I 've had the same problem today and tried lots of the suggested solutions around, all without success until....
    1.  I moved all the files in ~/Library/Mail/V2 to the desktop
    2. Deleted the folder
    3. Deleted my two email accounts (Gmail and exchange server) using System Preferences>Internet Accounts
    4. Re-started Mail.  It now re-started as if for the first time and asked me to re-input my mail accounts which I did.
    5. Mail up and running again."
from thread: Re: Yosemite mail crash
    Cheers!

  • ICloud gone from Internet Accounts... stuck!

iCloud has got me by the neck. I have been ignoring warning signs for months, pretending that my three Macs, plus an iPad, were properly syncing — but I was disregarding the appearance of unwarranted duplicate entries in my Mac Contacts app (for example). And I knew that mail deleted from my iPad Mail app was not being deleted (synced) with my Mac Mail inbox.
But the real cockup came when I changed my iCloud password (from my iPad), and suddenly my Mac lost access to its iCloud mailbox. From my Mac’s System Preferences > iCloud, I tried to sign in with my new password, but that failed, with the advice: “[email protected] is already signed in to iCloud. To use this Apple ID as your primary iCloud account, delete it from Internet Accounts and sign in again.”
So, from my Mac’s System Preferences > Internet Accounts pane, I selected iCloud  (on the right side, not the left), and clicked the minus ( - ) button, to delete it. This removed iCloud from the list of accounts on the left.
Then, selecting iCloud on the right, a “Sign in” window appeared, asking for my Apple ID and password “to set up iCloud on this computer.” Entering this data, a new window appeared, advising me, “Already signed in as [email protected] This iCloud account already exists.”
And that is as far as I can get.
    • iCloud is gone from the Internet Accounts pane;
    • I am being told that I am already signed in;
    • Mac Mail no longer retrieves Incoming email;
    • My Apple ID and password do not give me access to iCloud.
    I’m stuck. Any ideas?

After Restarting my Mac, I entered my Apple ID and (new) password in the iCloud section of System Preferences. This brought up the Internet Accounts section, where I was able to select the iCloud option, and enter my Apple ID and PW a second time.
My first (and current) Apple ID was (and remains) [email protected] — although it appears in Mail > Preferences > Account Information with the Alias [email protected] (and indicates, in greyed type, that the Email Address for this account is [email protected]
I do have 2 or 3 other (older) Macs, plus an iPad, which are registered with my original Apple ID: [email protected]
I do not have any other iCloud account. Just the one, with two versions of the same default email address.
