Mavericks Update - Error message - The product distribution file could not be verified
Help!
Trying to download mavericks (from 10.7.5) as I have just had a new hard disk isntalled and need to start from scratch.
Wanting to re download iphoto but I can't as I need a newer OS so trying to download mavericks from the app store. My internet is very slow and keeps cutting out so I have tried a few times but it's not working.
Now I'm getting an error message - 'the product distribution fil could not be verified'
If anyone can help that would be great.
Or even let me know where I can get a copy of iphoto to suit OS 10.7.5 so I don't need to download a whole new OS.
You're trying to download a 5 GB file. If your Internet connection is lousy, you won't have much success. Try another network.

Whenever I try to update my iPhoto program I get this error message "The product distribution file could not be verified. It may be damaged or was not signed."
Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, or by a peripheral device.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including Wi-Fi on certain iMacs. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test. -

I try to download the OS X Mountain Lion, and I keep getting an error saying, "The product distribution file could not be verified. It may be damaged or was not signed." Please Help!
If you have Intego VirusBarrier X6 installed
1. Open /Applications/VirusBarrier X6.
2. Click on the "Surf" button.
3. Click on the "Ad Banner Filter" tab.
4. Click "OFF" next to "Banner advertisement filter".
5. Start the computer in Safe Boot, then restart the computer into normal mode.
If don't not have Intego Virus Barrier installed
1. Verify that the date and time is correct on the computer.
2. Safe Boot once, then restart normally, then try downloading again.
3. Try with a different user account if the issue persists
If the issue persists
Install Lion onto an empty partition (internal or external).
Note: You can Use Disk Utility to live partition the internal drive and create a second partition large enough to install Lion.
Start from the clean installation of Lion.
Download Mountain Lion from the Mac App Store. Note that the original startup disk can be set as the destination for Mountain Lion during the installation process. -

I keep getting the message "The product distribution file could not be verified. It may be damaged or was not signed." Does anyone know what I can do to correct this so I can download OSX?
I have a MacBook Pro with all the necessary requirements. Here are a few things to try:
Restart your Modem and Router.
Reset iTunes Store Cache (iTunes Preferences, Advanced tabl)
Delete the App Store plists (close App Store first):
~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.appstore.plist
~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.storeagent.plist
To get to these,iIf you still have your user Library hidden, hold down the Option key and select Library from the Go menu in Finder. Otherwise, just go into your home folder, then Library, and then Preferences. -
I have tried to re-install Lion, delete different cach folders, etc., nothing is working - I keep getting the same message:
We could not complete your purchase
The product distribution file could not be verified. It may be damaged or was not signed.
Please can anyone be of kind assistance.
Thank you!
Zanjan FromerI have tried to re-install Lion
If you are trying to reinstall Lion, you need to use Lion Recovery
Why can't I purchase and download Mountain Lion? I get the following message: The product distribution file could not be verified. It may be damaged or was not signed.
For that issue, quit the App Store if it's open.
Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar top of your screen click Go > Go to Folder
Type this exactly as you see it here:
/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration
Click Go
Move the NetworkInterfaces.plist file from the SystemConfiguration folder to the Trash.
Relaunch the App Store and try downloading MLion.
***** Your post is rather confusing. There's a difference between reinstalling Lion and downloading Mountain Lion. -
when trying to download Mountain Lion after click on buy I get this message: The product distribution file could not be verified. It may be damaged or was not signed.

"The product distribution file could not be verified. It may be damaged or was not signed."
please help! i want to update my computer!!!"Update your new MacBook Pro"?
Well, if your MacBook Pro is new, it already has Mavericks installed and there is nothing to update.
Go to the Menu Bar, and click the Apple logo. Then click "About This Mac." Does it show OS X 10.9 or 10.9.1?
If so you are already running Mavericks. -
I just tried to buy Mountain Lion but I am getting this message, yes, even after I reboot: The product distribution file could not be verified. It may be damaged or was not signed.
I don't understand what this means? Is my MacBookPro too old to work with Mountain Lion? The Apple Support Communities are an international user to user technical support forum. I tried to download the upgrade and it started, but I think my connection was spotty because then it stopped and when I tried to redownload that is the message that keeps popping up. Also I bought the computer in America in July, but am now living in Japan. Not sure if that makes any difference whatsoever, but I figured as much info as I could give would help. I appreciate any advice.
Try this...
Quit the App Store if it's open.
Relaunch the App Store and try downloaing Mountain Lion.
Might also need to disable anti virus software and turn off the Firewall in System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Firewall.

720 x 480 vs. 640 x 480, which one to use?
This is not a iMovie specific question, but it is related. I always thought that SD was 640 x 480 and I always format any stills I use for that format. Everything has been fine. 640 x 480 = 4:3. Recently somebody said that you should format for 720 x
