Mavericks upgrade doesn't continue after restart.

I've downloaded the Mavericks upgrade and clicked to install it. It prompts me to accept the EULA, then says a restart is required. I restart, but when the machine reboots I'm greeted by my PGP disk encryption screen, then a logon screen. At no point does the upgrade continue. I've downloaded the installer 3 times, but it makes no difference.
I haven't found any similiar problems searching the web. There doesn't seem to be anything wrong with my disk. It just boots up to the previous version without performing an upgrade.
Any ideas?

To tell you the truth, I don't know if they have to repalce the LCD panel or what they do for a bad backlight. In this reality of block or assembly replacement it probably involves repalcing the panel and not the backlight component. Don't know what it would cost. You'd have to ask that of a service center.

My iMac 21 Display doesn´t work after restart. If I turn it off and 1 hour later I want use it again the iMac shows the white screen with the mac logo and then the display goes off. I connected an external display to check if the iMac was ON and with the external display I can login and do everything but the iMac Display doesn´t work .
If I turn it off and wait 3 or 4 hours  and then turn it back on the display works OK.
This is very strange behavior I have spent hours and hours trying to fine the solution or a similar issue but nothing so I am looking help here at apple.com
BTW When I bougth the iMac 21 there were some spots over the display so the display was replaced by the provider. The warranty has expired by now.

  • Tiger installation doesn't start after restart

I'm trying to install Tiger using the dvd and after i double click the icon, it asks me to restart.. so i click restart and upon restart, nothing happens. All it does is restart my computer. I have all the proper specs necessary and went through the troubleshooting methods to no avail. Any ideas?
    Thanks

Three things. Check the DVD and make sure that it's clean as a whistle and doesn't have scratches. Run a lens cleaner on the CD/DVD device. Pop the disk in, launch Disk Utility, and do a checksum on the disk (Images->Checksum).

  • "Announce the time" doesn't work after restart, even the box is checked...

    Hi all,
    System: OSX 10.8.2 Mountain Lion
Machine: Macbook Pro 13.3" with Retina display
I checked the box saying "Announce the time" in Date and Time Preferences, and it did pretty well after I first checked it.
However, every time after I restart my macbook, it doesn't announce the time any more!
I go to Date and Time Preferences, the box "Announce the time" is still checked, but not working!
(And I am sure my macbook is not in a silent mode and I even increase the volume.)
    Why so? Please help.

    Thank you for replying, @pennbank.
I reset and it worked well as when I checked the option the very first time. However, when I restart the computer, it won't announce the time... I have to uncheck the option and check the option so it will work.
But I am really tired of check and uncheck the option whenever I restart my computer...

  • Assign To "All Desktops" doesn't work after restart

Is anyone else having this problem?
I have several apps that I have assigned to show on "All Desktops"; however, after I do a restart, and these apps are magically restored, though they still claim to be assigned to "All Desktops" they only appear on the first desktop.
I have to then assign them to "This Desktop" and back again to "All Desktops" before they will actually display on all desktops.
Though I seldom restart, it is annoying to have to go through the apps and re-set their display settings each time.
I don't know if it is possibly part of the problem, but all the apps I have set to "All Desktops" I display on my second monitor (I do this so I can have things like Safari on my second monitor, and always available, no matter what I am working in on my main display).

This thread offers a solution, but it's vague and too broad: https://discussions.apple.com/message/16190593#16190593
I don't want to delete all my preferences and have to set them up again. So I did some research and I think I figured out a more targeted solution. The preferences file for Spaces in Lion is located here: ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.spaces.plist
For some reason, ~/Library is hidden by default in Lion, so to get there you'll have to unhide it. Enter this command in Terminal: chflags nohidden ~/Library
Then, to open and edit that file, you'll need to download the XCode tools, here: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/xcode/id448457090?mt=12
Finally, you'll want to open spaces.plist, find the line that refers to the application you're having trouble with, e.g.:
            "com.apple.finder" = "3C65046B-FA18-4983-9219-8140A2B81A41";
Change that long string of letters to "AllSpaces". Save the file and restart and (I hope) that should do it. Will report back when I've tried this. Still waiting for the rather large XCode application to download from the App Store.

  • Mavericks: Delay in opening files after restart or sleep.

    Hi,
I have an Early 2003 MacBook Pro with 8GB of RAM and SSD Drive. I installed Mavericks from scratch twice and this problem persists.
After my machine goes to sleep or rebooted, when opening MACINTOSH HD, it takes about 15 seconds to show the files within that folder. That delay is really starting to annoy me and I have done a restore from factory twice and the problem persists.
Is this happening to you? How do I fix it?

    Hi TBA1959
If you want to fix your problems you need to start a new Discussion.
The OP has an Early 2003 MacBook Pro. No one knows what that is.

  • Mail and iCal doesn't work after restart

Hello, after rebooting my Macbook Air I can't use Mail and iCal, which is starting automatically in the background. Please help me. Thanks

    Try these things:
First, restart the computer, test.  If the problem persists:
Test in a new user; if the problem persists, reinstall your OS (boot up the computer holding "option".  Click Recovery HD, then click "reinstall Mac OS X".  This will not delete your data, but I'd recommend a backup beforehand anyway, just in case).  You can also click "Disk Utility" in the Recovery HD, and attempt to repair your boot disk (Macintosh HD), and restart and test before reinstalling.
If the problem does not happen in a new user, try pulling the preference lists for the two programs.  You can find these by clicking Finder, going to the Go menu, hold option and click Library.  Click Preferences, then scroll down to "com.apple.mail.plist" and "com.apple.ical.plist".  There should be a few of each, pull these to the trash.  Restart and test.  If the problem still happens:
Safe boot the computer by starting up holding Shift.  Test.  If the problem still happens, there is some interference from a third-party program, and you might need to disable or uninstall it.  You can disable third-party items on startup by going to Apple menu>System Preferences>Users and Groups, then clicking "login items", and removing (not un-checking) the third-party programs from the list.  I'd remove anything that isn't absolutely necessary to start up when the computer launches.  Note: This does not delete or uninstall a program, but only prevents it from opening when the computer first boots up.
    Restart and test.
If the problem still happens, reply and list the steps you have done.
    Good luck!

  • App tab doesn't refresh after restart of FF

I've added a new app tab.
I close browser and reopen after some time.
After browser open tab is not refreshed (displaying old content).
Is it a bug or intentional behaviour?

That is intentional. If you want fresh pages then use [[Clear Recent History]] to clear the cache if you close Firefox.

  • MDT failing to continue after restart

    Hi Everyone
I am am currently working on using MDT (Microsoft Deployment Toolkit) to make my tasks at work quicker.
I work at an IT company providing technical support for small to medium sized companys. Clients buy machines from us and we configure them for them before passing them to the site. This included applying all Microsoft updates, installing office,
setting up vpn and installing other software. Doing this manually takes a while especially if we have multiple machines to prepare.
I have set MDT to install updates and install application in silent mode. What I have found in some trials is the machine needs to restart and then will not resume.
My question is, is it possible to restart the procedure or stop it all together?
Any advice or recommendations will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

hmmm. rather than using the CD, try downloading a fresh copy of the iTunes 7.0.1.8 installer from Apple:
    iTunes 7.0.1.8 Installer
does that install go through any better for you?

  • Is data restored automatically after mavericks upgrade

Is data restored automatically after the mavericks upgrade

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
The Mavericks upgrade doesn't delete your files, so it doesn't have to restore your files after upgrading to OS X Mavericks.
However, you should make a backup of your files with Time Machine before upgrading to OS X Mavericks > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1427 If the installation files, you will lose your files unless you have got a backup. Also, check that your apps are compatible > http://www.roaringapps.com

  • Snow leopard upgrade nothing after restart

I am upgrading from OSX 10.5.8 (Leopard)  to OSC 10.6(Snow Leopard).  When I start the install, everything looks fine, there are no error messages and after about 15 minutes I get the message "Setup will continue after restart"  or something similar.  When the computer restarts, nothing happens.  I've tried this 4 times now and it's really starting to be a pain.
    What could be wrong?

You are certain your Mac meets Snow Leopard v10.6 requirements?
If that isn't the issue, boot from your install disc and run Disk Utility
The startup disk may need repairing before you can upgrade to Snow Leopard.

  • Spits out disc after restart...

While installing, it says 'Installation will continue after restart' or something or other, and then it restarts but then my mac ejects the disc by itself while on the grey screen, so obviously it can't continue.
I've tried starting it again but it just starts from the start again. And I've checked if it had finished but it still says I am on 10.5.7 on the 'about this mac' bit. Any Help would be greatly appreciated.
BTW, i've tested it with other discs and it spits those out too when i do a normal restart.

    It is!?
Tryresatring it with another CD in it, video game, music whatever..... Does it spit it out?
If so you may have a problem with your drive....
If it doesn't you may want to back up your current OS then do a clean install of leopard/SL

  • Photos Missing from iPhoto with Maverick Upgrade

I have recently upgraded to the Maverick OS and noticed that all my photos are now missing from iPhoto however I can see them under Preview when I use the Finder application. Also, when I open iPhoto it prompts me to enter personalized settings as if I am using it for the first time (ie: Face recognition, etc.) How can I get my photos back into iPhoto? I am worried I may lose them.

Have you upgraded iPhoto after your Mavericks upgrade?
Be aware after updating iPhoto save your iPhoto Library before you open it in the new version of iPhoto Library. If you don't and you have other Macs running eariler versions of iPhoto, they won't be able to open the Library.

  • Can't restart computer after Mavericks upgrade...

    Hello.
Just upgraded one of my machines to Mavericks (Mac mini, mid-2011). Installed without issue, and everything is running without issue, but, whenever I try and restart the computer, it logs out as usual, but then hangs on the grey screen, right before it'd normally reboot. The mouse is still active, but I can't do anything else. I've let it sit for over 30 minutes and eventually have to do a hard restart.
I've been wresting with this all morning—tried permissions and disk repairs, creating a new admin user and tried restarting under them, re-installing Mavericks (even the installer wouldn't restart—got hung on the restart, hard restart kicked into the isntaller though), tried removing all my peripherals...even tried removing deeply-integrated apps like Parallels and Little Snitch (which I didn't think would do anything since restarting under a newly created admin user failed), and no go.
Short of doing a clean-install, which I'd really rather not do, not sure what else to try.
    Anyone else have this issue?
    Any suggestions on a fix?
    Thanks!
    Kristin.

    Kristin,
I'm having similar problem after upgrade on my imac. Hangs with white screen after logging out. Have to press/hold pwr button to shut off, then press to turn on.
I have a LaCie porsche ext hard drive attached by usb. Should I unplug this and try reinstalling mavericks? I didn't remove ext hd during the upgrade, was I supposed too?
    Thanks,
    chris

    Awen

    Hi Awen,
According to your description, my understanding is that you got an error when you installed prerequisities for SharePoint 2013.
Please run the following command, compare the result:
    C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v4.0.30319\aspnet_regii -enable –i
