Mavericks upgrade has killed my FCProX abilities!

I upgraded to Mavericks, and now I am unable to share a video project to my desktop - this is something I have done without problem for quite some time, and now I have no abaility to do it at all?  Poppycock!  Why is it happening, and how do I fix it?

Thanks for the help guys - I figured it out and saved what I could.  The events I had created were lost in the upgrade, and it took a long time to regain the ability to export, but I was able to find the raw files and start over.

  • HT4623 iOS upgrade has killed my iPad, it won't start anymore.

I just accepted the iOS 7.0.2 upgrade and my iPad has died. All I get is an iTunes logo mid screen with plug/lead graphic and an arrow pointing to the logo.
I've tried all the buttons and even tried a reset, holding both down for 10 seconds, but it's as dead as a Dodo. I'm really wishing I hadn't agreed to this upgrade, can anyone help please?

I know the symbol means it's required for the upgrade to complete it needs to be hooked into iTunes to have it send off information.  The computer must be connected to the internet and upon seeing that symbol the iPad has to be connected to the computer.  If that doesn't work what I was honestly do is set the iPad down and let it kill its own battery and then the next day plug it in to the computer and listen to it for the sound of a connected device and let it power itself on.  If those don't work then you will have to take it to an Apple Store to have it unlocked.
@Custom17 I would have been able to answer that for you, or at least give you the same answer they're going to give you.  The reason it "jumps" all over the place has to do with the spatial effects built into the iOS.  When the lockscreen is on and you tilt the phone you should see the lockscreen moving (I found the factory "Starry Sky" lock screen is the best example of this.  The operating system works with layers building on it so it can manage the different applications going, think wedding cake, so something happening in the background or a wallpaper that doesn't agree with the OS is going to cause little jerks like that.  The black square can also be attributed to this, and both issues should be fixed quickly we all hope.

  • Mavericks upgrade has trashed my MacBook

Upgraded to Mavericks a couple of weeks ago and everything going relatively ok. All maintenance and updates done.
Yesterday evening I got the hanging grey screen on login. Arghhh!
Tried to resolve issue in various ways but nothing worked, i.e. live file system repair failed, unable to boot in safe mode, unable to reinstall, etc.
Reset PRAM and lost the login screen, to be replaced by the flashing question mark folder. Double Arghhh!
Created a bootable USB today. Recovery HD partition still couldn't repair disk nor could it unencrypt it ("error -69749: Unable to unlock the Core Storage volume"). Also wouldn't allow me to reinstall Mavericks as valid password not unlocking (FileVault protected) Macintosh HD.
Similarly, I couldn't unencrypt using Terminal:
                             diskutil corestorage unlockVolume UUID -stdinpassphrase
                             diskutil corestorage revert UUID -stdinpassphrase
Naturally, I hadn't got round to making a backup of my most recent photos, etc.,
I can't believe my perfectly working MacBook is dead. Obviously I'll try a wipe and clean install but how can I retrieve my data asap, ideally tonight as I have an online tax return to do....
Currently have a working Mac but no firewire cable. An external drive, a bootable USB, and a Windows 7 notebook.
    Ideas? Anyone?

  • Mavericks upgrade has corrupted my Mail program

After upgrading to Mavericks I can no longer open my Mail program, click the icon in the dock and all I get is the Mail menu bar at the top of the screen, no email program on screen, I can still see my desktop, any ideas as to what will fix this, tried Safe Mode boot, didn't help, tried clearing my Caches, didn't help.
    Thanks in Advance

Sorted it now, it was a mail account that seemed to be corrupting the whole program, disabled every account and then turned them on 1 at a time, when I found the corrupt account, I just disabled it again and it's now working fine.
Mail menu, then Preferences, then uncheck the Enable this account option on all the accounts, close mail, reopen, then enable 1 account at a time, close then reopen, should work until you find the corrupt account, once it stops working uncheck the last enabled account and continue, mines was only 1 account, so it was easy to solve.

What problems are you having and what have you done thus far to investigate/fix?

  • Tiger - SL upgrade has killed my wifi

New printer forced me to upgrade from 10.4.10 to 10.6. I did a straight fwd install and all my apps, docs, pics, etc., appear to have survived OK (yes, l backed up) but my mac cannot/will not connect to the net via wifi. Ethernet works fine.
Turning on Airport connects to the router showing a full strength signal but opening my browser says l am not connected to the net. I have checked and re-entered the network settings but still no joy.
    Please advise?

have a look at the DNS settings. System Preferences/Network/Airport. Press the 'Advanced' button. Select DNS. If the DNS area is blank, try putting in 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 (Google's DNS server addresses) or 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220 (OpenDNS's DNS server addresses) or both and see if that makes any difference.

  • Upgrade has killed my mbp, slow does not describe it

The machine is in the throes of infinite slowness.  Some functions like dock magnification are fine, but the finder is utterly unresponsive to opening windows, as in waiting 20 minutes to open a window and getting NOTHING.
What the heck can be done?

I think the only way you are going to fix that, is by doing a reinstall. It sounds like some corruption at the OS level. Try running your disk utility first though and see if there is a problem there.

  • Windows 10 upgrade has killed my computer

I downloaded and attempted to install Windows 10. The end result is that I now have a computer that after displaying a blue Windows icon on the startup progresses into a completely balck screen where I'm unable to do anything. I am able to enter the startup menu and access BIOS if I press Esc before the computer loads into its black abyss. From there I have been able to perform tests and I have the following error messages: File: \Boot\BCDStatus: 0xc000014cInfo: An error occurred while attempting to read the boot configuartion data In addition, the Start-Up test revealed that though the Memory and SMART check tests passed, the Short DST pass failed and came up with the following info:Failure ID: GU6KX1-60PTNL-MFPV5F-60R103Product ID: QG844EA#ABU My warranty expired in January 2013. I do have 2 system recovery discs but every attempt I make to restart my computer with these ends in failure with the promising message that Windows is loading, only to be left in a grey background where the CD-ROM stops loading and nothing happens even after having left the computer alone for an hour. Is my computer dead? Any help would be appreciated. Regards Rob

  • After I upgraded to Mavericks, Quicktime has had to convert MPEG-4 videos to .mov

After I upgraded to Mavericks, Quicktime has had to convert MPEG-4 videos to .mov.... Why? Is there a way to stop that or to change the settings?
Your question requires more information. What does MPEG-4 mean to you? What file container and which compression formats are you referring to here? Is the MPEG-4 content "standard" or proprietary. Basically, depending on the file container and the specific content, QT X v10.3 may initiate a conversion ever where the individual data tracks are fully QT compatible. Proprietary compression formats will definitely do this. In some cases, the audio or video in one source container may simply be passed through to the MOV file while in another source container, QT X v10.3 forces a conversion of that same data track. In short, there are too many variables at this point to properly answer your question or attempt to duplicate your workflow.

  • Mail has to be forced closed to power off after maverick upgrade

After taking the maverick upgrade to power off the computer I have to force close mail. Not a huge deal but wondering if there is a setting I don't have right.  I'm pretty new to this mac world...less than a year...so I'm still learning.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Odgenite,
Please first complete your profile, if you don't know how please click Profile Update for instructions.
The first thing to do is restart in Recovery Mode, open Disk Utility and run Repair Permissions 2x. If you don't know how to start in Recovery Mode then hold down the Option key when you hear the startup tone and you will see what partitions to start from. Choose Recovery, then open Disk Utility. After running Repair Permissions 2x restart normally and re test. If this does not work then open in Recovery Mode again this time reinstall OS X, this will leave your data alone however it is ALWAYS wise to backup your data prior to doing any update or upgrade.

    Hi.
I have started OS X Mavericks update(Version 10.9.1), but than have read that many users have many issues after installing it.
Now I want to cancel the upgrade, but can only suspend and resume the upgrade.
Is there any posibility to cancel the upgrade or kill the upgrade process?
    Thanks and regards.

If you are downloading the Mavericks update, then you have installed the Mavericks Upgrade (10.9.0)? If so, then your ability to sync contacts and calanders  via usb has already gone.

  • Massive Battery Drain After Mavericks Upgrade on 11" 2013 MacBook Air?

I got my Air about month before Mavericks came out and the battery life was amazing on it. I was easily getting 14-10 hours of life using Chrome and Air Mail App, along with Power Point and MS Word. After the upgrade to Mavericks, it was slow but I started to notice that my battery life during classes was draining so much faster than before and I had not added anything 3rd party software, just the upgrade. I am now down to about 3.5 - 4.5 hours of battery life doing about the same things as before the upgrade. I did a couple of apps and I added (Sims 3 game). However, I have yet to touch it because of the diminished battery life.
I have included a copy of my Etrecheck, can somone take a look and let me know if you think I need to clean something off?
I did do the SMC reset and that seemed to to give a little juice (like putting new tire on your car but still not where it was before the Mavericks upgrade) as I am up to about 6 hours of battery life after the SMC reset.
Please let me know what other information you might need from me that would help and thank you so much!!

    Hi Lex,
Not sure why but I had a hard time finding all of the related files to get rid of Origin. But I think I finally got them. I just uninstalled Flash and Chrome. I don't like Safari but all well. I suppose I can deal with it it until Apple fixes this battery issue and then maybe I can go back to Chrome. Safari isn't too happy with certain websites, under the Preferences/Security there is an error message that reads "Google Safe Browsing Service Is Not Available. Has not been updated in 8 days."
Haven't noticed a change in battery since doing all of this so let me know if it will take a couple of days to reset. Or if you see anything else that I can do to help. Thank!
