Mavericks vs. AE CS6

I have read the varied blog posts and discussions—anything that references Mavericks-induced dysfunction and running AE. Before I realized or installed the 11.0.3 update, I was getting errors when trying to save a project. I wish I had written down what they were. Basically, it wasn't able to write to my <username>/Library/Preferences/Adobe/After Effects/.... Prefs.
So, I trashed my preferences, tried saving, etc... Somehow, my 'write' privileges had been removed from my preferences file. I tried to restore them, but with no change to AE's performance.
A long investigation later and I used the updater to install the 11.0.3 update. But, now I can't even open After Effects. When I try and open the app itself, I get these two messages:
Not really sure what to do about that. I have already uninstalled the application and reinstalled once today.
I wish that I could just uninstall Mavericks. It broke everything. I am going to uninstall, reinstall, update, and try again.

I have tried changing the preferences for the 11.0 folder (I'm on CS6) but to no avail. I've trashed the folder. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the application. Always the same result. Arrgh. But I'll try again.

uhhhh...it seems that if I extend 'write' priveleges to "everyone", so that it's R/W across the board for all users... IT WORKS!
Three inconclusive hours (currently waiting for a call back from them) with Adobe Support and no headway on this problem. I don't know why changin the R/W didn't work previously. But it did this time. And, I'll take it! Hopefully, it continues to work!

Cannot open eps files on maverick oSX with CS6

I cannot open eps files on maverick oSX with CS6. AI and FW just hang and need to force quit to continue.
I have tried using FW but no success. I can open old files but no new ones (existing on my computer) since upgrading to Maverick on a Macbook air.
The files will open in Photoshop (as raster) and are able to be placed in ID.
No Plugins in AI or FW.
Latest Java update.

If you can't open them, but place them, then the files might have been created with a newer version (like CC) or they might just be (partly) corrupt.
You can try and create a new Illustrator file and place the EPS in it (embedded).

When you upgrade to 10.9 it installs the Java 7 JRE but there is no JRE6, so you HAVE TO download it from Apple before ANY CS5 or CS6 app will open. Other than that I haven't seen ANY issues with CS5.5 or CS6 in Audition, Dreamweaver, Fireworks, Flash, InDesign, Premiere, Photoshop, PSE9 or Lightroom 5.

That's what happened: I installed Mavericks, and Dreamweaver CS6 stopped responding. What a nightmare! Now trying to figure out how to get and reinstall Dreamweaver CS6.

Illustrator CS6 EXTREMELY slow since Mavericks update

After upgrading to Mavericks, my whole CS6 suite is extremely slow. It's taking several minutes just to open a file, and equally as long to save. Has anyone else had similar issues? I've looked on the forums and see where other users have issues with it crashing, but I do not have that problem.

I too am having the same problem with all my CC including Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, and Acrobat Pro after installing Mavericks. I cannot find Adobe Drive anywhere on my system. I've done a manual search in all the usual places and a spotlight search with no luck. I'm desperate to solve this extremely slow opening file problem. It's causing me major problems keeping up with my work. Barely have time to post here.

Now it occurs again in Mavericks. Indesign CS6 does not print. The same document in PDF prints without problems with Acrobat.

The HP Deskjet 845c is actually no longer supported on Mac OS X since version 10.6:

You may try installing the 3rd party HPIJS drivers which seems to support the 845c.
Be sure to install any of the 3 required download prior adding the printer:

Problem with Photoshop CS6 Freezing up when saving OSX Mavericks 10.9

I have a iMac we purchased last year (27inch, 32GB Ram, 512GB Flash Storage, OSX 10.9 Mavericks) with Adobe CS6 installed on it. About 2 months ago our Graphic Designer started having problems where when she went to save a Photoshop file the Mac would freeze up and just show the spinning pinwheel, after this happens we are unable to to even shut the system down and have to resort to holding the power button until it shuts off. Now this doesn't happen every time and we went almost a month with a problem but it has started back up and is happening multiple times a day. We have tried re installing CS6, creating a new profile for the user, deleting the library folder, saving to the desktop instead of a network location but nothing has seemed to do the trick. I'm a Windows Sysadmin so I'm out of my depths here and my poor Graphics Designer is getting really upset. Has anyone out there every had something like this happen??

Works fine now. The problem was with Vectorscribe Plugin. Once plugin is removed there is no problem with Illustrator CS6 on Mavericks.
Illustrator CS6 not working for me. Keeps crashing on startup, so far it won't get past the splash screen.
The rest of CS6 seems ok.

Illustrator CS6 crashes in Maverick, still... what to try next?

After installing Mavericks my Illustrator CS6 started crashing. App starts just fine, and I can work sometimes short periods, sometimes longer periods before the whole system crashes and restarts. I have updated Java, updated wacom drivers, have no 3rd party plug-ins installed, checked that the speech recognition is not on... to no effect. Any ideas what I could try to get rid of this highly irritating feature that stops me working efficiently?

Did you make a full reinstallation after installing Mavericks?
That would be needed.
In cases like this, it is best to do it the full three step way:
Uninstall, run the Cleaner Tool, and reinstall.

Mavericks, CS6 crashes when printing

Hi,
We have just updated to Mavericks and run CS6. When we try to print from a standard page size everything is fine, but when we try and print an irregular size, say 10" x 13", it either crashes or prints a small portion of the page. This was never a problem with OS 10.8. What is the fix?

Motion sketch doesn't seem to work under AE CS6 v 11.0.3.6 & MacOs 10.9 (Maverick)

After the Mavericks Update for CS6 (AE 11.0.3.6) on MacOs, i have trouble using the motion sketch tool. After clicking "start record", the mouse cursor is supposed to turn into a crosshair allowing you to record motion for a selected object on the canvas. Instead, after the update, the crosshair cursor dissapears on leaving the button. Info window still tells you to click in order to start recording, but clicking and dragging on the canvas results in the regular behaviour i.e. moving an already selected object (or drawing a selection frame if no objected is selected)…
Has anybody else fencountered the same problem yet and found a workaround? Is it a bug? Will Adobe fix it?

This has nothing to do with a "big push to subscription". We have already issued multiple CS6 updates since we started the CC subscription. We just need to balance work on this bug fix with other work. Bug reports help us to determine how many people are affected by an issue and can help us to set priorities.
My best guess is that we'll have a CS6 bug-fix update with this fix available (plus others) in the early spring. Until then, you have several options for workarounds.

Adobe Bridge CS6 ツールメニューから「Photoshop」が消えてしまいました

Adobe Bridge CS6を使用していました。
OS X Mavericksにしてからしばらく経つのですが、
最近になって「イメージプロセッサー」を使用したいと思い「ツール」メニューを見た所、
「Photoshop」の項目そのものがなくなっていました。
新OSとCS6との相性が良くないと聞いたことがあったので、
すぐにCCを入れてみましたが、こちらも項目が消えていました。
こういったケースは調べても出ておらず、途方に暮れています。
イメージプロセッサー機能自体はPhotoshopのスクリプトでできますが、
ずっと使用していたのに消えてしまったのがなぜなのか理解できません。
どなたかこういった現象に心当たりがあればと思い、投稿いたしました。

入れ違いで昨日サポートに電話してみた所、
環境設定の一部がクラッシュしている可能性が高いとのことでした。
CS6にて環境設定をリセットした所、無事に復活しました。
しかし、CCは同じ処理をしても復活せず。。。
ご指摘頂いたスタートアップスクリプトを確認してみた所、
有効になっていましたが、
項目がごっそりなくなっていました。
再び電話しましたが混雑で繋がらず昨日は断念したのですが、
明日また電話してみようと思います。
今度は別の原因なのかもしれません。

Bridge think photoshop is busy with a task - CS6/Window 7

Bridge keeps telling me that photoshop is busy with a task and asks if a wish to queue the request. Photoshop is not busy. I can go to photoshop and open and close items, run batch process, ect. I even tried closing and opening Photoshop. Bridge still thinks photoshop is busy.
Any suggestions.

Can you specify the action you have selected that is causing the busy message?

CS6 spinning "busy" cursor while saving in background.

On Mountain Lion and Mavericks GM, Photoshop CS6 displays (flickers) the spinning "busy" cursor while either auto-saving or saving in the background. The cursor is the Adobe black dot variety, not the OSX beach ball. It flickers rapidly between the spinning balls and the currently used Photoshop cursor, for the duration of a save or auto-save. For a multi gigabyte file, this can mean a several minutes of flickering.
I can work while saving, but obviously with a flickering cursor, it's difficult. Interestingly, the flickering only starts after the second save after restarting Photoshop; i.e. I start Photoshop, open a file, save, and it's fine. Then I continue working and save again, or auto-save, and the spinning/flickering starts while saving. It won't go away unles I restart Photoshop again, and comes back on the second save of the next session.
Machine is a Mac Pro 2 x 2.93 6-Core with 32GB RAM and running an Nvidia Quadro 4000. Scratch disk is a dedicated internal 120gb SSD.
Performance settings for CS6 were tweaked multiple times to no avail. Fonts caches removed. Permissions repaired. PRAM reset. Basically all the standard troubleshooting methods were attempted.
On Snow Leopard, I have zero issues with this. On upgrading to Mountain Lion last year, the cursor began flickering, so I reverted to Snow Leopard. This year, I installed Mavericks GM in the hopes it would be remedied, but the flickering returned. I have reverted again to Snow Leopard and everything is back to normal.
The only thing I can try at this point is a clean install of ML or Mavericks, instead of the upgrade I've been doing. This would be a considerable hassle, so I am asking here first if there's anything I can do before trying that.

I just discovered your message after many research on the internet. I'm actually experiencing the same issue, this "busy"cursor while autosaving.
Like you, I used to have no problem at all on Snow Leopard.
My machine is a Macpro 2,8Ghz Quad core with 16GB Ram.

InDesign exports hidden PDFs to NetApp Share on OSX Mavericks

Hi,
we're experiencing some problems on our upgraded Macs with OSX Mavericks.
In CS6 and CC the pdf-export saves files with hidden-flag to out NetApp Share (CIFS).
On Mountain-Lion CC and CS6 export the files with no problem.
This is reproducable on 2 Macs with Mavericks.
Exporting locally and moving the file to the share by hand is no problem, but not really an option
Saving a file to the share with save-as (no pdf-export) saves the file as not-hidden. The same for photoshop etc.
Is this a known issue on Mavericks?

We just solved the problem by disabling the new smb-stack completely in Mavericks:
echo "[default]" >> ~/Library/Preferences/nsmb.conf; echo "smb_neg=smb1_only" >> ~/Library/Preferences/nsmb.conf
to re-enable just run this:
rm ~/Library/Preferences/nsmb.conf

Lightroom 5.2 and OS X Mavericks Application switching delay

Almost every time I switch in and out of Lightroom 5.2 running on OS X mavericks cursor and keyboard control freezes up for around 10-30 seconds. Other applications including LR still continue to work during this freeze up but the mouse cursor will not move and I just have to sit and wait for a little while and everything will resume normally after this delay. Has anyone else seen this issue? It's becoming quite annoying since it is happening over and over again.

I updated from Mountain Lion to Mavericks 2 days and I have no problems. There definitely is a increase in speed with Mavericks. Running CS6 and LightRoom 5.2.
