Max 10.6.8 & Adobe Reader 10.1.3

When I open a pdf in Adobe reader the previously entered text does not land on the line and looks crossed out as it is on top of the line. When I go to enter new text, the same things happens.

Thank you! When I went to do the upgrade I noted that my computer had
defaulted to open in preview and the file was fine in the older version
once I defaulted to Adobe to open. (Can't believe I missed that) However, I
did the upgrade anyways and it solved my inability to place an electronic
signature. You solved a problem before it impacted me.
Thanks
Christy

  • Adobe reader 11.0.10 uses max. CPU after closing on Windows 8

    Hello,
please advice how to solve the issue of max. CPU use of Adobe reader after closing it on a Windows 8 64bit system.
    Thank you.

Try disabling Protected Mode in Adobe Reader [Edit | Preferences | Security (Enhanced)].

  • Adobe Reader 10.1.3 uses max CPU when closed

We're having the problem where Adobe Reader uses all of a CPU core when a user is closing the program but the .exe file is still running in the background.
We're running 10.1.3 and have been using that since it was released but the problem just recently started. It's running on top of Windows 2008 SP2 with Citrix XenApp 5.0 installed and using DFS.
The trick with denying the user access to the "cRecentFiles" in the registry don't seem to solve the problem.
Anyone who knows a way to solve this?

If you have Adobe processes (AcroRd32.exe) showing in the task manager after you close the Acrobat Reader that use up a significant amount of processor speed.  This is what you can do to fix it.
Basically the file that is used by the welcome screen (ReaderMessages) has become corrupted (that file is located here on Windows 7 C:\Users\%UserProfile%\AppData\LocalLow\Adobe\Acrobat\10.0.)   Deleting that file did not help on a long term basis, but by disabling the welcome screen it bypasses that file and will close normally.  Unfortunately Adobe does not have a built in way to disable the welcome screen but you can disable it by making a small addition into the registry.
    1. Open the regeidt and navigate to
    a. HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\10.0\FeatureLockDown
    2. Add the a key with the name
    a. cWelcomeScreen
    3. Add a DWORD value to that key
    a. bShowWelcomeScreen = 0
It should look like this when your finished
The welcome screen should not show when you open Acrobat Reader, and when you close the window the process should close with it.  If this fix does not work for you,  there might be something else causing your problem.

  • Questions regarding Adobe Reader Extensions for Adobe Livecycle.

    Hi,
I'm relatively new to Adobe products, having just started to use Adobe Livecycle over the last couple of weeks. I've produced a set of interactive forms for field engineers to use. When completed, they will submit the xml data via email. However, there will be numerous occasions where they will need to stop in the middle of data collection and come back at a later point to finish, hence the need to locally save the information before submission.
I understand this is where Adobe reader extensions would come in, unlocking this functionality.
At the moment, i'm a bit of a loss on several points regarding how reader extensions work and i was wondering if anybody could fill in the gaps:
    1. Are they seperate modules that bolt in into the main Livecycle application?
    2. As these forms will be used off line, i would like to set the permissions to the pdf locally. From what i read, Reader Extensions is a server product. Is this correct, or can i use Reader Extensions to set these permissions before publishing the adobe form?
    3. Where can i get hold of Reader Extensions and how much do they cost? I have been reading information on similar topics on this forum (dating 3-4 years ago) that say reader extensions are comparitavely expensive to a Adobe Pro/Livecycle licence. ($50,000 upwards) Is this correct? If so, is there a cheaper alternative to achieve the same outcome?
I hope someone can shed some light on these points!
    Thanks in advance.
    Rob

Reader Extensions can be bought as a module in LiveCycle. There is a subset of RE functionality that exists in Acrobat. The ability to save locally is part of Acrobat. In both cases you woudl RE the form before distributing it, hence when the user gets your form they are ready to go. You can download a trial version of the server product. As far as pricing goes you woudl be better to talk to an Adobe salesrep as there are discounts for certain situations as well as different pricing options. If you decide tp gp the Acrobat route you ar limited, by licence, to distribute your form to a max of 500 users.
    Hope that helps

  • Cannot open pdfxml in Adobe Reader 9.2

My Adobe Reader installed the updates to version 9.2.0.124. When I try to open any of the sample Mars pdfxml files now, I get the error:
"This document could not be opened because the plug-in required to view PDFXML files is not available".
I checked the plugins screen under the Reader->Help menu and the Mars pdfxml plug-in is no longer there. I tried re-installing it running the pdfxml_p2_acrobat9plugin_091508.msi but that didn't work either. Is this plugin not supported for 9.2 or does the installer need to be updated as well?

I'm Having  the same No OK/Cancel buttons problem with my DELL D840 laptop, and I've discovered the Problem-
The OK/Cancel is off the bottom of the screen-  If I click on taskbar preferences & auto-hide, then grab the top blue bar & slide it up, I can barely see the Tops of OK/Cancel.mThe problem is that when I release the blue bar & try to click OK, the taskbar appears & blocks it.
My resolution is maxed at 1280 x 800, and I can't figure out how to see the OK/cancel?
    Any suggestions would be appreciated!?
BTW- Win 7 (32), and Adobe Reader 9.4.1 (I'd like to update to 9.4.2, but Adobe X keeps trying to jump in...).

  • Adobe Reader 11.0.2 Very very slow

    Hi all,
Since I have updated to Adobre reader 11 (11.0.2 or 11.0.3), I have some issues on some computers.
i have 40 computers with the same configuration (Win 7 x64)
For 20 of them, It is very slow to open a document (about 6-7 secondes to open Adobe reader)
the the other 20, no issue (1 second max, to open Adobe)
I have noticed that disabling "protected mode" permits to avoid the issue, but I dont want to disable this important security feature.
Why some of the machines works well and the others do not work well ?
Does that performance issue is a known issue by Adoebe ?
Do you have any link to any Adobe release note dealing with that ?
Do you have a way to fix that issue  without redusing security ?
Thank you every body for your help

    Hi Pat,
reader_sl.exe is not in the startup list.
Disabling protected mode is a very high security break that i dont want.
Any other idea ? Thank you

  • Adobe Form Calling WebService Doesnu00B4t work with Adobe Reader 7

    Hi experts,
We have created and adobe form that simulates a PM Notification in which the user, without logging into SAP, through an RFC and WebServices can create the notification into SAP.
This process only works with Adobe Reader 9 and not with Adobe Reader 7.
Can anyone tell me what main difference/component/functionality does Adobe Reader 9 have that Adobe Reader 7 doesn´t?
When I call the Webservice through the form in Adobe 7, a pop-up message appears that says:
"Error attempting to read from file.
    http://desaecc6.codelco.cl:8001/sap/bc/rfc/sap/zi_aviso_adobe_pm12/222/zi_aviso_adobe_pm12/zi_aviso_adobe_pm12"
Any ideas why this error ocurrs only in Adobe Reader 7?
    Thanks and best regards,
    Fernando Montenegro

    Hello,
I cannot tell what are the exact differencies between the version. But I can tell you should always use (at least try to use the newest Reader). I guess you´re not the only developer on Forms, so there are possibly more people depending on the version of the client browser/ Reader. There is a solution for this problem, which does not ask anything from you, only the user.
You can easily test the Reader version through JS coding and act based on the result. I use this like this "if your Reader is lower than 8.1" then "message popup = We are sorry, your Reader is too old, this form won´t work for you. Please upgrade first.". It takes like 5 minutes (10 for lame users at max) to update his Reader.
Maybe you should this about such a test, if the user passes the test, his application won´t have any problem, if not there is no guarantee. And YOU have no problem, nobody tells you "hey sir, your form is not working, I´m not gonna pay you".

  • I can't use Adobe Reader

Hi, Not sure if this is the right place to post.
Just bought a new Mac a few days ago and its amazing! The old one died after 5 years, anyway, am impressed.
BUT I can't view a PDF in Adobe Reader!! I have Max OS X 10.6.2.
Any help? I did a search on google but a little confused as other people seemed to have similar problems, but slightly different and found solutions.
    Any help MUCH appreciated!

Thanks Actionmarker. i do actually have Adobe Reader 8 installed on my computer. I could use it with my old Mac, but when I bought this new one, and i double click Adobe Reader (or if I click on a PDF file to open), this message comes up:
You Can't open the application Adobe Reader because it is not supported on this type of Mac.
If I go to the Adobe website to download it, I notice that it can't be downloaded for OS 10.6.2. It only goes up to 10.6.0.
How come they haven't made an Adobe Reader update that's compatible with the new Macs? Is that the reason I can't use Adobe Reader?

  • Do I need Adobe Reader if I have CS4?

I have Adobe Creative Suite 4 Design Premium, using Windows 7 Home Premium on Dell Inspiron 1545. I have to uninstall as many programs as I can to save disk space. (I've maxed out the memory upgrades my computer can take.) Adobe Reader XI (which I think is the free reader) takes 127 MB. Can I uninstall Adobe Reader XI? In other words, is Adobe Reader XI performing a function that CS4 could perform? Obviously, I'm not a power user of CS, but use it occasionally in my work as an editor (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, in that order). Of course, I definitely need a pdf reader. Yes, I know I need a new computer, but need to make this one work a little while longer.

Not only do you not need it you should have really have Reader and
    Acrobat installed.

  • Adobe Reader - Read out loud

When I try to activate the Read Out Loud function in the Adobe Reader the software closes.  Does anyone know how to get this fixed.  I am currently using 9.3.2 and it still does not work.  My operating system is Windows Vista.

I got the MSVCP50.dll file from a friend.  I'm not sure this was necessary, though.
However I picked up this post from another discussion:
“I thought to set my preference to a very slow speed (which I learned can't be less than 150 words a minute) and I also changed the voice to a Microsoft voice (SanSoft voices were the other choices). When I tried again, it worked. I don't know if it was the speed or the voice or both, but I never would have considered those if I hadn't been aware of the bar. It must have shown before but it was so quick and I wasn't looking for it that I must have missed it.”
I also hadn’t noticed the bar at the bottom, which is only there for a split second, and I’m not sure what significance that had.  But by changing my preferences (Edit/Preferences/ Reading) from the default, it seemed to kick the function into action.  The volume is still very low, though, even with all the volume slide controls on max.
    But progress anyway!

  • What is the maximum display resolution for Adobe Reader X?

    Hello,
I have a multi-projector classroom that projects a 14,000 x 1200 pixel (Windows 7) desktop in a wrap-around manner.   When I load a pdf document with Adobe Reader X, the content will not fill the screen, even when zoomed in.  It appears the max. resolution is around 9-10k width.  Full screen mode does use the entire area but the leftmost ~4000 pixel width is gray.
    Thanks,
    Scott

I'm sorry -- I have not communicated my question well.   When I use full
page mode (no window borders, Ctrl-L) and zoom to many thousands %, then
entire screen (14000 pixels by 1200 pixels) is not used -- only about 9000
pixels x 1200 pixels.   The entire screen should have document content
because I'm extremely zoomed in.  There is no meaning to pixels/inch in
this context (and I tried your suggestion -- it made no difference).   This
seems to be a hard limitation of Adobe Reader X screen display...?
    Thanks,
    Scott

  • I CANNOT DOWNLOAD ADOBE READER FOR MY MAC (ID AND PASSWORD DOES NOT WORK)

I CANNOT DOWNLOAD ADOBE READER FOR MY MAX (ID AND PASSWORD DOES NOT WORK

This seems to cause a certain amount of confusion. Your Adobe ID is not used to download or install Adobe Reader.
But when you install any software you are likely to need your own computer's administrator password. This password was chosen by you (or someone) the first time the computer was switched on, and is used to protect the system against bad things.
