Max cable lengths for voice links

Hello everybody,
I would like to get an info on max. cable lenghts for FXS, ISDN BRI (only p-t-p config) and ISDN PRI connections between PABX and Cisco VoIP gateway, especially that regardig ISDN. I have info from some standard. spec, but want to know the Cisco environment. I didn't find anything useful on CCO..
Thank you very much for your valuable and prompt help.
Peter

Hi,
thanks for that. I've seen a document on the VWIC-MFT-E1 that states the max cable length is approx 600m.
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/routers/ps274/products_tech_note09186a00800b6e0f.shtml
Where did you get the 200m from? do you have a reference doc you could point me at?

  • Maximum cable lengths for USB / FW / DVI & sVGA?

I've hunted around on the net and can't find any kind of definitive answer regarding maximum cable lengths for USB, Firewire 400/800 and DVI / sVGA monitors. Can anyone shed some light?
I'm about to shift my studio into a new room, and have the oppourtunity to stick my G5 and external drives into a corridor cupboard adjacent to where my studio is - in other words, noise free bliss! But....
...if I map out how far my computer monitors, keyboard and audio interface will be from the cupboard, and take into account the twists and turns involved in neat routing, I'm looking at a distance of about 10 meters. I need to know if any of these devices will be OK with such a long run of cable, and if not, if it's possible to achieve a good result using hubs or repeaters?
So, can anyone help me out with info on:
    an Apogee Ensemble (Firewire 400)
    an Apple keyboard (USB 2.0)
    an LCD flatscreen (DVI)
    and another LCD flatscreen (sVGA)
    Many thanks!

I was just researching the very same thing, though it does not  sound like my studio setup will be as sweet as yours. Here are a few things I ran across:
    FIREWIRE-
"The maximum cable length specified by the IEEE1394 standard is 4.5 meters. However, more recent tests have shown that certain high quality firewire cables can achieve longer lengths without significantly affecting transmission quality. Several manufacturers sell firewire cables longer than 5 meters (some up to 50 meters)."
I found an example of a company who claims to sell a firewire cable of that length:

There is forum discussion on the topic I was reading yesterday:
    http://www.everythingusb.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=804
But don't go past the 11th post or so, they go off on another subject... the use of hubs & the words "active extension" in that post caught my eye. A quick google search came up with this site:
    http://www.everythingusb.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=804
There were a bunch sites with devices claiming to do this.
Finally I have this chart, which seems to support what what the articles say, without of course any other extension technology/solutions:
    http://www.extron.com/company/article.aspx?id=dedigform10
I'm not making any claims at all about how true these sources are, I just have the same questions and decided to toss what I've been looking at into the discussion. Feel free anyone to jump in and tell me its all wrong - I'd love to hear whats right.

  • What is the max. cable length that the Differential TTL signals can run in both at high and low frequencies?

    Hello,
I want to now the max. cable length that the Differential TTL signals can run in both at high and low frequencies.

That is very dependant on the type of cable, its construction, and inherent impedance and capacitance. This may be of use:

  • Max Character Length for Text Variables

    Hi folks,
    Quick question:
Does OPA have a max character length for text variables?

Obviously common sense prevails here. The system is unlikely to perform very well if you start passing around MBs of data in text variables!

  • Max USB cable length for LT1421

Does anyone know how long the USB cable can be for connecting the LT1421 flat panel to the computer?
The screen is delivered with 1,8m but I must place the panel in a least 6 meter distance from the computer, is that possible?
I know that the max length for USB 2 is about 5 meters, but it varies between products how sensitive they are to cable length.

3 meters for USB1 and 5 meters for USB 2.  You can find lots of information on the subject with a quick search.  Try http://www.usb.org/about/faq/ans5 for starters.  It explains how to get up to 25 meters of USB cable when you use several USB hubs.

  • Minimum Fiber Patch Cable Length for MGBSX1

I want to "stack" a couple 300 series gigabit switches with fiber using a pair of MGBSX1 GBICs and a single LC to LC patch cable.
Is there a minimum supported patch cable length in this configuration?

    Howard,
Thank you for posting. You should have no issues using a short fiber patch between the switches. Just make sure the fiber doesn't bend too sharply and get damaged.

  • UTP Cable Length for AP connect to POE Switch

    Dear All,
What is the limitiation on the length of UTP Cable for connect AP to POE Switch.
    Thanks.
    C.K.

I believe it's consistent with the limits for structured cabling: 100 meters end-to-end, assuming the cabling system is compliant with EIA/TIA sandards.
    Good Luck

  • What is the max clob length for Forms 6i with most recent updates.

I am trying to determine what the largest clob is that can be handled by Forms 6i with the latest patches installed. I have searched the forum and the help files and have found a bunch of different answers, but nothing useful - nothing current.
I have a record that has a clob field with 28,213 characters (including spaces) or 9902 characters (without spaces). Saved as a text file, it is 29kb.
To read and work with the data in Forms, I have to set the DATA: Maximum Length to 110000, almost 3 times the length of the actual data. I can read and edit the field without problems.
    My questions are:
    1. what is the maximum size of data in a clob field that will work with Forms 6i and Oracle 10R2 database (Forms with the most recent update)?
    2. what is the Maximum Length - It certainly doesn't seem to be character. How do I set this - 3x Actual????
    Thanks for the help
    Glenn

In theory it should be 64k bytes. In practice its often a bit less than that.

  • Extending DVI cable length for 30" display

With my new home office setup the computer will sit 25ft from the 30" Cinema display, so what are my options connecting this beast?
    +
DVI Coupler (Female to Female) and DVI Male Digital/DVI Male Digital Dual Link (24AWG) Cable - 25FT
Would that work? Or maybe switch to an HDMI solution with DVI to HDMI adapters?
    Thanks!

A 10 ft. dual-link DVI extension should work, depending on the quality of the cable. Try to find a M-F cable, so you won't need a gender changer. You want to have the minimum number of connections.

  • Is there any max character length for index usage ?

This is a fairly well documented issue. (At least, I documented it a few years ago in "CBO Fundamentals").
Oracle only considers the first few bytes of a character string when calculating selectivity, so you can get all sorts of anomalous results.
You could start by reading a couple of notes I wrote some time ago - this might give you a few pointers for your particular case:

  • Was told on the phone that I was now a Voice Link customer. I never signed up for that!

I had a question about my service this morning, I had hung up my phone real quick to redial a number and heard a 3 way calling ringtone which was weird because I don't pay for that service, I called Verizon today to ask about that and was told that they couldn't talk to me about the account because it was a Voice Link account and I had to talk to the Voice Link Dept which wouldn't be open till Monday.  First off, I never agreed to any changes at all in my existing phone service which is flat-rate local extended service on the POTS with taxes and fees total bill right at 40 bucks a month.  No one has come out here to install anything else, nor would I let anyone come out here and install anything else because I don't want anything else but my Flat-Rate Local Extended POTS telephone service.  I thought Voice Link was on the cellular netowrk?  I've still got the copper running off the pole to the NID and into my house.  Really just wondering what's going on and why the folks on the phone wouldnt even talk to me about it.  I spoke to 3 people, none would give me a straight answer.  The first person told me that I was a Voice Link customer and that Voice Link was a program they created for folks who experience a lot of storms.  I've called in a couple of complaints in the past but it wasn't huge storm damage, just a couple of problems up on the pole that didn't get fixed right the first time.  The second person told me that I qualified for Voice Link Service and that I would have to talk to a Voice Link person if I wanted to talk about my account.  If I qualify for a service but don't yet have it why would I have to speak to a person from the department I don't have service with before I can talk to someone in the department I do have service with?  The third person told me if I wanted my flat rate telephone service I would have to have Voice Link which is why she said that I already have it  Otherwise I'd have to move to another pay-by-the-minute plan which she made sound as horrible as she possibly could.  I never agreed to any of this at all.  I don't want to give up my service.  If I wanted my home phone calls on the cellular network I'd just use my iPhone for everything and not even have the landline.  How can you change my service without even asking?  It's not like this is a new account, I've never missed a payment, never been cut off.  I'm going to call and talk to these Voice Link people tomorrow and unless things get back to normal right then and there I'll be calling the Public Utilities Comission filing a complaint, and then see where we go from there.  Anybody else have this happen to them or experience anything like this?  I'm just outside Houston TX in case anyone is wondering what part of the world this is happening in.

You were told wrong. iPods have a 14-day return policy.

  • SELECT_LIST_FROM_QUERY max query length

Is there a max query length for SELECT_LIST_FROM_QUERY?
I have the basis of a list working OK but when I tried to make the query more complex to meet the business requirement I am getting a

    Mark,
How long is your query? The SELECT_LIST_FROM_QUERY function accepts the query as a varchar2, so it’s "limited" to 32767 characters.

  • Max buffer size for HDS streams

How does OSMF (v2.0) compute the max buffer length for HDS streams (pre-recorded)?
I have  mediaPlayer.bufferTime = 5 seconds, but I see that even on very good b/w connections, the buffer length does not exceed 7.5 secs. Is there a way to increase the maximum buffer length value, so that clients on higher b/w can accumulate a larger buffer?
By comparison, for RTMP, the buffer length seems to go up to 60sec which is consistent with what the docs say here:
    http://livedocs.adobe.com/flashmediaserver/3.0/hpdocs/help.html?content=00000175.html
    Thx,
    - abey

No. Did not find a way to set the maxBuffer value, but I was able to workaround the problem by setting the mediaPlayer.bufferTime dynamically (i.e different values for various stages of playback, like loading, seeking, buffering, normal playback etc.)..So setting bufferTime to 60 secs during normal playback allows the buffer to grow to a decent size.

  • Max column length

I will like to find out what is the MAX column length for nchar and nvarchar types using AL16UTF16.
As per the metalink article 'Examples and limits of BYTE and CHAR semantics usage' it is 1000 and 2000 for 2 bytes characters. But in Al16UTF16, characters can also take up to 4 bytes. So does that change the max limits.
Also what is MAX length for a Clob and NClob type

in Al16UTF16, characters can also take up to 4 bytes. No. One character (code point) is represented in 2 bytes. However, some characters are mapped to surrogate pair of code points, as pointed out by the Note "In AL16UTF16 this will use 2 UTF16 codepoints and so occupy 4 bytes.".
So the limits noted still applies. If you have logical characters mapped to more than one code point, more space will of course be required for storage.

  • Max Settings Length

Hi. I found a duplicate question via Google - Plumtree Settings - Max Size Limits - but it never got answered. Can someone please let me know what the max length allowed is for an admin setting? Is there a max, combined length for all settings for a portlet?
    Thanks.
    Edited by: 926435 on Apr 9, 2012 12:32 PM

I do not understand your question... The topic you are refering to is about plumtree while this is the WebCenter forum.
Are you having issues with portlets in webCenter or plumtree?
What exactly is the use case? Are you asking how long a specific value for a portlet preference can be? For WebCenter I don't think this is an issue because the values are posted and not passed on the request URL.
