MAX cannot see PXI-8252
Hi all,
I have NI PXI-1042 with PXI-8187 and PXI-8252. In MAX-Devices and
Interfaces I
cannot see 8252 (port 2 empty). I tried to uninstal and reinstall 8252
(add
hardware).
Thanks in advance.
The driver for the PXI-8252 is included natively in Windows. Since NI does not provide the driver for this board, the board will not appear in MAX.
Does the PXI-8252 appear normally in the Windows Device Manager? Are you able to communicate to 1394 devices?
If you connect a 1394 device for which NI does provide the driver, that 1394 device should appear in MAX. For example, if you connect a 1394 camera that is supported by NI-IMAQ for IEEE 1394 then the camera should appear in MAX.

NI MAX cannot see / looses network instrument
There appears to be a bug with NI MAX where a network instrument which was previously configured suddently dissappears and when we attempt to re-establish the instrument, MAX claims that it cannot find the instrument.
This was seen on 4 different stations, all sharing the similar behavior. This was also seen at a completely different customer where the configuration was setup by a fourth person. At client # 1 there are 4 stations. They were setup by 3 different people using the same instructions. Everything was fine on all 4 stations. All of a sudden, the information dissappears from the network instrument list and it is not possible to re-configure the network instrument within MAX. A similar behavior was reported by another client which is totally different than the first client. NI MAX was configured by a different person than at client 1, possibly using different steps (although it is quite simple to setup a network device within NI MAX).
NI MAX at client #1 are versions 5.40f0 and 14.0.0a2.
NI MAX at client # 2 is version at least 14.0.0a2.
If we copy an exported settings file from another station, the network devices are restored and it is possible to use the network instrument. However, if you attempt to setup the instrument manually, because MAX cannot find it automatically, it is not possible to validate the instrument and complete the setup. Even if you cheat and complete the setup, the PC will not communicate with the instrument via VISA. However, it is possible to communicate with the instrument outside NI MAX. The instrument is seen by the PC and does respond to ping requests.
See image below.
When trying to validate the instrument, NI MAX responds with the fact that it could not open a VISA session via TCPIP.
My first question is: why does the instrument dissappear in the first place?
Rebooting the PC did not help. Basic troubleshooting did not resolve the issue. This is not the first time I work with NI MAX and with network instruments; however, this is the first time I see them dissappear fromNI MAX.
I did not find anything while searching for posts for similar issues, so I do not know if anyone else has seen this. I did encounter a similar description for a bug that was supposidly fixed in MAX 5.4
Does anyone at NI have a clue at how to make NI MAX more solid with respect to network instruments?
Thanks,
RayR

badMAX.png 190 KBHello AK2DM,
I was just north of you last week in Sedona. Beautiful place. Our next trip in your area will take us to Phoenix. We'll have to get together.
There are no dependencies on any NI Services that I am aware of. A customer just reported a similar issue at their Penang CM site. They are now in a bit of a panic. I did not work on the code at that site, but 3 sites, 2 customers reporting the same issue??? That's not a coincidence. Something is wrong with MAX. The only way to recover is to import the configuration file within NI MAX. It was impossible to simply scan for the instrument to get MAX to communicate with the instrument, although the PC, that has NI MAX installed, is able to ping the instrument.
I may have seen a similar issue a few years ago with another client where we kept loosing the network communication, but gave up and switched to GPIB. At the time, we thought the network switches were causing issues and blamed it on the network. Today, I may think otherwise... I do not know what to investigate to verify why this is occurring. Strangely enough, these systems ran for a year before we started seeing the symptoms. I thought windoze upgrades was turned off... It may be related to some recent upgrade, because we only started seeing these unusual behaviors since November (?). I can't remember exactly when we first saw it. Late fall / early winter??
It is strange that you started seeing an odd behavior around the same time. Running windoze, right? I never liked windoze... Everyone should move to Linux/Unix/Solaris. LOL! -

MAX can see PXI 8464, but not LabView
I have a PXI-8464 card, and it shows up on MAX, but it doesn't show up on my pull down manual in LabView. What is wrong?
In the LabView Project:
Thanks.Good afternoon Bladhart,
I have had this happen to me several times. If you have not already tried it, select the Browse option on the drop-down menu (see Browse screenshot.png) and see if you can manually navigate to the device name that way.
In general, you can alter the devices shown in that drop-down menu by right-clicking on the menu and selecting I/O Name Filtering (see IO Name Filtering.png). On the menu that opens, you can make sure that the channel(s) and I/O type you are expecting is selected (see Filter Names.png).
Hope this helps! Good luck with your application.

Satellite M70-340: I cannot see the DVD schort cut menu after reinstallation
Hi,
I just recently bought Toshiba M70-340 2 weeks ago. Now I learn that there is better Toshiba comparing the my one.
My question is I cannot see on the screen the DVD schort cut menu. First time when I opened it it was on the rıght handside
of screen and my machine was Turkish Win XP Home edition. Than I reformat and change into English version of WinXP that comes with in Toshiba recovery CD. But I lost the screen menu for DVD I guess. Now ı don't know how to re-install that option.
Plus my machine is use the Intel Centrino 1.7 but I am not sure if this is a dual proccess. Secondly the ram is 512MB and I am trying to buy 2GB extened ram but seems still very very expensive (around $1100) Why is that 2GB ram so expensive?
I am using my laptop for software engineering as well as using Macromedia flash and Adobe Photoshop.
The both application and MS VS.NET 2005 as well as SQL Server 2000 and SQL Server 2005 application are very slow and sometime it takes more than 30
min. to compile or open it.
I have my home PC P4 3.2G with 1GB ram and it's faster than my Toshibe laptop.
Please be patien with me, after a 5 years later I bought my second laptop and first one was notebook from another manufacture.
I search in the internet and I find the M70-340 with Turkish Q type keyboard was the best option and it cost me $1450.
All I need how to overcome my problem and I need someone from Toshiba to explained to me carefully.
Can someone read my post and answer my question and worries?
I thank you very much and I looking forward to receive some help.
Kind Regards,
NTMS2006Hello
I dont want to disappoint you but please dont expect someone from Toshiba will write to you because this is user-to-user forum. I will try to write some comments because I have the same unit as you.
This DVD shortcut is really not understandable for me and I really dont know what you are writing about. If the DVD drive is recognized and installed properly it should be listed in device manager and also shown in Windows explorer. If you want to discus about it please describe exact status of DVD drive in device manager and Windows explorer.
You are right about memory. This notebook is delivered with 512 MB Ram. According the notebook specification it can handle max with 2GB of Ram and if you want to use max please use 2x1GB module. Compatible one is DDR2-400/533 1GB (PA3411U-1M1G).
2GB modules are the newest and everything new is very expensive. I dont know how much it can costs but definitely not around $1100. For this money you can buy the whole notebook.
The list of used software is impressive and I am not wondering if the notebook runs slow. Upgrade it to max Ram and it will be much faster. Please dont compare your desktop with this mobile unit.
Pick up info how much costs PA3411U-1M1G memory module and use two of them for max RAM. You will see that unit will run faster and I hope you will be satisfied with performance.
Have a nice day! -
Why is it when I convert a keynote show into HTML, PC users cannot see it properly on their computers?
JohnRobertBrown wrote:
It looks perfect using Google Chrome on my Mac. But doesn't work well on Explorer on a PC. It seems to be way off center.
There is never any guarantee that automatically generated html will look right on every browser, especially Explorer. For max compatibility with MS stuff it's best to use Office to start with instead of iWorks.
I don't know whether you could manually edit the Keynote html to make it work better with Explorer. It would be interesting to know whether it looks right in Windows Safari, Chrome, or FireFox so you could know whether only IE does it wrong. -
Cannot see buddy in iChat, they see and hear me fine
Using OS 10.5.7
iChat 4.0.8
Cannot see AIM user (AIM v6.8.14.6, who is on a PC) using iChat when I initiate the session. They see me fine; I only see myself on my iMac.
I am running Perian 1.1.2 (not 1.1.3; I read the previous threads on this issue).
When the AIM user on a PC initiates the session, there is a connection error on my end (I have pasted the details below).
I've read through a ton of related postings on this topic and nothing seems to work. It worked back in January, but never since. VERY frustrating.
Could use some insight. We use this so our son can chat with Grandma and Grandpa.

Perian is NOT set to "update". This is so bizzare. In Yahoo Messenger and Gmail video we can see each other. The problem with Gmail is that it crashes and is very delayed and Yahoo messenger does not allow for audio chat. We had this working in iChat to AIM in late December and then on Jan 3, it stopped. They can see and hear me, I can't see our hear them. When it was working in iChat to AIM, it was beautiful! When I do iChat to iChat with colleagues, no issues, works perfectly. So, I don;t think its my router. Any thoughts? Thanks so much my man.

Hello,
We are installing a N1K 4.2(1)SV1(5.1) and for this purpose installed VSM on a Seperate DataCenter Vsphere 5 Cluster onto a blank ESX host. Our problem is that VSM and VEM cannot see each other. What step may we missing?
Thanks in Advance,
Best Regards,
We followed the Installation and Getting started guides:
Cisco Nexus 1000V Installation and Upgrade Guide, Release 4.2(1)SV1(5.1)
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/datacenter/nexus1000/sw/4_2_1_s_v_1_5_1/install_upgrade/vsm_vem/guide/n1000v_installupgrade.html
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/datacenter/nexus1000/sw/4_2_1_s_v_1_4_a/getting_started/configuration/guide/n1000v_gsg.html
from other Discussions we understand that something must be missing with respect to "Control Vlan" which will provide L2 communication between VSM and VEM.
show svs connection shows that vcenter recognizes the VSM
vem status on the ESX host shows the VEM as ok
management, control and packet vlans are same vlan
show module sees only the active and ha-standby vsms, but no vem exists.
show module vem mapping indicates that somehow VSM recognizes the VEM, if the VEM 3 is absent, how could it be seen by VSM once?
One point to note is VSM and VEM are on the same host, can this be a difference between usual configuration? Will test a case when VSM and VEM are on seperate ESX hosts.
if we put Vmware dVS instead of N1K and put a host on this Control Vlan, it may ping to other vlans, and the VMs for port-profiles can communicate to the outside world,
We don't think this is a licensing problem because by default 16 CPUs are on the VSM, and it did not change after the licens is installed.

I am having the exact same problem as Canero with the same software version. My setup is as follows:
1. L3 mode with VSM and VEM on different subnets/hosts
2. With the same set of port profiles and UCS service profile cloned, I have one host showing up in VSM and another not showing up. In my view, this rule out mis-configuration in
a. system vlan on veth port profile
b. vlan configuration in upstream switch and UCS fabric interconnect
3. Sometimes, the VEM did managed to show up but can drop without any reason
4. Sniffer trace indicates that there are bi-directional traffic between VSM and VEM
5. show logging logfile has the following error:
2012 Apr 24 15:21:47 VSM-PROD %VMS-5-DVS_HOSTMEMBER_INFO: A host with name=[172.16.105.131] and uuid=[a7f30c6a-6eb0-11e1-2000-000000000006] is added to the dvs. The host is not found as a module in the VSM configuration.

Airport Extreme Base Station cannot see with Macs
Out of the blue my Macs are experiencing a problem seeing the base station network. I can see it with my iPhone. I have a PowerMac G5 duel core 2 Ghz and cannot see the base station or it is sporadic. System says that the airpot card is recognized on my G5. Other Macs on network experiencing the same issue. Tried turning everything off and restarting. This only works part of the time.
I am on Cox cable service using the modem then the airport. Any suggestions? Thanks for any help in advance.Hi Max,
Let's start from the beginning,
The ethernet from the modem should be wired to the Wan port of the Airport...
On page 28 of the users manual it says if the light flashes amber you should unplug the power of the modem, wait a few seconds and power up the modem.
I presume you installed the Airport utility from the disk that came with the Airport?
For more information about the reason the light flashes
Open AirPort Utility, select your base station, and then choose Manual Setup from the Base Station menu. ClickBase Station Status to display information about the flashing light
Here is a link to the Manual CLICK HERE
I was hoping to find out more about the Airport utility to see what's it's capable of doing... -
Cannot see new SQL 2008 R2 Express instance on Small Business Server 2011!
Hi,
As it is stated on the subject line, I'm having a problem after I did a new install of SQL 2008 R2 Express and put a new instance on SBS 2011.
I'm developing a new program using SQL 2008 in C# and VB.Net. I have SQL 2008 R2 Express installed on my computer called "MSQL8R2EDATA" on my PC. Now I need to deploy it on SBS 2011 so I can do some testing on other workstations.
I'm currently running Windows 7, 64 bit, and it's named STEVE-PC. The SBS 2011 is named SERVER1, and it's 64 bit as well.
After installation on SERVER1 (SBS 2011), I then fired up SQL Server Configuration Manager and enabled Named Pipes, TCP/IP, and VIA.
After I've completed the SQL Configuration on SERVER1, I went back on my PC (STEVE-PC) and I tried to use Management Studio to connect to the new instance MSQL8R2EDATA on SBS 2011, only problem is, I only see the computer name, not the new instance
I've installed.
Back on SBS 2011 (SERVER1), I've verified that all the protocols are enabled, and the SQL Server Browser is automatically loaded and currently running, as well the MSQL8R2EDATA instance is automatically loaded and running, yet I still cannot see
it from my PC (STEVE-PC). I even switched from dynamic ports to a static port of 64719 (that was what the MSQL8R2EDATA was listening on that port when it was dynamic), and then added new rules to the Windows Firewall for program of the SQLSERVR.EXE, and
for UDP and TCP for port 64719 to "Allow All Connections" for Domain, Private, and Public; yet I still cannot connect SERVER1\MSQL8R2EDATA. I even disabled the firewall and then trying to connect once again to SBS 2001 and it still fails.
In case you're wondering, I left it on port 64719 since there are other active SQL Servers on SBS 2011 (SharePoint, SBSMonitoring, and ACT7).
Interestingly, when I run Management Studio on SBS 2011, I can see STEVE-PC\MSQL8R2EDATA and I'm able to log in and connect to it.
So what's going on here?!? Why am I able to connect to STEVE-PC which is Windows 7 64 from SBS 2011 (SERVER1), but I cannot connect from my computer to that instance on SBS 2011??
I really could use some big time help on this.
EDIT: Sorry for the confusion, but on the Windows Firewall (WF.msc), I did add new rules for incoming connections on:
Program incoming connections to SQLSERVR.EXE
TCP Port 64719
UDP Port 64719
EDIT: To further assist, I have Management Studio installed on the SBS 2011, and I can locally log in and connect to the MSQL8R2DATA on SERVER1 with success. I even tried tcp:SERVER1\MSQL8R2DATA and again it is successful log-in and connection.
Thanks in advance!
SteveHi,
Thanks for the response, but I have a question:
Installing SQL Express or SQL Server is not recommended on SBS
2011 because it is a DC, however technically it will work.
I'm a newbie when it comes to SBS 2011 and I'm taking a crash course on the subject. Can you explain to me what you mean by "DC"? Also, why
isn't recommended to install a new instance on SBS 2011?
As I also stated, I've added "New Rules" to the Windows Firewall to allow incoming connections on port 64719 for both TCP and UDP, and I also allowed incoming connections for SQLSERVR.EXE but no joy to connect to the SERVER1\MSQL8R2EDATA.
And yes, I can log-in and connect locally on SERVER1 using Management Studio with success. I even used tcp:SERVER1\MSQL8R2EDATA with the same success. It's my workstation STEVE-PC that fails. If that fails, then the rest of the workstations are going to fail.
Are you suggesting that I put the SQL Server 2008 Express on another workstation and just allow to to be
accessed that way? -
i have just dowloaded the icloud control panel on my PC and i am am able to see everything that has been pushed to icloud from my ipad. However i cannot see my email. i can send from the computer using icloud, but i do not see any mail that is being received by my ipad, which is set up with my mail server. What haven't i checked lol?
turn your ipad off by holding the sleep wake button for 5 seconds and slide to turn off then turn it back on and the apps should be finished and if the apps didnt finish just redownload them

I just switched from an iPhone to a Galaxy 4S and I like it except for text messaging. I can text, they can see it, but I cannot see their response if they are using an iPhone. Can you help me with this? What do I do please?
Congratulations on your new phone kathdogg! Now let's get your messaging working correctly. If you still have your old device, turn it on, go to settings, and turn off iMessaging.
If you are no longer in possession of your old device, you will need to remove your phone number from your Apple Support Profile. This can be done here: http://bit.ly/1cst2SC
Please keep us posted, and let us know if this resolves your issue!
Thank you,

Cannot see table in sql developer or sql plus
I have created a record in application designer. I have then built the table. I can close the record and then find it again in application designer. But if I go to sql plus or sql developer, I cannot see it. Am I missing a step?
You probably can see all the tables of sysadm because someone else give you proper grant for that on existing sysadm's objects.
For the new or modified object (drop+create) you should :
1. connect as sysadm and run
grant select on new_table_name to your_own_user;2. connect with your own user and run
create synonym new_table_name for sysadm.new_table_name;Then you'll be able to query that table without using schema name alias.
Some admin have also a ddl trigger to make it automatically.
You could also work through a role and public synonym if more than one user needs to access sysadm's objects.
