Max Clock Speed (AMD Chips only please)

I was wondering what the highest CPU clockspeed in MegaHertz anyone has got on any AMD chip. This is sort of a see whos highest contest
If you can, put down the FSB, Multiplier and model.
Thanks

Hello, Overclocking Gurus, my set up is in my sig.
The highest Overclock I could achieve, with my Barton 2500, and were
it would boot into Windows, and run stable for any period of time was
220 x 11.5 = 2,530MHZ with the vcore @ 1.85v with my Core temp
running @ 10-20 degrees Celsius over ambient.
I didn’t want to smoke my Core or my RAM quite yet, so I back it down
to 202 x 11.5 = 2,323 MHZ with the vcore @ 1.70v, now my Core temp
runs @ 2-6 degrees Celsius over ambient, and totally stable 24-7.
The Highest Overclock for a Barton 2500 non-M, that I found was 3,210
MHZ with the vcore @ 1.90v and cooled by air with a SLK-700 and a
TMD fan.  It’s hard for me to believe, that someone can reach 3,210 MHZ
on air with a SLK-700 and a TMD fan!  If someone could achieve that
high of a overclock, I would have thought surely it was cooled by a
Prometeia rig!  But who really knows, it could just be a little fib!
I found that info here http://www.overclockers.com and click on CPU database.
I can almost guarantee that there have been higher Overclocks using liquid
Nitrogen!  But I don’t think it will remain stable for any period of time!
Liquid submersion is the way to go if you want to achieve nice Overclocks,
with a very low overall temp, but it is extremely expensive, and quite scary
putting all of your components into a bath of liquid, also, it might be a bit
messy if you like to change video cards or other components often!

  • Max clock speed of 4th gen i5-4210U processor on R014TX Notebook

    Hi,
My new laptop, HP R014TX has Intel 4th gen i5 processor. The maximum speed of this processor under turbo boost mode is 2.7GHz as seen in the specification. But on my system it is showing and reaches a max clock of 2.4GHz and not 2.7GHz. Why is this so? Could you please explain me on this.
Thanks in advance for your response.
    Regards,

Even though the CPU specs are such, the HP BIOS may be preset otherwise.
HP uses the InsydeH2O BIOS which gives the end user very limited to no options for CPU adjustments.

  • FFT express VI: maximum possible clock speed

I'm using the FFT express VI in an FPGA VI running on a PXIe-7962R.  The maximum clock speed I can use without getting timing errors on compilation is 125 MHz.  Is this about right for this VI?  I see that the Xilinx LogiCORE FFT has much faster max. clock speeds listed - > 300 MHz for most configurations.  Would I be able to achieve a significant speed increase by switching to the Xilinx IP module, or are there other timing considerations specific to LabVIEW FPGA that would slow it down?

    Hi Bob,
125 MHz does sound about right for the FFT Express VI.  You may be able to increase that a bit by adjusting the Clock rate, Throughput, and Length parameters, but you definitely won't be able to get it up to 300 MHz as you mentioned.  Based on the Xilinx LogiCORE FFT documentation, it does look like that could be a faster solution. Have you tried compiling with that method?  What clock rates were you able to compile.  Also, what rate are you trying to reach?

  • Low clock speed with amd 3400+

    hi all,
i have an amd 3400+  64bit  and i have downloaded multiple hardware information programs which state that my CPU clock should be between 2.8ghz - 3 ghz with this type of processor, however i only have 2.1 ghz.I have searched the bios and have notice many features are unavilable, i basically cannot change anythings except boot devices and other things that are not usefull to me, my bios does not give the option to change clock speed, or voltage, or bus speed. my current FBS is 201 mhz and my motherboard is  MSI k8T800 7010 with phoenix awardbios 6.00pg version 1.14 03/02/04 can any one help me please i would like to get my processor to the correct speed of 3 ghz.

ah right, so it also says the maximum clock speed is 3000 mhz      , so with overclocking can my processor achieve this?  i have 1 mb of l2 cache.
EDIT what do i do with the bios though because i have a really slow fan that i need to speed up but as i said hardly anything can be done from my bios?!

  • [AMD] Highest clock speed with K8N Neo Plat + A64 3200+ Newcastle?

Who owns the exact setup (ram+cpu+mobo) as me and what is the clock speed you all achieved? Mine can only go till 220x11, Ram at 220mhz,
    (2.4ghz, DDR440)?

The place I bought my parts from were selling similar ready-built systems with K8N and Geil Value Ram (not Golden) so I thought it would have been fine also (same Antec case and PSU)...
300W and 10A is pretty low for a PSU (mine's only 350W and 16A though) - but your problem sounds very much like my original problem (although worse).
Take a look at Ram that does not work well with MSI K8N:

Then i wanted to see if i had a defective motherboard or ram card so i bought a PNY DDR 400 512MB ram stik pulged in at 200 and it worked perfectly.

  • CPU Clock speed with Belle Update

The original symbian^3 devices run on the ARM 11 Processor which has been optimized to function close to 1GHz. But they're currently running at a speed of 680 MHz. My request to Nokia is that please optimize our processor speed to atleast 1GHz with the upcoming belle update. If you haven't planned on doing it, please do it with a minor update atleast after you release belle. I'm not an expert on this. So suggestion and comments are welcome.

I would be surprised if the rest of the hardware in the phone, like the RAM etc, couldn't support the maximum CPU clock speed. When such sophisticated electronic devices are designed it's impossible to know until it's all been put together how it will actually perform as a complete unit - the hardware, software, battery capacity, etc. The clock speed allows a fine-tuning once everything comes together, to get the optimal balance.
Well-made software makes a huge difference to how much CPU/hardware resources are required. Software efficiency is the most important factor of all.
A GPU is only there to perform tasks that would otherwise take up huge amounts of CPU resources. Dedicated graphical tasks such as 2D scrolling, 3D texture-mapping/filling for example. But that's all. The CPU is still running the whole show, but just has much of the load taken off it by the GPU.
So with the GPU doing more and more, the CPU and it's speed become less relevant.
A few things here, some of what you have mentioned I agree with. But some I dont. Firstly when any device is designed, things like the GPU and RAM are all allowed for, that is the speed at which each is capable. There is no use taking pot luck saying oh we think that will be enough. Its all calculated right from the word go.
Its done for several reasons, firstly costings, there is no use producing something that is so expensive no will be able to afford it. secondly to make sure you dont end up with bottle necks in data flow. Also it no use producing something that is so slow that you cant do anything worthwhile on it. That is some of the reasons.
You are absolutely right about software, well made software installed in a relatively slow running device can quite often beat poorly designed software running on a fast machine at exactly the same task. O/S like windows for instance, in my opinion only, whilst full of features, is definitely bloated, and not well designed. A standard install disc for windows these days is around the 3Gig mark (depending on version of OS), where as something that does exactly the same thing like Linux still fits on a 700M cd.
And you are right about the GPU, its does relieve the pressure on the cpu. Unfortunately the gpu in an N8 or an E7 is only running at 200Mhz. Considering most things are graphical based on these phones. I would have to wonder how much of the gpu is being used, especially when the one chip is running everything from the 2d/3d graphics/rendering, the camera up to 12MP, HDMI, HD video recording and play back, a stack of video codecs etc.
Unfortunately the main cpu from everything i was able to find is simply listed as an ARM11, these processors run on several Nokia's phone, including the older E90 (which had dual cpu's but ran at much slower speed of about 332 Mhz., however the Arm site list the ARM 11 as several versions, including one that actually has 4 cpu on the one the chip but only presents itself as 1 cpu to the rest of the hardware, with this cpu running anywhere up to 1Ghz. So its entirely possible that the 680Mhz listed for the N8/E7 could be as fast as it goes. Also the current versionof the ARM11 have a power consumption of 0.21mW/Mhz. so based on that figure a processor running at 680Mhz would consume 142.8 mW, but at 1G it would be 210mW, that a difference of 67.2mW. That would mean your phone would go flat a lot quicker. This info is based solely on information that I can find on Nokia run sites, ARM's site and broadcoms site. That way we can beleive what we are able to read with some certainty. I did find other non-related site suggesting 720mhz for the cpu, but they are only a 3rd party mobile news site, that said it had been suggested that it was capable of 720Mhz..
But i do firmly believe with efficient code the phones can perform extremely well, Anna certainly seems faster than the old Symbian ^3 version that was on the phone prior to Anna, whether or not Belle can be made any more efficient remains to be seen. But heres hoping.

try reseting the BIOS by taking out the battery for 10 minutes. try running it again at optimized defaults (that means no overclocking) in slots 3&4.

  • Max Qualified Speed vs Current Speed

I run CPU test in Lenovo System Toolbox. My Max Qualified Speed  is 2.53GHZ, but my Current Speed is only 1.60GHz. I found it strange. Is this normal, or there is a setting where I can change it?
I am not running from battery, laptop is pluged in.
    Thanks for help.

Which model thinkpad are you using? also what is the full model number? xxxx-xxx?
Are you using the laptop with battery plugged in or not plugged in.
Also, are you running the laptop in performance mode or battery saver mode?
Download Tpfancontrol does your CPU speed increase to maximum?
Also, you should remember that the laptop doesn't always run the CPU at maximum speed, it will clock up and down depending on the CPU load.

  • Disappointing MSI GTX 660 TF3 clock speeds / voltage, not on par with others

    Hi,
I wanted to ask why is there suck a disperency between my GTX 660 TF3 speeds/voltage compared to other people.
My max boost clock is 1123.5 whereas most references i found  are above 1150/60+ in average
My max voltage under full load in GPU-Z is 1.162 whereas others got 1.175
Is it linked to my poor ASIC of 68.8% ?
Currently disappointed because i thought that by buying an MSI card (premium priced in my country) i would got better clocks or at least clocks in the average range of other users. I guess i'm just unlucky, but being a bit burnt now, i think i'll pass and try another brand next time.
That said, is it normal that my card doesnt even reach a voltage of 1.175 under full load ???
Thanks in advance for your reply, and merry christmas anyways.

Quote from: zigzagzap on 26-December-12, 05:30:34
Thank you for the reply, but talking to me about overclock is a bit off-topic dont you think?
not really as the boost clock is an automatic overclock (the boost clock is down to the GPU as well, some will hit the target of 1150MHz some wont)!
Quote from: zigzagzap on 26-December-12, 05:30:34
Under stock presets (no-overclock-at-all), all of them have cards that got a 1.175 voltage under full load whereas mine is only 1.162
Even when you look at reviews on internet, you can see that they list 1.175v as STOCK voltages under full load in their default specs sheet for that MSI card.
All in all, gotta ask again, is it normal for my card to not run at 1.175v on stock presets? Yes/no?
like i said it depends on the individual GPU! most will run at 1.175V under load normally but some wont as its very random as no 2 are identical and the voltage the core asks for is very random from sample core to sample core!
its all luck of the draw..... <--- seen some referance cards that will out perform full custom ones.
if you not satisfied >>How to contact MSI.<< contact them and if you wan't a replacement then they will tell you how to go about it! <--- no expected voltages or clock speeds are ever fully garenteed as the newer GPU's are all over the place.

make sure these are set as such in BIOS
    go to Settings\Advanced\Power Management Setup
    EUP2013 = Disabled
    go to Overclocking\CPU Features
AMD Cool and Quiet = Disabled
    C1E = Disabled
if you do not mind your computers CPU running hotter all the time Enable HPC Mode (High Power Computing Mode) as that will auto max out the clocks it uses and will not let them drop below Base clock speed (4GHz for the FX8350)!
All of this is done, and it freezes on win 7 splash art loading screen, and never moves. That is with the HPC enabled. I do have High performance set as my power mode inside of win7 as well.

  • Does Cool N Quiet + AMD Chip Driver = Video Card Overclocking?

For some odd reason, my 9800NP is automatically changing its clock rates on me.  Never down, only up.  Does N Quiet and/or the AMD Chip Driver impact your video card?  Right now it booted at 378/330 which is a 9800Pro.  I'm using the normal BIOS for a NP, but it does show up as a pro in the Display properties.  Any ideas?

I think the Cool N Quiet software doen't like RadLinker/RadClocker.  I enabled Cool N Quiet in the BIOS, but did not install the associated software. All better now!!
