  • Default selection in prompt

    Hello,
    Using obiee 11.1.1
    I created one presentation variable in the prompt using sql results.
    Using that prompt in my anaysis.i..e which i am using in the filter.
    Initailly when i run the dashboard since no value is selected from the filter its shows no results found
    No Results
    The specified criteria didn't result in any data.
    This is often caused by applying filters and/or selections that are too restrictive or that contain incorrect values. Please check your Analysis Filters and try again. The filters currently being applied are shown below.
    M_NAME is equal to / is in VarMName
    Whar i want is
    scenario 1->what to do so that the No results found msg should not come and just the filter should be displayed.
    or
    scenario 2-display all the values of filter in the report initially i.e. as though one has selected all the filter value.
    or
    scenario 3->By default select one filter value and show result for that.
    I want to know how to do the 3 scenarios?
    Thanks

    Hello,
    Thanks for the reply.
    Scenario 1 i achieved.Thanks for that.
    Diff between 2 and 3 is
    2->Display null in the filter and in the report display all the values for which filters were genertrated.
    3->Display one filter value and in the report display only values with matching filter.
    I am using the presentation variable now only in creating filter.
    I did one thing i edited the pv and then in the default selection i pasted the same query which i am using in the lov,so when i run the dashboard
    i ma seeing initially the first filter geting selected but in the report region it wont show the machting filter result,it shows no result found, until i click on apply or refresh.Dont know why the filter query not taking the default value of pv?
    for 2->how to modify the filter because now its using the pv and only when the pv is null it should show everything
    How to do 2 and 3
    Thanks

  • Issue in Default selection in Dashboard prompt

    Dear All,
    I have a dashboard prompt with columns year and month.month column i kept as slider in that default selection i kept 45 days backward from current date,since my requirement is the end user have the option to selection the day backward instead of 45 they need to selection either 45 or 30 15 15 based on that they have to run the report.can any help in this regards.
    appreaciate the immediate response !!!!
    Regards
    GN

    Hi GN,
    Create an variable prompt ( Eg: v_days ) and add custom values as 15,30,45,100 into it and keep the default as 45.
    Use v_days variable in another column prompt (Eg: Period) with the format MON-YYYY.
    Now when user selects no of days , period will get the corresponding change.
    Thanks,
    Haree

  • Setting default date range in selection screen when executing as batch job.

    Hi Guys,
    I have one report to be scheduled as weekly batch job and one of the selection screen field is date range. If i set this report to run today then the date range will be from one week back date(Lower value) to today date(Higher value). When it runs for next week(Already scheduled as weekly batch job) the date range should be like this
    Lower value = today date
    higher value= next week run date.
    How can i achieve this functionality. Is it possible through Dynamic variant concept?. Rest of the selection screen fields have some default values and should not change.

    Thanks in advance,
    Vinod.

    Hi Vinod,
    Would suggest you to this.
    Create two parameters : p_start_date and p_end_date of type sy-datum on your selection screen , instead of a range.
    Now goto create a variant from SE38 for the report.
    While creating the variant, mark the "Selection Variable" checkbox for the two parameters and click on "Selection Variables".
    Select the option "D: Dynamic date calculation" for both the date fields.
    For p_start_date - select the option "Current Date"
    For p_end_date  - select the option "Current date +/- ??? days" and put 7 in the pop up.
    Hence what you have done now is, set up a dynamic variant, where p_start_date will have sy-datum and p_end_date will have sy-datum + 7, everytime the job runs.
    Now, in the program, first step after START-OF-SELECTION code the following:
    RANGES: r_date FOR sy-datum.
    start-of-selection.
    refresh r_date.
    r_date-sign = 'I'. r_date-option = 'BT'.
    r_date-low = p_start_date. r_date-high = p_end_date.
    append r_date.
    Hence this way, you would have built your range and use it as needed.
    Cheers,
    Aditya

  • Default Selection Issue in Dashboard Prompt

    Hi All,
    I am using the below logical SQL in SQL Results for Default Selection of a column in a dashboard prompt,
    SELECT "Facts"."Service Provider", "Config"."Integration Id" FROM "IMONIT - Transaction Log" WHERE "Config"."Integration Id"='@{inttype}'
    Here, I have used a presentation variable, which is set by another prompt. Also the Facts and Config table are joined in RPD. The issue is it does not selects the values returned by the logical SQL by default. But if i use the same logical SQL in SQL Results of Choice List Values for the same column in the prompt, the logical SQL does work and populates the prompt only with the values returned by the logical SQL.
    Any help is much appreciated.
    Regards,
    Maria

    Deepak, actually the scenario is that I am navigating to the page with the dashboard prompt from another answers report located on another dashboard page. This SQL works perfectly when I press the GO button of prompt on the same page. But its not working when I am navigating to the same page with the prompt from any other report. Any ideas ?

  • Query to select value for max date from a varchar field containing year and month

  • Default selection on current month, week and date

    Hi,
    We are on Dashboard 4.1 sp3 the same version as BI.
    The dashboard report is using LiveOffice connection. We are now facing an issue with default selection on current month, week and date.
    The dashboard report drilled down from month, to week, then to date. The dashboard feed -live office report is on month/week/date ascending order - becuase we have running average calcualtion on LO report, it seems have to be in ascending order to get the correnct runnning average.
    I tried to on Insertion to change default seletion, it works on month, but it doesnt working on week and daily.
    but when LO report is on ascending order, on dashboard column chart the default selection is not on the current month, week and date.
    Is there a way to solve the issue. Could anyone please help.
    Thanks,

    Hi Suman,
    Thanks for the quick reply.
    Do you mean I Enable sorting -by categrory labels on Behaviour - common tab.

  • Possible to have dynamic default selections for a dashboard prompt?

    I'm running OBIEE 11.1.1.6.5, and I have customer who would like to know if it is possible to dynamically select default values on a dashboard prompt based upon other user prompted columns on the same prompt. For example, I built a dashboard prompt with three fields: Month, Customer, and Product; and I want to add a default selection to my Products prompt to pick the "top 4 products" based on the selected Month and Customer.. assuming every Customer+Month has a different "top 4 products".
    Does anyone please have a suggestion on how I could approach this solution?

    Thank you for your response. I've tested this approach and it seems promising. My concern I have there is how to treat "(All Choices)" values. Say the user selects All Choices on customer or period, and the presentation value in my SQL Results query reverts to whatever default value specified, which is not the intended behavior. My question then becomes how do I treat the null or All Choices and somehow omit the filter criteria or specify fy All Choices as a default to the presentation variable? Your advice is much appreciated.

  • Selecting max date for specific 'operation' code

    I have the following scenario: a history table that keeps track of the 'operation' and the date of the operation. For example, the operation field can have a code of U (for update), C (for closed), O (for re-opened), A (for approved), etc.
    The goal of this history table is to keep track of all of the modifications made. Hence, a particular record of interest can have more than one 'U' operation documented, C operation, etc.
    How can I choose the max date for each operation.
    I was diong the following in my PL/SQL:
    BEGIN
    SELECT operation_code, o_date, user INTO lv_operation_code, lv_date, lv_user FROM table1 WHERE unique_id = pv_id AND operation_code = U' AND o_date = (SELECT max(o_date) FROM table1 WHERE unique_code = pv_id);
    EXCEPTION
    WHEN NO_DATA_FOUND THEN NULL;
    END;
    I then have another begin statement for the 'C' operation, etc.

    Instead of doing a single SELECT with something like "operation_code = 'U'" in the WHERE-clause, you could write a cursor with "GROUP BY operation_code".

  • Select max date from a table with multiple records

    I need help writing an SQL to select max date from a table with multiple records.
    Here's the scenario. There are multiple SA_IDs repeated with various EFFDT (dates). I want to retrieve the most recent effective date so that the SA_ID is unique. Looks simple, but I can't figure this out. Please help.
    SA_ID CHAR_TYPE_CD EFFDT CHAR_VAL
    0000651005 BASE 15-AUG-07 YES
    0000651005 BASE 13-NOV-09 NO
    0010973671 BASE 20-MAR-08 YES
    0010973671 BASE 18-JUN-10 NO

    Hi,
    Welcome to the forum!
    Whenever you have a question, post a little sample data in a form that people can use to re-create the problem and test their ideas.
    For example:
    CREATE TABLE     table_x
    (     sa_id          NUMBER (10)
    ,     char_type     VARCHAR2 (10)
    ,     effdt          DATE
    ,     char_val     VARCHAR2 (10)
    INSERT INTO table_x (sa_id,  char_type, effdt,                          char_val)
         VALUES     (0000651005, 'BASE',    TO_DATE ('15-AUG-2007', 'DD-MON-YYYY'), 'YES');
    INSERT INTO table_x (sa_id,  char_type, effdt,                          char_val)
         VALUES     (0000651005, 'BASE',    TO_DATE ('13-NOV-2009', 'DD-MON-YYYY'), 'NO');
    INSERT INTO table_x (sa_id,  char_type, effdt,                          char_val)
         VALUES     (0010973671, 'BASE',    TO_DATE ('20-MAR-2008', 'DD-MON-YYYY'), 'YES');
    INSERT INTO table_x (sa_id,  char_type, effdt,                          char_val)
         VALUES     (0010973671, 'BASE',    TO_DATE ('18-JUN-2010', 'DD-MON-YYYY'), 'NO');
    COMMIT;Also, post the results that you want from that data. I'm not certain, but I think you want these results:
    `    SA_ID LAST_EFFD
        651005 13-NOV-09
      10973671 18-JUN-10That is, the latest effdt for each distinct sa_id.
    Here's how to get those results:
    SELECT    sa_id
    ,         MAX (effdt)    AS last_effdt
    FROM      table_x
    GROUP BY  sa_id
    ;

  • Urgent!How to set the default selected date for an OAMessageDateFieldBean

    Hi,
    There is messagetextinput on the page.the dataType is Date.
    if I do not input anything on this messagetextinput ,when I click on the date icon,the default selected date is today.
    But I want to set the default selected date base on another messagechoice.
    Is that possible?
    binghao.

    Sumit/Binghao,
    When u set deafult date in the OAMessageDateFieldBean, the OAInlineDatePickerBean (which are referring as datepicker popup windows), takes the default value from OAMessageDateFieldBean.
    If you explore OAMessageDateFieldBean in framework, u will find its nothing but a onClick js event is called on the imageicon attached with messagetextinput bean(in case the type is Date) and OAInlineDatePickerBean is opened in a modal js window.
    So, here is code for setting default value both in both in OAMessageDateFieldBean and OAInlineDatePickerBean :
    OAMessageDateFieldBean dateField = (OAMessageDateFieldBean)webBean.findIndexedChildRecursive(<item id>);
    dateField.setValue(pageContext,new Date(100, 06, 04)/* 4th July 2000*/);
    One more important thing, here Date class is java.sql.Date.I hope i am clear.

    I just checked my BIOS and my current setting is set at IDE although it also mentions that the default should be AHCI. Currently I have a dual boot of Windows 7 (need it for Tax software) and Arch
    So I guess, when I get the new HDD, I will first set it to AHCI and then install the OSes on it. See if NCQ helps any, and if not I will turn it back and re-install (if I have to). I am planning to have Windows only in virtualbox in the new drive.
    Anyhoo, while I was in the BIOS I found two things which I had questions about :
    1) Under Onboard Devices --> Integrated NIC , my setting is currently set at "On w/PXE" and it says the default should be just "On". Would it be ok to change it back to On since its a single machine and its not booting an OS on any server. I just don't want to have to re-install anything now since I will be doing that in the new HDD.
    2) How would I know whether my BIOS would support a 64 bit OS in Virtualbox? I checked some setting under Virtualization, but they weren't very clear.
    I will edit this post and let you know exactly what settings were present under the Virtualization sub-section.

  • Default value of prompt based on another request

    Hello:
    I have a requirement where I need to set default values of prompts based on another request.
    The prompt is a Date Prompt.
    I tried it using presentation variable, and writing sql query, where is says " WHERE promo_id= @{variable}"
    but it is still not working.
    Please let me know the workaround for this issue.
    Thank you.

    How is the End Date determined for your BETWEEN operator? I would assume that is variable. Also, is the second report on another dashboard page or on the same page? Assuming both reports are on the same page, do the below. If not, you can use the same prompts on the second dashboard page. Set the scope to "dashboard" and the selection the user makes carries to the second page.
    The easiest way is to have 3 Dashboard prompts: Promo_ID, Start_Dt, and End_Date. Set these prompts to PVs: pvPromoID, pvStartDate, and pvEndDate, respectively.
    Filter report one on pvPromoID and pvStartDate.
    Filter the second report on pvPromoID and use pvStartDate in the filter of the Date column of report two. Assuming the BETWEEN values are variable, then you can write the following on the Date column of your second report:
    "Table Name"."Date ColumnName" <= '@{pvStartDate}' AND Table name"."Date Column Name" <='{EndDate}'
    And on your Promo column, use the filter "Table Name".Promo = '@{pvPromoID}'
    When the user selects the Promo ID, Start Date and End Date from the prompts, both the first and second reports will be filtered accordingly.

  • How to show value from another Object as Default value from Prompt

    Hi,
       I am creating a web Report with the following filter :
    Enrollment Date FROM :   01/01/2011 12:00:00 AM  (Default 1st day of previous month)
    Enrollment Date TO :     01/02/2010 12:00:00 AM    (Default: 1st day of current month)
    There are values for Enrollment date from 01/01/ 2004 till today but user want to have a default value as in brackets above.
    When I select prompt option for 'Enrollment Date' all the dates (from 01/01/ 2004 till today) are shown as usual. Database is Oracle and I am able to create Objects in Universe that show the default required dates, but not sure how I use them in the prompt. Is there any way or workaround?
    Nanda Kishore.

    If i Understand Correctly you requirement you want to set a default value for date in prompt but user should have the ability to change these values if the want ?
    In order to implement this you can create a Object in Universe with definition
    Date Choice - @prompt('Default or Custom Date','A',{'Default','Custom'},mono,constrained)
    Then use this along with the date prompt in query filter as follows.
          Set Data choice =Default
            Date1= Default Date
            and
            Date2= Default Date
      OR
           Set Date Choice=Custom
            Date1 = Prompt
            and
            Date2= Prompt
