MAX hardware identification

Hello everybody,
I have a general question. When i open the Measurement & Automation Explorer window. I cant find any connected hardware under the Point "My System". The hardware is normaly listed in the device manager (I am obviously using windows.)
What could be the reason for that?
Thanks
K.

I cannot give you any details about the manifacturer, but I can say it is a RS232toUSB converter that tries to address a RS232 device. So at least the converter providing a COM port should appear. As far as we found out it does in Windows Device Manager but not in MAX. I heard there was an error message during installation of LabView...
So this is just what I know...
Greetings and thanks for your reply

  • Prime Graphing Calculator Identification of Older Prime Hardware Version A

    Hello,
I have been trying to update the firmware version to the latest version (2014 07 02 (6031)) on my Prime Graphing Calculator without luck, the release_info.txt file indicates that (for firmware version 2014 03 31 (6030)):
There is limited backward compatibility between this and earlier releases.
Older Prime hardware (Revision A) does support this release, however the wireless, unit-to-unit, and data streamer functionality is not supported on earlier models. In the Help->About HP Prime screen the hardware revision will be displayed along with software version information.
How can I tell if my calculator hardware number is the Revision A hardware?
Is the CAS version the hardware number?
    Thank you very much,
    H.
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

    Hi,
All HP Primes are upgradeable to version 6030 (note that 6031 is for the PC emulator only). It is just that Hardware A has a problem with some communications.
Firmware versions prior to 6030 (i.e. 5447 and older) do not show the hardware version in the 'about' screen.
When you upgrade to 6030 the hardware version will be displayed in the 'about' screen.
You can also determine the hardware version from the model number (found on the back of the box it came in, near the bar code):
    NW280AA is Revision A hardware
    G8X92AA is Revision C hardware
By the way, the following process is recommended for upgrading the Prime:
Install the Connectivity Kit from the CD.
Once the connectivity kit is installed, update the calculator.
    The following method is recommended:
Connect your HP Prime calculator via the supplied USB cable (directly connected, do not use a USB hub)
    Start the HP Connectivity Kit
    Click the Calculator tab
Right-click the name of the HP Prime you wish to update (it would be the one you connected before starting this procedure)
Make a note of the version number and then click the OK button
Click on the Help Menu and select Check for update
Check for update pop-up box, check version number that it is newer than the one you wish to update.
    Then click download button
That's it, you'll see on the screen of your calculator the update being loaded and installed. Don't click too fast to get out of the HP Connectivity Kit, wait a minute or so after completion.
Also, there is a step in the Connectivity Kit where it is advised to back-up the version you had before you run the procedure, just in case. That way you have a way to re-cover.
    Regards.
Note: I do not work for HP, I just like playing with calculators :-)

  • System Identification Assistant Signal Generator

    Hello,
I am using a GW Instek power source to heat a graphite rod within a vacuum chamber.  I am detecting the temperature with a K type thermocouple connected to a thermocouple input module.  I have written a labview program with a PID and have everything running, yet i force tuned the PID. I would like to use the signal identification tools labview provides to identify the transfer function and model the process.  I have used the system identification assitant in attempting to send a step signal and acquire a response, yet I have been running into difficulties.  The only way I can perform a step function is to manually generate an output of a specified power and then measure the response, as the signal generator within the system identification software is not identifying the GW Instek PSW 30-108 power source. With manual input and importing both input and output data i am able to get a parametric model, yet the transfer function provide me PID values which are 5 orders of magnitude greater then the ones i am currently using. Ideally i would like to use the software to generate the signal and measure the response continuously rather then using data i collect through my program.  If possible, I would also be interested in perhaps directly integrating VI's to perform signal analysis directly into my process program.
Problems and what I have done:
I have the drivers for the power source and my process program recognizes the device yet system ident assist cannot find the hardware. I have attempted to creat a task in NI-MAX yet the hardware is also non-identifiable.
Port module input works with VISA and this is how my VI is communicating with the power source.
    Goals:
I would like to use the system ident assist to generate power ouput and collect temperature input, and generate a process model, so that I may tune my PID more accuratly.
Also, I may be interested in integrating VI's directly into my process program, yet I am new to the LV language...
I have attached  my Labview program below.  I would like to thank you in advance for your time and look forward to responses.
    Cheers

  • System identification for open loop unstable plant?

    Hello,
I have been trying to use system identification on labview. My problem is that my plant is open loop unstable and none of the tutorials or examples I have found seem to cover this so I cannot get it to work. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I should go about it? My plant has an RC servo so it needs a PWM signal to stimulate it.
    Thanks
    Adam

I want to control my plant with lead/lag control but I do not know the plant model which makes this very difficult. I cannot theoretically calculate it because the information I need to obtain a numerical transfer function or state space model is unavailable.
I have it controlled with PID at the moment but this is not ideal.
I am trying to use the system identification toolkit to obtain a transfer function but I do not know what to do because the examples do not work for open loop unstable plants.

Ok Open loop unstable functions cannot be predictably controlled (hence the terms; open loop and unstable,)  Not being able to model the actions is a bit of a problem too.
Somehow, someway you need to get some kind of model or some kind of feedback to either provide stability in the plant or close the loop.
Adding hardware (sensors) is the most likely solution.
tell me more about the plant, I do this kind of thing for a living, so I could offer some ideas.

  • Browser Identification!

It's a shame that the Browser Identification option was removed on the WebKit browser starting with the Torch, and I'm equally annoyed that it's not present on the PlayBook. Unfortunately, some sites see the tablet (and the phone) as a "mobile" device, and consequently redirect you to their mobile homepages. Concurrently, many of these sites do not provide a link or any way of getting to the regular desktop verison of their pages.
I have an important request for RIM.... PLEASE change the default browser identification to something other than "PlayBook" or BlackBerry" or whatever it is, and swap it for a popular browser (FireFox 3.6 for example). Or, similarly, provide the OPTION for browser identification in the settings, either "Mobile" or "Desktop." That'd make so many lives so much easier!
Personal note: I know that this will probably NEVER happen, as every subsequent release of OS software for every phone I've ever owned has never included new or highly requested features, only pointless optimizations to the OS (and important bug fixes I'm sure) -- case in point: why do I need my "battery charging" icon to now be animated (on my Torch)? After a year this is the only UI change I've noticed after upgrading a dozen times. PLEASE CONSIDER THE BROWSER ID CHANGE for the PlayBook, and I'll seriously consider buying one when I know that the "full web" is indeed the FULL web.

i have seen some websites now supporting the new browser. some however have chosen to make it mobile, which in my eyes isnt bad. Twitter now allows you to chose your preference for example. i hope some of these will change your mind. not all sites do support it yet but the internet is changing everyday. yes i wish we could choose but with the websites i am on it is not an issue for me.
Full web? seems to me it is closest to full web already compared to some other tablets that dont support flash fully.

  • RLS for system identification: problem in creating a signal + noise input.

i have successfully implemented the RLS algorithm in labview, but i am having alot of trouble generating an input. at first i used a ptbypt sine input and wired it to my FIR Filter (win coeff ptbypt) and to my data queue (ptbypt) to generate U(n). When i plot the adjusted weights they give a perfect Sinc Function.
So, after this i add in a gaussian White noise VI (ptbypt) and add it's output with the output of the sine wave VI (ptbypt) and like before wire the output of the summation to the FIR Filter and the data queue point by point. The problem that is occurring is that my tap weights after becoming constant do not change. they are the same for when i enter the sine wave alone and when i enter the sine wave with the gaussina white noise, tap weights are same. they only change when i change the low cutoff of the FIR FIlter.
its would be very much appreciated if someone may help me solve this problem i am having. I made the RLS (for system identification) as Final Year Engineering Project.

the input is a sine wave , the sine wave passes through a system which incorporates a noise in it (we say the noise incorporated by the system is the Gaussian white noise) the corrupted input enters the system , the filter weights are adjusted by the algo, and a sine waveform is extracted filtering the noise.
what kind of LTI system. Can you please elaborate? and i cant switch to LMS my project is RLS.

  • System identification miso models

    Hi,
I want to know is it possible to identify the MISO and MIMO models using system identification toolkit?
I m using fieldpoint 2010. The program is running very slow inside the fieldpoint. so is it possible to divide the program in such a way that few compuations(which are less critical)  run inside the  computer and few inside the fieldpoint?
    Regards,

    Hi Ruser,
LabVIEW System Identification toolkit provides SI Convert to Models of CDT VI to convert a model you created in the LabVIEW System Identification Toolkit into a transfer function, zero-pole-gain, or state-space model that you can use with the LabVIEW Control Design and Simulation Module.

  • How to set serialnumbers in the Batch UUT Identification dialog box?

    Hello,
I've configured TestStand to use the 'batch process model' and I'm trying to read serialnumber from a file and then update the 'Batch UUT Identification dialog box' 'test socket' fields with these numbers. How?

    Hi Thom-ve-as,
The serial numbers for each test socket in the batch model are obtained within the "PreBatch" callback sequence, called from within the Test UUTs execution entry point of the model.
If you override this callback within your client sequence file (or customize the process model file inside of your User directory) so that instead of displaying the dialog that the model uses to gather serial numbers from an operator, you can replace this process with functionality that reads a file and then writes to the properties below to set the serial numbers for each test socket and the batch.
Inside of the PreBatch callback sequence, you access the test socket serial numbers and batch serial number with the following respective properties:
    Parameters.Mod
    elData.TestSockets[i].UUT.SerialNumber
    and
    Parameters.ModelData.BatchSerialNumber

  • Universal method for serial identification

    Hi,
Is there a universal method for obtaining instrument identification string for any type of serial instrument?   Most national instrument serial device follow "ASRL?*instr" command but not everyone does.  I just wondering if there is a real unversal method that will get IDs for any serial device attached that is very similiar to other data bus like GPIB/USB/Firewire/etc.  I've also tried "*IDN?" command too but no avail.
    Thanks

No.  While some devices support that standard, there are many that do not.  All you can do is read the manual for whatever device you are working with and see what its communication protocol is.  They may not expose that information through the serial port.  It's even possible that the only thing that identifies the serial number for a particular device is its label stuck to it.

  • System identification error 41263

    hi...
can somebody please explain why i am getting an error "41263-The System Identification Toolkit cannot retrieve the data in system model because the model type you wire in is incompatible with the system model requirements. " while using model simulation vi to simulate an arx model i created using estimate arx model vi?

    Hi ajaleelp,
Sorry for the delayed response on this, but I have a few questions for you.  Are you just receiving this error at run-time? Meaning you have no broken wires or anything, but the VI stopsat the model simulation VI?
Also, have you tried our example for model simulation? You can find it here:
    C\program files\national instruments\labview [version]\examples\System Identification\Getting
    Started\General.llb
This actually uses the estimate arx and model simulation VIs. So, you should be able to see if that works, and then compare it to your system.
    Hope this helps!

  • System identification for power converter

    Dear All,
i am working on system identification  for the buck converter . for this i generated variable duty cycle with 20KHz switching frequency on analog output AO1 of usb 6221, now i want to introduce perturbation PRBS in steady state. now my problem is to add perturbation on analog output. please suggest me how to do this on analog output.

Do you want to mix some signal to your PWM signals? You can use normal add function to add your AO PWM signals with the PBRS perturbation signal.

  • Nvidia GTX 970 and Matrox Mojito MAX Premiere Pro CC 2014

    Good day everyone,
I am building a workstation and I would like to ask, if I can use both of the cards, The GTX970 for rendering and Matrox Mojito MAX for monitoring? I know, that Matrox card is hardware accelerating h.264, but is it faster than GTX970? If i can use this combo, how can I set? If i set the Mojito to preview, can I set the Mercury settings in the project settings for GTX970? Will it work? Thank you for respond.

The Matrox hardware has nothing to do with the Mercury settings. When you go to File > Export > Media, you will have options for "H.264" and "Matrox H.264" - choose the Matrox option as "Format" and then you will see dozens of presets to choose from. These will use the Matrox Max hardware acceleration. You can do your own test between similar presets (Adobe and Matrox) and decide for yourself which works better for you. Again, this only affects EXPORT and not "editing" in Premiere.
