Max Number of Cubes in a MultiProvider?

IP documentation recommends that when planning is to be done on a MultiProvider, a maximum of 10 cubes in the Multiprovider should not be exceeded. I am considering a model that will use more than 10 Real Time Cubes because Planners at each site will all be planning on exactly the same  6 or 18 months (0CALMONTH) into the future (potentially at the same time) and they will lock one another because of the common time characteristic and the same keyfigure. I don't want to introduce additional keyfigures to a single cube and would like to consider a cube per site all of which will be in a MultiProvider. I can then build one Open for Input Query which is common to all planners based on the MultiProvider with exit variables to restrict the source of data to exactly (and only) two of the  cubes in the MultiProvider per site (the Site Specific Cube and a common Budget Cube). I feel that this will not involve complex joins and wonder if anyone has any comment on this. Question is what nasties await me for ignoring the max 10 cubes guideline?

A cube per site! blimey
Well if you choose to ignore the 10 cube limit (well I strech to a few more sometime) - then from a business point of view what are you going to do if you set up more sites?
More cubes? then add those cubes to the multiprovider - then the hassle of going through the d-q-p landscape, authorisations etc..
The 10 cubes limit (ish) is also there for a technical reason - apart from the memory problems with UNIONing that many tables there is also a platform dependant maximum no of tables in a union statement (it is around 250 though!)
Don;t forget that there are lots of joins already within the UNIONS due to the extended star scheam

  • Max number of records in a cube & architectural issues

    Hi,
    Sorry if my question was already done but i can't find the same question with the research button (may be i have not the good words for search, I'm not english).
    I am on a BIG BIG IP project. The forecast volume of planned records is about 1.000.000.000 records a year. So we choose to split records toward many cubes.
    1) Is there a maximum number of record supported by a cube to be planned? We planned to put 100.000.000 records maximum on a cube to be planned. Is it too much?
    2) If I make 100 cubes (one for each organizational entity) with 10.000.000 records per cube and if I "plug" a planning layout on these 100 cubes with a multiprovider, will IP:
    spread time to search the good cube to write in (due to the selected entity) in the 100 cubes (too much time !), or,
    search directly in the good cube (thanks to user exit that match cube with selected entity), so the response time will be about the same as the one for 1 layout plugged on 1 cube of 10.000.000 records?
    Thanks a lot, and sorry for my english language level
    Georges

    Hi Georges,
    Having too many records in the cube should not be very detrimental for performance of planning application as long as you can ensure that the data volume that you fetch at one go is restricted to reasonable limits, using restrictions in filters (the more restrictive the better). Take care of this while modelling both your planning functions/sequences and input-ready queries.
    I understand that you'll need to create a multiprovider for reporting purposes, but if you dont need the data from more than one cube for planning purpose, it will be better to create the aggregation level (and rest of the planning model) on top of individual cube. In case, you want to use the same planning function/input queries for multiple cubes (which will probably be the case), you can create the aggregation levels on the multiprovider but make sure you restrict the characteristic 'infoprovider' properly in the filter restrictions to avoid the function reading unnecessary data from many cubes.
    Hope this helps.

  • Show record number in cube report

    Hi,
    There is record number for ODS and infoset, where I can get record number for Cube? I remember I can use formulary, however I can not find it.
    Thanks

    hi,
    not sure this is what you are looking
    count
    try in selection screen, mark 'output number of hits', and entry Max. no. of hits with a big number, estimate will bigger then the total rows you will get.
    after execute, there is one column 1ROWCOUNT which's filled with '1', click this column and click 'Total' (icon like E), the last row of table will show the total rows.
    or check how to count doc

  • Max number of account

    Hi,
    I'm working with Oracle BI Administration Tool 11.1.1.6.1, where I have imported metadata of an Essbase cube with more than 8.000 account (measures).
    Is there a max number of account I can load from an Essbase cube?
    Is there a way to count the account in the Physical Layer (after I have imported metadata) smarter than counting manually?
    Thank for your help,
    MAB (Italy)

    Hi,
    I do not think there is any restriction on the number of measures and YES, counting them manually is a huge task.How about generating a .xml of that .rpd and counting the number of physical object tags in that .xml using some editor like notepad++ ;) .
    Hope this helps
    Thank you,
    Dhar

  • Is there a max number of Apple pro prints allowed per order? I tried 300, then 65 and neither worked. At $2.99 per for shipping, it is expensive to order 20 sets when I used to do just one for all.

    Is there a max. number of Apple pro prints allowed per order with the updated iPhoto/Mountain Lion?
    I have been using the system for years and have had no issues, but this first try under Mountain Lion I was told the max was 300 prints per order.
    It order did not go through, nor did one with 65 photos.  When I tried 2, it was fine, but at $2.99 shipping, plus tax,
    paying $60 to get all 300 of my photos shipped is unreasonable.
    Is this a glitch in the new OS?  Hopefully it will be fixed.

    Hi blabla12345,
    (untested and without warranty)
    replace this line:
    const sSaveCUBE = "CUBE";
    with this:
    const sSaveCUBE = "cube";

  • In BI7 Linking fields of two cubes of a multiprovider in BEx

    There are two cubes in a multiprovider, only one field of these two cubes (SORTL in first cube and ACCOUNT ID in other cube )contain same values based on these two fields.
    Q: how we can combine link these two cubes in BEx Reporting side so that the Corrosponding output come in same line
    Example:for characteristic  Customer Name in 1st cube how we can get corrosponding value for key figure Total Revenue from other cube using characteristic SORTL in 1st cube and characteristic ACCOUNT ID of second cube,(i.e. similar to the way we link two cubes through a commom field in BACKEND using INFOSET)

    Amit,
    Please indicate the fields in cube 1 and 2 clearly and also you would have to use restricted KF for a cross model reporting scenario.

  • Is there a max number of names that can be put into Contacts

    is there a max number of names that can be put into Contacts and still have the app work well?

    Yes, there is. It's how many contacts your hard drive can take. So you can fill up the entire computer with nothing but contacts until your HDD/Flash has no space left. So if you have 250GB, it'd be less than if you had 500GB and you'd have more on 750GB.

  • Max number of chars in process message MSEL?

    Hi, what is the max number of characteristics can be used in process message category's MSEL table? Right now, I am using more than 99 characteristics and I get a short dump DYNPRO_FIELD_CONVERSION. Is it really limited to 99 characteristics and if it is true, is there an OSS note to change it to allow more than 99?
    Thanks and points available

    Please make sure that you build a
    multithreaded program first (check with ldd).
    If anyone can tell me the maximum number of threads per process I would
    really appreicate it.
    Also the maximum number of open files per process. It depends on the architecture (x86/SPARC), OS version,
    64 or 32-bit, /etc/system, shell limitations (/usr/bin/ulimit) ...
    Search for "rlim_fd_max / rlim_fd_cur" on docs.sun.com too.

  • What is the max number of hyperlinks supported in a PDF docment?

    What is the max number of hyperlinks supported in a PDF docment?
    How do I find out how many hyperlinks there are in a PDF document?

    I don't think there's a limit to the number of links you can add to a file...
    This code (taken from the reference files) will report the number of links in your file:
    var numLinks=0;
    for ( var p = 0; p < this.numPages; p++)
    var b = this.getPageBox("Crop", p);
    var l = this.getLinks(p, b);
    console.println("Number of Links on page " + p +" is " + l.length);
    numLinks += l.length;
    console.println("Number of Links in Document is " + numLinks);

  • Max number of Hits Account Identification

    Hi all,
    we are currently having the problem in IC that when somebody try to identify an account of an BP with more that 100 related sold to parties, that no account is displayed because of the standard max number of hits 100.
    I have found the path to customize this in the SPRO but this sentence in the SAP help is making me some headache:
    The higher the number you enter here, the more results the system will search for, and in turn, the more performance is affected. The maximum number of hits that the system allows is 100, which is also the default value.
    I understand the point of the performance, but does this mean that the performance is also affected the account identification of the other BP with less than 100 related sold to parties?
    Can anybody help in this issue?
    We are working on CRM 5.0.

    Hello
    The bug of nothing displayed if over 100 accounts are found is solved with [SAP note 1467929|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1467929.]
    The code you are referring to is:
    IF bpident_profile-max_hits IS INITIAL.
    max_hits = 100.
    ELSE.
    max_hits = bpident_profile-max_hits.
    ENDIF.
    It means that, if blank, 100 hits is considered. You can modify the customizing up to 255 results since that is the limit of accounts to be found.

  • "max number of thread"

    We are running a java web app on a Ubuntu Oracle WebLogic server version 10.3.3.
    The java web app performs long polls with open tcp socket to keep the client connection open. The clients are long polling the WebLogic at 30 seconds.
    Currently we are not able to maintain stability for greater than 24 hours with approximately 200 simultaneous sessions on WebLogic server. Session to me is active client/server tcp connection. We have re-written our application to use continuations, but we are seeing ConcurrentModificationException errors in performance testing.
    Is there any setting in WebLogic for “max number of thread” that can handle?
    Edited by: user9316392 on Jul 8, 2010 11:07 AM

    First, WebLogic since 9.0 has a self-tuning thread pool where WLS will automatically grow and shrink the number of threads based on some internal algorithms. I'm not aware of a hard limit so theoretically there is no max thread count as long as the JVM has memory and WLS thinks more threads will help. You can read up on it here:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/pub/articles/dev2arch/2006/01/workload-management.html
    Practically, I wouldn't expect more than several hundred threads to be helpful.
    As for your situation, how does WLS become unstable? Out of memory, out of file descriptors, errors on new requests, etc. I think you're going to have to use some JVM tools to see what happens to your JVM over time. Is there a memory leak somewhere, is it non-heap memory, etc. JRockit Mission Control is helpful if running on JRockit. If you're on Sun Hotspot, them presumably you can use some of the Hotspot tools. You'll want to compare the state of the JVM towards the beginning of your load test, but after a slight warm-up period with a snapshot after the load test has been running for a long period of time.

  • Max number of buffers

    For fast image grabbing I wand to store images in the memory of the PC. To do this I use LL ring buffering. The max number of buffers is limited by Labview to 50. I tried to increase this by MAX >>Tools >> IMAQ (like suggested on the site) but Labview keeps setting it back to 50, also after rebooting. How can I get this to a higher value?

    Hi,
    Take a look at this document:
    http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/websearch/FCA602CDBC4EDCEA86256BB1005AB1F2?OpenDocument
    This limit is no longer a issue in NI-IMAQ 3.0.1, (except for the NI-1408)

  • Max number of simultaneous connections?

    Hi everyone!
    how is possible to determine in advance the max number of simultaneous connection for my FMS?
    thanks!

    Hi,
    Like Jay had mentioned the limitation on the number of connection to server depends on the capability of your server.
    You can get the maximum number of connections made to the server, number of active clients... etc details through Administration APIs.
    'getServerStats' gives you the "total_connects", which is the maximum number of connections made to the server. "connected" property will return the number of active clients to your server at one point. It also has many more statistics for your reference. This api returns the overall information of the server. If you want to get the details for specific vhost, you can use getVHostStats or getActiveVHostStats. To get more details on Administration API, refer your pdf documentation on "Administration API", that gets installed in your system under "$Root\Flash Media Server\documentation\flashmediaserver_3.5_administrationAPI.pdf".
