show columns for table one
counts in v$open_cursor for the sid shows
select count(*) from v$pwfile_users where username = :OWNER 3
select sum(cnt) privs from (select count(*) cnt from user_ta 3
click the statistics tab
counts go to 6, no suprise here
click on the column tab
the counts go to 9
click the statistics tab
the counts go to 12
and on and on until the error is produced.

  • ORA-01722 when opening a package in SQL Developer 1.2 with oracle 9iR1

    Hi,
    I use SQL Developer with Oracle Database 9i release 1.
    When I open a package in SQL Developer 1.2 (or 1.5) for editing, I receive the error ORA-01722. The package successfully opens but this message, which pops everytime, is really annoying.
    I monitored the requests sent by SQL Developer and it seems that the following request is responsible of the error :
    SELECT LINE,POSITION,TEXT,ATTRIBUTE FROM USER_ERRORS WHERE TYPE=:1AND NAME=:2
    Notice there are no spaces between ':1' and 'AND'. When executing 'by hand' the request with SQL Developer, it asks for the value of '1AND' bind variable and the value of '2'. Then, it fails to execute with... ORA-01722.
    Is it possible to avoid this bug ?
    Thank you for your help.

    HOW TO OPEN MULTIPLE TABLES IN SQL DEVELOPER SIMULTANEOUSLY

    Use the 'pin' on your table editor
    http://www.thatjeffsmith.com/archive/2011/11/sql-developer-quick-tip-pin-query-result-sets-and-plans/
    Then open your 2nd table. If you want to see both at the same time, right-click on the table editor tab and select 'New Editor Tab Group'
    Not a silly question, but no need to shout :)

  • MAX OPEN CURSORS

    When many requests to the INSERTXML of the Demo samples are processed, we experience the "Max Open Cursor" problem.
    We are running XSU 1.0.4.3 and Tomcat 3.2.2.
    Any Info would be appreciated.
    Many Thanks

    Hi Steve
    I've looked at a previous discussion
    'XSQL Servlet in a high-capacity environment'. Is this bug been fix when using processToXML? I've tried specifying a stylesheet using the XSQLStylesheetProcessor. It seems to run much longer and then the Web Server hangs. Any new connections to the Web Server abd Database does not seem to clear the connections, and then we run out of cursors.
    Any help will do!

  • Unable to donwload Oracle SQL Developer 2.1 Patch 1 - getting a 404

    Hi,
    I'm trying to download Oracle SQL Developer 2.1 Patch 1, but I'm getting a 404.
    Here is the page I'm downloading from:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/sql/index.html
    Here is the link to the zip file:
    http://download.oracle.com/otn/java/sqldeveloper/sqldeveloper-2.1.1.64.45-no-jre.zip
    Could anyone point me to a working link?

    I have just been to the site and downloaded the software. This is is always available and certainly not been down for 40 days, we track the daily downloads. You maybe restricted by a firewall setting on your side which does not permit you to download the software. There are occasions when there are issues, but generally if you try again in an hour they're resolved. We will not put the software on a rapid share site and for anyone else to do so would be violating licensing restrictions and is as such not legal.

  • File Open/Save Boxes of SQL- Developer

    I am not aware if these points are already discussed or on features list.
    1) I could not find how to set default directory where SQL Developer will go directly when I am opening new file.
    2. Also as far as I experienced SQL Developer does not remember the last path/directory I have opened file from.
    3. I don't know difference between File Menu -> open and right click in the worksheet and open.
    But the files opened via right click does not go to recently used file list in the file menu. Is this expected?
    4. When I export the data to file. there are two points.
         a) Last path is not remembered so I have to go to the path every time.
         b) SQL Developer comes with the name null.csv
         The practical problem I face is after I go to whatever path I need I give some file name. But if I don’t give the extension then no extension is there to the file it created. I think most will expect to have automatic extension. I don’t know if I am expecting too much.
    Regards
    Sanjeev

    Hi,
    1. Lots of Windows users who are craving for this, let's hope it gets into v1.1. Perhaps the default script directory (accepted for v1.1) can be used.
    2. They claim it does, however only for the same opened tab. Duh.
    3. Might be intentional, but I agree it should be added.
    4. a) Bummer, isn't it?
    b) I agree. Suppose it's like this because of the multi-platform capability.
    If you notice missing features or want to vote on other people's requests, there's the SQL Developer Exchange, at http://sqldeveloper.oracle.com .
    Have fun,

  • SQL file does not open in Mac with SQL Developer

    Hi,
    I have my .sql extension files in mac associated with SQL Developer, but when I open the file SQL Developer does not start; nothing happens.
    I checked all the associations and it seems correct.
    Any suggestion?

    Anyone???

    Hi Mike,
    I can provide solution if you can tell me the registry value(HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\sqlwb.sql.9.0\Shell\Open\Command). I believe there is an extra %1 which is causing this.

    Let me see if I can get my IT guys to temporarily grant me registry access.  As I said above, it's locked down, but maybe if I ask
    reeeeally nicely :-)  I will keep you posted.  Thanks!
    EDIT: The IT gods have smiled on me.  The value for the key above is "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Tools\Binn\VSShell\Common7\IDE\ssms.exe" /dde
    Not sure if that helps, but there you go.  Thanks!

    Hey Mike,
    Actually edit didnot trigger the email :)
    Change that to
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Tools\Binn\VSShell\Common7\IDE\ssms.exe" %1 /dde
    (add %1 and that should fix this forever)

  • NullPointerException when opening a script in SQL Developer 4.0.0.12

    I recently upgraded to SQL Developer v.4.0.0.12 64 bit, and am running into some issues.
    I am running this on 64 bit Windows 7. I have a 64 bit Oracle 11, and in addition have the 32 bit oracle client installed.
    I made an association between the .sql file extension and sqldeveloper64W.exe.
    However I frequently get a nullpointerexception when clicking on a script in the file explorer.
    It seems to occur mostly if I loaded scripts into SQL Developer before.
    If I close all the windows before closing SQL Developer and then click on a script in the file manager, things work (startup is arguably slower than v.3).
    But in most cases either nothing happens, or I get the NullPointerException below.
    What am I doing wrong?

    Wim

    Hi,
    Can you run SQL Developer like this:
    sqldeveloper -J-Dide.extension.log.to.console=true
    and see if you get any additional output on the console?
    There is a bug in the base IDE platform that can lead to this message when you have a broken extension in ide/extensions or sqldeveloper/extensions. The extra logging provided by the above switch should turn on diagnostics that will help identify which extension is causing the problem.
    FWIW, the base IDE problem has been fixed already, and the fix should be consumed by a future release of SQL Developer. The fix ensures that a single broken extension will not take down the whole product.
    Thanks,
    Brian

  • Oracle SQL Developer 1.2 Patch 1 (1.2.1.32.00) is Now available

    Hi,
    <p>I have just posted the announcement that the latest patch release for SQL Developer is now available. The updated Check for Updates should be available from 1pm PST (16 Aug). So if you are ahead of the game, please give this another hour.
    <p>The Check for Updates does an automatic restart of SQL Developer, but you still need to do a second restart or you will not see the SQL Worksheet.
    <p>Finally we have updated the Statement of Direction with the main themes we plan to address in the next release.
    <p>For all document and download links, please see the main SQL Developer page on OTN.

    Fixed the download link

    Sue,
    I get the following error when unzipping the archive:
    Extracting oracle.javacore.jar
    bad CRC bb93c0d4 (should be 1f5b6bb6)
    Warning: the size of the extracted file (7484702) does not match the uncompressed size (7484661) recorded in the zip file
    It's the Windows version including the JRE.
    Although probably my download went wrong I'd suggest to double check the ZIP-file on your server.
    Best regards,

  • SQL Developer 1.1 Patch 3 still does not work on 64-bit Windows

    There has been a long-standing problem with SQL Developer 1.1 not working on 64-bit versions of Windows. When sqldeveloper.exe is executed, a very unhelpful error dialog stating "The application failed to initialize properly (0xc00000018). Click on OK to terminate the application" is displayed.
    While there is a workaround that involves running the sqldeveloper.bat file in the \sqldeveloper\bin subdirectory, it is a bit inconvenient and requires the user to discover this workaround. Furthermore, SQL Developer 1.0 did not have this problem, so it is a bit puzzling as to why the problem was introduced with SQL Developer 1.1 and why it is still not fixed with the latest patch.

    I can confirm that we have a fix for this problem. I'm not sure when this fix will be available in SQL Developer.
    The bug was introduced in 1.1 due to optimizations in the way that the native Windows launcher works to better support products like SQL Developer.
    Thanks,
    Brian

  • Open cursor for dynamic sql

    Hi
    I am using oracle 8.1.7 on solaris.
    I have created
    SQL> CREATE OR REPLACE PACKAGE TEST_PKG AS
    2 TYPE row_cursor IS REF CURSOR RETURN TEMP_TAB%ROWTYPE;
    3 PROCEDURE Return_Columns_proc (c_return IN OUT row_cursor);
    4 END TEST_PKG;
    5 /
    Package created.
    now i am trying to create the procedure Return_Columns_proc by
    CREATE OR REPLACE PACKAGE BODY TEST_PKG AS
    PROCEDURE Return_Columns_proc (c_return IN OUT row_cursor) AS
    QUERY_STR VARCHAR2(850);
    x number ;
    BEGIN
    x:=1;
    QUERY_STR :='SELECT * FROM temp_tab where order_line_id = '||x;
    OPEN c_return FOR QUERY_STR;
    END Return_Columns_proc;
    END TEST_PKG;
    I am getting following error.
    SQL> show error
    Errors for PACKAGE BODY TEST_PKG:
    LINE/COL ERROR
    8/4 PL/SQL: Statement ignored
    8/9 PLS-00455: cursor 'C_RETURN' cannot be used in dynamic SQL OPEN
    statement
    any help for this error.

    The error says it all. You have defined a strong ref cursor and it cannot be used with dynamic sql. However, that does not mean you cannot use the query directly in the OPEN clause
    OPEN c_Return FOR SELECT * FROM temp_tab where order_line_id = X ;

  • Oracle SQL Developer 1,1 patch 1 nls_comp

    Hi,
    Does anyone know if the "nls_comp=ANSI" bug is fixed in patch 1? I have checked the bugs page, but it is not mentioned there. I am reluctant to download and try it out because the initial release crashed our development server.
    Thanks
    Mike

    According to Dan (Re: Default NLS_COMP = ANSI means slow access to Tables and Views and ... yes.
