Max Quantity of Records in ODS

Hi Gurus,
Today i went to a Client to check the BW Implementation, and i found out some "strange things", one of then is that exist ODS with 25 millon of records and increase 1 millone per week.
My question is : Which is the max quantity of record that and ODC can store?

For ODS tables, the maintenance of database storage parameters can be found in the ODS object maintenance, in the Extras menu.

Hi Experts,
In IS-Retail, in the sales view of the article master record there are two fields: Min Delivery Qty and Max Delivery Qty.
If anyone has had experience in using this field, I would appreciate if they can explain to me how these fields work.
I would like the system to provide a warning/error message if the order entry person enters a quantity on the sales order item that is less than the Min Qty or more than the Max Qty specified on the Article record.
I have tried to test this but I was not able to get the system to issue the warning/error message.
If someone could explain to me how these fields work, and how I could accomplish the min/max quantity restrictions that my client would like to enforce, I would greatly appreciate it.

how to find the number of records in ods?
Pls suggest the solution apart going to the table of ods and seeing the number of records.
Is there any program or function module to see the number of records in ods?
For eg: SAP_INFOCUBE_DESIGNS is a program which gives the detail (number of records) of infocube.

I was looking at this and found the following tables that may be of help.
One of these tables will include a summary of the record count of all the tables in your system based on the last time each table had it's database statistics calculated:
DBSTATTADA
DBSTATTDB2
DBSTATTDB4
DBSTATTDB6
DBSTATTINF
DBSTATTMSS
DBSTATTORA
We run on an Oracle database so the table record counts can be taken from DBSTATTORA. Type in AZ in table selection field in SE16 to restrict the output to ODS (or DSO) tables only.
The record count is at the time indicated in the timestamp field. Obviously this is not real time but should not be too out of date - if it is you may be having performance issues and should get your DBA / Basis to run a full refresh of DB stats.
Hope this helps, alhtough not real time the table should give you a decent indication of the size of all your ODS objects (or any other table for that matter!)

Error on activation of data records from ODS object

Kindly help with my BW Problem, the error occured on the
activation of ODS. The error says "Request
REQU_43MNOPW29W4F5M037J7OAFP52 in ODS ZPUR_O01 must have QM
status green before it is activated" and "Activation of data
records from ODS object ZPUR_O01 terminated"
I tried to check the data in the ODS Object by choosing
<LS>Administrator Workbench > data targets > context menu on ODS
Object ZPUR_O01 but the status are green and when i tried to
activate it the logs says "ODS object ZPUR_O01 was built
incorrectly. Cannot update request

1) delete the current request
2)Reconstruct the requests above three request
3)and then Load the current reqest (REQU_43MNOPW29W4F5M037J7OAFP52)
Then only u will be able to activate the ODS....
This is an serialization issue...

Hi Mani,
afaik, there is no way to change data in the ODS.
What you could try, if you load data into this ODS via PSA, is to from ODS the request that you need to modify, edit the request in PSA and load it into ODS again (from PSA - Update Immediately menu option).

You can use Maintaining Control Parameters for Data Transfer
parameter to control the maximum number of data records ... you determine the number of data Idocs after which an Info IDoc is to be sent
It also depends on the following.
Maximum size of the data package
When transferring data into BW, the individual data records are sent in packages of variable size. You can use this parameter to control how large such a data package typically is.
If no entry is maintained, the data with a standard setting of 10,000 k Byte per data package is transferred. However, the required memory depends on not only the data package size setting, but also the width of the transfer structure, the required memory of the affected extractor, and, for large data packages, the number of data records in the package.
Maximum no. of rows in a data package
With large data packages, the required memory depends a good deal on the number of data records that are transferred with this package. You can use this parameter to control the maximum number of data records the data package is to contain.
By default, the system transfers a maximum of 100,000 records per data package.
The maximum main memory demand per data package is approximately 2 X Max. Rows X 1000 bytes.
Frequency
By specifying a frequency, you determine the number of data Idocs after which an Info IDoc is to be sent. In other words, how many data IDocs are described by a single Info-IDoc.
By default, the frequency has been set to 1. This means that, in this case, an Info IDoc follows after each data IDoc. In general, you should choose a frequency between 5 and 10. If not, do not choose one above 20.
The larger the package size of a data IDoc, the smaller you should set the frequency. As a result, you should get information about the data load status during the data upload in relatively short spaces of time.
You can see in the BW Monitor from each info IDoc whether the load process was successful or not. The traffic light is green if this is the case for all data Idocs described by an InfoIDoc. Info Idocs contain information about whether or not the data Idocs were correctly uploaded.
Maximum number of parallel processes for the data transfer
An entry in this field is only required as of release 3.1I.
Enter a value greater than 0. The maximum no. of parallel processes has been set to 2 by default. The optimal choice of the parameter depends on the configuration of the application server you are using for the data transfer.

Max number of records in MDM workflow

Hi All
Need urgent recommendations.
We have a scenario where we need to launch a workflow upon import of records. The challenge is source file contains 80k records and its always a FULL load( on daily basis) in MDM. Do we have any limitation in MDM workflow for the max number of records? Will there be significant performance issues if we have a workflow with such huge number of records in MDM?
Please share your inputs.

Hi Ravi,
Yes it can cause performance overhead and you will also have to optimise MDIS parametrs for this.
Regarding WF i think normally it is 100 records per WF.I think you can set a particular threshold for records after which the WF will autolaunch.
It is difficult to say what optimum number of records should be fed in Max Records per WF so I would suggest having a test run of including 100/1000 records per WF.Import Manager guide say there are several performance implications of importing records in a WF,so it is better to try for different ranges.

As I am getting dump for more records and I need to control the report based on the max no of records that can be actually diplayed using contols.

Dear Kavya.
If you are getting Dump because you have too many records it means that there is something wrong with the program design.
ALV is not meant to display more than few thousands of records.
There is no point is displaying more than few thousands because it will over-flow the users and it will do no good for them.
If the problem is with the Internal-tables that you're using to manipulate the data, you can think of using an intermidiate DB table that will hold summarized data of the DB data and can be filled via a periodic job. This have the benfit of speeding up the ALV program too.

Internal Tables as Dynamic Data Objects
Internal tables are always completely specified regarding row type, key and access type. However, the number of lines is not fixed. Thus internal tables are dynamic data objects, since they can contain any number of lines of a particular type. The only restriction on the number of lines an internal table may contain are the limits of your system installation. The maximum memory that can be occupied by an internal table (including its internal administration) is 2 gigabytes. A more realistic figure is up to 500 megabytes. An additional restriction for hashed tables is that they may not contain more than 2 million entries. The line types of internal tables can be any ABAP data types - elementary, structured, or internal tables. The individual lines of an internal table are called table lines or table entries. Each component of a structured line is called a column in the internal table.

The quantity of Dia Work Process(DWP) of APP1 is: 16 (rdisp/wp_no_dia=16)
The quantity of Dia Work Process(DWP) of APP2 is: 16 (rdisp/wp_no_dia=16)
The quantity of Dia Work Process(DWP) of APP3 is: 20 (rdisp/wp_no_dia=20)
The quantity of Dia Work Process(DWP) of APP4 is: 20 (rdisp/wp_no_dia=20)
So the quantity of DWP in our SAP system is: 72 (=161620+20).
We have 75 dialog users and many RFC callings via JCO method from J2EE system.
I'm afriad the 72 DWPs will be run out of use someday.
So I want to moniter the max quantity of used DWP every per hour to prevent the situation I mentioned above.
Could you give me some suggestions?

As the method you told me, I have some questions:
(a3) Do you restart your 'CI + 6 DIA' separately every week? Why did you do that?
(a4) How to calculate 'CPU intensive time'? For example, App server 'APS' was restarted on 8-10-2011 and stopped on 8-20-2011.
There was a DWP(PID 557550) was created and activated on APS during this period(10 days). So If I add up each 'cpu time' of the task
which 557550 executed, I can get the 'CPU intensive time' of 557550 (dispalyed in SM50). Right?
    In other words:
       DWP(PID 557550) finished task1: cpu time = 5ms 8-10-2011
       DWP(PID 557550) finished task2: cpu time = 4ms
       DWP(PID 557550) finished task3: cpu time = 6ms 8-20-2011
     So the 'CPU intensive time'(Between 8-10-2011 and 8-20-2011) of DWP(PID 557550) is: 15ms (5ms4ms6ms). Right?
(a5)Can we moniter the 'CPU intensive time' of DWPs in CCMS automatically? (I want to prevent the situation: The DWPs in our entire ECC are occupied.)

I can't think of any business situation where the requirement makes sense.
Your users should know what quantity they should enter or have be disciplined for sabotage!!
Validations are useful to avoid mistakes, but is that really a mistake?
IMHO you should first challenge the requirement to check if makes sense.

There is any restriction on max quantity of queues?

Hi, i work in a large gps tracking company.
We are rebuilding our software and looking into msmq to storage the coordinates to be processed.
The problem is, each tracker unit need to be isolated in on queue and we have 500k+ trackers online, so, we need tons of queues.
Im worried about performance.
Does msmq has any restriction on max quantity of queues?
How much memory each queue consume when they are idle and when have connections? (beanstalk +/- 300bytes, rabbitmq 30kb,...)
There is any way to use msmq in cluster?
Didnt found anything on msdn about this.

By default value is 4MB for each queue and 1GB for the entire queue. The queue quota can be changed using MQSetQueueProperties()
with PropId PROPID_Q_QUOTA

could you please tell me procedure how can i solve this issue?

- First check the Error Messages from the context menu of the activation step. Also check ST22 & SM21. This will tell you where the error is. Sometimes you might get duplicate records.
- Next use the "Manage" context menu for the ODS in RSA1. Check if any of the previous records are red. If its red, it would mean that either load/activation has failed for previous request which needs to be corrected first b4 you correct the current one.
- If al the above are OK, simply repeat the Activation step.

While activating ODS request I am getting following error
"Activation of data records from ODS object KFI02O50 terminated ".
data load is suceesful for ODS but during activation of the request it is giving error.
I tried to change the status to green manually & then activated the request but still same problem.
Also I tried to delete request & loaded again from PSA & then activated the request but still same problem
If anybody has some solution please let me know.

Hi Sonal,
Sometimes when there is erroeneous records that time while activating the Request request get fails.To check this go to manage tab of the ODS there under log u can see the log icon click on that and check y activation got failed..
