Max resolution for 30inch display from a MacBook Pro

Hi - what's the max resolution I can drive a 30 inch cinema dsplay from a 15 inch MacBook Pro?
Thanks
Ian

The MacBook Pro has a dual-link DVI port. From
<http://www.apple.com/macbookpro/specs.html>
"Dual display and video mirroring: Simultaneously supports full native resolution on the built-in display and up to 2560 by 1600 pixels on an external display, both at millions of colours."

I feel like I should know the answer to this. I can't believe it is a hard question.
What is the direct connect method for transfering photos from my macbook pro to my iphone without using iTunes syncronization? (iow: a simple photo copy from mac to iphone?)
    Easy? Right?
Just plug my iphone in to a mac and copy a photo from the mac to my iphone.
I don't have internet access - I can't email it, or mobileme it, or dropbox it.

iTunes. Other than that there is no direct method. However, do try the iPhone forums.

  • Extending my desktop across 2 (DVI) displays from 15" MacBook Pro Retina

Hi. I bought a new 15" MacBook Pro Retina a few days ago and am trying to connect 2 Dell displays with a view to extending my desktop across them both. At the Apple shop I was told I simply needed to buy 2 Thunderbolt to DVI converters (my 2 displays both have DVI out) and hook them up... Not true. If I try this my desktop only extended across 1 display. The other display isn't even picked up by my MacBook Pro.
So does anyone out there know how I connect 2 DVI displays to my MacBook Pro without buying a Matrox Dual Link? If I bought an HDMI to DVI converter cable and connected one display via the HDMI port, and the other display via the thunderbolt port, would this work?

May not be an upgrade issue ..
You have a fast processor. and 8GB of RAM is more than sufficient.  (The processor cannot be replaced)
Click your Apple menu  top left in your screen. From the drop down menu click About This Mac > More Info > Storage
Make sure there's at least 15% free disk space. Less can slow the system down.
If your Mac seems to running slower, try the suggestions here > Mac troubleshooting: What to do when your computer is too slow | Macworld
If you have not done so, especially with school files stored on the hard drive, make sure to back up your important data on a timely basis.  Help here >  Mac Basics: Time Machine
Not a good idea to post the serial number of your Mac on the net. I have asked the moderators to edit that information for you. It has nothing to do with upgrading.

  • What is the max resolution for external monitors from the intel hd 4000 graphics driver

What is the max resolution supported by the intel hd 4000 graphics driver found on the 13in MacBook Pro for EXTERNAL monitors?

OK so after doing much research... this seems to be the best workflow.
Bring HDV in to FCP as ProRes 422.
Edit show... add bells and whistles, etc.
    Export movie as ProRes 422.
Then for the client - ensure that they have latest version of Quicktime and download the Apple ProRes Quicktime Decoder (for mac or Windows). (It is assumed they have a decent computer to play back on.)
The client will then be able to play a movie encoded as proRes 422 and all will be happy.
As a back up a high resolution h264 file can't hurt.
Thanks for everyones input. We got there in the end.

  • It is possible to change the display from a macbook pro

I have a late 2011 macbook pro 15", it is possible to do an update to the display? Like change it for one with more resolution.

Yes, there is a company that switches apple computer displays.  The one I have heard a lot about removes your screen, and puts on a touch screen display.  It essentially turns it into a mac version of the windows computers that have a screen that flips around and lays flat for easy writing.  I cannot remember the name of the company but I will look around for it.  Just search around on google.  But to be honest it is probabaly cheaper to buy a new mac then to have the display swtiched.  If I remeber correctly its about $1000.  I will keep you updated!

  • Running two Apple displays from one Macbook Pro?

I have two Apple displays with mini-display ports.  I have ONE Macbook Pro with ONE mini-display port.  Problem.
I purchased this USB 2.0 to DVI Display Adapter from Monoprice but still can't figure out how to get my mini-display ports to work with this.
Is this even the right product?

You can use another DVI, VGA, or even HDMI display for far cheaper with this adapter, US$60 plus shipping:

Warning: Results may be unacceptably laggy.
But a converter to Mini DisplayPort is quite expensive, US$150 plus shipping:

  • How to use airplay for Apple TV from a MacBook Pro?

    Help!

Try changing your energy saver settings.   Make sure the macbook is plugged in and change both display and computer sleep to never.  When your display goes to sleep airplay will shut off.  I don't watch a lot of tv on airplay from my mac, but this works for when I'm streaming radio or music.  I suggest getting a cheap iPod touch (with airplay) on craigslist if you don't have an iPhone.  I've seen them as low as $30.  Then get the Air Video app ($3) and the Remote app (free).  These two apps take care of all of my tv/movie watching needs.
If your appleTV is too far from your wireless router then you will have trouble using any of these features.  Try purchasing an extra long (100') cat5 cable from monoprice.com and moving your router to a more central area of your house.  You can even put a second router in your home using this cat5 and get great internet connection everywhere!

you are talking about the FHD on the T510, this is slightly different to what the OP is asking.

  • HT3382 Connect from a MacBook Pro's mini display port to a Display Port monitor?

    Hello everyone,
Is it possible to connect from a MacBook Pro's mini display port to a Display Port monitor with resolutions higher than 1920 x 1200? It seems Apple does not supply a mini-DP to DP adapter.
However, just as they do not make a mini-DP to HDMI adapter, but they do recommend a Belkin product for this purpose.
Is there any reason that a mini-DP to DP adapter or cable wouldn't work and support high resolutions?
    Thanks for your feedback!

    Hey tjk,
    Thanks for the response.
Do you have any recommendations for a potential set up? The audio output and Apple DVI are on different sides of my MBP, which is alright, I guess I can get two long cables to handle each. I was hoping to just have my MBP closer to where I use it, with a cord nearby plugged in on one side to the HDTV and resting near where I keep my MBP for when I want to use the HDTV as an external monitor.
With a converter like this, you can run video out of the MBP's DVI port, and miniToslink (optical) audio out of the 3.5mm stereo mini jack to the converter, then it will combine the two and output audio and video through HDMI to the monitor.
    http://www.supermediastore.com/product/u/apogee-dvi-to-hdmi-converter-spdif-opti cal-toslink-coaxial-input-output?utm_source=cj&utm_medium=aff&utm_content=HDMI+A ccessories
Otherwise, depending on the TV's inputs, for video you could run DVI to DVI on the TV, or DVI to HDMI to the TV. For audio you could run 3.5mm stereo mini plug from the MBP to RCA adapter on the TV. Toslink/optical is also an option.

  • About screen resolution for large displays

    Can someone PLEASE tell me:
Is it possible to set the second display for your 15" Macbook Pro to higher than 1490x900 (somehow even if it's with third party software), up to for example 1920x1200 to utilise the new LED Cinema Display properly, or do you just run a blown up 1440x900?
This question applies to the new AND old Macbook Pros please...
    Thanks

Hi pjmpjm: I run an external 20" from my MacBook Pro, it quite easily runs at it's native resolution of 1680X1050. When operating in extended desktop mode it will adapt to the native resolution of the external monitor.
    Hope this helps

  • T400s max resolution for external monitor ?

    Hello
What is the max resolution for an external monitor connected to a thinkpad t400s  ? The reason i am asking is that:
    a) Intel says:  the max resolution of Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD is 2048x1536
    b) Lenovo says:  DisplayPort + D-sub dual-display output support 2560×1600 maximum resolution
What are your experiences and what maximum resolutions on external monitors have you succesfuly tried in real life ?
Would it be possible to connect a 30" monitor at 2560x1600  to a thinkpad t400s ?

i don't know and i never tried but i'm inclined to trust intel more than lenovo on this...unless the t400s has some beefed-up x4500mhd

When I unplug Apple headphones from my MacBook Pro sond from internal speakers not work, and system soud preferences displayed: Output: optical digital out port only

If you see a red light in the audio output port, then the internal switch is stuck.  Insert the earphone plug a few times and see if you can trip the switch.  If that fails, insert a cocktail stirrer and the like and jiggle it around inside.  If that fails, take it to an Apple store and have the technicians at the genius bar do it for you.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
You can install the new hard disk yourself if you want to. You just need a 2'5" SATA II hard drive, which is compatible with your MacBook Pro. You can buy one at OWC > http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/hard-drives/2.5-Notebook/ You can filter hard drives by computer, so press a "Click to view all...", choose your computer in the sidebar and it will give you the compatible hard drives.
There are different brands for the MacBook Pro. The most recommended are HGST and Seagate, which have good reputation. A 7200 rpm hard drive will give you extra performance
