Max resolution Mac mini 1660x1050???

I'm using my mac mini through logmein remote desktop with a windows laptop with a 1920x1200 display.
I want to get this resolution on the mac mini also but it let me get not higher as 1680x1050.
Is this the max resolution the mac mini can get?
I have tried different utility's like switchresx and newscreen but none of them getting it at 1920x1200.
Have anybody have a 1920x1200 monitor connected on the mac mini? or have a solution?

I think is not limitation of logmein because between to xp laptops i can change the resolution to the max.
I only have a monitor with 1650x1050 support, but my xp laptop does support 1920x1200 and don't want an extra monitor on my desk and sometimes and work an the mac on a different location.
Perhaps the is remembering the last connected monitor which is 1680x1050?
I have also also laptop with hackintosh osx86 installed and that laptop has also an 1920x1200 display and i can connect through logmein at 1920x1200.
so why the mac mini does not???

  • Best Resolution Mac Mini - Plasma Hookup?

    Hi there.
I have a 42" LG 42PX3DCV Plasma Television, which is ED, rather than HD. Right now, when I hook a computer up to it, I use my Macbook Pro, a DVI->HDMI cable, and a MiniToslink->Toslink cable.
    It looks great!
I now have a Mac Mini Core Duo as a permanent addition to the Plasma, and I'm wondering if I should instead hook it up via the RGB 15-Pin option that is located on the back of the Plasma.
Will this give the same results as the DVI-HDMI?
    Thanks!

While I would suspect the HDMI to work better the only way you're going to know is to try it.

  • What is the maximum resolution Mac mini can support?

    does it support 4k display?
    Intel HD Graphics 4000

    External Resolution
Up to 2560 by 1600 (Thunderbolt) or 1920 by 1200 (HDMI), so, no, it does not support 4k displays.

  • Mac Mini Max Resolution?;CRT

I just bought a Mac mini and am looking to buy a CRT. What are the max resolutions the mini can support? (VGA analog, not DVI digital)
And, if the mini's supported refresh rate for a given size is say 100Hz and the CRT is only 70 Hz, will it still work?

For DVI it'll go up to 1920x1200. For VGA, probably higher, though I doubt it really matters at that point. For the refresh rate, you can lower it on the Mac, so it shouldn't be a problem.

  • Top spec mac Mini as a workstation?

    Hi,
My studio needs to replace two old G5's and i would like to know how a couple of maxed out mac Minis would perform. I'm thinking of these owing to the massive price of two Mac Pros and also because we already have monitors. The spec i am thinking of is 2.66ghz, 500gb and 8gb ram. We can't have iMacs as due to already having screens and our designers don't like the glossy screens. Also what would we need to run two monitors of each Mac mini? We would be using Photoshop, AVA (like Photoshop), printing large images to 24" printers, occasional illustrator work and general Office 2008 work.
Question is i can buy one Mac Pro now and wait till, next year for the second but this would leave our studio a quarter Power PC and three quarters intel. All our other Macs are intel with the exception of the two G5's.
What is my best option and will the Minis be up to the task?

I think you would be more than happy with the minis. I really do.
I have been using a C2D 2.4 ghz macbook pro I bought in late 2007. It replaced my 2.66 Mac Pro back at the time. I run the full Creative Suite CS4 on this. There has really never been a moment that I wished it had more power.
I recently bought a new mini, put 4 gigs of ram in it and have been using it as a music workstation. Same 2.4 processor, but some slightly newer bits inside (but actually, a slower 5400 drive than my macbook pro). It feels very fast.
Now, 2 weeks ago I bought a dual 2.3ghz G5 tower from a local source. Got a deal. I bought it to use for my music workstation, and was going to move the new mini somewhere else.
However, as powerful as a dual G5 was, when I opened the same Logic Audio songs on the Mini and G5, the mini used WAY less cpu meters than the G5. It wasn't even close. It really blew me away. The C2D 2.4ghz may not be the current state of the art, but seriously, with 8 gigs of ram and a proper 7200 RPM internal drive, it will run circles around the G5.
For $1K (700 for mini, $120 for 8 gigs ram at OWC, and if your brave, $100 for a 7200 internal) you will have a very capable machine for what you do.
If you can buy a few years with them, then sell them you'll be ahead of the game. The resell on mini's is extremely high, even older G4 minis get a few hundred bucks.
So, I'm with you 100%. I would love another MacPro. But after ram, tax, etc, $3K for a low end one new is crazy. Refurbs are great, but they aren't that much cheaper.
Grab two mini's, load them up, and run.
Oh, I'm totally with you on the iMacs. Perfect compromise on cost/performance, but no way am I going back to a glossy screen like that. Just not going to happen.

  • 2012 Mac Mini

Anyone had any experience with the new 2012 version of the Mac Mini running CS5/6 and/or Lightroom 4?  I am considering switching from a Windows 7 system to OS X and the price of the maxed out Mac Mini looks better to me than the 27" IMac.  I have two good monitors so I don't feel as though I need the display on the IMac.  I'm a little worried about the integrated graphics processor on the new Mac Mini and whether it will cause any issues with lightroom or photoshop.
    Any thoughts or experience?

The Mac Mini is a great little computer, but it is in no way designed as a graphics workstation. You could probably get CS5 to work on it, but with the changes in CS6 it's doubtful that it would be practical; CS6 demands much more from the Graphics Processor than previous versions, and as Lundberg and Station have said, only having the Intel Integrated Graphics Processor to work with is going to be painful.
For Photoshop work my recommendations on the Mac platform would be the MacBook Pro, MacBook Pro Retina, the iMacs, especially the new 27", or the Mac Pro Tower.
    A few things to note...
The new iMacs are going to be in short supply, probably into the New Year.
The 21" iMac does NOT have user installable RAM, and maxes out at 16GB, plus it can only go to a maximum of a 1TB HD, whether traditional spinner or "Fusion." (Scroll down the page here for details of the Fusion Drive.)
The 27" iMac DOES have user installable RAM plus will go up to 32GB, and you can have either 1TB or 3TB of internal storage, either traditional spinner or "Fusion."
If you're considering a Mac Pro Tower, wait 'til next year, there'll be new processors, probably new system architecture, plus it should have Thunderbolt and USB3 connectivity.
    Good luck
    Paul

  • Display Turns Black and Won't Wake Up Unless I Power Cycle the Mac mini

Even when I disable all the power settings on my Mac mini, after a day or 2 at max my Mac mini's display will go black and stay that way. Whether I connect to it using VNC Screen Sharing, or connect a monitor directly to it, I can't get the screen back on unless I either power cycle the computer, or otherwise SSH into it via the terminal on my MacBook and force it to log off that way. Any suggestions? Does this sound like a hardware problem, setting, or software problem? I notice that it happens most frequently when the CPU is being worked intensively, like if I'm downloading a lot of files with Vuze or otherwise doing heavy video conversions with iSkysoft iMedia Converter. I heard that maybe the Mac mini is overheating, but it's not stacked and lately I've tried moving it to several different locations but still the problem persists. I also notice that usually when I SSH into it via the terminal while the problems occur that my CPU usage will be way lower than it should be, since it might have happened during the onset of a long/heavy video conversion process. I have a Core 2 Duo, 2.2 GHz Processor with 4 GB of RAM and about 140 GB of available storage. What do you all think I should do?

couple of things you should try:
boot up in _*safe mode*_, the restart normally
try _*resetting the System Management Controller SMC*_
try _*resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM*_
if none of the above makes any difference, run _*Apple Hardware Test*_ from the install DVD that came with your Mac to see if it reports hardware problems.

  • Mac Mini 2014 4k display 60Hz max resolution

    Hello,
I can read in the infos for the new iMac 2014 that is possible to use 2 x 27" Apple Displays over thunderbolt.
My question is, what is the max resolution what you can use with one Display.
Is it possible to use a  Mac Mini with a LG 34UC97  with a resolution 3.440 x 1.440 60Hz with thunderbolt.
The HDMI supports only 30 Hz.
    Thx
    Jayybird

you can be right, not officially, but for now:
"On a late 2013 13" MBP/Retina, using SwitchResX, I was able to get the ASUS PB287Q to drive 4K (1920x1060 pixel-doubled "HiDPI") at 45Hz, rather than the max 30Hz offered through the standard Display Prefs pane.
Here's how: I created a custom resolution by copying the 1920x1060 HiDPI 30Hz, and then set its vertical sync to 45Hz (and rebooted as required by SwitchResX). The 45Hz refresh rate is now available in the Display Prefs control panel, and the ASUS OSD confirms we are operating at 45Hz.
Before getting 45 to work, I also tried 50 - but even after reboot it was marked as "invalid" so I suppose I'm maxed out.
45Hz isn't 60, but it is much better than 30."

  • Mac Mini max resolutions for 2 screens?

Hi all. I have the latest Mac Mini and I'm currently running a Samsung 24" at 1920x1080 from the Mini Displayport socket via a DVI adaptor, and also a second display at 1280x1024 from the HDMI socket via DVI adaptor.
I'm looking to upgrade the Samsung to a screen that's 1920x1200 resolution - I'm assuming the Mini can handle this slight increase but I can't find specs anywhere for this. Would it even run a 2560x1600 screen alongside the 1280x1024 one?
    Many thanks in advance.

The > Mac mini (Late 2012) - Technical Specifications doesn't clearly state what the maximum resolution for each output is.
Funny part is, that the Spec's for the previous Mac Mini 2010 and 2011 models does.
One would think that they are the same? Unfortunately that would be pure speculation and contrary to the ASC Terms of Use.
On that note: Your best bet might be to > Contact Apple Support and get some clarification.

  • Max resolution with mac mini and two 27" thunderbolt displays

What is the maximum resolution I can get on each monitor when connecting two 27" thunderbolt displays to a mac mini?

According to the copy&paste from wikipedia, HDMI should support higher resolution than 1920x1200. So the question is, does it aupport that on the mid 2011 mac mini. It says in the specifications
"Mac mini is designed to work with HDMI devices that comply with versions 1.0, 1.1, 1.2, 1.2a, 1.3, 1.3a, and 1.4 of the HDMI specification."
That should mean it should be able to support it, but I don't know : <

  • Mac Mini Mid 2011 problem getting 2560 resolution

I've been told that Mac Mini 2011 would support 2560 resolution however I cant get it to work.
Here is background story.. i used to run this MacMini on a cheap 26" acer using apple Minidisplay adapter to dvi input to Acer.
I ended up buying two 4K Samsung U28D590D in hopes this would be a plug an play affair as Samsung comes with display port and i can simply run a display port to mini display cable. This ended up being true for my wife's macbook Pro (about 6 months old) connected it and runs 2560 no problem, picture is perfect!
Using the same concept and cable on MacMini does not work at all, monitor does not display any picture. If i use HDMI to HDMI ill get 1920.
I also have an additional monitor "Shimian" that is a DVI-D monitor supporting 2560 which i ran on a PC using Geforce GT 610 and ran 2560 no problem. When using Minidisplay adapter to dvi same problem, it does not work at all. (unless apple sells different adapter minidisplay to DVI or DVI-D?)
i'm trying to figure out if this is a hardware problem on Macmini that does not allow this resolution to be supported?
Any help is greatly appreciated!! Here are system specs on MacMini(running upgraded ssd) and Macbook pro.

  • Resolution of Samsung T220 monitor with Mac Mini (or any Mac)

I'm looking at a Samsung T220 or T220HD paired with a Mac Mini, or more probably new Mac Mini to be announced in Jan, 2009. The maximum resolution for the T220 is 1680 x 1050. The Samsung manual states that the T220 usually supports all Macs, but to check the "Preset Timing Modes" to ensure Mac is supporte for this model.
When checking the T220 user manual, the "Preset Timing Modes" section indicates only the following resolutions when connecting to a Mac:
    MAC, 640 x 480
    MAC, 832 x 624
    MAC, 1152 x 870
Does this mean Mac owners can never get the maximum 1680 x 1050 resolution out of this and similar Samsung monitors, only 1152 x 870? If so, what's the point of investing in a good quality monitor that gives Macs only mediocre resolutions?
Any Mac owners getting 1680 x 1050 out of their Samsung T220 or T220HD?

    Hi there
I just got a new Mac Mini and a 32 inch Samsung LCD 450 series. I am not sure of max resolution but I know it's a 720p set. I have been impressed with the plug and play set up via a VGA cable. But, I can not seem to figure out how to get the max resolution set up either.
The Mac display preferences only give me choices for standard monitor sizes that are not proportional to the Samsung screen, I have tired both 800 x 600 and the 1024 x 768 I have mixed and matched this with changing the picture proportions on the TV (16:9 vs 4:3). Things either seem stretched or overly square.
Am I missing something here, Is there somewhere else I should be looking for settings to tweak?
Any help or steering toward other resources would be most welcome.
    Thanks, Josh
