Max "viewing" size for photos?

I did some searches here but didn't seem to find what I needed.
Question: When a viewer clicks on a thumbnail to see the larger pic, can I change the "viewing size" (not the download size) to a larger dimension?....say..850 wide for landscape.
Thanks in advance for any help

If you want to show off your images in a bigger size you could forget about the Photo template and load your thumbs onto a blank page. Make each one a link to a new page where you can put the enlargement as big as you want. You could probably increase the page width to at least 1200 px without it running off the average screen.
To stop your navigation menu getting out of hand you would exclude all these "enlargement" pages from the navigation in the "page" inspector and provide a "back" button to return to the thumbs.

About CLOB size, it's 4Go not 4000 characters - VARCHAR2 supports up to 4000 bytes. Pay attention also to unicode encoding!
Are you using CFQUERYPARAM to insert into the CLOB fields ?
         <CFQUERYPARAM CFSQLTYPE="CF_SQL_CLOB" VALUE="    ">

  • Ideal file size for photos

If I am making photo albums in iWeb, what is the ideal file size for the photo file?
My camera now is 7 megapixel, so the original file sizes are about 3 MB, obviously that'll be very slow to load.
To what file size should I save it to make it load at a reasonable speed and still have a reasonable quality? 500 KB? 200 KB?
In case this is a factor, the typical album I make would have about 40 - 50 photos.
Also, what are the best ways to batch converts -- making a group of photos 500 KB instead of 3 MB? I know a few time-consuming ways (ie. individually resaving the files) or using a thumbnail-making program (have used a program called Thumbs Up).
    Any other suggestions? Thanks.

If you are importing your photos directly from iPhoto to iWeb, they will be scaled down to a max dimension of 800x600. If you are using a photo template page or making a gallery page using the following method...
    http://www.mac.com/web/en/Blog/013C4180-4787-4847-BAAB-319222AFC652.html
...iWeb will also make your thumbnails for you automatically.
For all your other freeform pages that you might make, it is always a good idea to size your photos down to their usage size. A good rule of thumb is to consider the width of your page, which by default is 700px. Then divide it out by how many photos across you expect to have roughly. So 3 photos across 700 pixels means that the photos should be scaled to roughly 233 pixels wide maximum. Just a rough approximation is fine.
The reason I recommend doing this is that if you drop in a 2500 pixel wide image into iWeb directly, and you only plan on using it as a 233 pixel wide image on the page... iWeb will do a fine job of scaling the photo down to size BUT it will also save the full resolution photo as part of your web page....not to use, but just for safe keeping. And if you ever discover the RSS feed on your website, you will see that iWeb makes all of these high resolution photos available for download, too! So beware if you value your original work! Don't feed them directly to iWeb.

  • What's the best size for photos?

What's the optimum image size for the iPod Nano? I'd like to transfer images as small as possible.

I believe if you are only transferring the images and not the full-resolution photos, iTunes does the optimization for viewing so the pics will be small. You have a choice within the iTunes preferences.

  • How can I set export size for photo's ?

In iphoto I used to name and size each photo for export - can't find this feature in photos.app, hope there is a way of doing it still ?

    Hallo -
select the picture and then export. Besides the file type ( jpg ) there is a small arrow downwards. If you click, then you may choose the size and quality as before.

  • Max hdd size for ms-6140 ??

anyone out there know the maximum size that the ms-6140 motherboard can handle?? its also called the 'micro ATX EX7' on some occasions.
ive searched alot and cant find anything...
bios has been flashed to most recent version, even though its only from 1998...
    thanks for any help!
oh and i dont have any hdds lying around to simply test the boards capabilities :(

thanks, i didnt really know what those extra jumpers on HDDs were for.
i borrowed a 40gb HDD off a friend and did as you said, the bios then auto-detected it as being about 33000MB in size.. would this be the maximum HDD size?
    you did mention that by its age, the max HDD size might be 32GB, so this all sounds like we've found the answer;
    have we?

  • Modify Max Message Size for particular users

I have been requested to permit a group of users (identified with email accounts) to receive emails up to 30 MB. I have check that I have to make modifications in the HAT.
I think the only solution should be to create new policies:
    Trusted-new
    Blocked-new
    Throttled-new
    Accepted-new
and in every policy permit a Max Message Size of 30MB. After that, every user should be able to receive 30 MB emails.
Is there a way to permit that only for a group of receiving users, without considering the sender?
I would be glad if anybody get me a clue, thanks!!
    Sergio

You would have to accept the message in the HAT and then use an Incoming Mail Policy to select recipient addresses. Add a content filter to that policy to select on size.
Since it sounds like only a few users should be able to recieve large messages you could use two policies.
    1) Large message recipient policy
    message size < 30mb, Action=DeliverNow
    2) Default policy
    If message > 10mb, Action=Bounce
You just can't bounce the messages right in the SMTP conversation is the only real limitation.

  • Max buffer size for HDS streams

How does OSMF (v2.0) compute the max buffer length for HDS streams (pre-recorded)?
I have  mediaPlayer.bufferTime = 5 seconds, but I see that even on very good b/w connections, the buffer length does not exceed 7.5 secs. Is there a way to increase the maximum buffer length value, so that clients on higher b/w can accumulate a larger buffer?
By comparison, for RTMP, the buffer length seems to go up to 60sec which is consistent with what the docs say here:
    http://livedocs.adobe.com/flashmediaserver/3.0/hpdocs/help.html?content=00000175.html
    Thx,
    - abey

No. Did not find a way to set the maxBuffer value, but I was able to workaround the problem by setting the mediaPlayer.bufferTime dynamically (i.e different values for various stages of playback, like loading, seeking, buffering, normal playback etc.)..So setting bufferTime to 60 secs during normal playback allows the buffer to grow to a decent size.

  • Calculating max image size for PNG inside an app?

This should be simple, considering that Apple has published a formula for the max image size that an iPad will display. Here are the details ...
I'm creating a "zoomable" image for use in an app. The PNG is fed into the app via an iframe. It's zoomable because the dimensions stated in the HTML are smaller than the real image dimensions. The person looking at the app uses the "finger spread" method to make the image expand. Sounds odd, but it works. Base image resolution is 264px for retina displays.
Yesterday I tried an image that was 2768 x 4221 pixels and the app simply refused to display it. When I changed it to 1000 x 1525 it displayed fine. Problem is, that should not have worked. Apple says the max pixels for an image on iPad cannot be more than "width x height = 3 x 1024 x 1024"  That base formula works out to 3,145,728 pixels. Using Apple's math, my image that displays fine has a total size of 4,575,000.
So I'm confused about how to calculate the correct max image size. Apple's formula looks pretty simple but I apparently broke their rule and got away with it. Help?

    Arggg.-
The multiplier "3" is only applied on the "1024 x 1024" side, not also on the side where the developer's image width and height are multiplied.

  • Max HD size for Pro 4600

I have a Satellite Pro 4600 with bios ver 2.6. Does anyone know what the max hd size is for this?

I am also looking for a 40 GB HD for a Satellite Pro 4600 currently fitted with a 10 GB HD.
So far, I have not been able to find any information on the Toshiba site on the maximum size of HD supported by the V2.6 BIOS.
Some after-market suppliers offer HD upgrades by a company called Addion, but no one seems to know exactly what the upgrade includes and if a modified BIOS or HD driver have to be installed in order for the full capacity of the HD to be used.
Has anyone else any experience with these or other HDs?
Will the Toshiba MK4032GAX 2.5" HDD work in a Satellite Pro 4600 without any problems or will only some of the capacity be useful?
Many thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

  • Unexpected reduction in file size for photos rotated on my camera.

    Hello,
This seems a bit weird and wondering if anyone has an idea on why this is happening.
I take my photo on my camera and then rotate it within the camera to the proper orinetation.
Import the photos into iphoto and automatically it places the origional 4MB file in the origionals folder and then in the modified folder it places a copy about 2MB in size.
If I control click I an revert the 2MB back to the full 4MB version, but wonder why is iPhoto doing this?
Thanks in advance for any help and assistance.
    Cheers,
    harley2g

    Harley:
You camera has an auto-rotate option that creates a tag telling other applications that the image needs to be rotated for proper viewing. iPhoto automatically reads that tag and creates a rotated version as saves it in its Modified folder. It's the same as any edit. If you look closely you'll find that after a short time iPhoto will recreate the rotated version.
One problem encountered with that is when you send the photo to another application from iPhoto and that application does not read the rotate tag it will appear back in the unrotated orientation.
The only way to avoid the modified file and get the file to be orientated correctly is to rotate it before you import into the library. If you turn off the auto-rotate in the camera and the rotate before importing into iPhoto all future applications of that image will appear correctly orientated.

  • Need help with adjusting size for photos in my website

Wow it's super to know about adobe forum which i never thought existed, i have been to the adobe site several times befor but never noticed there is a forum
Ok i have few issues would like some help if possible.
I have a website for public holidays and festivals and i have been really stressed in the ways i am adding the photos which i am buying from fotolia. First in my featured images the screen is very wide and slim...so i am really having hard time with adjusting the photos so they would fit in a way and show the best part of the photo in the screen, once the featured image is clicked on then their is no problem since it opens up in the full size. Is their a speacial tool in adope (i have cs4) which deals with images in this aspect? Secondly, before i was downloading the image with the regular size in which i bought them (around 3000 px) but that significantly slowed my webiste and i had to resize them into around 500 px, but now the image is small. what is the way around that, is there a feature where i can keep the photo big size with high resolution and little px. I see many big nice resolution photos but very small in size. i have just purchased a lot of photos that i would be posting soon and would like to do them right from the start.
I don't know if i explain the situation right in words but you can take a look here, most photos for the posts are on the main page, please take a look and tell me how i should revise or make better for my photos in the featured images.
I have very little experiance in photoshop so i made a very simple logo, but is there a tool that is speacialy designed to help make it easy doing a professional logo?
Any comments, hints or help would be highly appreciated
Hmmm one more thing....how do i add a pic for my profile? i don't see anywhere i can do so

You should use the crop tool to crop your images. You should never squish your images, it really looks unprofessional:
For your problem with saving images, you can optimize your images for web using the "Save for Web…" menu option:
Make sure that you save your images at the dimension that you want them to display on your website (It looks like all your images in the blog are 620px wide, go with that).
As for your logo, you can make them in Photoshop or Illustrator, but I would reccomend making yours in the latter. Here are some tutorials on logo creation: http://ibrandstudio.com/tutorials/46-adobe-illustrator-tutorials-logo-design

  • What is Max HDD size for MacBook Pro 15" bought in 2006-07

    Hi
    I bought a MacBook Pro 15" about 3.5 - 4 yrs ago. The model is A1211.
It came with 120GB HDD, 2GB RAM.
What is the maximum HDD size that this will support? The Apple store employee says, it will support only upto 160 GB. But, I am skeptical it would be that low.
So, was wondering if anybody knows the max size, and also, which HDD would be best. I want at least 320 GB.

You can get a 750 GB drive that is 9.5mm high. As far as I know, the 1 TB drives are all still 12.5 mm high, although that could change at any time.
The fastest 750 GB drive I know of is this one:
    http://www.seagate.com/www/en-us/products/laptops/laptop-hard-drives/
It is 7200 RPM. At 5400 RPM, there are many other choices. You might want to shop at Newegg, which often has specials on drives, as does Tiger Direct. Newegg also has reviews of individual drives you can look at.
Personally, I like Western Digital drives, and put the 500 GB Scorpio Black drive in my 2007 MBP, where it has performed without issue. The largest drive that originally shipped with my MBP was a 4200RPM 250 GB drive, the very biggest one you could order in a MBP back then.
Any 2.5 inch SATA drive should work just fine. The only one I would avoid is WD's 640 GB drive because a number of people have has issues with it in their Macs.
You might shop around on line a bit, and if you are torn between two or more drives, post back with what they are and ask for opinions. Everybody has favorite drives, so it may not be possible to get anything other than a bunch of opinions.
One other thing to watch out for. Some drives are sold with or without some form of free fall sensor. Apple has its own built in sensor called the Sudden Motion Sensor. In some machines and drives, there seems to be a conflict between the drive's sensor and Apple's SMS. If that happens, you would need to disable Apple's sensor. Usually it's easier just to select the drive without a built-in sensor and let Apple's SMS work as its designed to do. In the Seagate drive I linked, it's called "G-Force", but would have a different name in a different brand.
Incidentally, you can up your RAM to 3 GB if you like.
    Good luck!

  • Max HDD size for MS6167

Can anyone please guide what is the max size of HDD I can use with the old MS6167 motherboard.  I bios ver. 1.6.  This was the last issued by MSI.  Have at present 2 x 20Gb disks.  Wish to install 120Gb.  But wish to check before I buy the 120Gb disk if it will work with this old motherboard.
    Thanks
    gguk

On this old notebook model you can use HDDs with IDE connector only and, as Akuma already wrote, there is 128 GB limitation so I recommend you to buy 100GB IDE HDD and I think it will be OK for this old notebook model.
