MaxDB support for SAP XI 3.0 SP 18 (NW04)

Hi,
I need an advice.
We are using SAP XI 3.0 SP 18 (NW04) on MaxDB 7.5.0.046. Because of some issues with the database we are considering upgrading to 7.6. However, it is not clear if MaxDB 7.6 is supported for NW04.
service.sap.com/pam -> SAP NetWeaver -> SAP NetWeaver 04 suggests:
1. tab Database platforms
SAP KERNEL 6.40 64-BIT UNICODE  Maintained until 31.03.2013; MaxDB
supported database version: MaxDB 7.5 64-BIT
2. tab Process integration (PI/XI)
supported database version: MaxDB 7.6 64-BIT
QUESTION IS: which tab (1,2) should I trust regarding supported database version for XI?
Best Regards,
Piotr

Hi,
2. tab Process integration (PI/XI)
supported database version: MaxDB 7.6 64-BIT  <b>is correct</b> as ..
1. tab Database platforms
SAP KERNEL 6.40 64-BIT UNICODE Maintained until 31.03.2013; MaxDB
<b> is for application server ABAP</b>

  • Is HAGEO supported for SAP Systems?

Could anyone enlighten me as to whether HAGEO (or HACMP/XD) is supported for SAP systems? I have a client who wishes to use this and believes it is fully supported. However, I have been unable to find any references to SAP systems running on HAGEO software.
The IBM competence centre has not so far deigned to respond to my call.
Does anyone know if it is supported/recommended or actually in use for SAP installations anywhere?
This provides essentially HACMP over a much further distance than normal HACMP.
We have proposed a simple HACMP cluster with mirrored disk to a second datacentre to provide DR, however our client thinks it will be cheaper to just have two systems, one in each datacentre, and linked by HAGEO.
I have my doubts but have no evidence to the contrary currently.
    Thanks
    Andy

For completeness, the ISCC (i.e. IBM) said (basically) don't do it. Use standby databases.
What they actually said was that it was a very complex issue and perhaps we should get lots of IBM consulting in to answer this very difficult question.
But i took the first answer as the likely outcome - don't do HAGEO or HACMP/XD with SAP systems.
    Andy.

    Hello Venkatesh,
Please take a look to the following SAP note 1951805 - Adjusted Version Interoperability for Business Suite 7i2013.
It explains the version interoperability between the products and version on the Business Suite and the different SAP NW releases. In your case, both SAP BW 7.31 and SAP BW 7.02  will communicate without problem with your ERP system.
About the integration between SAP NW and BOBJ 4.1, take a look to this:
Best Practices for Integrating SAP BusinessObjects BI 4.x with SAP NetWeaver Business Warehouse (BW) and SAP ERP
    http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/507d3365-009b-3010-04b0-e5abc8f00c91?QuickLink=index&…
As far as I know it is possible to integrate SAP BW 7.02 with BOBJ 4.1.
    Best regards.

  • Does SSO2 provide SSO Support for SAP BOBI 4.x Applications?

I could not find any referrence in SAP BI BI 4.x documentation for SSO where this SSO2 would be mentioned!
    - Wobi

    Hi,
Does SSO2 provide SSO Support for SAP BOBI 4.x Applications?
BOBJ == SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence platform?
    SSO2 == SAP Single Sign-On?
If yes, BusinessObjects Business Intelligence platform delivers historically its own basis SSO based on Kerberos (but only for applications running on BOBJ platform). I recommend to use it if it fits to your requirements. If not, you can configure "Trusted Authentication". In this case BOBJ trusts the authentication of the web applications server. Here you can use SAP Single Sign-On with SAML or certificates.

  • Ora11 Support for SAP R/3 Enterprise 4.7 x110

    Dear Oracle People,
in the "Development Update December 2009" there is a u201CBig picture of supported Oracle releases" on p24.
In this picture it is described that SAP R/3 Enterprise 4.7 x110 will not be supported under Oracle 11.
But SAP R/3 Enterprise 4.7 x200 will be supported.
I do not see a substantial technical difference between these two releases. And i do net see why Extension Set 1.10 does not fulfil the requirements for Oracle 11 as described in upper paper on p12 which seem to be: having a 6.40 kernel and extended maintenance at least until 2010
Can you please explain me why 4.7x110 will not be supported under Oracle 11.
    Sincerely
    Stefan Dietz

    Hello Stefan,
You can crosscheck this with sapnote #1398634
Oracle 11.2 release for older SAP releases
A general release is not provided for earlier SAP releases (SAP R/3 3.1I up to and including SAP R/3 4.6C). Similar to Oracle Version 10.2, there will only be a temporary 11.2 release in direct connection with an SAP upgrade project for these older SAP versions.
Oracle 11.2 for SAP Kernel 6.40, 7.x  and higher
Oracle Version 11.2 will be released for these SAP kernel versions. In these kernel versions, basically only those SAP product versions that will still be at least part of SAP Extended Maintenance in 2010 will be released for Oracle 11.2.
    [UPDATE]
I have also checked the PAM for SAP R/3 ENTERPRISE 47X110 and the kernel 6.40 is also supported .. really strange

  • Dell Equallogic SAN HIT Kit support for SAP in Linux 11.2

    Hello Everyone,
I would like to use an Equallogic SAN as storage in SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11.2. Is the Equallogic SAN supported in Linux when using the HIT Kit to provide MPIO and snapshot support? The article from thorsten.staerk describes Equallogic SAN + Linux + native iSCSI (no mention of the HIT Kit). I understand that there are restrictions on using third party kernel modules.
My understanding is that the Equallogic MPIO driver will provide a faster, more efficient, connection to the SAN along with additional features.

EqualLogic Integration: Installation and Configuration of Host Integration Tools for Linux – HIT/Linux
The Dell EqualLogic HIT/Linux MPIO software consists of two components:
    1. The EqualLogic Host Connection Manager daemon, ehcmd, which monitors the iSCSI session state and the configuration of the Linux server and PS Series group. Running in the background, the ehcmd daemon uses the Open-iSCSI management tool (iscsiadm) to add, remove, or modify iSCSI sessions to maintain an optimal number of iSCSI sessions. It also gathers information on the volume layout from the PS Series group.
    2. A loadable kernel module, dm-switch, which implements a new Device Mapper target to the multipath devices. Based on the volume layout on the array members, the dm-switch module routes each I/O to the optimal path within the PS Series group.

The use of binary-only Linux kernel modules or drivers on the same server as SAP software is not recommended by SAP.

    Kevin

I'll take a moment to provide an update on the solution. There were some issues with the initial configuration of the in guest iSCSI volumes. If I had to start from scratch, I would run all the storage through VMware. The last round of software updates appears to have resolved a potentially serious issue with iSCSI disconnects. iSCSI has run perfectly for two months now. I'll consider the issue resolved once I have six months without any iSCSI issues.
One remaining issue is that LVM won't initialize properly without implementing a custom init script. The init script work-around is simple and it works.
    Configuration Overview:
    VMware ESXi v5.5
    Equallogic SAN (with v.7.0.3 firmware)

  • How to achieve vietnamese language support for SAP?

    Dear all,
It's easy to add languages which are natively supported by SAP like Japanese, French...
I wonder what are the things to do when we need language enablement for languages like vietnamese which are not yet supported by SAP.
    What we want to achieve.
When we logon, select VN as the logon key.
Then in the application, it show our language text instead of DE or EN.
    Thanks

    Hi
As you are aware the Vietnames is not supported by SAP,  You cannot install or customise it.  SAP will not guarantee the consistency of the data.

  • Is Solution Manager mandatory for getting support for SAP 4.7?

    Hi,
We received a letter from SAP regarding Solution Manager which stated:
"Commencing on April 2, 2007, SAP Solution Manager will be the only source from which customers receive maintenance updates for SAP NetWeaver 2004s and beyond, as well as applications based upon it (including mySAP™ Business Suite 2005 applications)."
We are still using SAP 4.7. We do not use Solution Manager. Does this statement mean that for getting any updates / support patches on 4.7, we will need to implement Solution Manager?
Can anybody clarify your understanding or SAP's stand on this?

  • RDBMS and LATFORM SUPPORT for SAP XI

    Hello!
I would like to know, whether the following RDBMS and PLATFORM SUPPORT-requirements (below) can be realized with SAP XI or not. I will be very thankful if someone can help me by answering of the following questions (if it is possible, Yes/No and with short explanation/comment)
    <b>RDBMS</b>
    a) database accept binary-large-objects (BLOBs) and  be referenced via the relational engine.
    b) standard pre-defined SQL queries and related calculations provided for use with industry standard reporting tools
    c) database monitoring tools be used to manage impending maintenance needs and potential problems and performance impacts (i.e., tool will monitor and detect prior to real problem occurring)
    <b>PLATFORM SUPPORT</b>
    a) Software supported on OS clustered servers  (If mutliple products, please indicate if all are support or list areas where clustering may not be recommended and why)
    b) software supported on HP-UX 11.i V2 (r6) on Itanium
    c) software supported on Windows 2003 sp1 (x64) on AMD Opteron
    Thank you!
    Regards
    A. Henke

    RDBMS
    a) database accept binary-large-objects (BLOBs) and be referenced via the relational engine. - Better not to include custom objects in the SAP Database. It should be possible.
    b) standard pre-defined SQL queries and related calculations provided for use with industry standard reporting tools, You can try,
    c) database monitoring tools be used to manage impending maintenance needs and potential problems and performance impacts (i.e., tool will monitor and detect prior to real problem occurring) - Many installations use some tool to do monitoring, but SAP standard transactions are sufficient for good monitoring. try to practice them
    PLATFORM SUPPORT
    a) Software supported on OS clustered servers (If mutliple products, please indicate if all are support or list areas where clustering may not be recommended and why) - I think SAP will not support Clusters(except windows cluster, with some support). Your OS/Hardware vendor should support it on SAP environment.
    b) software supported on HP-UX 11.i V2 (r6) on Itanium - Yes, i think
    c) software supported on Windows 2003 sp1 (x64) on AMD Opteron - Yes

  • Know more detail about the Remote Support Platform for SAP Business One ?

SAP Business One 9.1 is about to release this year and we can see in the feature enhancements that a significant update is planned in the Remote Support Platform for SAP Business One, more commonly known as RSP. Let’s have a quick look what update is planned for RSP in version 9.1:
Enhancements planned in Remote Support Platform for SAP Business One 9.1
RSP is planned to support both SAP Business One on Microsoft SQL Server as well as SAP Business One on HANA Database
RSP Processes and Reports adapted to SAP HANA Database
With this plan RSP will help in the areas of Download, Installation, Go-Live Check, Monitoring, Upgrade and Support for SAP Business One both   on SQL Server and HANA.
But like me (non-SAP B1 Consultant) many of you have the question what is RSP and how it helps in support? Here I have tried to gather all information.
What is Remote Support Platform for SAP Business One?
The remote support platform for SAP Business One is designed to protect a SAP Business One installation by providing automated and remote support in a high-volume business.
The platform monitors the entire SAP Business One environment. By significantly reducing the time between the appearance, identification, and resolution of issues, the remote support platform for SAP Business One minimizes the impact on customer databases and processes.
Some Key Features of Remote Support Platform:
Showing alerts to SAP B1 Admin about the events which require their attention, such as low disk space, database backups, etc.
Incident Reports against the issues identified which require attention of SAP Support
Company Database Backup and Restore options
Regular fixes of Company Database inconsistencies
Check, Download and Install regular updates in SAP Business One
Upload Logs and required files to SAP Support or to Partner Support on regular basis
Some details about RSP Backup Management
Schedule daily, weekly, and monthly backups
Perform differential and full database backups
    Back up transaction logs
Back up files to shared folders on a network
    System Status Report through RSP
From June 1st 2013, it will be mandatory to install, configure and upload the System Status Report (SSR) from Remote Support Platform (RSP) for SAP Business One in order to receive support for messages of a technical nature (upgrades, performance & crashes, etc).
    Database uploads only via RSP
From June 1st 2013 SAP Business One Support will only accept database uploads to SAP via remote support platform for SAP Business One. In certain exceptional circumstances STFP may be used but this will constitute a minority of cases.
    Microsoft Windows PowerShell Scripting
In the remote support platform studio, you can create tasks using Microsoft Windows PowerShell scripting. PowerShell enables you to perform remote administrative tasks on customers’ Microsoft Windows operating systems, by providing full access to Component Object Model (COM) and Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI).Some Network Prerequisite for RSP
To achieve the internet connection test, you must allow port 80 for the RSP external communication
Disabling antivirus firewall or add the RSP to the trusted zone of the antivirus
    Set the correct proxy
Disabling Windows firewall in the TP_link Wireless Configuration Utility

  • Until when give SAP support for version 7.30?

    Hello,
Until when give SAP support for version 7.30?
How is the update from SAP GUI 7.30 to 7.40 handle?

    Hello Herr Jürs,
As per the attached note http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/147519
    support ends in July
SAP GUI for Windows Support Deadlines
7.30: Full support up to July 15th, 2015. On July 15th, 2015 the used development environment Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 will transit to Microsoft's "Extended Maintenance" mode. This means that Microsoft will not create any corrections for components which belong to this development environment anymore (unless the issue is security relevant). Therefore no extension of full support for SAP GUI for Windows 7.30 beyond this date is possible.
