Hi there,
just search for  SAP NETWEAVER CE 7.1 in the PAM and you'll find this:
[PAM entry for SAP NETWEAVER CE7.1|https://service.sap.com/~form/handler?_APP=00200682500000001303&_EVENT=D_DETAILS&00200682500000003124=000186&00200682500000002804=01200615320900001418&00200682500000003818=PLTFRM]
Where you find that SAP NETWEAVER CE 7.1 is released for MaxDB 7.6 on Windows Server  2003.
The info-link refers to SAP Note [919224|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/oss_notes/sdn_oss_bc_db/~form/handler%7b5f4150503d3030323030363832353030303030303031393732265f4556454e543d444953504c4159265f4e4e554d3d393139323234%7d] in which you see that it is in fact released for Windows Server  2008 as well but only as of a certain base version (7.6.04).
Therefore: install the most current patch of MaxDB 7.6 and you're supported on Windows Server 2008.

  • Installation problem on windows server 2008 r2 datacenter edition 64bit

    hi
today, i tried to install the current maxdb 7.8 release on my virtual server with a windows server 2008 r2 datacenter 64bit edition os. at the first installation, i got an error message something with "rte runtime error". at this point, the installation stopped.
because of this error, i tried to uninstall the failed installation. this was not possible, in the uninstaller, i didn't see any components, so i can't uninstall.
so i tried to delete the files manually: the entries in the start menu, and the application's path under "program files"... first, i need to kill a process named "serv.exe", that creates a tcp daemon under port 7200... after killing it, the deletion of the dir in program files was successful.
this is very very weird, now my server is "contaminated" with an uncomplete uninstallation of maxdb...
why maxdb 7.8 has problems on windows server 2008 r2 datacenter 64bit edition???
    thanks for feedbacks!
    regards, jan

    > no, because i canceled this virtual server - another method to solve this problem. (i have really no time for things like that..!)
If you take the time to give exact error messages then someone will be certainly able to help
    > on windows server 2003, there are NO problems.
Windows 2003 != Windows 2008 - they use a different kernel, a different security system (UAC) and other features that may prevent a succesfull installation in the first place.
I installed a MaxDB 7.8 just today on Windows 2008 R2 and it worked fine.

  • Error Installing InDesign CS3 Server on Windows Server 2008 R2 64BIT

    Hello there-
I'm trying to install InDesign CS3 Server on Windows Server 2008 R2 64BIT (x64) Edition, however, we get a failure indication on the installer. Before, we have installed it properly on Windows Server 2008 R2 32BIT (x32) but some how we cannot proceed on a x64 box.
Is there any limitation on this sense? Any documentation about it?
    Thanks and appreciate your answers.

    Hello,
Have you followed these recommendations from the installation guide ( Installation Guide u2013 SAP Content Server on Windows 2008 ) :
Note: In the IIS 7.0/7.5, all the roles are not selected during the installation by default,
Please make sure all the below roles are included and IIS 7.0/7.5 is installed.

Note: There is a File Upload limitation in IIS 7 on Windows 2008 Server, IIS will reject any file that is
larger than 30 MB. This is a default limitation of IIS. You can increase the maximum file size by
setting the parameter maxAllowedContentLength in the file ApplicationHost.config.
The following command can be used to set the parameter from the command prompt, please
change the directory to Windows\System32\inetserv and then execute the command.
    appcmd setconfig /section:requestFiltering/requestLimits.maxAllowedContentLength:150000000
The value is only an example, in this case the upload limit is set to 150MB.Server has to be restarted
    after execution of this command.
Also, are you using Maxdb to store the files or is it a "flat files" content server  ?

  • Slow remote request on 7.6.03.15 on Windows server 2008

    Hello all,
I have install MAXDB on Windows server 2008.
When I made request from a remote computer on the database with SQLStudio requests are very slow.
For example I request an empty table :
SELECT * FROM <TABLENAME> the request seem fast.
but this one is very slow, I only replace * with all columns
SELECT  ArcState, Comp_date_time, ContFlag, Deferred, SndAccount, SndAddress, SndCompany, SndName, SndType, RcpAddress, Msn, Notif, OwnerID, OwnerPB, PreviewMessage, PreviewVisible, Priority, Purged, DIST_ABORTED, DIST_ABORTEDCOUNT, DIST_OWNER, DIST_NUM, DIST_VERSION, Status_str, State, Subject, Sub_date_time, SATID, RcpCompany, RcpName, Viewed  FROM <TABLENAME>
This request takes 0.3s, and the table is empty. Everything work find if sqlstudio is running on local computer even if I use XSERVER
How could you explain this behavior ?
To avoid DNS issues I put IP adress in ETC/host, I also disable Windows2008 firewall.
If you have any idea that could help me, let me know.
    Thanks for help.
    Yann.

    Hi Markus,
Here is the result of explain.
    ESKDBADM     DBM350_AC     AC_SUB_DATE_TIMED     INDEX SCAN              1
RESULT IS NOT COPIED , COSTVALUE IS              2
              QUERYREWRITE - APPLIED RULES:
                 DistinctPullUp              1
Keep in mind that the table is empty,
If I excute this request on remote computer.
SELECT ArcState, Comp_date_time, ContFlag, Deferred, SndAccount, SndAddress, SndCompany, SndName, SndType, RcpAddress, Msn, Notif, OwnerID, OwnerPB, PreviewMessage, PreviewVisible, Priority, Purged, DIST_ABORTED, DIST_ABORTEDCOUNT, DIST_OWNER, DIST_NUM, DIST_VERSION, Status_str, State, Subject, Sub_date_time, SATID, RcpCompany, RcpName, Viewed FROM DBM350_AC WHERE (((ArcState IS NULL  OR ArcState != 4) AND (PreviewMessage IS NULL  OR PreviewMessage = 0 OR PreviewVisible = 1))) ORDER BY Sub_date_time DESC WITH LOCK ISOLATION LEVEL 0
on an empty table, it always take 0,608s, I can type several time on F8, It always take 0,608s.
    You said
"To really compare those two statements - stop and start the database between them - and you will see that both of them take the same amount of time."
I agree with you if the second call is faster than the first call, because of datacache , but in my case it's always slow.
How to explain that a select on an empty table can take 0.608s ?
I think there is something wrong in Windows2008, but I don't kwon what.
    Yann.

  • Installation Support of SAP Kernel Products on Vista / Windows Server 2008

one of the major design goals of Vista and Microsoft Server 2008 is to harden the operating system against unauthorized attacks from viruses, trojan horses etc.
The most important change in Vista/Windows Server 2008 (formerly longhorn)  is: a process running under a user account which belongs to the local administrators group does not run with administrative priviledges as long the process is not elevated to the administrative level.
Elevation can be done by starting the process per Explorer using <b>Run As Administrator</b> or using special APIs, which are new in Vista. Programs started with <b>Run as Administrator</b> will not be able to start subprocesses elevated without additional changes (compared to Windows XP / Server 2003).
Security settings of many Windows system objects like Directories and Registry Hives etc are much more restrictive in Vista compared to Windows Server 2003 / XP. In some functions SAPinst tries to access registry keys and values for enumeration with full access which is no longer possible in Vista.
In other words: without code changes in SAPInst for Vista / Windows Server 2003 there will be no possibility to install a SAP System on these platforms.
If you do not have a SAP note stating the opposit or if you do not have a PAM (Product Availability Matrix) entry promising support for Vista / Windows Server 2008 the probability is about 99.9 percent (or even higher) that the installation will <b>not</b> run.
    regards
    Peter

    yes, that's true.
I know of efforts porting MaxDB to Vista (there are some PTS'ses open) but generally one can say, that products below 7.00 are unlikely to work short term.

  • Running R/3 4.7 on a Windows Server 2008 System during an upgrade

    Dear all,
I am plannung an upgrade project from R/3 4.7x200 to ERP6.0. The system is running on MaxDB. It's a single stack ABAP System.
Currently the system is running on a 32 bit Windows Server 2003. During the project we want to go to a new x86 64bit hardware with OS Windows Server 2008.
In order to use the speed of the new hardware also during the upgrade I want to move the systems to the new HW before starting the upgrade.
The problem is that runnning R/3 4.7 on Windows Server 2008 is not supported by SAP. On the other hand running the target release ERP6.0 on Windows Server 2008 is officially supported by SAP. This information comes from the PAM.
From the past I know that SAP allowed to run unsupported DB, OS and Release combinations during an upgrade project but I didn't find any information which fits to my situation.
Does anyone have experience with this constellation? Is there an official statement concerning this request?
    Thanks for you support!
    Regards
    Bernd

    > So I opened the OSS Message (0000594749) to the component you mentioned but the support answered that this would be a consultant task to support me in this area (?!?)....
I know one person who works for/in this component who did this several times to me too.
    > They asked me to open a thread here in SDN.
    That person did that too.
    > I send the message back to SAP and stated that I disagree with the statement that the confirmation of platform support is consulting...but until now I have no feedback.
Just insist on a statement. If you still get the message back, contact the CIC (support dot emea at sap dot com) since you seem to be located in the UK according to your business card) and ask them to give you a different message processor.
    > So I hoped someone already has some official statement from SAP.
Those special support statements are valid for a specific installation only so even if someone would have it for their installation it may not be valid for yours.
    > We would be running Production with release 4.7 on Windows 2008 for 3 weeks or so...and I will need official support for that, just for the case something goes wrong...
I don't think this should be a problem. Technically the kernel supports it (according to the note) and also the database.

  • Unable to open Office files on SharePoint 2010 sites on Windows Server 2008 R2

Setup: Windows SharePoint Server 2010 sp1 on Windows Server 2008 R2 (hosted on VMWare VSphere ESXi 5.1)
Secured using Domain SSL from GlobalSign.
    Client OS: Windows 7 Professional 32bit & Windows XP SP3 32 bit
    Browsers: IE10, IE9,IE8
    Office: Office 2010, Office 2010 sp2 (both 32bit), Office 2007
Problem Description: Only recently, users started having issues with opening Office files (Word, Excel) on SharePoint sites. When you click on an Office file e.g. Word Document, it comes up with the option to select "Ready only" or "Edit"
and choosing either options and re-entering the login credentials results in the
application hanging. If you leave it for a while (about 5 minutes) sometimes the file opens and other times it gives the error "Could not open https://portal.com/XXX/XXX/Document.docx". Even when it opens, it's extremely
sluggish and can't do anything other than end it via Task Manager. Same with excel files.
This happens to all the users all different OS and browsers.
On XP Pro SP3 w/ IE8, when you click on the file, the login prompt keeps popping back up repeatedly and if you click cancel, the file loads up anyway but no way of saving back onto the SharePoint site.
IMPORTANT: One exception is when logged in as a Site Collection Administrator, it
works like a dream bizarrely!!!! Opens, Edits and saves back fine on the SharePoint site.
    Have tried following:
    1. Repaired Office 2010 Pro; Uninstalled/Re-installed Office 2010 Pro
    2. Reset Browser, unticked automatically detect proxy settings.
    3. Emptied OfficeOfflineCache on Client
    4. Removed WebDAV from the SharePoint server
    5. Added Antivirus folder exclusion (We use SEP 11) on the SharePoint Server
Note: PDF files opens fine for all users.
I would immensely appreciate if anybody has got any advice/pointers/suggestions. Desperately out of ideas at the moment.
    regards,
    Compter Sez No!

    Hi,
According to your description, When you try to open a Microsoft Office document from a SharePoint 2010 site in a client application, the document opens slowly and you are prompted to enter your credentials multiple times.
This issue may be because of SharePoint Web Front End (WFE) server(s) has Antivirus software installed and the exceptions are not set correctly.
I recommend to remove the antivirus software or set the correct permissions for the antivirus software to resolve the issue.
To configure the antivirus exceptions, please follow the guidelines in the below articles:
    KB943620:
Folders to exclude when you perform a file-level antivirus scan on a server operating system.
    KB952167:
Certain folders may have to be excluded from antivirus scanning when you use a file-level antivirus program in SharePoint.
    KB943556:
Recommended file and folder exclusions for Microsoft Forefront Client Security or Forefront Endpoint Protection 2010.
    Best regards.
    Thanks

  • Error While Creating Windows Server 2008 SP2 32-BIT Virtual Machine

I am facing an error while creating a Virtual Machine on the Cloud. The Error is below:
    Error (610)
Virtual Machine Manager was unable to find a value for the required Sysprep parameter ProductKey.
    Recommended Action
Add the missing Sysprep parameter either to the answer file or to the operating system configuration, and then try the operation again.
My Template does not have the Product Key defined.  The OS is Windows Server 2008 SP2 32-BIT.  Is defining Product Key absolutely necessary?  I have other Templates for other Operating Systems and they are working fine.  Only facing problem
    with this.
    Any help would be appreciated.

In the SCVMM world a 'template' is composed of the following: a VHD with an OS that has been generalized (sysprep), virtual hardware profile (settings), and an OS profile.
The OS profile is required to have a product key.  A MAC activation key at the minimum.  But the key is required.
If you deploy a VM from a VHD, the same customization assumptions are not at play.  Which is why it succeeds.  (there is no template in this case, there is also no requirement that the OS in the VHD be sysprep'd).
SCVMM has rules.  And lots of things don't make sense until you begin to understand them and play within them. (I am not saying that the SCVMM rules are a good thing, just saying they exist)

  • How to install Windows Server 2008 (dualboot) on a PC with Windows 8.1 already on it?

Hi, I bought a new PC with preinstalled Windows 8. Now I need to install Windows Server 2008. Anyone can advise me how to
do it? It has to be in dual boot, in Virtual Machine the display is way too small

You should check out the Boot-to-VHD capability.
Here is how we do it in a lab environment which we got from a Microsoft lab:
-Verify your computer is running Windows 7 or later.
-Verify you have full administrator rights to your currently installed operating system.
-Verify hard disk encryption or other pre-boot security is turned off.
-Confirm that hardware virtualization technology and memory protection are both enabled in your computer's BIOS setup.
Now we just setup the a VHD with an operating system on it (can even use a downloaded server 180 day trial VHD if you are in a rush). Then go to Disk Management and select Attach VHD and point to the file. Note the drive letter that is assigned to the
    mounted VHD.
Run a command prompt as administrator and type: " bcdedit /export BCDBackup.bak " to create an exported backup of your boot loader configuration. Now type bcdboot [drive]:\windows.
Now to test your dual-boot configuration, restart your computer and select the new OS boot option.
An optional last step would be when complete to restore your boot loader by running "bcdedit /import BCDBackup.bak" and delete any VHD files.
A more detailed guide written for Windows 7 but still applies for Windows 8 can be found at:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/video/windows-7-boot-from-vhd.aspx
    Hope that helps.

  • How to install IE8 on Windows Server 2008 R2 Datacenter?

    Hello.
Can anybody tell me, how to install IE8 on 2008 R2 Datacenter?
I've downloaded this http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/internet-explorer-8-details.aspx for "Windows Server 2008 64-bit and more..", removed IE11, IE10, IE9 from installed updates, and runned "dism /online /disable-feature
    /featurename:Internet-Explorer-Optional-amd64".
And nothing helps. I've got a message "Internet Explorer 8 is not supported on this operating system".

    you can't "install" IE8 on WS2008R2, nor on Windows7 - because those OS's shipped with IE8.
IE is an OS component, and so when you "upgrade" or "downgrade" IE, you are affecting an OS component.
What this means is that the "IE8" download you are trying to apply, is actually IE8 for WinXP or maybe WinVista.
You can usually "downgrade" Win7 back to IE8, by uninstalling the newer "upgrade" of IE - this causes the OS to automatically attempt to revert to the prior IE version.
This reversion assumes/requires a healthy OS and component store (CBS), including all the pkgmgr file needed to revert to component.
Sometimes, the component store is damaged, or is missing files.
you may need to check the CBS logfiles, and may need to perform SFC /scannow
You may need to use CheckSUR to repair system health.

    Hello,
The following are a few things you can try:
Copy the media to the local disk drive, unzip it (in case you are installing from an ISO file, and run SQL Server setup from there.
Try to unregister and register the Windows Installer with the following two commands:
    msiexec /unregister
    msiexec /regserver
Try to use Process Monitor to log the detailed error produced when the installation of dw20sharedamd64.msi fails. You can download Process Monitor from the following link:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896645
Share with us the error captured by Process Monitor.

  • Opening Excel Workbook Fails when run from Scheduled Task on Windows Server 2008 Rw

    Hi,
I have a little vbs script that instantiates the Excel.Application object and then opens a work book to perform some tasks on it. The script runs fine when run from the command line. When I attempt to run it as a scheduled task (it is supposed to update
data that is pulled from a SQL Server at regular intervals), it fails with the following error:
Microsoft Office Excel cannot access the file 'c:\test\SampleWorkbook.xlsm'. There are several possible reasons: .....
The file does exist. The path reported in the error is correct. The account under which the task is running is the same account I use to run it from the command line. User Account Control is not enabled, and the task is set up to run with highest privileges.
When I run the same script through the Task Scheduler from a Windows Server 2003 machine, it works without issue.
I was just wondering if somebody on this forum has run into a similar issue in connection with Windows Server 2008 R2 and figured out what the magic trick is to make it work. I'm sure it is rights related, but I haven't quite figured out what which rights
    are missing.
Thanks in advance for any advice you may have.

This is truly killing me ... trying to get it working on Windows Server 2012 without success.
I desperately need to automate running Excel macros in a "headless" environment, that is non-interactive, non-GUI, etc.
I can get it to work using Excel.Application COM, either via VBScript or Powershell, successfully on many other Windows systems  in our environment - Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows 7 (32-bit), etc.,  -BUT-
The two servers we built out for running our automation process are Windows Server 2012 (SE) - and it just refuses to run on the 2012 servers - it gives the messages below from VBScript and PowerShell, respectively-
I have tried uninstalling and re-installing several different versions of Microsoft Excel (2007 Standard, 2010 Standard, 2010 Professional Plus, 32-bit vs. 64-bit, etc.), but it makes no difference.
Would be extremely grateful if any one out there has had any success in running Excel automation on Server 2012 in a non-interactive environment that they could share.
    ( I have tried adding the "%windir%\syswow64\config\systemprofile\desktop"
folder, which did fix the issue for me when testing on Windows Server 2008 R2, but sadly did not resolve it on Windows Server 2012 )
