Maximizing Window while Control Hidden Doesn't Behave Properly

Hi, I've run into a situation where I'm trying to take advantage of the resizing capabilities of LV8.x and I'm running into a snag I was hoping to get some help on.
Basically, when I have a (grouped) control hidden and then maximize the window and then show the control, the control is not where it should be.
I've attached an example VI.
Any ideas?
Thanks, Bruce

Resize Window while Control Hidden Test.vi ‏254 KB

Hello,
When you are resizing your front panel, it only resizes the visible windows. I have tested this out and submitted a corrective action request (CAR #182933). If you want your panel positioned properly, I would suggest forcing the placement of the cluster by adding an event structure for a panel resize event. This will allow you to determine the coordinates of where it should be.

    It is the default action in Firefox to open a new window with the home page(s).
    A possibility to avoid that is a bookmarks (e.g. on the Bookmarks Toolbar) with the location set to about:blank and use Shift + left-click to open a blank window or set the Home page to about:blank and use a bookmark to open the home page.

    제어판에서 이 제품들을 인식을 못하는거 같은데, 어도비에 전화해보니 C드라이브 들어가서

    I have used Adobe CC products for almost a year.
    As you know, I can download any adobe products what I want through it.
    I was using a lot of Adobe products, but now, there are some products
    that I won't use anymore. So I'm going to delete them.
    But windows' control panel doesn't recognize Adobe CC products(like Photoshop, After Effects, Etc..).
    So I called to Adobe Korea customer center. They told me that I can go into C drive and delete folders of Adobe products.
    This is not the answer what I exactly want. I want to make the control panel can recognize Adobe CC products.
    What should I do?

    Creative Cloud help says to uninstall CC apps on a Windows PC to do the following:
    Open the Window Control Panel > Programs and Features
    Choose an app and click Uninstall/Change
    Follow on-screen instructions
    This information is NOT correct.  Programs and Features does not contain all versions of Adobe software installed via Creative Cloud Desktop.  It only shows the most current installation.  Photoshop is a great example of why this is so.  I currently have five versions of Photoshop installed through my Creative Cloud subscription.  Windows has difficulty knowing which version to start, much less which to uninstall because the executable file for each version uses the same name--Photoshop.exe.  In terms of designating which file types should be opened by which programs, the problem is equally evident.  For example, setting current version Photoshop CC 2014 (version 15.1) as the program to open GIF files is not possible because Windows shows it's already done that with the designated program being Photoshop.exe.  Of course, all other versions of Photoshop executable files use the name Photoshop.exe.  So, it's not surprising that Windows is confused.  But that does not help the rest of us.
    The original questioner asked how they could get Windows Programs and Features to list CC applications.  I don't think that's possible given the way Adobe has configured and named the executable files that Windows relies on.  So, I'd add a question for Adobe:  How do I uninstall versions of Photoshop and other CC applications that I no longer use.  Programs and Features cannot help me--the programs simply are not listed.  So, how does Adobe envision users uninstalling CC apps that don't appear in Programs and Features?

  • Taskbar hidden by maximized windows

    Has anyone come across an issue with maximizing windows and having them cover the taskbar?  I'm finding it horribly annoying that when I maximize my window, it hides the bar and I then have to minimize the window to say... switch applications or look at the time... the list goes on and on...  I've tried several different solutions, some claiming to enable a "always on top" solution, but that still wont make it stay.  Does anyone have any tips or ideas?  Im seriously about to reinstall just so I dont have to deal with the issue anymore.

    No taskbar on win-key is a sure sign of file damage. SFC will fix that. If not, you are probably seeing a resource problem with the Aero theme. Video drivers are the usual suspect there.

  • Problems with Audio Stutter when moving minimizing/maximizing windows

    I am using an Emu 1820m (ASIO driver) with AA3.0. I'm using the same ASIO driver mode in both edit and multi-track view.
    In multi-track view, I can have several tracks going (i.e., 24 tracks as I type this) and the audio is fairly rock solid. I can go to other programs, move windows around, minimize/maximize windows, etc. and the audio is glitch free. This is while running the Emu 1820m at 48k/24-bit and 2ms latency!
    However, in the single edit view, this is another story. When I have an audio playing in the edit view, I get many audio glitches with audio events. The worst is when I minimize/maximize any window (not just AA3). I get a "brzzzzzt" while the window minimizes/maximizes. I can make this stop by disabling animations when minimizing/maximizing windows; however, why does mult-track view behave fine even with animations on?
    Also, in single edit view, moving windows around causes a lot of dropouts in audio (but again, not in multi-track view.)
    Can anyone shed any light as to what is going on here?
    A very extreme case to show the problem even further:
    In multi-track view, load up some tracks and play them. Now run dxdiag (while the multi-tracks are playing) and on the display tab, run the Direct3D tests. Even with the Direct3D tests running, the AA3.0 audio plays flawlessly while in multi-track mode. Now, play a file in Edit mode. Do the same test with dxdiag while the file is playing - GLITCH CITY!
    This doesn't happen in other audio programs I have (i.e., Sound Forge, Sonar, etc.)
    Please, someone, shed some light on this issue!
    My system is:
    + Intel Q6600 2.4 quad core G0 stepping @ 3.20
    + Arctic pro freezer 7 cooler
    + 4 gigs (2 sticks of 2 gigs) of G.Skill DDR2 1066 ram (PC2 8500)
    + Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3P Mobo

    SteveG, I don't believe it is an 1820m issue at all. Do you have a single or multi-core processor? This behavior did not occur on my old P4 3GHz system. I only started observing it when I built this quad core system about a month ago.
    By the way, today I replaced my mobo with one of the same brand and model and the behavior still exists (to rule out a defective mobo.) I've also tried 3 different video cards (although they were all NVIDIA) and the problem remains no matter which card I use.
    Durin,
    As I was typing the first post, I verified that I was using the Emu 1820m ASIO driver in both Edit and Multitrack views. (As I was writing it, it crossed my mind that I might have it set to something else in one mode.) However, it is the same in both.
    One thing I forgot to mention is that there is one more app that behaves similarly (Reaper). All other apps (Sonar, FL Studio, eXT, Ableton Live, Sound Forge, Wavosaur) do not show this behavior and are rock solid.
    If you'd like to see my thread about this behavior in Reaper (and others who can reproduce it) see here: http://www.cockos.com/forum/showthread.php?t=19036
    I believe Sonar, FL Studio, eXT, Ableton Live, Sound Forge, Wavosaur, etc.. are doing something properly when playing back audio and/or initializing plugins that Adobe Audition and Reaper are failing to do properly with certain hardware configurations.

  • Maximized window

    I have design my Labview application to fit on a 1024x800 screen with a maximized
    window. The compiled application launchs with non-maximized window such that
    the user has first to maximize it for an optimal display.
    I would like this window maximization to be done automatically when the application

    How can I make my compiled application (.exe file) to be open automatically

    Already tried this.
    It does not behave exactly as maximize.
    The effect of 'size to screen' is indeed to rescale the screen at t

    but you still have two-pixel-wide borders that you don't have with a true

    they hide part of control close to the border.

  • Show message window while system is working

    Dear all,
    i would like to show a message (e.g. "Please wait....") in a window while the application is working. When the application has finished the calculations, i would like to hide this message and to return the control to the user.
    How can i do that?
    My main window is a Frame.
    Thanks in advance.
    Angelo

    Hi,
    this is the code:
    public class WaitDialog extends JDialog {
    JPanel panel1 = new JPanel();
    JLabel textLabel = new JLabel();
    XYLayout xYLayout1 = new XYLayout();
    public WaitDialog(Frame frame, String title, boolean modal) {
    super(frame, title, modal);
    try {
    jbInit();
    catch(Exception ex) {
    ex.printStackTrace();
    void jbInit() throws Exception {
    panel1.setLayout(xYLayout1);
    panel1.setBackground(new Color(98, 255, 138));
    textLabel.setFont(new java.awt.Font("Dialog", 1, 30));
    textLabel.setText("Please wait....");
    this.setDefaultCloseOperation(WindowConstants.DO_NOTHING_ON_CLOSE);
    this.setResizable(false);
    xYLayout1.setWidth(400);
    xYLayout1.setHeight(150);
    getContentPane().add(panel1);
    panel1.add(textLabel, new XYConstraints(183, 71, -1, -1));
    this.setSize(400, 150);
    validate();
    pack();
    In the main frame:
    WaitDialog wd = new WaitDialog(thisFrame, true);
    wd.show();
    wd.validate();
    validate();
    ........other code (open serial port, send 2 serial message)
    wd.dispose();
    I want a dialog window, but it didn't show the message: i think because the application is running the following code, so it doesn't refresh the dialog window.
    How can i solve the problem?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Afterfx command line "restores" maximized window - any way to duplicate ExtendScript invocation?

    Hi all,
    I am controlling After Effects CC from another application by invoking JavaScript files from the command line. But the command *always* restores the maximized window of After Effects. That is, if the After Effects application is maximized, it always *restores* it, every time I invoke the JavaScript file through the command line (e.g. through Windows cmd prompt or through my application). When I execute the same JavaScript file through ExtendScript IDE, it doesn't do this erronous behaviour.
    For example: "AfterFx.exe -r C:\path\showDialog.jsx"
    Contents of showDialog.jsx:
    alert("Showing Dialog from JSX file");
    My question is: Is there *any way* to mimic what ExtendScript does to invoke JavaScript files?
    From listening on Windows processes, it seems that ExtendScript tacks on some JavaScript code, dynamically, to do the execution (i.e. couldn't trace any command line processes/arguments). But I can't seem to figure out what exact JavaScript code it invokes. ExtendScript also seems to be working via Bridge.
    I get the same "restore window" behaviour when I try to use "-s" argument with the JavaScript expression passed as a string argument or if I use "AfterFx.com" instead of "AfterFx.exe". I couldn't find any documentation for what command line parameters are supported for AfterFx (other than "-r" and "-s") and what Extend Script might be doing exactly to invoke the .jsx files. I managed to take a peek at the executable binary of AfterFx.exe (through a hex editor) and noticed the following switches.
    -rquiet, -noerr, -noui, -debug, -livelink, -selflink, -headlessonly, -rquiet, -rq, -mp
    But I couldn't get the "window restoring" behaviour to stop with any of the parameters.
    Any advice will be really appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    Thanks again for your comments. I tried with PsExec just now but no luck still. The only useful argument parameter in PsExe seems to be:
    -d
    Don't wait for process to terminate (non-interactive).
    But the same behaviour happens. I tried with "-e" as well (separately and combined with "-d").
    I also tried a few command line argument options with "start" command, on the Windows Command prompt. For example:
    "start /MAX AfterFx.exe -r C:\path\file.jsx" <-- supposed to start the application in the maximized state
    "start /b AfterFx.exe -r C:\path\file.jsx" <-- supposed to start the app without a creating a new window
    But no luck still . Tried various combinations of the above two arguments as well.
    Seems like Adobe After Effects explicitly does something weird to snap the application *out* of the MAXIMIZED state, if the executable is invoked (either via command line, with or without arguments or directly from start menu/GUI items). I don't know why they would do this though. I also wonder whether this is simply a bug in their implementation of Adobe After Effects CC on Windows 7.
    Is there any way to MAXIMIZE Adobe Effects Effects through their JavaScript API? I am wondering whether I can explicility check/set the window to be maximized in my invoked script, to fix this behaviour.
    Thanks.

  • IMovie shows up in Mission Control, but doesn't open when clicked.

    Can't open iMovie. iMovie shows up in Mission Control, but doesn't open when clicked. It just disappears up in the top left corner of the screen. The controls on the top of the screen (like; iMovie, File, Edit, View, Text, Share, etc) are al there, and they seem to work, but the window just won't show up.
    It happened after installing Mountain Lion on my Macbook Pro.

  • Windows 7 PC's doesn't show up automatically in Finder

    Windows 7 PC's doesn't show up in Finder
    I know there are probably a lot of threads about this already but the ones I have read haven't helped me with my problem yet.
    The problem I am facing is that my Windows 7 PC's doesn't show up automatically in Finder.
    What works:
    1. I can see all of the computers (Mac and Windows) on the network on my Windows machines, if I look under Network in Windows.
    2. I can see my Mac computers in Finder under Shared
    3. I can CMD+K connect to all of the computers on the network using SMB, both with entering the name of the computer or the IP
    4. I can ping all of the IP's on the network
    What doesn't work:
    1. Windows 7 machines doesn't show up automatically in Finder
    2. I can't ping hostnames in Network Utility, can only ping IP's - it says cannot resolve hostname
    What I have tried:
    1. Turned on SMB sharing on OSX
    2. Edited /private/etc/hosts to include Windows PC's
    3. Turned off all firewalls on Windows, OSX and Router
    4. Installed Bonjour on Windows machines
    5. A bunch of other things...
    Theories:
    1. The best theory I can come up with is that OSX is having trouble with NETBIOS and that's why the Windows computers aren't showing up in OSX but I can still see the OSX computers in Windows 7. And the reason why I can see the other Macs in OSX is that they use something other than NETBIOS to broadcast their existence on the network.
    2. The Gods are against me...
    It should be said that I had it work for a very short while, but then i changed something and couldn't reverse it.
    I hope someone can help me find the little thing I am missing to get this thing to work.

  • What can I do if my CD or DVD drive doesn't work properly in Windows 8?

    QuestionWhat can I do when if my laptop CD or DVD drive doesn't work properly in Windows 8?
    AnswerNote: For help with this issue in Windows 7, please see this article.
    To get your CD or DVD drive working correctly, try these suggestions in the order listed.
    Reinstall the Driver
    Hold the Windows key and press the 'x' key to open a menu in the lower-left. In this menu, select "Device Manager." Expand "DVD/CD-ROM drives." Right-click the entry for the CD/DVD drive nested under "DVD/CD-ROM drives," then select "Uninstall." Finally, restart the computer. The computer will reinstall the drivers for the drive.
    Power Cycle
    Even when your laptop is off and unplugged, residual power can still be held in some components. While this is normal, clearing it can help with some hardware problems. Perform these steps to complete what’s called a power cycle.
    Ensure the laptop is turned off.
    Unplug the laptop's AC power cable.
    Unplug all wires and peripherals. This includes CDs, DVDs, USB sticks, mice, printers, and any other accessories.
    Remove the battery (if the model has a removable battery). If the model does not have a removable battery, check your user's guide to determine if you have a pinhole reset on the bottom. If you do, press this.
    Hold down the power button for thirty seconds.
    Reattach the battery if removed.
    Connect the AC adaptor to the power socket that was confirmed to be working in the first step.
    Connect the other end of the AC adaptor to your computer.
    Start the computer and test the drive
    Microsoft Fix-it
    Your computer may exhibit one or more of the following symptoms:
    Your CD or DVD drive no longer appears in Windows
    Your CD or DVD drive does not read or write and is shown as disabled
    The media in your CD or DVD drive cannot be read
    The media cannot be written to a CD or DVD inserted into the drive
    You receive an error message about your CD or DVD drive
    If any of these symptoms apply to your computer, use Microsoft Fix-it troubleshooter available here.
    System Restore
    Try using System Restore to restore to the most restore point from before the problem arose.

    System Recovery
    If the System Restore doesn't solve the issue, you could try a System Reset. Resetting your laptop to its original, out-of-the-box state is a great way to eliminate software as a possible cause of the problem. Note that doing a system reset will return the laptop to its default conditions, completely wiping your data. Information on how to perform a system recovery can be found in your user's guide.

    I just purchased a new computer that runs windows 8 and it doesn't want to recognize the time capsule as an external hard drive (ie doesn't show up under my compter).  I've downloaded and run airport utility, but it seems to have a hard time finding the time capsule...maybe one out of 10 times it will find it.
    What's more, when I look under network infrastructure under the control panel, it shows my Broadcom ADSL centurylink Router...so I'm wondering if my modem/router combo is overriding the router function on my timecapsule and the time capsule is not being used as a router...
    Any help much appreciated!

    In this case the TC should be in bridge mode.
    Win8 is still problematic. Try using ethernet instead of wireless. I think the drivers are poor still and it is well worth having a try via ethernet if you haven't already.
    Otherwise you will need to wait for apple to release bonjour for windows 8 and airport utility.. which is not out yet.
    Also make sure the windows is set to home, not work or public.. even turn off the firewall.
    Open windows explorer and type the TC ip address into the address bar.. (none of which is perhaps the same.. I gave away windows at vista.. shudder)

  • Compiled executable does not open in maximized window

    I have attached a JPG showing the VI Properties that pertain to Window size.  Despite the fact that I have indicated in Run-Time Position - Position:  Maximized.  The compiled executable does not open in a maximized window.
    Even stranger, if I take the shortcut for the program and change it's properties (on the target machine) to Open Maximized, it still doesn't open maximized.
    I have had this behavior with every compiled executable for a couple of years using versions of LabVIEW 8, 2010, 2011 and currently 2011 SP1.  Both the compiling machine and the target machine are Windows XP.
    Is there any explanation for this behavior?  Any way to correct it?

    I think Ravens Fan is correct. The aspect ratio appears to take precedence over the window position.
    You can set a property manually in your code to maximize the window.
