Maximum EHD partition size OS Xv10.4 server can handle?

Using a 2TB G-raid as a capture scratch drive for FCE 3.5, partitioned as one volume.  (Cumulative HD video footage from many Northern Channel Islands dive trips.)  The last capture put me over 1TB and now many crazy things are happening.
On Google search I found a mention of a <1TB limit on UFS partitions for the OS Xv10.3 server - is something like this true of my v10.4.11 server as well?
Any good info appreciated - as well as advice on reformatting this drive if it is in fact overloaded for my system.  It is not behaving well, for FCE, the QT player or even Finder!
Thanks,
ss

Hi BD - I think I share your opinion, not sure I understand  what you're saying, though.
I've had two failures with G-tech products, a 200GB G-raid mini and now the 2TB G4.  Both failures were of their connections - the FW ports &/or other non-disc parts.  Is that what you mean by "cases/chipsets"?
How can you tell what kind of chipsets/cases (eg the Oxfords you mentioned) a drive has when you walk by the On Sale pile at Fry's?
I've never bought separate components, only fully assembled drives.  Length of warranty has already been an issue - the G-raid mini had a one-year warranty when I bought it.  When it failed at less than two years it was being marketed with a 2 year warranty, and I made myself such a nuisance they fixed it for me free anyway!
The 3 Seagates and 3 La Cies have never given trouble.  In fact, when I knocked over my new 500GB LaCie D4 Quad while it was running, and called to tell them that Disc Repair didn't make the clunking stop, the tech said **** happens and sent me a new one...  Won my heart for keeps, and of course the drives lie flat now, no more little stands.
How hard is it to become competent with assembling your own drives & frames?  Do you need lots of screwdrivers?  Soldering irons?  Welding capability?  I bet ten points you know a good link for this!

ps hope you're breathing better...

  • Is there a maximum input file size Flash CS3 Video Encoder can handle?

I am stuck with this encoder and attempting to "TRIM" an MPG file to specific time in/time out points for CBT course (the video is close to 500 meg). When I click the "Start Queue" it zips through with a bunch of black area then slows and only gives maybe 5 or 10 seconds of video.

That isn't what I asked. I don't need to know how large a pdf file that can be created is. And that thread you posted the link for says the maximum is 10GB's. Acrobat supposedly has the ability to convert an HTML file to a PDF file. I need to know what is the largest size HTML file that Acrobat can open for the purposes of converting it to a PDF file? As I said, I tried to get Acrobat to open an 81MB HTML file, for purposes of converting it to a PDF file (I had not even started the conversion process yet; I was just trying to do a File -> Open of an HTML file), and after sitting there trying for a few hours, Acrobat finally crashed. So, I need to know how I'm going to get Acrobat to convert this HTML file to a PDF file....or maybe it is just unable to do so.

  • What is the maximum size a sender SOAP adapter can handle?

    Hi,
I am using sender SOAP adapter and receiver RFC adapter.
What is the maximum size of request message it can handle efficiently.
In the current scenario which I need to design , the request XML file could be up to 24 MB.
Also if you could comment on which would be the best to use as the sender side - SOAP or File Adapter
when the request message/file is of such size?
    regards
    Arun G

    hi,
    >What is the maximum size of request message it can handle efficiently.
it totally depends on your hardware and flow design inside XI/PI
    >In the current scenario which I need to design , the request XML file could be up to 24 MB.
this size is not a lot for a "normal" XI machine but it also depends on the
volume of those messages - that is if you need to send
one message like that per day or 1000 per half an hour...
    >Also if you could comment on which would be the best to use as the sender side - SOAP or File Adapter
when the request message/file is of such size?
SAP's general recommendation is to use messages around 5mb
but it heavily depends on other factors so don't threat it as a must

  • Max Concurrent Audio Conferences my Lync Server can handle

    Hello Experts,
Can somebody help with this calculations:
I was asked by my manager to to find out the "Max concurrent audio conferences" that our Lync Front End server can handle. I have tried used Capacity calculator, but I sometimes get confused with it.
    My information:
    Conferencing codec is G.722 codec,
we have 10,000 users in Lync Front End server
Server runs: dual processor, hexa-core 2.3 ghz
    Assuming 30 % concurrent conferences
    Thanks Guys

Given the user model that 5% of users in a pool may be in a conference at any one time, a pool of 80,000 users could have about 4,000 users in conferences at one time. These conferences are expected
to be a mix of media (some IM-only, some IM with audio, some audio/video, for example) and number of participants. There is no hard limit for the actual number of conferences allowed, and actual usage determines the actual performance. Then you could have
500 users or less in conferences at one time.
You can refer to the link below to calculate.

  • How many users one EJB server can handle?

How many concurrent users can be served by one EJB server? After which point claster of servers should be created?
I know that it depends on application, but can someone estimate some rough average?
Real numbers from working application are very welcome.

Specify the application server name, people would help if you tell the app server name.

  • Asking about how server can handle client disconnection

    Dear sir/madam,
i'm doing my final year project and it is about a java client/server big2 game. But now i have a difficulties in dealing with the server side.
That is about how to take action on the serverside if the client suddenly disconnected.
I have read many java client/server programming scripts. But all of them doesn't mention this problem. The scrpits only assume the client side never disconnect suddenly.
I hope if you can give me some suggestions on this problem.

For my mud written in java, I used TCP/IP for the connections. When a client connects, he gets his own thread. Those threads are held in a vector in a manager class. each tick of the server does a quick run thru the vector and if the current thread/socket its on is null or !isAlive() its remove from the vector(which in turn removes it from getting any more game updates. This removal can be caused by two things. The clients disconnects by accident(kills his game, locks up has an internet connection hiccup, etc.) or he uses the games "quit" method. The quit method calls a method that does any player saving of data, etc then closes the socket, and sets it to null. thus the manager sees this and removes him frm the vecotr list on the next server tick. Seems to work great form a mud and worked really well in a multiplayer applet game I had up for a while.

Faz uns 2 dias que eu jogava um jogo do site, mas quando eu fui entrar de novo, apareceu essa mensagem... o que está acontecendo?

Yes, Long standing problem with Verizon which does not support Google...go figure.  To log in to Verizon using Google, you must access it throuugh an "incognito Window" which you can access by right clicking on the google icon.  This has been reported by many for over a year but verizon still has not fixed it, they just don't care.  There are othe ways around it which I posted previously, but this is the quickest.

  • Maximum Partition Size for External Drive using DU

    Hello,
I just purchased a 750g Maxtor USB drive for use with Time Machine. When I went into DU to partition and format the drive I was surprised to find that every time I went to create a single partition using all available space, the operation would error out. I was however able to create two partitions with the largest one sized around 650g or so. I was using the Mac file system.
This just seems odd to me. Does OS X have a maximum allowable partition size that prevents me from creating one large partition?
    Thanks,
    Robert

    Hi Robert
You should be able to delete the partition, try again using the instruction in the following article:

  • Growfs: cannot get partition size, Inappropriate ioctl for device

    Hi ,
I am trying to increase the filesystem. I did first
    #metattach d37 1G
d37: Soft Partition has been grown
    and then
    # growfs -M <mount point> d37
devinfo: /dev/md/dsk/d38: Inappropriate ioctl for device
    growfs: cannot get partition size
What is the problem, can anyone help me?
    Thanks in advance,

looking at the response you got an error message for d38, either your have increased the size of the wrong metadevice or you may have forgotten to increase the size of the opposing sub mirror plex, if d37 and d38 form a mirror, you need to post a metastat and a df -k, to allow us to see what your config is.

  • Tuning Orion Server - Can you specify number of threads?

Is there a setting similar to Weblogic's executeThread property that you can set for Orion? It seems that when we are running tests on Orion, the CPU utilization never goes past 50% no matter how much load we apply. We are guessing that this is because the thread pool that Orion uses is set to a small size.
    Any ideas?

    RqThrottle
Specifies the maximum number of simultaneous request processing threads that the server can handle simultaneously per socket. Each request runs in its own thread.
This value is adjusted on the HTTP Server>Advanced>Performance page.
Note this value is generally associated with the web server component. There is no guarantee that a web server thread is one-to-one with a web container thread - although this seems completely plausible.

    Hi,
Would you please let me know if your OS version is Windows Server 2012 or Windows Server 2012 Essentials? If it’s Windows Server 2012, you’d better ask the question in the File Services and
Storage forum. We will get a better assistance there.

  • Permanent and temporary partition sizes execeeds maximum size allowed

    I receceivd error 818
permanent and temporary partition sizes execeeds maximum size allowed on this platform
I'm currently using TimesTen 32 bit version running Solaris and I increased one of my data storage size
    to
    PermSize=1700
    TempSize-350
    which is around 2G.
The system has 16G of memory, and the shared memory is set to 0xF0000000 which is almost the max of 32 bit.
Does anyone know this error is a sytem limit (32bit), or it can be fixed by tuning the system paramter? The system limits section does not have any information on the partition size limit. Anyone has any idea?

That's correct, the 1 GB limit is specific to 32-bit HP/UX. All other 32-bit Unix/Linux platforms have a maximum size limit of 2 GB and as Jim mentioned this limit is such that:
    PermSize + TempSize + LogBufMB + ~20MB < 2 GB
If you need anything larger you need a 64-bit O/S and 64-bit TimesTen.

  • Max GPT partition size for Windows 2008R2

Is the max partition size 256tb -64K? for 64k stripe size?? What is the max?

    Hi Jared,
From Windows Server 2003 SP1, Windows XP x64 edition, and later versions, the maximum raw partition of
18 exabytes can be supported. (Windows file systems currently are limited to 256 terabytes each.)
GPT disks support partitions of up to 18 exabytes (EBs) in size and up to 128 partitions per disk.

  • Size of report on server

    Hi,
anyone knows how to calculate the size of a 9000 records on 28 columns report that is pulled from a Universe into Excel through Live Office?
I am interested in 3 type of sizes:
    - Maximum Character Stream Size MB
    - Binary Stream Maximum Size MB
    - Java Heap Size MB
I got this formula for the Java Heap Size on SAP Notes but seems it's for BEx reports:
    Memory = #result cells * 0.8 KB + #displayed cells * 5 KB
    Any info would be appreciated.
    Thanks,

It sounds like what you want is an event-driven report (i.e., when an event occurs on the database the report be triggered and run). There's functionality provided in 9i for this, so I'd first suggest that you look at this and see whether you can upgrade.
If not then you could make use the utl_http database package to construct a call to run a report on the server from within a database trigger (I'm assuming that the required event can trigger a database trigger).
Have a look at this and see whether it solves your problem.

    Danny
