Maximum frame resolution of 4000 px in FCP?

Strange but true...I want to build a sequence of 2048 px by 4096 px...it seems there is a 4000 pixel max frame size when I try to set up the sequence. I'm running FCP HD on a dual 2.7 GHz G5 w/ 2GB of ram. would an even beefier system be able to handle my disired sequence size, or is it a matter of software limitations? Thanks in advance - Vicky

Thanks for the info...it seems to be an FCP limitation, Quicktime can open the image sequence just fine. A shot in the dark, but I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions for a work around...a way to end up w/ a 4098 x 2048 resolution.. are there any helper apps out there to handle such a size?

  • Maximum video resolution and/or bitrate/fps

  • Maximum Supported resolution on graphics card???

Does anyone know the maximum supported resolution on the MacBook graphics card? I'd like to see if i could get a cheaper and bigger display than the ones made by apple. Any info would be appreciated.

No, that's just for the internal display.
Here's the info from Apple's hardware documentation
Extended Desktop Mode- In extended desktop mode, the resolution of the two displays can be set independently. In this mode, the maximum external display resolution supported by the MacBook is 2048 x 1536 at 60 Hz for analog displays and 1920 x 1200 at 60 Hz for digital displays.
1920x1200 is the native resolution for the 23" Apple display, the 24" Dell display, and probably some others. They work great with Macbooks.

  • Is there a breeze export option that defines the maximum opening resolution of the browser ?

    Hi,
The maximum resolution of a breeze presentation slide is 720
    x 540 correct?
Does anyone know if there is a way to prevent that a breeze
presentation gets too big when it is opened in a big resolution
    screen?
What I’m asking is if there is a breeze export option
that defines the maximum opening resolution of the browser that
contains the breeze presentation, preventing the images and flash
animations to loose too much resolution…
When I play my presentations from the breeze server, it
doesn’t load in the web browser but in a window that not fit
the entire computer screen, what is good to the definition of the
presentation…It is possible to do this locally??
(I may be wrong, but in the breeze server is it opening the
    swf file directly?)
I sure can, after exporting, place the swf file of the
presentation, manually, in an html file (instead of using the
index.html that is created in the publishing) this way it will
never get bigger when opening it in the browser, but if I do this
it will affect the SCORM or anything else??
    What do you suggest?

Set the Integer pref browser.sessionstore.max_resumed_crashes to 0 on the about:config page to get the about:sessionrestore page immediately with the first restart after a crash has occurred or the Task Manager was used to close Firefox.

i have problem in FCP while playback in Sony TV, it only shows freedge frame, Video can play smoothly in FCP but in TV it shows only Freedge frame.

Come on gents and gentesses...... I'm really sweating on this one. Can't properly display my combined audio and pic when showing the Timeline contents of FCP in the MacPr's TV monitor Only the pic is appearing without any proper sound, as reported above. Just a mono row.
Does nobody have any idea on the problem or am I too far up to date with the MacPro and FCP 5.1.4 for even Apple to let me in on the way to rectilfy. Bloomin' upgrades...... !

  • PrE 8 prevent transcode of 352x240 frame resolution video?

I'm trying to reorganize video originally recorded on a DVD recorder appliance using a low frame resolution, 352x240. Since this source material is compliant with DVD specs, it should not require transcoding. But it's not clear to me how to prevent transcoding in Premier Elements 8 of video that's not 720x480. The material is already of low quality, so transcoding will only make it worse. Plus, if it is transcoded, closed captions embedded in the MPEG-2 user data will be lost, and I do not want to lose the CC data. So, how can I "tune" Premier Elements 8 so it will not transcode this DVD compliant source material?
FWIW, I can do what I want with Ulead DVD Movie Factory 4. However, it's installed on a old, slow, 32 bit celeron desktop and I'd like to take advantage of my new i5 quad core laptop that has Premier Elements 8 pre-installed.
    TIA,
    Helen

    Helen,
While there might be some exceptions, few DVR devices actually produce 100% DVD-Compliant discs.
Also, since there is major down-rezzing to begin with, I fear that the quality will be pretty bleak, and then you have the MPEG-2 compression too.
    Good luck,

  • How to change the maximum frame rate of the camera by changing the image size?

I have two  acA2040-180km cameras which are connected to 2 NI PCIe-1433 framegrabbers, I am monitoring my cameras by LabView, maximum allowable frame rate is about 187 for full resolution images, but I just need a small fraction of the images, I know if I make the images smaller, FPS will get higher, but it isn't possible by changing the image size in NI MAX, I've also tried to change the size by defining the region of interest in the grab setup.vi, but it would be after going to camera so it isn't the case as well, so I need a VI to go to the camera before starting to take photo and define the region of interest which is going to be captured, would you please help me to find it?
Please help me, this problem get me stuck!!!

Have you tried changing the image size using property nodes as Bruce suggested? Do remember with Basler cameras, reducing the width only will not affect the transfer speed but the reducing the height will. Have a look at the frame calculator to understand what you frame rates you can acheive with certain settings:

  • Cannot change frame resolution

I am unable to render out a different frame size than the original media.
The original media is ProRes HQ 1920x1080, but I need to render an NTSC version
    of the final colored project.
All project settings are set correctly and appropriate changes in geometry are made.
It seems like this is a software bug.
I have found that color doesn't want to change the frame size to any media
    if rendering to ProRes.
With DPX output this is no problem.
    Any ideas?

Seems like there is something going on when coming from FCP.
You can take that one to the bank.
    That's my experience, as well.
A number of things are "locked" as part of the Send To (hidden XML) round trip. Geometry is one of them, so I'm assuming the absolute resolution is also locked -- for Quicktime flow. Framerate is also iron-clad. About all that one can change is the export codec, since so few are supported natively anyway. Remember that this workflow was designed to obviate the need for awareness or comprehension with regard to frame size, framerate, codec, field dominance, aspect ratio, you know, all that "technical guff" or even whether media is video or fillum.
No surprise that this works for dpx export -- its a different post path altogether.
About the only occasion that a Final Cut Send sequence will change resolution is the RED flow, where the P proxy can be scaled right up to what they call "4K" and eligible for export in that format either in ProRes, Uncompressed QT or as dpx. But this is probably unique as R3D is a hybrid/semi- Quicktime-wrapped world.

  • Advice on sequence settings - frame size for VHS video in FCP

    Hello,
I was hoping that I could get some advice on editing and output for video captured from VHS Tapes to ensure the best quality possible.
My current workflow to digitize the VHS tapes is:
VHS signal from JVC S7600u with TBC into ADVC 300 (no de-interlace or other filters set) into a Mac Pro via firewire.  Capture preset in FCP is DV NTSC 48khz.
Once in FCP - the captured VHS video frame size is 720 X 480, Vid rate is 29.97, pixel aspect is NTSC-CCIR 601 and field dominance is lower (even)
    My questions are:
If my final destination is for You Tube sharing , are these the best sequence/ frame size settings or should I convert the sequence frame size to 640 X 480, or should I leave at 720 X 480 while working in FCP and then output to Compressor and select the H264 you tube sharing video setting and change the frame size to 640 X 480?
Should I de- interlace for internet/youtube destination?
    Should I de-interlace for DVD/TV destination?
If I want to burn the finished project to DVD and watch the video on a progressive montitor/ TV screen, what would be the best settings/frame size for that?
If any of you out there have experience with editing vcr/analog video in FCP and have a good workflow to ensure best quality, I would really appreciate  any advice/suggestions.
    Thanks in advance.

Digitize to 720X480 frame size in FCP. In compressor, your YouTube preset will automatically deinterlace and a square pixel aspect ratio. No deinterlacing for DVD.

  • Maximum Screen Resolution for a Compaq 1200 Laptop?

I was just recently allowed to turn one of the laptops lying around into an Arch Linux laptop (title states model). It's working swell...it's just that I do not know what is the maximum resolution for it. 800x600 seems too small...
    If any of you need to see the xorg.conf for it, you are going to have to wait for a moment...^^;

the displayport can drive a 30 inch WQXGA (2560 x 1600) monitor in its native resolution using either the displayport or if you use an active displayport to dual link dvi converter.
If you don't run anything games or other graphic intensive programs, the X20x can drive the max resolution just fine.

  • T60 and maximum external resolution?

    Hi,
I have a T60 (Intel 945GM chipset) at work and considering a large widescreen monitor (Dell U2410, 24", 1920x1200, 16:10 format). Does this laptop support an "external" resolution of 1920 x 1200 (using a port replicator with DVI throughput)?
    Thanks in advance

T60 only had the X1300 or X1400 ATI GPU, the intel gpu is an integrated unit.
The intel gpu doesn't support dual link dvi output, so which means you are limited to a maximum of WUXGA from the dvi port. T60p can support the WQXGA resolution through the dock.

  • What's the maximum Screen Resolution (Windows 7) on a T410?

    Hi,
I got a new Lenovo T410 laptop (Type 2252-AT6) which came with WinXP. I upgraded to Windows 7 but found that the screen resolution was really limited. The maximum I'm able to get is 1440 X 900 which is very disappointing as the WinXP install previous on the same machine was much better.
I tried installing all the video drivers from the downloads from the Lenovo support but none appear to help.
Is that the maximum I can get Win7? And do I have to go back to WinXP to get the better screen resolution on the same machine.
    Appreciate any replies.
    Regards,
    Paul.

T410's WXGA+ can only support a maximum of 1440x900 resolution. There is nothing you can do about that.

  • "Dropped Frames on Playback" - when playing back FCP's Bars+tone

We've been having a problems with one of our edit suites dropping frames when playing back to tape (Edit to tape).
In checking it out, I created a new project and added DCP's PAL Bars and tone to the default sequence. FCP is stopping playback with the "Dropped Frames on Playback" error after 13"-15". I've tried all the usual stuff - trashing FCP prefs, zapping PRAM, repairing preferences etc.
    Has anyone any further suggestions??
RT is set to Safe, with dynamic frame rate and video quality.
The Mac is a Dual 2.66GHz Dual Core Xeon, 4Gb RAM, with an AJA kona lhe card, connected to an XServe Raid via fibre. The tape deck is a DigiBeta M2000.
I've read all the posts I could find, and checked Shane's stock answer #12.

Try creating a new user, log into that and test FCP.
In my case, a new user worked, for awhile.
Through a lot of trial and error and a reinstallation that was ineffectual - properly surmised by a very learned friend of mine, Mr. Sheffield - I found a project to be corrupt. So thoroughly corrupt that it would corrupt FCP and any projects opened downstream which is why my new user worked for awhile. Took me some time to figure out the proper order to open things after a system restart. Looks like I'll be doing a rebuild of the project through xml which shouldn't take to long.
In your case, if a new user doesn't help and you go the reinstallation route, uninstall FC Studio with this jewel of a utility. Many thanks to Jon for writing and distributing. http://www.digitalrebellion.com/blog/posts/fcsremover_1.0.6released.html

  • What is the maximum display resolution for Adobe Reader X?

    Hello,
I have a multi-projector classroom that projects a 14,000 x 1200 pixel (Windows 7) desktop in a wrap-around manner.   When I load a pdf document with Adobe Reader X, the content will not fill the screen, even when zoomed in.  It appears the max. resolution is around 9-10k width.  Full screen mode does use the entire area but the leftmost ~4000 pixel width is gray.
    Thanks,
    Scott

I'm sorry -- I have not communicated my question well.   When I use full
page mode (no window borders, Ctrl-L) and zoom to many thousands %, then
entire screen (14000 pixels by 1200 pixels) is not used -- only about 9000
pixels x 1200 pixels.   The entire screen should have document content
because I'm extremely zoomed in.  There is no meaning to pixels/inch in
this context (and I tried your suggestion -- it made no difference).   This
seems to be a hard limitation of Adobe Reader X screen display...?
    Thanks,
    Scott
