Maximum length of video

I have an iPhone 5, and was wondering how long of uninterupted video the device will record.  I know it is based on the free space available, but some "non-traditional" video recording devices (like my DSLR) will record only up to 10 minutes, before shutting off automatically, and I didn't know if the iPhone 5 opperates that way.
I've tried researching in the communities, and tried finding the info on the technical page, but I haven't found the info yet.
Thanks in advance for any info.
Gary

I think the issue is more with the ISP. It's not as much about length as it is file size. Of course the longer the video, the larger the file size. Comcast for example has a 10 MB limit for attachments. If you have other email accounts on your iPhone such as gmail or mobileme, you could try sending your video from those accounts on the iPhone. I think gmail has a 20 MB limit, not sure about MobileMe.

It's trying to tell you to change the encoding setting:
    iDVD encoding settings:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iDVD/7.0/en/11417.html
    Short version:
Best Performance is for videos of up to 60 minutes
Best Quality is for videos of up to 120 minutes
Professional Quality is also for up to 120 minutes but even higher quality (and takes much longer)
That was for single-layer DVDs. Double these numbers for dual-layer DVDs.
Professional Quality: The Professional Quality option uses advanced technology to encode your video, resulting in the best quality of video possible on your burned DVD. You can select this option regardless of your project’s duration (up to 2 hours of video for a single-layer disc and 4 hours for a double-layer disc). Because Professional Quality encoding is time-consuming (requiring about twice as much time to encode a project as the High Quality option, for example) choose it only if you are not concerned about the time taken.
In both cases the maximum length includes titles, transitions and effects etc. Allow about 15 minutes for these.
You can use the amount of video in your project as a rough determination of which method to choose. If your project has an hour or less of video (for a single-layer disc), choose Best Performance. If it has between 1 and 2 hours of video (for a single-layer disc), choose High Quality. If you want the best possible encoding quality for projects that are up to 2 hours (for a single-layer disc), choose Professional Quality. This option takes about twice as long as the High Quality option, so select it only if time is not an issue for you.
Use the Capacity meter in the Project Info window (choose Project > Project Info) to determine how many minutes of video your project contains.
NOTE: With the Best Performance setting, you can turn background encoding off by choosing Advanced > “Encode in Background.” The checkmark is removed to show it’s no longer selected. Turning off background encoding can help performance if your system seems sluggish.
And whilst checking these settings in iDVD Preferences, make sure that the settings for NTSC/PAL and DV/DV Widescreen are also what you want.

  • Maximum length of movie

I have just barely under 2 hours of video that I have imported into iMovie. For best quality should I make this footage into 2 separate iMovie projects and burn on 2 separate DVDs (the video lends itself to being divided at the 1 hour mark), or will I be okay having a 2 hour movie in both iMovie and iDVD? Thank you for any help.

Yes, 2 hours is the maximum length of a single layer DVD (iMovie has no such limitation), but that includes menus, transitions, titles etc.
    In iDVD:
Best Performance is for movies of up to 60 minutes.
Best Quality is for movies of 61 - 120 minutes.
Professional Quality: The Professional Quality option uses advanced technology to encode your video, resulting in the best quality of video possible on your burned DVD. You can select this option regardless of your project’s duration (up to 2 hours of video for a single-layer disc and 4 hours for a double-layer disc). • Maximum Length Moviein iDVD?????

What is the maximum length movie that iDVD can handle?
is it based upon duration or file size.....or both?
I have a 3.8GB 156 minute movie I am wrestling with and I am wondering whether I need to split it
    thanks

I'm not an expert, but I think I can help.
It's file size, but that will be dependent on the length of the video, the quality you at which you are encoding and the aspect ratio. The other major factor is whether you are using a single or double layer DVD (4.2 or 7.7 GB). Go to the Project Info in the Project menu and look at the options and how full the bar is. It's pretty self-explanatory. (If you change options, you'll have to re-encode.)
The only other hints I can give are, make sure you have loads of free space on your hard drive. I had issues until I cleared off some space. My most recent changes were correct and saved in the project, but were not on the final burned DVD even after re-encoding the entire project. I think that I had 20+GB free for a 4.2 GB DVD when it worked right. Also, before you make multiple dupes, check the first DVD to see that all the menus, slideshows, audio and video work as expected. I know of someone who burned 20+ dupes of a project where the everything worked on the menus and slideshow, but the main movie had no audio. (Dohhh!)
    Good Luck.

  • Maximum amount of video?

When I put about 100 videos in my itunes library the program stops working. I have to delete the videos otherwise I cannot use itunes anymore (it will crash everytime when i try to start it). Does itunes have a maximum amount of data or videos it can handle? Maybe someone has some information about this.
    thanx Ivo from holland!!

Such a length of video will need a data rate of approximately 2MBPS if you intend to use MPEG2 at full D1 resolution. You could use MPEG1 and fit the content on the disc very easily, although visually it won't be as rich as MPEG2 at a higher rate.
Your other option is to use an encoder that can work at half D1 - which means you can use a higher data rate (if that's what you want to do) and still fit the footage onto a DVD-R.
If you are only using Compressor, have a go at using MPEG1 if you are sure that you only want to use 1 disc. Depending on the source material, you might be pleasantly surprised at the possible quality you can achieve with it.

  • Maximum lenght of video cable on ultra2

Hi every body ,i hope you are doing well.
What is the maximum length of the VGA and keyboard cables that can be used on sun ultra 2 machine without reducing the signal.
As i want to move the monitor connected to an ultra 2 server for a distance about 40 meters.
    thank you in advance.
    Ahmed

VGA is a high resolution video signal and requires a properly designed cable to carry it over a long distance. Many short VGA work over a length of 1,5 m and do not comply with the transmission standards for long distances. For long distance transmission, a 75 ohm coax cable is needed for each signals. This type of cable is usually made to order an very expensive. Standard cables over 30 m are rare.
I think your best option is to use a TCP/IP network and use VNC (Remote Desktop).

I am not seeing why this would be failing.

    HI,
the problem is delimited data defaults to char(255)..... Very helpful I know.....
what you need to two is tell sqlldr hat the data is longer than this.
so change notes to notes char(4000) in you control file and it should work.
    cheers,

    Hi,
Setting row and height is for layout purposes and not for the limiting of text in a TextEdit UI Element.
To ensure that the Text Exit has only 40 characters in 04s - you can do as Alka has suggested.
For doing the same in CE 7.1 - you can use the onChange Action and write code inside that method to limit the number of characters.
I would suggest that you use IWDMessageManager to show a message in the MessageTray whenever the user goes over the limit of 40 characters - rather than accept the whole text and then show some sort of popup.
    Thanks.

  • Lax validation errors on schema import ('version' exceeds maximum length)

I have a schema as per below. I'm trying to import it into Oracle 10.2.0.2.0. However, I'm getting the following lax validation error:
Error loading ora_business_rule.xsd:ORA-30951: Element or attribute at Xpath /schema[@version] exceeds maximum length
I can fix it by modifying the attribute and shortening it but I'd like to know why it's occuring. Insofar as I can tell there is no imposed limit on the size of schema attributes according to the W3C standard. Which then makes me wonder: does Oracle impose limits on the length of all attributes or is this specific to 'version' ? If there is a limit, what is the upper bound (in bytes) ? Where is this documented?
    Cheers,
    Daniel

  • SDO_ORDINATES.X.Field in data file exceeds maximum length

    Hi All,
While loading data in .SHP file into oracle spatial through SHP2SDO tool following error message appears:
    Error message:
Record 54284: Rejected - Error on table GEO_PARCEL_CENTROID, column CENTROID_GEOM.SDO_ORDINATES.X.
Field in data file exceeds maximum length.
I read some where this is due to the SQL * Loader takes default column value to 255 characters. But there is confusion to me how to change the column size in control file because it is object data type. I am not sure this is correct or not.
The control file show as below:
    LOAD DATA
    INFILE geo_parcel_centroid.dat
    TRUNCATE
    CONTINUEIF NEXT(1:1) = '#'
    INTO TABLE GEO_PARCEL_CENTROID
    FIELDS TERMINATED BY '|'
    TRAILING NULLCOLS (

    PROPERTY_A      NULLIF PROPERTY_A = BLANKS,
    PROPERTY_C      NULLIF PROPERTY_C = BLANKS,
    OWNER_NAME      NULLIF OWNER_NAME = BLANKS,
    THOMAS_GRI      NULLIF THOMAS_GRI = BLANKS,
    MAIL_ADDRE      NULLIF MAIL_ADDRE = BLANKS,

    SDO_ELEM_INFO VARRAY TERMINATED BY '|/'
    (X FLOAT EXTERNAL),
    SDO_ORDINATES VARRAY TERMINATED BY '|/'

Any help on this would appreciate.
    Thanks,
