Maximum Number of Contacts on iPhone

Did the maximum number of contact change on the iPhone with the latest update? Prior to 1.1.3 I had more than 3700 contacts on my iPhone (I'm in sales and have my entire contacts database synced from Outlook). I have not been able to sync all of my contacts since the update. I have an iMac24 and a Windows XP Laptop. The problem seems to exist on both and if I remove a bunch of contacts I'm able to sync. I also received a new iPhone from the store today and I seem to have the same problem. Is anyone else having issues syncing large numbers of contacts to their iPhone?

not sure if this holds true for you but it did for me after long discussions for apple. though it is related to outlook on an xp computer
do you have more than one contact folder in outlook?
if so try this
Navigate to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\bin.
run this at the command prompt in that directory with no quotes
"defaults write OutlookSyncClient.exe ShouldLog YES"
Outlook debug log file in Windows XP will be created and stored in C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Application Data\Apple Comuter\Logs\OutlookSyncClientHelper
The log file will be named osch.log.
so run the command and then do a sync. when you open that log file, scroll down or do a search for "ipm" no quotes included. you should see it says "contacts.ipm" or somethign to that effect. if it says other than "contacts" you have either a secondary contact folder or had at one time and outlook is seeing it as a default
also yo must run "defaults write OutlookSyncClient.exe ShouldLog NO"
to shutoff the log. VERY IMPORTANT cause if you dont the log keeps growing
i had the same issue, would only sync 137 outa 1300 contacts. it was because i had a secondary contact folder that i used to sync my razor phone too. it only held 250 contacts

What is the maximum number of contacts in a group that will send in an iCloud email? I'm sending from MacBookPro.

    Limits on Sending Messages
iCloud has several safeguards to ensure that only iCloud members can send messages using the iCloud outgoing mail server. Among these safeguards are reasonable limitations on:
The total number of messages you can send each day (200 messages)
The number of recipients to whom you can send each day (1000 recipients)
The maximum number of recipients per message (100 recipients)
The size of incoming and outgoing messages (20 MB)
You can send 10 emails to 100 people each in a day, for example, or 198 messages with, on average, 5 recipients (and five ninety-ninths).

  • Maximum number of contacts for Symbian phone

    Hi,
Anyone knows what is the maximum number of contacts one can store for their Symbian phone?
For example, I am using N95 8GB. I loaded in 5000 numbers and I have nothing else in the phone. When I try to access to the phone book, phone prompts me "Memory full".
Previously, I have tested loading in 3000 contacts into my N80 and the same thing happens.
I did a check on Symbian's technical specification and also on the phone's technical specification. It says the number of contacts supported relies on the dynamic memory.
I tested my massive contacts on a RIM device, it works perfectly. Maximum number I stored in the RIM device is close to 5000.
Anyone facing such a similar issue?

I have had the E51 for nearly 3 years and have regularly stored 2,500 contacts on it with no problems. T9 Nav can find them quickly; they insert in the fields of emails without problems.
Came to this thread because I just bought a secondhand N86 and I'm having problems with that number of contacts: as soon as I create an email from within Contacts I start to get out of memory messages and cannot open any other entry in the address book until I shut down the phone and restart it. Likewise if I starat an email and then search for an entry in the To field, the search fails and I start getting out of memory messages
This doesn't seem correct for a newer phone with more memory: anyone have experience of this?
I tried soft and hard resets, firmware is updated. The next step is to reinstall the firmware, but that is not working because Nokia Suite gives a 'service unavailable' message just at the end of the reinstall process. Anyone have ideas about this problem?

  • Is there a maximum number of contacts in an Address Book group?

I have 4,367 contacts. I'm trying to create two different groups, one for my wife and one for me. The majority of the 4,367 contacts will be in my group.
I've tried several time but keep getting the same result.
On the iCloud website I create a new group with my name.
I copy several letters worth of names (say the As through the Cs) from All Contacts lists to the David list.
Everything works fine until I finish the Rs, with about 3,800 contacts. I've tried it signing in and out and everything sticks and looks fine.
From then on every name I add appears under the R banner (see below) and, once I sign out and sign back in, disappears.
Any ideas would be much appreciated.
I'm using a 6 month old 3.06 GHz Intel Core i3 running OS 10.7.4. Not experiencing problems in any other area.

Thanks for the link. I don't think it's a space issue. When I look at my iCloud account through System Preferences it shows that I've got 24.99GB of 25GB available (it's just the Contacts and a personal Calendar).
The rules on limits, though, are really confusing. Total number of contacts 25,000 - I can understand that. Maximum size of a contact card 256KB - ok, I see how if you have War and Peace in the notes section that would be a problem. But what does it mean that maximum size of a contact group is 256KB? That's the same size limit as a single card so I assume they're referring to the size of the list of contact cards in the group. But how many contact cards equals 224KB?!? Based on experience, I'm guessing it equals about 3,800 contact names (which frankly doesn't seem like a lot to me - I've been collecting contacts since I got my first Palm Pilot in 1996, which comes to around 225 names a year, not a lot if you're in business).
Anyway, thanks for the help. If I run across a solution somewhere, I'll post it.

  • Maximum number of SMS in iPhone 3G

Hi, I have an iPhone 3G updated to the latest available software (2.2)
I want to know what is the maximum number of SMS messages I can have in a single conversation, because I want to know when I should "clear" the conversation...
Also, if there is a way to save these messages because I want to preserve these SMSs,,,
On older versions of the software some Texts were being rejected by the iPhone because it was full (on the single conversation), so I can't know that I received a new message.
Please help me out because I searched everywhere for a solution. But I had no luck
    Thanks

    Copied from this link.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1498
With iPhone software version 1.1.3 or later, iPhone can store about 75,000 SMS messages.
I don't believe there is a conversation limit.
Here is an option for keeping an archive of SMS messages from your iPhone's backup.

    Hi,
I have been using Skype to go for a while and I decided to add additional contacts. However, when I logged-in today I can't find a button/link to add more contacts. I currently have 9 contacts. Is that the maximum number I can add?

  • What is the maximum number of contacts Address Book will support?

We are a small business who have recently switched over to Kerio Connect. We are currently using Mac Address Book to store & share contacts (sharing via MobileMe), but have been told by our IT support company that we have too many contacts (approx. 4500) and Address Book will not support this many. They have said that this is why we are having issues with contacts emails and phone numbers scrambling. Is there a limit to the amount of contacts that Address Book will support?

Having values shuffle in the fashion described is indicative of a database corruption or an application bug, and that can (also) effect performance.  I'd suggest trying to get a footprint of that problem, and then report it to Apple.
And there is no "lol" matter here.  4500 is a comparatively large number of contacts for Address Book Server, and no, AB doesn't tend to scale all that well and isn't (per information attributed to Apple) intended as a shared contact store.
See this thread and (as you'll learn as you read that thread) make certain your DNS configuration is valid.  Within that thread, specifically see Dr Timbo's post circa Dec 14, 2010 7:31 PM in that thread, and Strontium90's post circa Dec 23, 2010 3:03 PM.
Just because there's an SQL database underneath doesn't imply that the design will scale, nor that the application will have acceptable performance.  It's possible for an SQL database to have millions of records and to run fast, and it's equally possible for a database to have several dozen records and the application can run slowly.

  • What is the max number of contacts that can be added to an email?

I'm sometimes sent emails with 1-200 contacts added in. If I try to 'respond to all' iMail just won't send the email back.
What is the maximum number of contacts that iMail can cope with? Is there a workaround for a larger number?
    Many thanks
    Steve

I'm not sure the point of it as I use a BT push pop3 account?
The point is that these kinds of restrictions are set by your email provider, i.e., Comcast, GMail, etc., not by the Mail application client.
If BT means British Telecom, ask them.

  • Maximum number of phone numbers in a contact, and how to add them easily...

    1. Does anybody know what the maximum number of phonenumbers you can have in a single contact (iPhone 3G)?
I have a database of telemarketers numbers that I would like to add under a singel contact, put that contact on a silent ringtone, and that way not hear when these folks try to call me. The database contains over 5000 numbers, so I'm not sure if I can have that many numbers under a single contact...
    2. What's the easiest way to add several numbers to a contact? Is there a program that allows you to add a lot of phone numbers to on contact easily?
I have tried with Windows Contacts and Outlook, but they seam not to be able to handle more than a few (4-6) numbers per contact, even though manualy adding numbers I have 9 numbers under a "Do nt answer" contact. But adding 5000+ numbers manualy in the iPhone is not an option...

I don't think you can do it any way but manually as your right outlook has a limit on number of Phone numbers. Does Norway have a do not call register? this would be a simpler way of getting rid of tele-marketers.
Sorry can't be of more help

  • ICloud the maximum number of free accounts have been activated on this iPhone, how to fix this?

i have problem here on iCloud using my iPhone when i log in it says "the maximum number of free accounts have been activated on this iPhone" how to fix this guys? please reponse

You would have to contact Apple and see if they would grant an exception and allow you to create another one.  There's nothing you can do on your phone (that I know of) to correct this.

  • HT204053 The Maximum number of free accounts have been activated on this iPhone

I am trying to setup iCloud account and when I login I see a popup.
The Maximum number of free accounts have been activated on this iPhone.
I have downloaded the Where is my iPhone App to help us locate it in the event I lose it.
My Wife has an iPad3 and has the where is my iPad app.
We have a friend that someone stole her iPad 2 and this is why are chose to use iCloud.
Please let me know the fix.

Each device can only set up a limited number of iCloud accounts.  Once this maximum number is reached all you can do is re-use one of the accounts previously set up or create a new account to use on another iOS device or Mac.  If you wife has an iPad 3, it may be possible to create another iCloud account on her iPad to use on your phone.
To do this, on her iPad go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Add Account, choose iCloud from the list, then enter the Apple ID and password you want to use for your iCloud account and sign in.  Do not turn on any data syncing or her data will be uploade to the new account.  After setting up the new account, you go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars...tap the name of the new account then tap Delete Account to delete it from her iPad (it will remain in iCloud).  You can then go to Settings>iCloud on your phone and enter the ID and password to sign into the new account on your phone.  Then turn iCloud data syncing for Contacts, Calendars, etc., to On, and when prompted choose Merge to upload your data to the new account.

  • HT204053 the maximum number of free accounts have been activated on this iphone whit i do

Please tell me what i do

Error Message: "Cannot sign in.  The maximum number of free accounts have been activated on this ipad/iphone"
I encountered the same problem when I purchased a used iPad for my elderly father and couldn't set it up for him. I called Apple Support...
Apple support could NOT help me. I was told there is no way to circumvent the 3 icloud setup limit on iOS devices at their end. I was told to use a different mac or iOS device that hadn't met the 3 x limit.
So, using MY iPad I tried to do that. At first I went to Settings/iCloud. But that is your PRIMARY iCloud account    (and this was MY iPad and I didn't want to screw up my own settings!) which you don't want to trash.
After some online research (iMore to be exact) I discovered you can setup a secondary iCloud account using:
Settings/Mail,Contact,Calendars --> Add Acount... -->iCloud --> Get A Free AppleID --> Birthday Q then Security Question - then Name - then Get a free iCloud email address....
After you get to the new iCloud settings page at the end of the signup process - I deselected all the tabs which made the new account "inactive" on my iPad.
Next I went to the used iPad that had the initial problems, and tapped on Settings/iCloud. I signed in with the iCloud account that was newly created and was able to then get an iCloud account to work!
I left the new iCloud account showing on my own iPad (under Mail,Contacts,Calendars) as it is inactive. I am not sure what would happen if I deleted it - it may stop working on my father's iPad then.

Then you'll have to use another iOS device or Mac running OS X Lion or higher to create a new account for you to use on your phone.  If you don't have one, perhaps a friend would allow you to create and account on their device (note: this will use one of their three maximum accounts).  To do this, they would need to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account (which will delete the account from their device but not from iCloud), then allow you to sign back in with your ID to create the new account.  Then tap Delete Account to delete the new account from their device, and finally, sign back in with their iCloud ID to restore their iCloud account to their device.  Then you can sign in with your ID on your phone in Settings>iCloud and use the new account.

I just traded in my iPhone 4S for Samsung Galaxy 4S, still have iPad. Some of my iPhone contacts are unable to send me a txt that I can receive. But NOT all of my iPhone contacts. I have had them change their settings for my ph number to NOT say iPhone. Txt msg is disabled on iPad. I have no idea what to do. I called the support line that I Pay $9.99 a month for. They told me to delete my iTunes account. Will I lose all my pics on my ipad? I have no music download. I'm getting ****** at this whole thing. And it allllllll started with apples update to the ios7.... I HATED IT. Help.

What your iPhone using friends label your phone number in their contacts is irrelevant. I don't know who you pay $9.99 a month to but it's not Apple. You can't disable text messaging on your iPad as it is not capable of SMS.
Do you still have the iPhone? If so, log out of iMessage on the iPhone.
    Try this:
    Go to: https://supportprofile.apple.com/MySupportProfile.do
Log in if not already logged in.
    Click on "Edit Products"
Click on the "X" to the right of the product.
    Click "Unregister"
Also, try changing the password on your iTunes account.

I have an iPhone 4S and when I try to add an iCloud account is gives me an error "Cannot Sign In, The maximum number of free accounts have been activated on this iPhone." Is there any way to deactivate an account? I have one for myself, one for my family and one for my work. I had all three on my iphone and then I deleted my work. I wanted to get my own person @me.com account. It wouldn't let me create it from my iphone, so I created it from my Macbook Pro. I am trying to add it to my iphone, but it keeps giving me that error. If there is a way I can deactivate my work one so I can use my @me.com personal account?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Unfortunately once all the 3 iCloud accounts have been created on your mobile device, you cannot create any more regardless of what you do. You will need to re-use one of the accounts that you have already created or create your new account on another device or computer.
You should however be able to add existing accounts to your device, are you sure you aren't trying to create on rather than simply use an existing one.
