Maximum number of recipients?

Is there a maximum number of recipients to which I can send an email at one time? I need to send a message to approximtely 6,000 alumni, but don't want to crash my system or have the message marked as spam or junk. I can send the email multiple times to a smaller number (like 6 batches of 1,000), but even that may be too big?

First: RFC 2821 says "The minimum total number of recipients that must be buffered is 100 recipients.". So you can relay on 100 recipients per mail.
However, if your provider (Verizon) sets a limit of 250 addresses per hour (obviously to avoid SPAM), this is not a violation of RFCs. If you are unsatisfied with this, change your provider.
If you send your mails using Verizon's mailservers, .Mac service has nothing to do with this limitation.
If you send, however, your mail using a @mac.com address using the .Mac servers, you will find information here:

    Hi Riwa ,
Really sorry for providing the wrong value on MaxRecipientEnvelopeLimit in my previous post.
The default value for MaxRecipientEnvelopeLimit is 5000
    Reference Link : http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124151%28v=exchg.150%29.aspx
    MaxRecipientEnvelopeLimit
    Optional
    Microsoft.Exchange.Data.Unlimited
This parameter is available only in on-premises Exchange 2013.
The MaxRecipientEnvelopeLimit parameter specifies the maximum number of recipients in a message. The default value is 5000. The valid input range for this parameter is from 0 through 2147483647.
If you enter a value ofUnlimited, no limit is imposed on the number of recipients in a message. Exchange treats an unexpanded distribution group as one recipient.
ANDY thanks a lot for intimating and making me to have a clear understanding on this case.

  • Maximum number of recipients for Mail & Gmail

Is there a maximum number of recipients I can send one email to if I use Mail? FYI ... I have a Gmail account that I use with Imap and access through Mail. I need to send an email to more than 100 recipients. Is that fine?

    Thanks for your response.
Actually, a few days ago I have sent an email to 127 recipients (in bcc:) from Mail with my Gmail account. As outgoing mail server this account is set up to use the smtp server of my ISP.
Does the limit of 100 you mentioned apply in this case?
I didn't get any error message when sending the email, and many people replied to my email. However, some didn't even though I expected their response.
What I would like to know now is whether all 127 at least got the message or not?
    What's your take on this?

  • What is the maximum number of recipients can I email in one email?

Using 10.9.3 what is the maximum number of recipients can I email in one email from a MacBook Pro?

Sending limit for a single email is 100 recipients.
Sending limit for a 24 hour period is 200 emails.
Maximum recipients for a 24 hour period is 1,000.
Attachment size limit for outbound or inbound emails is 20mb.
If You Exceed Limitations – You’ll see an error message and your account will not function for 24 hours.

  • What is the maximum number of recipients per group text message

I was just wondering if there was a limit on the number of people who are allowed in a group message? My phone will only let me have 10 people, but my friends phones let them have as many as they want?

As you appear to have discovered, the maximum is 10.

  • Maximum number of recipients per message

    Hi,
i am trying to send a mail with about 500 recipients from Outlook connected with Outlook Anywhere to the Exchange 2013 Server. For each user i get an error saying mail could not be send - Error: [0x80004005-00000000-00000000].
If i send mails only to a few recipients it works with no problem.
    I found the following limitations:
    get-ReceiveConnector | fl identity, MaxRecipientsPerMessage
    MaxRecipientsPerMessage : Default : 5000, other connectors : 1000
    get-transportservice | fl PickupDirectoryMaxRecipientsPerMessage
    PickupDirectoryMaxRecipientsPerMessage : 100
    get-transportconfig | fl maxrecipientenvelopelimit
    maxrecipientenvelopelimit : 1000
    get-mailbox user| fl RecipientLimits
    RecipientLimits : Unlimited
    Did i missed something?
    Thanks Martin

    Hi,
    thanks for your suggestions:
1.Is this error happening for all the senders or else for an particular sender .
I tried 3 different senders, results the same.
2.What type of mailbox is that .Just check that with the help of the below command
    ResourceType         :
    MailboxRelationType  : None
    RemoteRecipientType  : None
    RecipientType        : UserMailbox
    RecipientTypeDetails : UserMailbox
3.Just reconfigure the sender outlook profile and check the same .
I created a new Outlook Profile with no change.
4.The error what you have shared is that the full NDR ?
Full NDR is for every receipient:
This message could not be sent. Try sending the message again later, or contact your network administrator.  Error is [0x80004005-00000000-00000000].
5.Just try to send an email by enabling the cached mode.
Cache Mode is enabled, if i disable the cached mode i get an error saying "A
    client process failed."
6.Just try to send an email by enabling the online mode
What do you mean with "online mode"?
    7. Instead of sending email to multiple recipients .Just send an email from the sender mailbox for a single recipient in your organisation .
This works, i can send the mail to 25 receipients with no problem, somewhere between 25 and 30 receipients i get the ndr report.
8.Disable the outlook plugins and check the same.
    Disabled plugins, error remains.
    Thanks Martin

  • Sending E-mail to large number of recipients

    Hi,
Note 598718 describes number of messages that is possible to send pr second if paralell prosessing is used:
"For all SAP technology Releases 6.xx, one of the next Support Packages will deliver a basic change of the SAPconect send job which will provide scalability of the throughput by using several parallel send jobs and/or application servers. This will allow a throughput of approximately 15 messages per second (about 1,000,000 messages per day)."
Does anybody know if this still is the limit (15 pr. second) in CRM 7.0 and if there is a way to improve this number?
    Regards,
    Ronny

I thought about using BCC, but it seems a little messy although it would do the job.
Messy how?  That's exactly what it's for.  In fact, there's no other way to hide addresses from other recipients of the message.  The only other way to do it would be to script automated sending of one message per address, and that would get quite messy!
What is the maximum number of recipients that Mail can handle?
There's no limit enforced by Mail, AFAIK.  The limits come from the SMTP server you're using.
One of the issues I had when using Outlook on Windows for this by copying and pasting from a text document, was that if there was an invalid/non-existent address in the list, it would just return an error and I was never quite sure if the whole thing didn't send, or if it was just to the dodgy address(es).
In Mail, you'll just get a bounce message for any addresses that don't exist.  The one exception to that is addresses on the same server that you're sending from...  often, the server will simply reject the attempt to send to an address that it knows doesn't exist.  I'm not sure what kind of message the server returns in that case, though, and suspect it depends on the server.  It's been a while since I've seen such a problem.

  • What is the maximum number of contacts in a group that will send in an iCloud email? I'm sending from MacBookPro.

What is the maximum number of contacts in a group that will send in an iCloud email? I'm sending from MacBookPro.

    Limits on Sending Messages
iCloud has several safeguards to ensure that only iCloud members can send messages using the iCloud outgoing mail server. Among these safeguards are reasonable limitations on:
The total number of messages you can send each day (200 messages)
The number of recipients to whom you can send each day (1000 recipients)
The maximum number of recipients per message (100 recipients)
The size of incoming and outgoing messages (20 MB)
You can send 10 emails to 100 people each in a day, for example, or 198 messages with, on average, 5 recipients (and five ninety-ninths).

  • Max number of recipients for iBots

    Hi,
I'm just trying to find out the maximum number of recipients that is permitted by iBots. Please could you indicate where I can find this information?
    Regards,

The limitation is defined by the database (Oracle, DB2 or SQL) that is with SAP BW/BI. If you are running BW on Oracle, I believe it is some where between 700 to 800. I do not know the exact number. I have InfoObjects that have more than 200 attributes.
    thanks.

  • UTL_MAIL.SEND max. number of recipients

    hello,
i would like to know if there is a maximum number of recipients (seperated by comma) I can send an email using the UTL_MAIL.SEND procedure.
I just found the limitation "Maximum total number of recipients that must be buffered is 100 recipients" but I don't know exactly that means.
    thanks for your help

Yes, it does. No, you cannot see it unless you unwrap the UTL_MAIL package. Not a worthwhile exercise as the code is some of the worse PL/SQL code I have had the misfortune to see. There is nothing much to learn from it. And if you need serious SMTP and MIME functionality, you will need to look elsewhere than UTL_MAIL for that.
However - your question relates to SMTP server functionality. How many times can the RCPT TO call be made in succession? That you need to ask your SMTP mail server (via a test, or the mail admin).

  • Maximum number of responses using distributed forms?

What is the maximum number of responses allowed with distributed forms?

That depends on how many people have access to the form. If you distribute it to 500 or fewer recipients, then you can collect and use data from any number of responses. If more than 500 recipients, you can use data form no more than 500 responses. By "distributed forms" I'm assuing you're using the Distribute Form feature of Acrobat, which Reader-enables the form in the process.

  • What is the maximum number of addresses that can be sent in a group mailing

Can anyone tell me the maximum number of addresses that can be sent as a group mailing?
    Thanks.

"Does Mail complain when you try to send a message to several recipients at once? You might be surprised to know that Mail actually has no limit on the number of recipients to whom you can send a message! So, what's going on here?
Chances are it's your Internet Service Provider (ISP) that's preventing your message from being sent. Your ISP might do this, for example, to deter folks who send unsolicited bulk commercial email (such as "spam" or "Junk mail") to a large number of addresses.
If this happens to you, contact your ISP and ask them if they enforce a limit on how many recipients each email message can have. If there is a limit, you can either send your message to fewer people, or divide your recipient list into multiple sets and send the same message in batches (each time to a different set of recipients). "
    Brilliant! Thanks.

Since yesterday I'm unable to send emails on any of my Apple devices. The revert is that I have exceeded the maximum number of emails per day, but I had only sent out 24 with no bulk emailing -  (much less than 1000 recipients as per the website) and I'm STILL not able to send emails.
