Maximum number of switches in a stack?

What is the maximum number of WS-C3750X-48P-S switches I can have in a stack? IOS is 12.2 (55) SE3

As Glen aready noted, the limit is nine for data stacking (StackWise).  3750-X power stacking (Stack Power), between stack members, is limited to 4.
Also note, large 3750 stacks can sometimes be very sluggish doing some CLI commands.
And also note, although StackWise Plus supports "spacial reuse" for unicast traffic, large stacks might congest the ring sooner.
Lastly, for very large stacks, a chassis might be a better and/or less expensive solution.

  • Maximum number of switches in a LAN

    Hello
I have one question about the maximum number of switches (layer 2 only) that we could connect together in a LAN.
    I think is 7.
In the case that we want to install more that 7 what are the STP parameters what we must change ?
    thank you for your answers.

    Hi Mauricio,
The figure that you are talking baout is the diameter of STP i.e 7. Thhis is the number of hops to which STP spans properly and does the STP calculations as expected. After 7 hops you might see unexpected results and it depends. There is no limit of the switches that you can put in you N/W it all dpends upon the N/W, Number of nodes i.e users and requrement. So in case if you are trunking switches to your Core/Distribution switches make sure that you should not cross the 7 hops STP diameter.

Try posting your software, its version, and the type of connectivity you're using for oracle.
Older versions of Crystal used a proprietary Oracle ODBC driver that came with Crystal, but you should SWITCH away from using ODBC anyway, not sure why you elected to use it, it's slower and more problematic.
You'll see Oracle Server listed as a data source, that is generally the best connectivity to use.
Also, what version of Oracle is it, and what Oracle client are you using?
You might need your Oracle dbas assistance here.
Anyway, the error is not a Crystal error, it's being raised by the ODBC driver, and Oracle used to have a maximum of 1024 colums I think it was...been a while...

         void com.evermind.util.ThreadPoolThread.run()
    Question:
    - What is the cause of this error message? How to avoid?.
From the Oracle error message documentation:
ORA-00020 maximum number of processes (string) exceeded
Cause: All process state objects are in use.
Action: Increase the value of the PROCESSES initialization parameter.
Another alternative approach may be to configure your Connection pool and/or your ApplicationModule pool to optimize the use of
database connections and/or restrict the number of database connections used by the application. For example, if your application
has declared many root ApplicationModules (i.e. more than one ApplicationModule pool is in use) then it may help to enable the
jbo.doconnectionpooling switch so that each ApplicationModule instance in the pools does not maintain a dedicated database
connection while not in use. Another alternative if you are using the BC4J connection pool (not a JDBC datasource) may be to
restrict the number of connections the pool can create to < 150 with the jbo.maxpoolsize switch. However, please note that this
may have an impact on throughput.
    - I intended to deploy my application to 9IAS server. Will the same problem occurs too?.
This is a database issue. So, yes.
    Hope this helps.

  • Nokia N8-00 'maximum number of connections in use'

    Hi,
I have creted another APN in the Destinations-Internet settings. Put this APN on priority 1. Then I se internet an it is ok. But when I open Nokia Maps or another App. Sometimes it tries to connect to the old APN then says 'maximum number of connections in use'. Asking me for confirmation to close one connection.
So I move all APN's and Wireless connections out of the Destination Internet. Except for the new on that I want. Still the same message From time to time. How to stop thi message. Deleting an APN is not a solution I am looking for otherwise I would have done that.
    Any help is appreciated.

So the on off method I posted earlier did not work. The first APN is still tring to be accessed by some apps after the phone is switched off and on again. The other things I tried..
    - Removed the APN restriction and renamed the first APN. When I start the APP it now gives me a warning and lets me choose the APN. I choose the second one so greate. Close the APP. Now when I rename the fisr APN to the original name. APPS try to access it again and I get that original error.
The only thing I could do is configure the first APN name with the actual Access Point of the second APN. This worked All apps are accessing the first APN whaich was reconfigured to look like the new Second APN.
This is not a solution again it is a workaround. Does anyone-else have this problem. Or am I the only one who is configuring multiple APNs. Since my provider has multiple APNs.
I would have thought that this phone supports Multiple PDP contexts, or Secondary PDP context. It was defined in the initial 3GPP specs way back in 2003ish. Nokia can you confirm???
    Cheers Peps!

    VLANs - about 4096 - switch dependent
    HSRP - 16 groups max

  • Maximum Number of Simultaneous Accounts?

Is there a maximum number of accounts I can have running at the same time? I have fast user switching turned on and would like to run up to 10 accounts at a time.

    Daniel,
I don't see why not, but then I also don't see what possible reason you would have for doing this. Keep in mind that your MBP may become very sluggish with this many accounts active at one time, especially if you do not have your RAM maxed out.

  • Maximum number of CAT3560's that can be connected

What is the maximum number of Cat 3560 switches that can be connected together. Using all Fiber ports the max number would be 5, does this series of switch have a design limitation on how many can be connected together?

you could theoretically connect a switch to every port of the 3560.
this may not be best design for STP and broadcast domain purposes but would be possible. (depending on what you're trying to accomplish)
do you mean how many max daisy-chained one after the other??

  • Maximum number of interfaces in Port Channel on Nexus 5596

Let me preface this by saying I am not a network expert....
I noticed that our customer had configured a port channel on their Nexus 5596 comprised of 16 interfaces. I thought the maximum number of interfaces in a port channel was 8 interfaces? I see in the Nexus 7000 documentation that if you configure 16 interfaces, the remaining 8 will be in "hot standby." Is this the same behavior on the Nexus 5000 series?
    Thank you.

Same behavior on the 5500 series and other Cisco switches like 3750, 3850 , etc..

  • Maximum number of buttons (HELP)

i have a project where i need 24 buttons. i have a project with 24 subtitles and on the main menu, i want to put all the languages so a viewer can select their language and then watch their subtitled version. the maximum number of buttons allowed on a 16:9 project is 18. does anyone have any solutions??

    LOL!
I was a teacher once... and not been called smart since I threw away my suit to go to work in...
It's as Eric said - you are creating an illusion using two menus that are identical. Menu 1 has 18 buttons that work, but has a background image that appears to show 24 buttons. The 18th button is invisible and auto-activates to menu 2, where you land on a button that is labelled as button 18. This menu has a background image that has the graphics for buttons 1-17 but no actual buttons in those positions.
The trick is accomplished because as you move between buttons (using the remote) the last in the list (button 18) will jump to menu 2, where the real button 18 is actually the first on the new menu. Remember, the default button is usually the first you create (unless you specifically change this) so the user will see what looks like buttons 1-17 as a background image for menu2, and will appear to be on button 18, but will in fact be on button 1 of menu 2.
You'll need another invisible button on menu 2 that is positioned above the default button so that the user can move 'up' from what they believe to be button 18. When they do so, the invisible button will auto-activate and go to the first menu, landing on button 17.
There will be a pause as all this switching around takes place.
This illusion prevents you from needing to use navigational arrows on the menus and the user can be fooled into thinking there are more than 18 buttons on a 16x9 menu.
A different way to do what you want is to use a track as a menu, and use buttons over video. Works like a menu, but isn't restricted in the same way... but also doesn't provide some menu features, and you'll need to build it carefully.
BoV uses an image set into a track and an overlay file, but then you create buttons using the subtitle stream. In essence you create a track, add the graphic for the background. You make sure the start marker is set to be a button highlight marker and then add a subtitle. With the subtitle active you can add button rectangles just as if you were in a menu and if you add the overlay file you can add all kinds of highlight shapes. Navigation and colours work the same as for menus, but remember a subtitle can only really have four colours - you'll perhaps need to compromise somewhere along the way in terms of how this all looks.
It's an interesting challenge - I would like to hear how you get on with it.

  • Windows Azure Active Directory MA - Maximum number of items that can be serialized or deserialized in an object graph is '500000'. Change the object graph or increase the MaxItemsInObjectGraph quota.

  • SG300 Cannot enable IPv6 on the interface - the maximum number of interfaces 3 has already been used.

The Sg300 is currently in L3 mode
Why is it that only 3 IPv6 interfaces are being allowed?
No where in the device specifications or in the documentation did I ever see this limitation when I purchased the switch!

That message it means that you will not be able to create another iCloud account on your device as the maximum number have already been created.  Your only options are to either re-use one of the accounts previously created, or create your new account using on a different iOS device or Mac, if you have one.

  • Maximum number of fabric logins

    Hi there
I need to provide documented references for a large SAN, and have a few queries.
I have the show tech-supports for an edge-core-edge SAN consisting of 2 redundant fabrics.
There are 4 host edges, 1 core, 4 storage edges per fabric. All are MDS 9500 series directors, running SAN-OS 3.2.2a.
In the Large SAN Design Best Practices whitepaper
    (http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/ps4159/ps6409/ps5990/white_paper_C11-515630.pdf)
there is a reference to the maximum number of fabric logins.
"The Cisco MDS Family supports up to 10,000 fabric logins in a physical fabric, regardless of the number of VSANs in the network."
    1) Is this specifically refering to the number of f_ports?
    2) If not, what is the 10,000 referring to?
In the Cisco MDS NX-OS Release 5.0 Configuration Limits
    (http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/datacenter/mds9000/sw/5_0/configuration/guides/limits/limits_50.html)
there is a mention of 10000 FCNS entries per fabric.
This is the only reference I can find that correlates the two limits.
The Configuration Limits for Cisco MDS SAN-OS Release 3.x
    (http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps5989/prod_troubleshooting_guide_chapter09186a0080679fd4.html)
makes no mention of FCNS or fabric login limits.
    3) Is the reference to 10000 FCNS entries (in the NX-OS 5 limits) also the number of fabric logins?
In the show tech-support, there is a command
    `show tech-support fcns`
    `show fcns database vsan 1-4093`
    VSAN 431:
    FCID        TYPE  PWWN                    (VENDOR)        FC4-TYPE:FEATURE

    5) Does this mean they are N_ports, not F_ports?
I would really appreaciate answers to these questions.

    John,
Cisco NXOS Configuration Limits (reference/background link)
    1) Is this specifically refering to the number of f_ports?
Answer: Yes, the 10k logins in the Design Guide Whitepaper refer to the number of Fabric logins, not the number of physical ports.  This is because you could have a single F_Port that has multiple logins as part of it.  For example, an Nexus 5000 in NPV mode could connect to a MDS 9513 via one F_port (NP_Port on the Nexus 5k), but have many Fabric Logins (technically, one FLOGI and multiple FDISC).
    2) If not, what is the 10,000 referring to?
Answer: Number of devices logged into the Fabric not the number of ports in the fabric.
    3) Is the reference to 10000 FCNS entries (in the NX-OS 5 limits) also the number of fabric logins?
Answer: Yes, since every device out there that FLOGIs into the fabric registers with the nameserver.
    4) In the below output does this mean that there are 1066 fabric logins?
In the show tech-support, there is a command
    `show tech-support fcns`
    `show fcns database vsan 1-4093`
    VSAN 431:
    FCID        TYPE  PWWN                    (VENDOR)        FC4-TYPE:FEATURE

    <.. output abbreviated for brevity>>
Total number of entries = 1066
    Answer: Yes.
    5) Does this mean they are N_ports, not F_ports?
When I look further in to it, and see the command
`show fcns database detail vsan 1-4093`
    VSAN:431   FCID:0x0500b1

It shows that most of the entries have the port-type: N.
Answer: An N_Port is an end device like a storage port or an HBA, which connects to an F_Port (Fabric Port) which is the corresponding port on the switch.  This is why you see it as an port-type of N, rather than NL (Node Loop) F, E, or FL (Fabric Loop), as only N or NL can represent the end device itself and not the port on the switch.
    Hope this helps,
    Seth

ORA-00020: maximum number of processes (1000) exceededThis was the first time in three years that happened an incident like this. Due my Windows server allows me to setup processes and sessions with a very high value, I did it when configuring this database for the first time.
    select resource_name,initial_allocation, limit_value from V$RESOURCE_LIMIT;

Host SRVXXX is a server where a web app is and 192.168.1.1 is our firewall. May I think that this server was the one that made so many connections?
I checked alert.log, trc file and listener.log. What else can I check to determine what was the cause of this incident?
